davidarchie ~ Some of you may have noticed that I took a few weeks off from social media. 😬 It was extremely helpful and allowed me to get a better understanding of myself and where I am at in life. It’s so easy to get caught up in thinking about whether every moment in my life would be pleasing to everyone. Sometimes I get caught up to see if I am having enough interesting moments and witty remarks that will catch enough attention from people. I start rating my self-worth and how good my life is based on if someone chooses to look at my picture and like it or not who after 1 1/2 seconds most likely moves onto thinking about something else and looking at other photos and comments. I feel like I get caught up and obsessed with seeing if they approve or not the moment with comments and believe their comments and likes suddenly determine whether my life is great or not for where I am or what I am doing in the photo. It interferes with me being in the moment and enjoying where I’m at both physically and with my mindset, because I feel like I have to keep finding moments that will get enough people to look and “like.”
I may try to take more time without the temptation of social media and seeing how many likes I can get from a thought, picture, or video, and I would encourage you all to do the same and see what things you can learn about yourself that you may have forgotten while trying to get others’ approval. I will make sure to post more though and find the balance of sharing without caring too much. Haha. I guess it is a pull and tug that we all face throughout our lifetimes—not worrying what others think about us and letting that form our identity while having the courage to share what we learn and who we are. Know that a new song will be coming out in just a short time, and I’m so excited to share it with you! I will keep you all posted. 👍🏼 #dog #time #socialmediabreak

I read and reread. It is sad that he gets wrapped up in all the acceptance stuff. He’s going through the process of growing and maturing, we’ve been there done that. So he’s learning and trying to create that balance. It makes me happy that he is aware and working on his comfort and what feels good to him. Good for him.
And new music is coming shortly!!!

So many young people today are obsessed with social media. It’s good that he has decided to not let it dictate who he is or how he feels about himself. I can’t imagine how much pressure it must be to know that your fans want to hear from and see you often, and he doesn’t want to disappoint. But, he needs to do what he needs to do. Sometimes I think we’re a little too OCD where he’s concerned. I want him to have a normal, happy life. Not be stressed out about whether he’s tweeting or blogging enough to please the fans.

There we have it. Good for him. It’s interesting that he realizes that his fans need to hear from him. To be able to see goofy/not goofy photos of him. And so, the dilemma comes in that balance of what and what not is important — even semi important. Of course, to the fans, it’s all important. But, to me, as long as he is willing to stay in touch enough to keep us informed on the stuff that matters most (ie: his music and the release thereof) we can be happy.

Glad that he takes time off because he realizes the whole world is watching every move he makes. That would be hard to take for me too. I think it goes with the personalities people have. Some of the stars love it when they get a lot of attention, but he never did want to be the center of attention. Hard to be a star and try to please everyone. But it’s good that he realizes his fans are missing him. . Like I told him…he is unique and that is why we love him. ♥
Sometimes when I get to rambling on here I want to take it all back and tell myself to just shut up..so I do! 🙂
Bentley is so cute. Especially with David’s glasses on. 🙂

When I post something on social media, I do it to share something I find amusing or pleasing to look at. I can’t really relate to being a celebrity and caring how many likes I might get in response. All i can say is you do you and what makes you happy. The rest of us will be happy whether you post or not. We fan appreciate most of the things you choose to share, so keep doing whatever you decide and we will understand
I have to get this off my mind because of comments around the fan base about his silence meant he might be getting married.

This IG post only proves to me he is not ready to consider something as serious as marriage. I know that in his culture/religion it is customary to marry young, but from what I read from his own writings, he is not equipped for that kind of responsibility. Thankfully, he realizes his limits and is willing to reflect on his life situation and slow down when things become too much.
That is why I said I was sad. Sad that anyone would assume(such a big decision would be made) just because he was absent from social media. To me that trivializes one of the most important steps anyone can make.

I also am a quiet type. (Jan’s, I love how you and Dayzee, and others can share, never worry, please!)
We live in the same puzzle of push-pull that DA does. We just don’t have it as public, but it is just as real in our own lives. In my work, I have to stay in contact with others, and it is really difficult for me. So many times I just have nothing left over…not because I have done something “wrong”, I love the work I do! But I am a finite being who has to deal with my own limitations and weaknesses. The weird thing is: in order to share my strengths I have to face my weaknesses.
What is hard for me may never be easy in this life. If I judge myself that way,…..I just get more tired! ^_^
I am constantly thinking about how to become better at what I do, and although technology helps greatly, it also hinders. Let me give an example (oh no! Bluesky us going to………*_*….((ha, ha! That is how I really feel!!))…..).
Anyway…..I was with my daughter at the hospital yesterday, a half-day in and out type of thing. All went well. But this is the deal… I bet that the nurses spent hours with my daughter, if you count all the time they were actually in the room. However, 80% or more of that time was spent looking at the computer monitor, and sometimes other equipment. Very little time was actual eye contact, person to person. I love the staff there, and the care, it is a great place! It is just that, the times we live in, we are mightily encouraged to be constantly checking “monitors” in order to gauge the health of our relationships.
For DA, whose greatest strength is face to face communication, this is simply a hurdle he has to learn to navigate. I can’t make him like it. (Dang!) I don’t even like it!!!
But it is real! And no… I don’t mind sending a few zombies after him. He can just put sunglasses on them and tell them he appreciates that they are mostly “non-verbal”…..it will help him concentrate. ^_^
(They won’t make much noise, they’ll just bump around a bit. He can send them out for chips and salsa!)
I guess I want to be able to check that “monitor”, like the nurse, and know that he is okay, all vitals good, systems on line, etc. It makes it easier while you are waiting for news. Reassuring.
But nothing can take the place of that first look, smile, head turn, etc. when someone you care about acknowledges that you are in the room.
This is a good room to “wait in”. Did anyone bring yogurt pretzels?

I like the monitor analogy. I can understand that it might be more about his youthful age than his celebrity that causes him angst at times when he focuses on social media.
My real life job is serving others in a different way than yours. I deal with folks in their homes. I can see right away by the look in their eye if I am doing a good job. I agree with you that up close and personal is a good check. I think David gets that positive feedback more at shows. My wish for him would be that he could use that to realize that what he does is so appreciated. What happens online could be used to inform fans rather then amuse them.

I don’t ever post on social media. I guess the closest I get is on here. And, even though I know that all of you are very kind and accepting of others, I even hesitate to post on here for fear someone may not like what I post. So, in a way I totally understand how he feels. He’d like to share, but knows that if he does, and someone doesn’t “like” what he shares, it affects him negatively. That seems to be the human condition, the need to be accepted by others. It matters not how old you are, or how successful you are. It’s just a fact of life. And, if you can’t deal with it, or if it takes over your life, the best thing to do is not put yourself out there to be judged. We all love him and would never say anything to hurt him, but others aren’t so kind. I just pray that he will be able to develop thicker skin and find a way to receive the good and ignore the bad, because we all love hearing from him.

I agree with it all. It’s amazing how, when David brings something up or makes a post we all can feel exactly what he is feeling and makes us look at our inner self just a little bit more. I guess that is because we are all human. This big ole’ world is a much better place with David in it. He has taught me so much in the almost 9 years that I have been following him. It’s been almost 9 yrs since my husband passed and what a great 9 yrs it’s been because of David.

There are some amazing comments being made here! Thank you all for finding the good side of this post from David. I feel, at times, like we are looking at David from the First Grade primer readers that probably most of us here learned to read from. “Look at Dick. Look at Jane. See Dick run. See Jane run. Funny, funny Dick and Jane. They can run.” So, Abrra, this … “What happens online could be used to inform fans rather then amuse them” is perfect!! Just keep us informed, David. We don’t need something to laugh at, to make us smile, or even to shed a tear over. Just the news.
I, too, have found it rather ‘ugly’, if you will, regarding this speculation of David’s absence indicating a marriage. Please! Be real people. When he does get married, I hope the heck that he’s able to keep it low-key and personal! Of course we all want pictures and smiles, etc., and a little Instagram story would be super, but we just don’t need to know what color of socks David is wearing! And, I hope he takes as long as he needs (I think he will) to make this monumental decision. It’s not one to be taken lightly!!

I find much of the public speculation beyond David’s career to be a turn off. I admit in times past, that I did jump in on some of it. But I am going to chalk it up to this being my first time being such an ardent fan of an artist. 🙂 Probably the same for lots of his fans. His time on AI7 made such a dramatic impact on so many who watched. One can easily become over invested (ya think?) in wanting the best outcome for one so talented.
Everything changed for me back when David was hounded on Twitter after his mission. He sure spoke his mind and showed that he has very specific thoughts on how he wants to be treated. It’s taken time to adjust and start seeing his vision for musical career. Apparently its not going to be the rise to stardom many of us envisioned. I accept that and along with it goes the fact that David is showing his independent side when it comes to releasing new music when he thinks its done. I applaud him for that! Sink or swim, he will be doing it on his terms.

Abrra… I also work one on one with people. I teach classes to groups, as well. But because of the nature of our world right now (I deal with conflict resolution, and learning to ease the stress of trauma) it seems that we have to learn to “reach out” in new ways. And that means we simply have to look at how to reach more people with help online.
This is what I mean when I say that technology helps a lot… but it can also be a distraction. And learning how to use it in such a sensitive area… and actually make it fun for beginners… (yes, that is one of my goals!! ^_^)…. well… you can see that I chose a challenge!
At the same time, I love it when I can connect people from all over the world at the same time, live, working together. It is really wonderful. But how do we reach the “one”?
I don’t sing like DA, so I need to find a different way to help people hear the “voice” inside themselves. For this, I am glad there is technology to help. But ….. it just cannot replace the human contact. Nor should it. And “clicks” by number, are not the same thing as that one human moment that can change a life.
Okay… ya’ll have heard enough from me. ^_^

In looking back, I was in this ‘fan thing’ for blood. I spent hours scanning the internet and saving absolutely every picture that ever popped up. I ‘hooked’ on several blogs that de-constructed, and then re-constructed, every little thing David did. Then this ‘place of solitude’ happened. Thank goodness!! I started to level out, but was still overly involved. Then David went on his mission. My internet time slowed down, but not the avid need to know anything and everything. Yay for the grainy videos that came from Chile! 🙂 And then he got home. We were all clamoring for more, me included, than what David was wanting to give. Enter the strongly worded post that put us all in our place. It took me a couple of times reading it before it sunk in. Honestly, I never got on the rant and rave wagon that so many did. For some reason I just accepted it. My life took another direction. I’m still in the fan world of David Archuleta, and am most likely here to stay, but I don’t worry about his social life, if he’s getting the right foods to eat, if he has a cold, blah blah. I’m here waiting for new music (and still waiting), and a picture when he lets one pop up, or even a picture of a dog named Bentley that is wearing his sunglasses (that we don’t know if she belongs to him or not). I can agree with that statement. It sounds like what David is stressed about is realizing how much importance he has given to the number of clicks. It’s shows tremendous personal growth to admit that these things affect him. Even better is how he has decided to let it go and find the balance he needs.

David has actually suffered about social media in his life for a very long time. I don’t know if that is his real problem or one that comes with not knowing where he is going or where he really wants to be. Connecting with people through the internet seems such a burden. I would still after all these years of thinking this, like him to have a mentor who can tell him not to be so serious or so worried but to centre on singing and let someone else handle his connections with the public. It is obvious that his struggles are big to him but clearly someone is vacant from his life who could answer some of his concerns. He has been unfortunately worried far too long. A mentor of his choice, go with it David!

Since you brought it up…I don’t understand this fan obsession over his getting married or not. He’s only 26. There’s plenty of time yet to fall in and out of love a few times. Call me callous, but I am waiting for some heartbreak songs. And I won’t get them if he marries the first woman who comes along.
That said, I wish only the best for him. He deserves all the happiness in the world.

Actually, the pink is the wall color, the white is the baseboard and the gray is the carpeting. The cushion is pushed into the corner. When I first looked at it, I thought the same thing, then I looked again and realized what I was seeing.
Funny thing, my son has a male dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and his name is Bentley. His daughter picked out the name. I thought, why would anyone name a dog Bentley. I still don’t know (lol).

It all boils down to balance, the story of life, everyone wrestles with this. Hoping and praying David finds his balance and realizes that what he shares isn’t as important as the communication with his fans, especially when it comes to his music. David should take breaks whenever he feels the need without explanations…imo.

If you get a chance, go watch Brooke White’s current IG story (it will poof in a few hours) . I just did and it affected me to see her struggling as she tried to explain what she was feeling. I am wondering if she read David’s IG and it stirred up those same feelings behind his words.
It got me to thinking that Brooke has “everything” that David professes to want in the future. A spouse and family. But as you can see, there is something still lacking for her that makes her unhappy. It reminded me also of the way David’s sister pours her heart and soul out on IG.
What I’m trying to say is some things take time and can’t be rushed no matter how much you want them. Being happy and content starts at home in your heart.
One word I have seen used by all 3 is perfection. They will have to live life a bit more to realize that this is not always a desirable goal. All you’d have to do is look backward and see the struggles that “perfection” causes to know it’s not attainable in reality.
I suppose its all part of the growth into adulthood. Learning to relax and take life as it comes and living in the moment is the goal I seek. It takes years of life experience. So far I’m doing ok with that.

I totally agree with you. I think, maybe, part of Brooke’s unhappiness comes from wanting a huge music career, and it hasn’t happened for her. She has a sweet and precious family, that she struggled to get, but she is still feeling unfulfilled. It’s like you said, we just have to ‘learn to relax and take life as it comes.’ That’s a hard thing to do for some of us. I hope she can get there, because right now she seems to be on quite a ledge. Perfectionism is a nasty word when applied to one’s idea of self worth.

When I was young and raising 3 small boys, I remember saying once that I would be glad when they were grown, so I could do something with my life. How I regret those words now. They are grown and have children of their own, and I don’t get to see them nearly enough. I think sometimes we don’t know what we have until it’s gone. I would give anything I own to have those days back and fully appreciate what I had. I read a quote by C.S. Lewis that says it all:

44…words of wisdom, Abs. I think she is just going through what a lot of women do with small children. I too am a perfectionist and thought that every little thing I did would reflect on my child when they were grown. haha I found out even though with good guidance they end up doing what they want to do anyway. They have to have the good guidance, it’s just what the mom has to go through by worrying about every little thing. Now being a great grandma, I just live life as it comes enjoying all the kids growing up. When young it seems everything has a trial and tribulation but with age you don’t worry so much. I’m like Brooke, trying to explain something and it doesn’t come out very well. 🙂

When we were just starting out with our children, we wanted to do the best for them and always keep them safe. I was fortunate to have my own mother there when my daughter was small. Grandparents can play a big part in the forming a child’s character. As time and circumstances will happen, I moved in with my daughter’s family when my grandson was small. Not perfect, but life is good.

Well, tornadoes hit here and there all over the greater KC area. One was going down I-70 East hitting small towns. A small airport with about 20 airplanes was pretty well destroyed. A big tree hit my granddaughters front window, roof and 2 cars in the driveway. And Saturday we are to get snow! I have lived here all my life and have been blessed by not ever being hit by a tornado. They are scary for sure. There are about 110,000 people without electricity right now, so I feel so lucky!
Sorry for taking over your weather forecasting job, Abs! 🙂 You can have it back now. The storms are over…just flash flooding now.

Tawna, actually we get what you get plus the tornadoes! They are vicious! A home was gone in 15 seconds! 😦 We broke high records for February and we have went 45 days without any moisture and then we get these torrential storms. It’s from the warm air meeting the cold air that we get every spring through the midwest. Today and tomorrow is in the 70’s. Highs in the 40’s with snow Saturday and Sunday. Ugh
I’m ready for the new music…just in case no one knew! 🙂

Jan’s… I am so glad that you are safe! I lived in Iowa for a few years and toranado warnings/storms were just something I had to get used to….but it is really weird sitting in a basement waiting for the “all clear!” Gorgeous sunsets….but with a heavy dash of irony when you know what creates those amazing colors, see-through piles of storm clouds, soaring fantasies of air in shades straight out of the land of Oz……….yeah. I remember!
And I can definitely live without ice storms! ^_^
Jans….. I will hold your hand and shake my head along with you over our dearly missing and invisible and way too silent (for our tastes) voice. Feels like we need rocking chairs, lemonade, and fans … and we well may, at this rate!! ^_^

What a whirlwind he was living in!
Now Kari says there is a storm brewing off somewhere, where we only get glimpses – as though from a distant satellite image: no sound or contact.
If he is thinking of his fans (which I believe he is….you simply cannot create without thinking of those with whom you plan to share the creation!), then I prefer to imagine that the distance comes because he is in the “eye” of the hurricane: from where he is, the storm takes all he has. Hence, the silence.
He will look up, look around, pick up the skirts of the wind, rain, and clouds that weather within him, and smile. Arms full, courage at the ready, he will once again brigde that seemingly immeasurable distance between our hearts.
I will be reminded once again of music.

Thank you for the sweeeet puzzle Abrra. It’s a nice break as I sit here in my daughter’s house, 250 miles from my home, dog sitting her two black labs. Meanwhile, she and her cute family are enjoying the air in Hawaii. It’s all good though … she has needed a vacation for a very long time. She says the only problem is that right outside of their condo are some roosters that crow at 4:30 am. And, since they are the state bird there are millions of them. It makes me chuckle.

I just saw these pics of David Archuleta at Snowangelz and The Voice. I was quite stunned. In a nice way. 😉
I actually LIKE David with this look, whatever other Archies might say. Facial hair and all. Scruffy and all. And he looks mighty pleased with himself too. Like he has made a new discovery – an Eureka moment!
Smooth-faced David before had a different look – sweet, adorable, endearing. Now he looks manly, macho, strong and confident. Judging on just looks, more people really ought to take him more seriously now. And I believe more people are doing just that (even pre-beard! 😀 )
I don’t know if this is to be a permanent look but I do hope it will last for at least awhile. Simply because I feel it may represent a symbolic change.
Perhaps he is creating a change in his music style. Perhaps he wants to be seen in a different way. Perhaps he is at a stage when he needs to break out from something or other.
Or perhaps he has always wanted to be like this but did not have the guts to do it!! This may be the REAL David! Beware, the next thing may be a ponytail!!! 😛
Many of us have always expressed the opinion that there are so many layers to David’s character. Well, here is one of them – being peeled one by one.
Most artistes/celebrities make changes to their appearances now and again. Why not David Archuleta? I for one really like the change (if it’s a change). Didn’t he sing “Waiting On the World to Change” at the AI audition? 😉
By the way, I had a serious David Archuleta -vs- self-revelation moment today when I walked into a large bakery at the Mid-Valley Shopping Mall earlier. His voice rang into my ears through their PA system. I am ashamed to confess I could not remember the name of the song!! I was smacking my forehead trying to remember. Calling yourself an Archie eh??!! Such a disgrace! I had to admonish myself in embarrassement.
While I was picking out my slice of banana bread, I suddenly remembered. It was GOOD PLACE. As I walked towards the quiches, COMPLAIN rang out. Hooray, it all came back to my memory! It was his OTHER SIDE OF DOWN album!
As I drove home, a thought struck me that, even though I spend time blogging him and spending days and weeks and months WAITING FOR HIS NEW MUSIC, I have not spent time listening to his older music! That thought disturbed me. How hard does David Archuleta have to work and how often does he have to continue to release new music before I’m pleased with him?
I’m not saying he shouldn’t (I am a greedy fan, remember?). But hey, I need to give him time to rest too. To refresh.. re-invigorate .. to look for new inspirations .. to make improved changes in his music etc (yeah .. and to grow a beard 😛 )
I do realise now that I’m already – and for some time – been in an Archu-Good Place. I shouldn’t Complain too much.
David Archuleta songs are not songs you discard after a few listens. They are perennials. Enduring. You discover a new meaning in them every time you go back to listening to them.
I’m glad I walked into that bakery today. It sort of cleared my mind a little. I promised myself that I would loosen my grips on him. There could be all kinds of reasons causing the present delay.
I’m just going to be happy that I found the presence of Archies in the least expected of places! Oh yes .. and listen more to his older music while I wait! 😀

Thanks, Abs. I have tons saved on my back up drive too. Since he came back from his mission I decided not to print out anymore for my scrapbooks. I thought it was a good stopping point. The albums are of the photos I took at the concerts. Some good, some bad. That boy is all over the stage and it’s hard to catch him with the camera I had. I was showing my neighbor the photos of David and she asked me “but where are the pictures of your grandkids?” I said I had plenty of those too, but these are David pictures! 🙂 She just doesn’t understand….. 🙂

Last week it was in the 20’s with snow and this week end was 80! Prefer the warmer weather!
KU basketball team is going to the Sweet 16 which will be here at the Sprint Center in KC. David appeared there 2 different times. Once was with the AI bunch when I first met him almost 9 yrs ago and the other was a yr later when he opened for Demi Lavato! That was my first VIP. He sure needs to come back to this neck of the woods! It holds 18,000 people and it was sold out both times. ♥

I really liked the puzzle, Abrra! It made me think, once I saw it in context: the lights, glamor, etc.
I remember singers I have enjoyed a lot in the past….like decades ago. ^_^ Their music was a gift in my life and each new album was a joy. But I did not read much about them, I just enjoyed, and was greatful for, their music. I certainly did not expect any communication from them. (Especially the dead ones, like Bach and Beethoven… *smile*) But later, I admit, learning about their lives would help me to appreciate their music even more.
We live in interesting times. Because I teach online (face to face in real time), I have come to understand a little the effect of the “medium” on the message. When I have students together online, whether just a couple or many, we always spend some time acknowledging, recognizing, and getting acquainted with the “unnamed” member of the group: the computer. I treat the computer kind of like an added person or presence. If there is someone who is always there, but who is never acknowledged, it is a funny and uncomfortable feeling, like everyone tries to compensate somehow….we try to act as though there were no computer between us, but……the only way to do that is to recognize that there IS a computer between us!
Some people take to our ‘new’ “social media” like ducks to water, and they are completely comfortable with using the technology we have as a tool for communication and closeness. Others struggle……partly because the technology is not a milieu that feels “close” to them…..you might say that the tech is a person who, when in the room, causes them to feel less at ease, and less able to just be themselves. I don’t think this is just a generational issue. I have noticed a great variety in the ways my grandchildren and other youth, use tech to communicate. Sure, they are all easily conversant with the “how”s and “what”s, and are charmed by new apps, etc. yet they still vary widely in how they use it to express their own personality and how they reach out to others. The tech can be like a rock in the shoe for some: something that constantly begs for attention without really adding value in and of itself.
So, what is all this ruminating in aid of? Well, I guess I am saying that I am really grateful for technology that links me so quickly and easily with people I enjoy. Like all of the people I have met here! I know that DA us the reason, but the tech is the means, and I am grateful to both. I am grateful to have this chance to be acquainted with you. Thank you! 💕

Been watching a lot of old You tube videos of David and he never ceases to amaze me! Love watching him run all over the stage singing “Something Bout Love”!! I must give you all praise for your patience although I know why you are so patient .
I can see why he was so highly praised one day winning rounds 1, 2, then 3, but losing the contest after that. They knew he had amazing talent but they also knew that this perhaps would have overwhelming expectations for him and they were right. Possibly they knew the direction he really did not want to go or even knew that he had a mission on his mind.
Anyway, new music and being on a world stage (even small ones) outside of his territories would be well worth the wait.

If David is going to release anything in March, it has to be sometime this next week, the way I calculate anyway! 🙂 If he doesn’t I guess we’ll have to start wishing for an Easter present! ♥ It’s hard to believe that he has been back 3 yrs already! One year longer than when he was gone and still no new music! A person can just be so particular! 🙂 He is so good even without rehearsing! 🙂
