You’re out of luck if you still want tickets to tonight’s show. It’s Sold-Out! Being a long-time fan, it’s not surprising that most, if not all of the shows on this tour are sold-out, given the incomparable Christmas Show David gives to his audience.  The last Christmas show I went to was at Westbury right before David’s mission. I remember that “What just happened?” feeling we all experienced when the show was over. Euphoria for sure.

Safe travels and the best time to all going tonight. Thanking you in advance for any pictures, videos, tweets and IGs you can share.

Have any of the rest of you noticed that David has stopped ‘death gripping’ the mic stand and just very gently touches it or wraps his fingers so carefully around it? #justwondering #watchingclosely

No kidding Suzy-Q …. I’d have been all over that poster, like kittens on a milk spill, if they would have been available!! 😀 Congrats on your VIP! They weren’t made available in Utah for some reason. 😦 In fact, when Dayzee called about it in Layton she said the lady asked her ‘what’s that?’ We laughed!

I hope David and Nathan take the next 4 days off and do some serious sleeping and resting! They’re both looking a tad bit tired. But, it will not be noticeable in tonight’s concert … we all know that.

Great photo Dayzee! 8 more days and I get to see you in person! 🙂 Glad you had a safe trip.

Tawna, I have noticed he has lessened the “death grip”. lol He is so much more relaxed now. My sister was here earlier and I always start showing her the latest videos. We ended up way back in the “old” days and it is amazing how much he has grown up. But my gosh it’s almost been 9 yrs since he started on AI. WoW! We’ve come a long ways, baby!! 🙂

Glad to know D gets few days to rest… before the remaining scheduled concerts and slayings the of the people in line for this epic tour! While he takes a break, you know.. to go visit and sing for people in the senior living centers and be his incredible giving amazing self ,I need to get something done around here this week,my vacuum has been sitting in the middle of the living room, atrophied. Thought about just putting Christmas lights on it,but with a little break between concerts now, I can at least attempt to get busy around here.

just wanted to say I loved hearing Nathan speak of being swept away by Oh Holy Night.
I love that he was caught offguard backstage by the ‘heartsounds’ we all know so well. The beautiful heartsounds coming through that voice, that give you chills, and bring tears to your eyes you weren’t expecting and have no control over their arrival. Yep,another patient, another successful heart surgery performed by the Archuleta. Check.

    Oh! and David,
    A set list change/suggestion.

Sky, lol I know. I have stacks of mail waiting for my attention 🙂

I love to see your comments. You have such a great way of expressing yourself, your humor shines. don’t ever stop!

Nathan seems like a good egg. Pre David I would have loved his voice and probably bought some but though I think he has a great voice and seems like a great personality to go along with it once David gets started it’s like Nathan who? No disrespect intended, it’s just what it is.

I like the guy thing they have going along with their beautiful duets. It surprised me that Nathan said he’s learning from David, I just moved up a notch 🙂

Interview with Nathan from Pledge Music. David mentions 🙂

What about a favorite Christmas carol or hymn? What makes that song the most meaningful to you?

I love “O Holy Night.” There’s just something about that song that puts me in the Christmas spirit like nothing else. There’s something about the feeling of reverence and awe that the music brings that helps me remember what Christmas is all about. And I must say that David Archuleta’s version is now my favorite. I was standing backstage the other night and was practically bawling while he was singing it. But then I had to regain my composure because I had to go back onstage to sing “The Prayer.”

You’re in the midst of a Christmas tour with David Archuleta and you’ve worked together in the past. What is it that you enjoy most about working with David?

I love working with him. His voice one of the best I’ve ever heard. He’s also just an incredible performer. I learn a lot from him, both about singing and performing. Plus, it’s just plain fun singing with him on stage. I think our voices blend together well, so it’s an awesome experience making music together.

How is the Christmas tour going so far?

It couldn’t be going better. We’ve performed for two sold-out audiences so far and the response has been incredible. I’m looking at the schedule now, and we have almost sold out every single show. It’s going to be a fun Christmas tour!

    Awesome write up !

David Archuleta playing three sold out concerts in Layton this weekend

“Just how popular is the former “American Idol” singer here in the Beehive State? So popular that venues don’t even require a “radius clause” in their contracts.

Archuleta will be performing three concerts, part of The David Archuleta Christmas Tour, at Layton High School this weekend. He performed the very same show twice last month in Provo, just 60 miles to the south. And next week he’ll be in Logan, 60 miles to the north.

Six concerts, in a relatively limited radius along the Wasatch Front. And Davis Arts Council executive director Kirt Bateman, whose organization is presenting the Layton concerts, doesn’t even care.

    That’s how popular Archuleta is.

“When you book an artist — especially if he’s going to do three performances like this — there’s usually a radius clause in the contract,” Bateman explains. “Generally, a radius clause is 90 miles around our venue, to protect us from an artist booking another show close enough that it would affect our ticket sales.”

Although the radius clause is “super-standard in the industry,” according to Bateman, in Archuleta’s case it just doesn’t matter. Because, seemingly, Utah can’t get enough of their favorite American Idol.

“David set up these other shows with our blessing,” Bateman said. “And they’re all sold out.”

Djafan!! 15: no worries!! You guys here all know that I love both Nathan and DA! ^_^

Back when DA was on his mission I listed as one of my secret dreams to have them sing together. I never could have guessed that my dream would blossom into such a beautiful reality.
I could listen to Nathan forever and his music, voice, and lyrics (he writes some amazing lyrics!) have gotten me through some tough nights. I would love to have DA sing some of his songs. They are amazing. Nathan also is just such a joyful performer, and humble. And he knows how to stay connected to his fans. And….I love opera. *confession*

For so many of these reasons, I hoped they could get to know one another. I thought it would be good for DA to learn from Nathan some easy ways and habits to stay connected with fans. I thought he might respect his opinion and example, just for the kind of guy he is.

Nathan saying he loves DA, learns from him, and respects him…..well, DA has been studying “performing” like Nathan has been studying Latin. ^_^ (Opera singers command the stage with their voice and presence. They live in the story and make the story come alive. This is a different type of “performance” than the singers DA has been studying. Nathan could learn a lot!)

Also, DA is just a genius at “listening” to the heart of a song… the heart of the message the writer is offering, the heart of the signature sound (if he is covering a song), and his own heart as he confesses his meaning in his own inimitable way.
Then he wraps all of this in the sound God gave him and gifts it to the sky.

I don’t think there will ever be another DA.

I am so grateful to live in the times we have now, where all over the world and within hours, I can listen to and share music, experience, joy, and wonder with so many people whose generosity and talents help bring these people into my home and heart.

Just, thank you!! And, Thank you, DA, for not giving up.

Just watched “Mary’s boy child”. A “masterclass” in “performance”.

Top. Notch. Every movement accentuates the sound, emotion and delivery. He has always engaged the audience, just because he is DA he stands out, but his skills…..man, he is so much more in control, so much more able to use movement naturally as part of the song rather than something he has to do while he is singing.

You blow em all away. Every time, DA. So proud of you!!!!

Thanks for kind words on the pic. Kari took the pic on my Iphone. Now every time I pick up my phone I am thinking I have a photo record of an evening with David and Nathan in my hands. Whew! I sent it to my granddaughter and she sent back “Nice arm candy”. Ha ha Better than chocolate.

Commute home yesterday was horrid. Spent 8 hours on the road, mostly whiteout and icy. I knew there was a massive truck right in front of me but could not see it. Every time a truck passed me I was drowned in slush. Saw a horrible accident. Some slide offs. When I finally got home and saw my car covered with ice and frozen crap I was grateful I did not travel on a motorcycle.

Shelley, Shirley and Geri met me at the front door of the venue, and we happened to have adjoining front row seats. Could not have asked for a better crew. We could talk constant David. And we did.

I see Shelley posted The Little Drummer Boy from the VIP. I rest my case. The video does not quite capture the electricity of David losing himself in that song. The “wow” at the end is from me. Shirley helped get me back to earth. Or somewhere near it.

Want to talk more about Idaho, but have mundane things that must be done. Later.

Next stop Layton with Tawna. Yayy.

Whew! Dayzee, you made it!!!! I was worried about you all day yesterday, knowing what the northern weather was doing. So glad you were protected and made it safe and sound. I honestly don’t think I could have done it… I’d have found a motel to hole up in. 😉 As if I don’t have kids and grandkids to worry about … now I have another Grandma David Fan to worry about. 😀 Love ya!!

Yes sir!! Layton coming up! My tickets are on the nightstand just waiting to go into my purse. And, we may be in some sketchy weather for this. But, I got a hotel room waiting for me so our travels will be during the day.

And, we must hear more about Idaho!!!

Bluesky, Isn’t it great that we have these voices to soothe and fill us when we need that lift. I’m so grateful.

Dayzee, you are one brave lady!!! I want to be like you when I grow up! Be safe and we’re here for one the mundane things are completed 🙂

Tawna, Hotel rooms are good 🙂 Idaho coming up!

Abrra, that is a great article! Interest radius agreement but not for David lol They didn’t mention St George or all the travelers so it is pretty impressive with this young man is accomplishing doing it his way.

Wouldn’t it be great if he showed up at that birthday party? If he did it wouldn’t surprise me. David surrounded by seniors and kiddos, all in a days work 🙂

I want to talk about the Rexburg show. That venue was enormous. Not so big on the front rows, but the audience chairs fanned out at the rear to host an enormous crowd. And the balconies were even wider. And believe me, there was not an empty seat.

My daughter and I went to the early dinner in the grand ballroom. There were a few hundred guests at the tables. Again, no empty seats and they had set up as many tables as they could possibly jam in there. My daughter mentioned that everyone in there was really old. Then her eyes got wide and she said, “Sorry, I forgot you were old”. Haha. She is 50 herself.

Most of the audience were older couples, but as we found our seats there were 2 girls around 17 years old sitting next to us. They were exuberant in their talk of David. We sat through an hour of not David. Earlier when I read the program I had thought David would follow Nathan. But no. There was something else. And then something else. I was thinking I would dig up my program and check, but I saw the girls had their program out and were searching with their cell phone lights. One said to me “Where’s David?” “Where is he?” asked her friend. Finally David appeared and they were ecstatic. I took a pic with my cell. They couldn’t wait to bring out their phones and get their own pics. They saw my phone wallpaper. Before they left they both had new wallpaper on their phones. They were so appreciative of David and every thing he did, said or sang. When it was all over I told them I thought they were great fans. They told me they were blessed to have me as a seat neighbor. Haha. That was a new one for me.
