David Archuleta – The Next Romantic Heartthrob?

Posted by fenfan123 on Saturday, October 5, 2013

We all love that voice. David Archuleta can sing anything. When he comes back from his mission he is going to conquer the world, one song at a time. We know he will have a phenomenal singing career. But when he has been there, done that and has a little time on his schedule, what else should he do? He could go look for his kind of perfect, you say? Maybe.

Well, I am a demanding fan. I want to put him to work – in the movies. I have always thought David would make a wonderful comedic actor, what with his “dry wit” and “oh gosh” demeanor. Or he could be a romantic lead. Just look at that face. HEARTTHROB! – if ever there was one!

David himself has said he enjoys acting and would love to do it again.

He has some ideas about the people he wants to act with (6:40) and has managed to overcome his fear of acting (9:20).

And he is open to acting in a movie or series in the US.

He didn’t say what roles he would like to play. But I think starring as the heartthrob in a romantic comedy would be perfect. I know what you are thinking. Kissing is de rigueur in romantic comedies. That might prove a bit difficult for a guy who claims he has yet to lock lips with anyone. But look at You’ve Got Mail – no kissing till the very end. With some judicious camera work and editing he could even get away with a fake kiss.

What I wouldn’t give to see David on the big screen loping through Central Park with his dog by his side on his way to meeting the girl of his dreams. A movie soundtrack album with David singing Over the Rainbow would be icing on the cake.

For the longest time I had thought that I would be content if I could just see David in a romantic comedy. I wasn’t sure about his potential for serious drama until I saw him emote and spill those tears in Nandito Ako.

As I was writing this and casting around for an example of a dramatic role for him, I came across this announcement by 20th Century Fox that got me really excited. They are looking for someone between the ages of 18 and 22 to play a young Elvis in The Last Train to Memphis.

Elvis hopefuls are required to submit an audition tape of themselves reading some lines from the movie script and another of their singing 6 to 8 bars of a pre-1957 Elvis song. Well, we all know someone has already got the singing tape done.

But would he ace the audition? I think 20th Century Fox should wait another 6 months to find out.

What do you think? Have your say in this poll.

Consistency ~ Dressing David Archuleta for Success

Posted by MT on Monday, June 27, 2011

When it comes to vocal talent, David is as consistent as they come. His voice is on point and on pitch in every performance. He is consistent in delivering an emotionally potent and riveting performance. Singing comes as natural to him as breathing and he rarely misses his mark. He may hit an off note once in a while, but they are few and far between and it’s usually when he’s sick. Vocally, people know what to expect from David and he never disappoints.

David is in the process of discovering his own sound and deciding what picture he wants to paint for the world with his songs. He understands that the world needs to know what to expect from him and he’s trying to make sure that his next project shows the world “who he is” and what they can expect. He is now striving for consistency in this aspect of his life.

There is one last category where I think David still needs to find consistency.  That is his wardrobe/image. I know this might seem insignificant. And I know it would be hard for him to actually look bad. With that face? Please! He’s just too beautiful. But I do think he needs some consistency for not only his fans, but for anyone who wants to hire him for a performance. They should know what to expect both in his look and his sound.

David is in a transitional stage with his image as well as his music. David’s first tour, when he was only 18 years old, was affectionately known by some fans as “the plaid tour.” David wore a different plaid shirt for almost every performance. For the CFTH tour, the second half was performed with him wearing a beautiful black jacket and dress shirt with black pants (very nice, by the way). Since then, David has had no real consistency in what he wears. He has done performances in everything from T-shirts and scarves to a Tux. Of course, the Tux was an exception, worn for the most formal of occasions, singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but you get my meaning.

Now that David is no longer a teenager and is looking ahead towards what I hope will be a very long career in music, isn’t it time for him to develop his own style in regards to his professional appearance and have some consistency in this area as well? I think he would benefit from finding a nice mature look that he’s comfortable and consistent with, whether it’s for concerts, interviews, singing the NA at sporting events or performing for charity. I’m thinking that this might just fall into place once he discovers his own sound. There will probably be a look that he feels just naturally goes with it.

I know David isn’t going to take our opinion into consideration and I’m not saying he should. When David is ready, he will choose his own style. So…

JUST FOR FUN, and because things are slow right now, how about a little poll? Which of the following photos do you think would be a good look for David now that he’s no longer a teenager? What would you like to see him wearing consistently?

If there’s another photo out there that’s not listed that you think would be a great image for David, let us know. Personally, I’m partial to the fitted T-shirt with a jacket and dark blue or black jeans. It might be a little warm for him on stage with a jacket, but he could always take it off after a few songs, once he gets warmed up.

1.

Very nice! Well fitting. (This color blue looks GREAT on him.)

Casual, comfortable, & looks every bit of his 20 years in this one.

2.

This could work, too. Fitted shirt and skinny tie FTW!

3.

Hmmm … a bit too casual?  Maybe with darker jeans?

(Is that the same T-Shirt from pic 1? Hmmm…

Different jeans and no jacket?  Not the same look. )

4.

Short-waisted, double-breasted MJ style military jacket. Nice.  ♥

5.

Dressy casual.  Hmmm… a bit too dressy for on stage?

6.

Black leather jacket with jeans and tie anyone?  😛

7.

My fave.

Gorgeous. That’s all. Just Gorgeous. Well fitting, solid colored T-shirt, Jacket, Dark Jeans, Boots ♥ Different colored T-Shirt = different outfit! Easy as pie.

A little too hot? Like I said, he could always take the jacket off later. (P.S. His hair looks GREAT brushed back like that, too. Makes him look older.

Ready? Choose a photo and tell us why you chose it in the comment section.

Good Place

Posted by betsy on Tuesday, March 29, 2011

It’s been almost four months since David gifted us with his masterpiece, TOSOD. A project that we all know he poured his heart into, making his personal thoughts public. He wanted music that he could not only sing, but relate to. I still consider it new and one of the best things he’s ever done to date. There are songs that I will never tire of, songs I listen to every day. Good Place is one of them. (Ok, it’s at the top of my list)

I love every word, every single bar of music, every breath. (I am feeling its grace)
I really want to hear David sing this song live. Of all the millions of songs in this great big world, this is the one I want.
I remember the first time I heard it. It was love at first listen, which rarely happens. (For me, anyway) I may need an intervention, lol.

p.s. I still want to embroider some of the lyrics to this song on the front of a t-shirt. Can’t decide on which ones though – it would end up taking over the whole thing. 🙂

David Archuleta- Good Place Lyrics

I don’t know what I’m doing here
How I landed in this space
But it’s a good place

And I don’t wanna mess it up
Make mistakes or say too much
‘Cause it’s a good place

You find it
You hold it
You feel its grace

These are words I wanna say
Every hour of every day
These are words that say how good it feels
To be here with you today
I hope it’s not too late (I hope it’s not too late)
I hope it’s not too late

I’ve been silent up to now
I’ve been going with the flow
Wherever that goes

But something’s screaming down inside
Makes me want to close my eyes
And hear the echo

You find it
You know it
Don’t make it wait

These are words I wanna say
Every hour of every day
These are words that say how good it feels
To be here with you today
I hope it’s not too late

‘Cause I don’t wanna waste another summer
I don’t wanna wait until I fall
I could be a memory tomorrow
I could be nothing at all

I don’t know what I’m doing here
How I landed in this space
But it’s a good place

These are words I wanna say
Every hour of every day
These are words that say how good it feels
To be here with you today
I hope it’s not too late

Oh, yeah
I hope it’s not too late

Which song on TOSOD does this to you? Which song makes you want to close your eyes and lay down with just that sound in your head? Do you have a favorite? If so, tell us what makes that song or songs special to you. And vote for the top 3 songs you love the most (and need to hear live) below. ♥ ♥ ♥
