David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. At ten years old, he won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition leading to other television singing appearances.[6] When he was twelve years old, Archuleta became the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2.[6] In 2007, at sixteen years old, he became one of the youngest contestants on the seventh season of American Idol.[7] In May 2008 he finished as the runner-up, receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes.
David Archuleta at 2017 ANASAZI Foundation Gala ~ Patty aka Djafan attended!
Posted by bebereader on Sunday, November 12, 2017
Hello everyone! I’m home! I had a wonderful trip to Arizona this weekend! When I received the alert that David would be in Arizona at the Anasazi Gala Event I asked my hubby if he wanted to visit his brother in Arizona on the weekend of the event and we went.
Knowing that David is very selective in the causes he supports I read everything I could about this foundation and it’s work. Since I was going to be making a hefty donation to attend, I wanted to know what I was supporting because of David. I was greatly impressed with what they do for the troubled and their families.
The event started with a silent auction. I bid on a couple of things and was successful in one! This was the first online auction I participated in. I receive an alert every time I was outbid with an invitation to rebid; it was fun.

I chatted with a couple of “Walkers”, the name of those that lead or have been part of this program. I noticed that many of them wore small medicine bags hanging around their necks. I asked why. They explained that in the walk when they accomplish a goal they select an item to put in the bag and carry it close so they remember these things were part of the healing of their hearts. I was moved and knew that David’s light had lead me there.
The doors opened at 6:30pm to a beautifully decorated ballroom. Everyone was assigned a table and I being a single attendee was seated in a great seat in a table sponsored by Hundai. My table mates were warm and friendly.
They did an incredible presentation with various speakers and alumni of the program, very moving. Following the light, having an inner light, sharing one’s light was a common thread among all who spoke. David was a perfect fit for this event.
David was announced and bounced out on stage with Brady by his side. David sang and spoke beautifully just as always. When it was over Brady was collecting stuff from the stage and I went over to speak to him. He is so sweet and kind and uber talented.
I saw Kari and she looked gorgeous. She was surprised to see me lol This was the first time ever I didn’t see anyone I knew in a filled room. I went over to an area where several were congregating in front of huge double doors and saw Firefly group of singing sisters. I couldn’t believe Maddie recognized me from Queens Creek. Maddie sang Don’t Give Up with David , the best duet partner for this song to date IMO. I asked to take a picture of them and they asked me to join them. I said why not. lol
Well I found that this group were big sponsors of Anasazi and were going to have a photo op with David. I was so lucky that they let me take part being a single donor and all. They were going in a groups and I went in by myself.
David glowed and he said hey you! Oh my gosh, I said I came! He asked how I found out about it. I told him an online alert and I asked my husband if he wanted to visit his brother in Arizona. I told David my husband asked if by any chance David was going to be there, I said yes. David started laughing that laugh of his lol. He asked where’s your husband? I said visiting his brother, more laughter. I thanked him for singing, for his light, for him being him, for his message, for not giving up on his gift, can you tell I was a tad excited? haha. The photographer asked me to stand next to David for the picture, I said oh yeah lol. Took the picture and said bye until next time. He thanked me for coming and supporting such a worthy cause.
I took video of the entire singing and talking of David. I apologize for the shakiness, for cutting his head off at times, and for my squeals. lol I tried really hard to stay still, without any success. At the end all the Walkers come to the front during David’s last song.
I don’t like the way it narrows but it happens when it gets uploaded. I hope you guys enjoy it.
Leaving the information for Anasazi for anyone who may be interested.
The ANASAZI Foundation is an organization headquartered in Arizona that has served families by introducing them to the wisdom of the the Navajo Indians, also known as “wise teachers” or “ancient ones”. It doesn’t surprise us that David, with his philanthropic heart, love of nature and respect for humankind, was involved in this event that was not heavily advertised. David performed many songs, including “Up All Night” and “Invincible”.
“Founded in 1988 by renowned wilderness pioneers Larry Olsen and Ezekiel Sanchez, ANASAZI gives young people an opportunity, through a primitive living experience and a philosophy that invites healing at the hands of nature, to effect a change of heart—a change in one’s whole way of walking in the world. ANASAZI’s licensed and nationally accredited outdoor behavioral healthcare programs are non-punitive—its caring and patient staff is focused not on bad behaviors, but on helping young people discover and nurture the “seeds of greatness” which lie within. To those at ANASAZI, the wilderness is not a harsh place to break youth down, but rather a safe place—a place free from distractions where one can learn, ponder, and build.
ANASAZI’s family-focused intervention programs (for youth 12-17 and young adults 18-25) are recognized worldwide for their unique and caring approach to treatment. ANASAZI’s preventive efforts—including parenting workshops and community drug awareness/education forums—have inspired two international best-sellers (Leadership and Self-Deception and The Anatomy of Peace), an Emmy-nominated drug abuse prevention campaign, and peacemaking techniques used as far away as the Middle East.”
My daughter-in-law’s sister works for the Anasazi Foundation. What an organization!! She is actually spending her Christmas holiday on the trail with some youth so that their parents will have a connection with them through her. It’s a difficult time for the parents to not have their kids at home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Kudos to this foundation for taking care of these kids who are in need of some guidance from a source other than their parents. ♥♥ We all know that sometimes parents can get in the way and an outside source can make all the difference needed.
The picture for the puzzle is quite the collage. ♥ Thank you, Abrra.
Thanks for a new post Bebebebebe! Can wait for a certain someone to get back home and tell us all about the evening.

Someone once said “It takes a village to raise a child.” I have compassion for the families who struggle with raising the young ones with behavior problems. Being away from influences that contribute to the behavior gives them a chance to realize that “it’s not all about me”. Learning that they can focus on changing how they see things and in turn, see others point of view.
It was a tricky puzzle for sure, but that;s what makes it fun!
Thanks for the beautiful recap of this event and especially for recording it for us. I didn’t notice any shakiness or hear any squeals, except my own. haha
Jumping in here to say WOWZERS !!!! What an awesome video !!! Thank you so much Djafan, for sharing that with us. He looked great, sounded great, and well, there’s not much more I can add. I’m so proud of him !!!
Thank you so much, DJA, for the fabulous video of our fabulous David. Thank you for being there and capturing it for us. My gosh, it was a whole concert and David was in great voice, as always. Loved it!
I am so happy you got to be there, Patty!!!! What a great cause and a great night. And I’m thrilled you got to say all that to David, you were speaking for all of us, in a way… I know I am thankful for all of those things you told him and it warms my heart that you got a chance to tell him. *sniff* Thanks so much for the videooooo!!!!! {{{{{hugs}}}
Bebe, thank you for putting up the info for Anasazi. Sorry it took so long, we were on a true family visit 😉
Tawna, what a great contribution to these youth in need. And you’re right sometimes the family needs outside help. I️ was thoroughly impressed.
Abrra, ditto to everything you said. Talking to some of the leaders about the way of the walkers, the connection to nature and light as David has been doing for himself beings on such positive outcomes.
Thanks for the great recap, Patty! It was so awesome for you to be able to be there. Always good to see that sweet smile of yours. David has a way of making us happy. 🙂
Djafan, how fun for you to be there, and looking quite classy yourself, I must say! Thank you for sharing David’s part of the program and a recap of your experience, with photos even. Your “thank yous” to David were spot on and spoke for so many of us who have been on this fan journey. I enjoyed every minute of your video, including your “squeals.” 😀
Djafan!! I loved the pics of you and DA! You are a beautiful woman and I loved being able to have some idea how you look in the “flesh”!!! ^_^

I just discovered that you can watch IG stories on the PC now 🙂 YAY! I wondered what that sidebar was on the right side of my Instagram page…..it’s stories :))

“While acknowledging that he misses Utah’s mountains and loves coming home to visit, he maintains heading to Music City was necessary for the opportunities and the escape it offered.
“Interestingly enough, a lot of people who were on the show ‘American Idol’ have moved to Nashville. So they’re not saying to you, ‘When are you gonna get a job?’ ‘Oh, well, I do music.’ ‘Well, what about when you need to get a real job?’ Things like that.”
And to be sure, this is Archuleta’s real job.
Earlier in his career, he acknowledged, “I was so caught up in wondering, ‘Do other people like what I’m doing?’ [that] I didn’t ask, ‘Oh, do I like what I’m doing? Do I enjoy this?’ ”
He knows the answer now.
“I want to keep doing this. I want to tell stories that are actually meaningful to me, that come from a vulnerable place in my life. I want to do that. So I’m gonna keep working at this,” he said. “I have to restart in a way, after being on a hiatus. I have to remarket myself to people and show them who I am. # 23 Enjoyed reading the press interview. I love the “cheesy” David! I think that’s what we all love about him…that he is just a regular guy, not trying to be uppity. That, along with the best voice in the world makes the perfect package! ♥ Thanks, Abs.
I will sneak in here between his concerts and recap his concert in KC. Dayzee and I went early to beat the traffic…haha…we didn’t. But there wasn’t anyone there yet and we decided to walk around and look. A guy stopped and asked us if we had ever been there before and we answered no. So he said he would give us a little tour if we wanted. Ok, that was fine with us. He told us that one of the buildings was the first hotel in the area and later it become a brothel! I thought “and David is coming here?” Of course, it isn’t now and a lot of singers and entertainers go there. It was an interesting place with all kinds of nooks and crannies. There are 4 different stages with a lot of different entertainers performing, sometimes at the same time. There is an Elvis impersonator there every Friday night and he said he is really good. David was in the main building that is called “The Garage”. He thought it was a cool place and so we thought so too. 🙂 The sound was good and it was pretty well sold out. We stood almost the whole time where there was a great mosh pit with all his fans. He was awesome as usual….he was on fire! Even though I had never heard of the place and was leery of a David concert there, I was pleasantly surprised that it was one of the best concerts of David’s…ever! Very unique! ♥
Thanks for sharing your experience in KC. I spoke to dayzee today in a quick phone call. She has been having computer issues with her new PC. When the concerts stop, maybe we will hear from her.
Thanks, Abs. She told me when she was here that she had been having comp problems but was hoping all was ok now. Evidently not. I talked to her the other night to tell her that she left her David photo in the back seat of my car under a pillow. She hadn’t missed it because she has others from other concerts… ♥ I told her I would send it to her with some photos that I had taken.
I loved the interview. Been in Abravenal Hall twice and wish I was going again. Kudos to all the ones that get to see him in Idaho tomorrow night and the concert in SLC Monday night! One can’t seem to get enough of his concerts! Ya can’t just watch one and be satisfied! 🙂
I remember Edith’s story. She was talking about seeing him twice with the MTC and I thought I must have been special cause I seen him twice also. I think Dayzee said she seen him all 4 nights. I actually seen him 4 nights but the first night was in the overflow room that holds about 500…the extras that won’t fit in the Conference Center that holds 20,000.
The second night was when he was autographing after his appearance. The 3rd night was the night we actually had tickets for and the I got to see him Sunday morning when it was televised live…right there on the 2nd row. The whole experience was so awesome. Will never forget. Being a David fan has been 10 years of wonderfulness! ♥
What a wonderful surprise when I came onto TV this morning!
This is one of those times when words fail! That was awesome. I had the Christmas MTC with David on already and had to turn it down to go to this.
His stage presentation was wonderful. Thank you for being there and getting the full recording. Thank your kind husband for the trip! 😊
There were times I saw on his face who he truly wants to be. Congrats to David on that and thanks to him for changing his directions. He may not want it but I saw a mega star! The right word? 😗
I’ve been binge watching concert and interview videos all day trying to catch up with all that’s been happening in the past three months. Those Manila videos are truly epic! David is the only singer who can make me grin like a fool and cry at the same time when watching him sing. It makes me almost afraid to go to a concert because I know I will be a blubbering mess all through it. But how I wish I could have been in Manila.
Dayzee sent along a few pictures from the concert.
Lots of finds on Twitter.
I had the best time of my life tonight David always put on a good show and they just get better and better @BelnapDasani @DavidArchiepic.twitter.com/gbY7Z9zsLZ
Enjoying all the concerts videos and photos of David! Thanks to all! ♥ He just has to know how much he is loved. The fans never fail… And another great Sunday puzzle, Abs, Thanks!
Last week I learned Imagine Dragons were going to appear on Ellen’s TV show. I figured they would sing one of my favorite songs about thunder, so I did not want to miss it. Enjoyed the Dragons, but there was something missing. Where was the magic? Yesterday in Pocatello I found all the magic I could handle.
When I searched for tickets for this show I found one seat available on the front row. Multiple seats were many rows back. Hmmmm. Should I get seats to go with friends, or could I enjoy the one front row seat all by myself? You know my answer, right? My granddaughter said she would drive me to Pocatello and wait in the car or the lobby during the performance. She is a university student and spends hours studying with her nose in a computer so I did not feet guilty accepting her offer.
When I found my seat I realized my neighbors on both sides were season ticket holders for the venue and knew very little about David Archuleta. I do not know who freed up their ticket to allow me to sit in their place, but I am very grateful. David came on stage and I took a few pics. The lady next to me tapped my arm and told me photography was not allowed. There had been no announcement of the policy, so I just smiled and told her I could not help myself. The pictures were precious to me. About midconcert I watched her dig for her phone and I had a cohort.
When the concert was finished David was extremely kind to the fans. On stage front he posed for pics, accepted trinkets, talked to fans, gave a few hugs, lots of hand contact. He left the stage but returned and started all over again. My new friend was now taking video of the aftershow. Big smile. She told me David was amazing. Duh. I asked the fellow next to me how he liked the show. “Didn’t. I like country. And the drums were too loud.” I agreed about the drums. After David left the stage the band members remained. Brady picked up set lists and handed them to fans. The musicians were very popular with the crowd and spent quite some time schmoozing.
There were many young teenage girls there. I love talking with these teenagers because they are just like all of David fans. Very sweet, very bright. Interesting people.
Dayzee, love your “I just smiled and told her I could not help myself”. 🙂 You are the best teacher…showing those ticket holders how to do a David concert!
Yes. Thank you Shelley for sharing with us!!! I watched Shelley here and there thru the night and it’s just so effortless for her. She just quietly goes about pushing those buttons and creating these gorgeous videos and stills. ♥♥
Many apologies for the lateness of posting this puzzle. I did post it this morning and it seems it didn’t go through. Firefox has updated recently and its not acting nice. I have trouble even opening the link to comments.
Thanks for the puzzle Abrra. I have tried to post only to have my comments disappear . Appreciate your tenacity.
Today I thanked my granddaughter for driving me to Pocatello and studying in the parking lot while I enjoyed David. She said it was no problem, but people kept knocking on the window to say they liked her license plate. Years ago my daughter gave me a license plate holder the says “I would rather be at a David concert” 🙂
Better late than never, Abs. Myself, I have been so busy the last few days, it is better that it was late since I just got around to it. 🙂 Thanks to you and Shadowbenny for the colorful Sunday puzzle. They are always fun to do.
I hear ya’ on the Firefox update, Abrra!! I couldn’t find the refresh or home icons for awhile. It’s one of those stressors that I don’t need in my life!!
Thanks for the puzzle!
Dayzee, I want one of those license plateholders!! 🙂 It was good to see you at Abravanel Hall — even though we had to wave across the crowded room. I wish they had consulted with me when they were planning the seating for that venue. I would have made them go back to the drawing table and make it a little more convenient for me to get to you for a quick hug and some chit chat!! I saw lots of fans, but didn’t do any visiting. I was just kind of in my own bubble and there to enjoy David and his music. And, I did. Boy! Did I!! He just doesn’t get tiresome to go to see! And when he’s as on fire as he was that night, I’ll continue to deal with weird seating to see and hear him!!! I am going to start packing a stool to stand on, so I can see more than the person in front of me when David requires us to stand and groove with him! There was one lady in front of me who had some pretty good video going on her phone, so I watched that during PANDA/Thunder! 🙂 I’m just glad that rhiminee got that salsa footwork he did, cause I missed it too!! Sometimes it just really sucks to be short. But other times it’s a pretty nice thing to have going for you!
I’m on pins and needles to see what announcement David has for us on Monday!! 🙂 I’m not even venturing a guess as to what it might be.
Clearing browser history helped. Do it every day and that should help. I expect a fix will be offered next update.
I think it has to do with #LightTheWorld as a Christmas events theme. That’s my guess. Some fans speculate it might be a livstream of the Peru concert.
A fan reminded me about this satirical, funny site about David from back in the early days after Idol. Click the link and gets some laughs, not at David, but at the craziness! If you are offened by potty mouth words, stay away 🙂
I'm stoked to announce that I'll be hitting the road early in the New Year! 🎤🎶 Tickets will go on sale Thursday, November 30th at 10AM local time. I can't wait to perform you guys! https://t.co/PWwJvo6SNDpic.twitter.com/luuNYE1ewx
Wow! 8 new concerts for the eastern fans! He is on a roll. 🙂 So glad for him and the fans.
Watched the CMA Country Christmas and was wishing that David was on there…..for the whole world to see a perfect pitch singer that would really wow them! He spoils me to listen to other singers. They just don’t have the “it” that David has.
49…those Orlyy posts are hilarious. Wonder why she quit making them. She sure had a thing for him, for sure. 🙂
Hello all! That David is sure keeping busy! I’m loving every single bit of it! Abravanel was insane by the looks of it and so cool that he is receiving support by his cowriters and producers. That speaks highly of our guy 🙂
I purchased tickets to Arizona next year and working on Seattle! Hope to see you guys on the road. So glad to see all the east coast dates, made many very happy 🙂
Now he’s in Peru! I’m up watching and posted a new thread! Go look at all the love from the Peruvian fans!!! >>>>>>>>

Thanks for sharing your experience in KC. I spoke to dayzee today in a quick phone call. She has been having computer issues with her new PC. When the concerts stop, maybe we will hear from her.
David’s TV interview at KSL in Utah.

Don’t forget to check out the box on the right side for Edith’s story. She is his #1 fan at 97.

I think Edith passed the next year, I heard. 😦

Patty/djafan,
What a wonderful surprise when I came onto TV this morning!
