David Archuleta ~ Christmas Concert BYU Rexburg, Idaho 12/3 “15,000 Soldout!”

REXBURG — This year’s Brigham Young University-Idaho Christmas concert has proved to be a historic event for the university.
It is the first time BYU-Idaho has ever sold out a concert in the BYU-Idaho Center, where Saturday’s concert will be held.
Don Sparhawk, coordinator of the Center Stage Performing Arts Series, would say the BYU-Idaho Center is the biggest auditorium in Idaho and one of the largest in the country. It has been filled before, such as for devotionals at which prominent members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were speaking, but it has never before sold out.
Even when the Mormon Tabernacle Choir came to perform at BYU-Idaho, just 12,000 seats were filled.
Sparhawk said he thought with 15,000 tickets available that everyone who wanted to go would be able to get a ticket. However, multiple people have been posting on Facebook in search of tickets, some appearing desperate to get them. Some have even sold the $15 tickets for more than the purchased price — for up to $25 or even $35.
Sparhawk said he found it amazing that there is still such a demand for the tickets.
He thinks the overwhelming response to this particular concert may be due to a combination of the popularity of the Christmas concert itself and the popularity of David Archuleta’s Christmas music.
The center seats 15,000 people.

Wowzers! Dja, thanks for this ‘behind the front row’ look at the BYU-I Center. Man, if you’re in those back seats you’re going to be watching those big screens pretty intently! Although the LDS Conference Center holds more people, it just doesn’t seem like it stretches back as far. And, I’m very impressed that this concert has become a sell-out. Never doubt what David Archuleta is capable of doing. He is gathering fans like a snowball going downhill! I think we have probably been given our answer to the question of why the dress requirements. I still think a nice pants outfit would fit the bill just as well.
Okay, I’m ready for the next evening at the concert. Bring it on!! Is Dayzee headed to this one? I can’t remember.

Tawna, glad you got the voting down 👍
I don’t remember if Dayzee is going to Rexburg but I hope she is! It’s incredible that people are still trying to find tickets! I think nice pant outfit would be fine.
Hi Pat! I think slow and steady is working just fine for David. Though I can’t how his voice gets better with every concert😳

It was great Tawna! And the one I seen on FB Nathan said they were taping it and it will be shown on BYU channel. That will be so awesome. Maybe they will sell it also , like they did when David sang with the MTC. Love that video…but I love anything David does or sings! 🙂
I wore pants to the MTC when David sang there and there wasn’t any problem. All of us fans that went together had pants on. It was quite cold with some snow on the ground…I would have froze to death waiting in line 1 1/2 hrs for the book signing if I hadn’t had pants and boots on. A nice Christmasy top or sweater would be great. I don’t mean the ugly sweater thingy either. haha
Thanks for the post Dja…David sure keeps you busy, but I know it’s a labor of love.
All my blood work came back good! Don’t know what I had, never had it before and never want it again! 🙂 David here I come! ♥

My daughter and I are heading to Idaho. That soundcheck was so beautiful. A taste of things to come. I’ll come home Sunday and leave Monday on a solo trip to Boise. Hoping for no snow on the roads. I have had some pretty exciting (scary) trips coming home from Idaho.
It does not surprise me that Rexburg could sell 15,000 tickets. The last time I was there for David he was the talk of the town. Every place I went people were talking about David. The hotel, the bookstore, the restaurant, the museum, the grocery store. Many places had his music playing, the bookstore had a video going. I went to Rexburg by myself that time but never felt alone. Everyone spoke my language.
Well, here we go!

Thank for posting Kristen! I’m out on soccer field all day with grandkids and have sketchy connection lol
What a beautiful analogy. I’ve always said David is deep. He continues to impress me at every turn. And that tree is a beauty. I wonder where it’s at? David preparing for show with 15,000 in attendance. I think this is the biggest crowd since his return. He’s probably excited and nervous rolled into one.
Back to the soccer field ⚽️

Dayzee, have an awesome evening!! I know you will. 😀
But, please, please, please be beyond careful when you head up to Rexburg! I worry when you go solo!
Jans, on the taping of the show, I think it was Nathan that said that it would be out next year on PBS at Christmas time. Like they do with the MoTab concerts — a year later they show them. We can always hope that it will come out this year, though! I’m so glad that your lab work came back in the clear! Some of those bugs that catch us can be really nasty guys to get rid of. Stay on the mend! ♥♥

Best wishes to all going to the concert tonight including Dayzee and Jans. Jan, glad you’re feeling better!
Listening to the you tube in comment 9, the soundcheck for “O Holy Night”. David’s soundchecks are like the real thing. Been listening to him sing this song for many years now and except for one time when he stopped to give direction to someone, I can no longer tell the difference between sound check and the live performance. He’s so under-rated it’s not funny.
When David’s Christmas cd, “Christmas From The Heart” came out a few years ago people laughed when I said it was Grammyworthy. I still stand by my opinion.
On to the show….

You can color me really confused! Who sang what on the program tonight? No OHN? Guess we’ll be hoping for some ninja vids — I would assume that no videoing was very much in place tonight!!
In the meantime, I’ll keep listening to David sing “The Mouse and the Cat”. 🙂

Tawna, I have to say that the program looked different tonight for sure. Also, thanks for clarifying the taping and showing on tv stuff that Nathan was talking about. 🙂 I am hoping for some ninja vids too. 🙂 Just a few little bitty, sneaky ones…. 🙂
Bebe, I didn’t go tonight. I will be going to the Vegas and Mesa concerts with Dayzee. 🙂 Thanks for thinking of me anyway! 🙂 I am with you on saying David is underrated…and that his Christmas album is grammy worthy for sure. People just doesn’t know good music when they hear it any more. I keep thinking of what Paula said about can’t wait til the whole world hears him and that he will be a super star! Maybe he will get there yet…still hoping…he is totally worth it! ♥ He will always be my super star!

Tawna I love the mouse and the cat! Good choiice
When I saw that program it looked like David was singing 3 songs and one of those a duet. The program was very loosely followed. David sang a small part in a Spanish song with the combined chorus and then we did not see him again until one hour and ten minutes into the show.
But once he got on stage everything was great. He did sing OHN and My Little Prayer. He sang about 7 songs.
I did not see anyone I knew. My daughter and I wore the required dresses and counted only 6 rebel women in pants. While we were trying to find where we had parked the car my daughter said she thought that Nathan fellow had a terrific voice but when David came out he was far and away better than anyone else.

Abrra, thank you for all of the Rexburg tidbits. And, as usual, OHN was beyond beautiful! And the puzzle… gorgeous! That signature smile lights up the world. 🙂
Dayzee, I’m so glad to know that David sang more songs than what the program outlined. Drive safe as you head out to Boise. It’s quite a long drive. {{hugs}}

Thanks, Abs and @davidarchie for the super colorful puzzle. You’re right, Tawna, his signature smile does light up the world! Every other singer might as well quit…we only need David! 🙂 lol
Safe travels, Dayzee. ♥

I’m hoping the Rexburg concert gets televised on BYU TV because I have that channel on my DirectTV. I had read it might be televised next year on Idaho PBS which would not do me any good since I live in Iowa. We always hope for a DVD of David’s shows but so far when he sang for the Christmas program with MoTab that is the only show that we could purchase on DVD. Here’s hoping we will all be able to see a professionally done video of the Rexburg concert because it looks like it was awesome!

On the road. Blue skies and mostly ice free roads. Beautiful day for a drive. And a prize at the end of the road keeps me smiling.
80 mile speed limit all the way in Idaho. I’ve been through Eden, Bliss and Paradise Valley. Seems like a happy place but the Snake river meanders all the way through it. Could be ominous.
