What a wildly successful weekend it was! David completed three consecutive concerts at The Tuacahn Amphitheatre, making for a musical hat trick. Thanks to the generous fans who took Periscopes, video and pictures, the rest of us back home were able to witness David’s comeback in real time!  I can’t wait to hear more of his new music because what I have heard thus far is just wonderful!

Safe travels to everyone going home today!

By Jenny, David Archuleta’s Fan By Accident

Posted by bebereader on Tuesday, June 28, 2016

He embodied everything that I felt I was missing or have lost: youth, beauty, vitality, charm, talent, genuineness, quiet confidence.

His beautiful singing enveloped the whole amphitheater surrounded by red rocks in the cold November evening. There he was on stage, confidently alternating playful, folksy banter with the audience and singing filled with youthful passion, yearning, energy, playfulness, tenderness, and compassion. His voice had transformed from the angelic, pure sound of his teenage years into a warmer, deeper, sensual sound of a young man at the peak of his life.

I became his fan by accident. When IOS 8 song recognition feature first came out, it kept recommending David Archuleta’s songs no matter what I sang to Siri. (I don’t sound anything like him and I am a terrible singer.) After being annoyed initially, I gave in and listened to his rendition of “Silent Night”.

From the first note, I was struck by the beauty of his voice. His tone was like the most intimate, tender whisper, prolonged. Each phrase was infused with tenderness. So many nuances of gentle crescendo, heart-wrenching surge, perfectly-controlled decrescendo and phrase endings that sounded like caresses. Each verse sounded more intense and the part that hit me like a sledgehammer came after the stirring orchestral modulation up to E Major. His rendition of the third verse there sounded like his entire heart just tore open with unbearable feeling of love and adoration. I suddenly felt a surge of endorphins in my brain like the time I indulged in dessert wine and chocolate together. Only it was much more powerful and I felt my throat and chest feel tighter with overwhelming emotions. I felt tears welling in my eyes. It was as if a gate had opened and all the emotions I had suppressed, didn’t feel entitled to, flowed out at once. I also yearned for what I think he was feeling – heart filled with awe, love and devotion. I listened to that recording all day long, then listened to anything I could find on YouTube of his singing.

I was obsessed.

I found out about his concerts in Utah from his equally obsessed Twitter fans. I had created a Twitter account just to follow my new idol.

Concert in St. George! Beautiful outdoor venue. I plotted my getaway. Stop at Vegas, stay at spa resort near the amphitheater, visit Zion. I pleaded with my husband and being the kind-hearted person he is, he said, “You totally deserve it.”

There I was at the amphitheater, bundled up, soaking up everything that this young man put out on stage. He closed his eyes often when he was expressing strong emotions and he danced adorably around the stage during the more upbeat songs. I was surprised that the object of my obsession looked so young.

His quick eyes, when he had them opened, scanned the audience and seemed to take in everything. They expressed fleeting moments of amusement, minor irritation at times, alarm, brief, icy look perhaps at people looking a little too intensely at him. I don’t think he is quite the clumsy, innocent nerd he portrays himself to be. Very serious, thoughtful and disciplined maybe.

What was I doing there? What did I want from him? All I know is that I was not thinking about any of my problems during the concerts. I was enchanted and bewitched by the beautiful sounds coming from this beautiful young man, David Archuleta.

Jan’s recaps: 3 David Archuleta concerts in 4 days!

Posted by bebereader on Sunday, April 3, 2016

Richfield
“There he is!”  I was checking my phone for any David news as we were going into Richfield.  “He’s on the same highway that we are on, Dayzee!”  Sure enough after winding around a few roads, there were the same signs that were in David’s Instagram!  We are here!  Later there was more excitement to see him walk out on that stage with his big smile and waving.  Oh, the yelling, clapping, standing ovations; he had them all!

Like I’ve said, the whole world needs to hear that voice. It’s just something special to see him live…he has that “light”.  Got to meet up with Shawna and Patty again.  Hadn’t seen them since Motab. The big surprise was when Nathan came out and sang “The Prayer” with David.

OMGosh, I never, ever thought I would get to see that live.  At the end, David had a little girl come on stage while he sang “Glorious”.

When leaving, I saw a bottle on stage and went down and got it with the help of a stage hand.  Thought I had a David bottle, but when I watched the video of them singing “The Prayer”, it shows Nathan taking a drink and sitting the bottle right down where I picked it up…so…it was Nathan’s water bottle and not David’s!  😉  well, he’s second best!  LOL

On to Queen’s Creek – 1st concert
There was an early dinner at Olive Garden before the concert where we met up with Kalei and her bunch.  It was Linda’s birthday and she was surprised to find out that she was going to meet David in person!  Awesome!

Dayzee’s and my seats were apart and I got to sit between some “fuddy duddies”!  *~X( at wits' end  No arm swinging with lighted cameras, no singing and swaying!  They might not have been in the swing of things, but it didn’t stop me!  haha.  The 3 on my right left when David left the stage.

What?  no encore??  How can anyone leave with David on fire!!!  But of course there was one!  It left me on a high all night!  He was so good!

Queen’s Creek – 2nd concert
Gwen couldn’t make it, so Dayzee sat in her seat and Dayzee’s seat went to Victoria!  I sat next to SuzyQ and it was good to see her again.  Got to meet Pat and Sweetonda, Tawna and hubby, DJAfan and more.

After hearing “7 Years” live 3 times in a row, I give in!  David puts his all in that song, he is incredible! There is nothing like David feeding off the electric frenzy of the fans.  I felt like a teenager again!  It is with love that I listened to his little speeches before his songs that gives messages on him staying in music.  Don’t ever quit singing David!

It was the night before Easter and I was hoping David would sing something special and he did!  It was beautiful.

It was so new to him he read the words from his phone and sang it perfectly.  Feeling it in his heart, he was breaking down at the end as we all were.  Thank you David, you never let us down!

What a joyous trip! It wouldn’t have happened without the super nice Dayzee doing all the driving!   😀

“Unplugged and Un-wired” – Tawna’s Recap of David Archuleta’s Idaho Falls concert – Second Night

Posted by bebereader on Sunday, September 20, 2015

balconyAll pictures credit Shelley #DA2015

It was an awesome Friday night concert. I love the man that David brought back to the stage! To think that he almost didn’t is frightening.

He was so delightfully chatty and witty. He had some of the front row girls almost dead when he gave them a full-face, right-in-your-face, smile and point of his finger. On one song that he was introducing (I don’t remember just which one), someone from the side yelled “I love you, David!” and he chuckled, smiled that impish grin, looked over their way pointed his finger, twirled it, and in a melodic speaking voice sang something to the effect… “you say you love me and you don’t even know me”, he smiled bigger and continued on with his monologue. It was hilarious!!

CPUl3ulUsAExXd8It was so good to see him ‘unplugged and un-wired’. All of the band members had monitors, but David didn’t…. I guess it’s up to them to figure out what he needs and not him figuring out how to make his sound work with theirs. His hands were beautiful instruments in helping to create the feelings that he wanted us to feel with his songs. It was almost like they were pulling these emotions from his heart and spreading them to us. They are very graceful and fluid.

His new song “Numb”! Holy Toledo! If these words don’t explain to people where David has been, then nothing will. That includes the venue usher lady that was standing in the way as the crowd was trying to leave and asking me if I had ever seen him before… ME: “Oh yes! Several times.” LADY: “I wonder what took him so long to come back to the stage?” ME: silence, no words to say, dumbstruck…. then quickly as I moved on… “He just told us he needed to find himself, get himself to where he needed to be and now he’s there and he’s back!” I wanted to ask her if she hadn’t been listening to what he had been saying all night, but let it go. She must have been one of the gestapo watching for cameras and not paying attention to David. My husband even commented about how rude they actually were in the way they were treating people. It was very distracting to have them hovering like ravens in the corners and on the sides. But, they were just doing their jobs, I guess. You had to be there to really appreciate what I’m saying! I wish these venues would realize that these YouTube videos are an important part of promotion for these performers. If the venue were to come out with a professional video to sell, they would make a fortune in sales.

CPUoMzZUYAAkkBS

I think I could die now and all would be well. I have heard David sing ‘Everybody Hurts’ live and in concert. I’ve heard that glory note at the end sung in the flesh. I shall never want again!! I wish we had Friday’s version. To me it was just a little more ‘there’ (if you know what I mean) than the first night. I may have had some tears leaking from my eyes.

Oh, and the dance steps! The backward staccato steps! The backward slide steps! The foot pounding! The hunker-down! The hand pounding his heart! The ripping-his-heart-out-and-handing-it-to-us-in-an-open-hand gesture! The full of life and light smiles! The rambling and waving of hands — yes, he still does that! David is back!!

There were some emotions at one point as he referred to his mission. In my opinion, had David not gone on the mission, we would have had a different David singing to us. The man we have now is a performer and song-writer who will bless us in a much stronger way than he could have before. He is giving us his ‘real’ heart and soul because he has found and developed what is real to him.

It was so fun to see again some ‘old fan friends’ and to meet some that I’ve never met before! Archies Rock!!!!

David Archuleta ~ Glorioso Es

Posted by djafan on Tuesday, May 5, 2015

currentcredit Meet The Mormons

After the Youtube video for the Spanish version of “Glorious” was posted on this site, Gladys made this comment:

gladys1961 said
“The song is beautiful, David’s voice is sublime. It is different from the version in English. The lyric has totally changed.”

I was curious and asked Gladys if she would please transcribe the Spanish lyrics for us. When I read the Spanish lyrics and then translated them to English, I understood what Gladys meant. Although the sentiment is the same in both songs, the lyrics are very different. However, the song sounds just as beautiful in both languages.

David’s voice in Spanish has a natural flow. It may be because of his gift of combining the end of one word with the beginning of the next, weaving the lyrics together to create the melody.

What do you think?

But back to the important stuff. The really intense stuff that all of us fans can get pumped about and cheer about. What do YOU think his little project is? I spy with my little eye video/recording equipment and one of those little snappy things they use when the director yells “cut!” GO DAVID!!!!
