A happy day-after-Thanksgiving to everyone! How fun it is to see the fun little things that have brought David joy in the past few days.🙂
Dayzee and Bluesky, I’m seriously dreading the traffic surrounding BYU on Saturday. One event makes it frustrating, but three of them will be treacherous! Be safe on the highways. I live 20 minutes away, and will probably have to leave 3 hours early!!😉 Oh, and the going home traffic!! Well, I’m hoping to meet up with you there at some point! It will be worth it! ♥

I’m getting super excited to see this concert — regardless of the sports games and traffic issues that will be present!! 😀

Oh my! Bow tie!
I have really enjoyed Nathan and was happy to have him share the stage with David. Nathan came out, sang 5 or 6 songs. He was great. I loved it. Then he started singing Drummer Boy. A huge bag of negative dumped on me. Horrid things ran thru my head. I wanted to scream: Stop it! Don’t sing David’s song. Dangit now David won’t be singing this song How could you? Don’t you have a clue?
A few bars into the song and Nathan reached out his hand to David, who came on the stage and they sang The Drummer Boy together. It was heaven. I could not have asked for more.

Oh, Fen, it was really a David Archuleta concert. Nathan opened, then sang a couple of songs with David, then David sang a whole bunch but not enough songs and then David and Nathan sang The Prayer as the encore.
David sang Numb towards the end. He had spoken very little until then, but rambled on as he does when introducing Numb. Then he stopped. “Sorry I took up so much of your time. I wasn’t going to do that tonight”. Haha Doesn’t he realize we travel great distances and pay money for him to take up our time?

OMG What a gorgeous White Christmas! This version sounds even better than the old one. I need the whole song. Hope Shelley or some other fan has it. If not, I could well be happy with just that “children listen” on repeat till Christmas comes.
Was he wearing a blue jacket with a white shirt and red ochre pants and dark blue/black bow tie?
Was The Drummer Boy the Dapo version?
Was there no sign of O Ven O Ven at all?

Dayzee and Tawna! My hopes of seeing you guys were small as I thought the venue was the huge arena. Since it is the concert hall then maybe? I will be up in the mezzanine, my favorite seats. If you see a tall fellow who makes you think of Justin T, that’s my son. ^_^ (we say JT was just lucky enough to look like him. But seriously, he has had tweeties ask him for his autograph!)
The motherly figure next to him will be me, his mom.
This is my David. He is a fan of DA and has accompanied me to many concerts.
He will be driving, needless to say!!
To have DA and Nathan together the same night …… makes me very 😊
My heart is full of gratitude for this great opportunity. I wish I could take you all with me.

Let me just say these things first before throwing my opinion in the ring here: Jan, please get well soon so sorry you are under the weather!! That’s never fun. Grammyj I heard about that LOL that was funny poor David!! Bluesky thank you for sending over any vids from last night didn’t get to watch them yet but will in a minute. Abrra, the pic you just shared brought a smile to my face when I saw it on Twitter that bow tie is also adorable hehe
Anyway, hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!! Let me just say that I don’t have as much concert experience as the rest of you, David or not. I only been to a few once in a while so I can’t speak for myself regarding the comments you guys shared today. Which hey I respect everyone’s opinions even if I disagree with some of them. But here are my thoughts: I found myself this morning wishing there were fan videos and this is coming from someone who used to complain about them months ago because of feeling left out etc etc…also wish there was a vid of Joy to the World gah he finally sings that!! That’s one reason the tour in general got me reacting as I did…
But I had a change of heart after the Tuacahn shows and those videos actually made me hopeful again so in case I never got to say thank you, thank you to all who took video during those shows and the fan lunch. I found my hope returning because of them.
Tawna, I do agree probably last night there were a lot more season ticket holders than “fans”, but I want to add to your thought: yesterday was also the day after Thanksgiving, aka Black Friday. Another possibility is hey people are tired after seeing family and friends, any Christmas shopping they might have done and so on. So maybe people wanted to be enthusiastic for David but were just too tired not to unfortunately. So I wouldn’t say not everyone was being stuffy, some oh yeah probably but many others were probably tired and just wanted to enjoy a Christmas show and David probably stunned people that they didn’t know how to respond lol that’s happened to me on numerous occasions. He sings or says something and I never know how to react except with big eyes and sometimes a jaw drop haha.
Which, didn’t his last Christmas tour start on December 1st if memory serves me right? Never said this until now but found it strange on starting a tour the day after Thanksgiving but hey at least these shows are in Utah while home with family so that would make sense.
Dayzee, I just pray any rowdyiness doesn’t become a riot that might scare David off. Some people just take a show differently and again day after Thanksgiving. Also regarding your reaction to Nathan singing Little Drummer Boy before David came on, and I mean this in the NICEST way possible, RELAX. OK? David still came out and it was lovely! Bummed there’s no video of that either 😦 I understand your reaction regardless. That’s happened to me a few times like now that David covered Don’t You Worry Child I forgot when Sons of Serendip from America’s Got Talent sang that song during their stint on the show and again on their debut album. Their rendition was awesome and I still love it but I’m like…eeehhh…haha. I will probably shrug off anyone who covers it afterwards. I still do whenever someone on one of those shows covers Imagine. IMO, should have been retired after David sang it :D. So really I get your reaction but…for me I wouldn’t think don’t you have a clue or how could you. But of course we all think of horrible things we regret later. In the past few years that unfortunately became a norm for me by wanting to react nastily instead of compassionately with certain things (and that included fan stuff) but I thankfully, and hopefully, am moving past that.
Like I said guys I think in the last thread or the one before that forget which one that’s why I say I’m inadequate as a fan because I’m just mellow. I’m serious and don’t scream and yeah I would cheer for David but…well I’m just me take it or leave it and that has bothered some fans in the past (not here but elsewhere). Plus, I’m guarded in some ways aka have some chips on the shoulder XP. Might be a good forewarning when I do meet some of you at a show if it puzzles or surprises people that I don’t react in a certain way. Just get me talking about David, writing or cats and I’ll open up lol. Mom even asked me a couple days ago have I ever sobbed seeing someone at a concert and I said no haha!
Also, I talked with my best friend about the Numb thing. She actually shared David’s post of the video on Facebook and wanted to wait until she was home for break to watch it because she’d be able to focus on it more…when I told her how I was feeling she felt terrible and did apologize. So we’re good now 🙂 Another friend also told me she has been called out by other friends regarding tardiness of text messages. I didn’t do that because that’s not a reason to. Shows how much faith, and confidence, I still need to work on, and not just with David. When I found out he’s been trying all this time to find venues for east coast shows, I felt terrible and so guilty because of the awful thoughts I had. I wish faith and confidence could be easier than it is sometimes.
I hope I didn’t upset anyone with my thoughts I just felt like I wanted to add other possible reasons and not be so quick with how people do or do not react. We’re all different and the holidays just happened. Like you guys told me with my friends, can’t control how others feel about the guy and should focus on the own happy David world hehe. That’s all that really counts :).

Just home from the concert. I think I know why there is not more noise during the songs, especially those “glory notes”. At least, I can share how it felt for me…
During fun concerts with fun songs, it seems somehow appropriate to cheer out loud when the singer hits a big note with a lot of feeling. But tonight as I watched those around me, even some who were nodding, swaying, or tapping feet, they would lean forward in anticipation, hands at the ready – almost holding their breath for the final moment when they could burst their silence, cheer, shout, call, and clap. They simply did not want to miss any portion of any moment by distracting themselves by calling out or shouting.
Sort of like the difference between telling each other you really like the food – or just silently, reverently, and gratefully licking your plate.
There were a LOT of “plate-lickers” there tonight. Plates got really clean. No crumbs left behind. Every sound, breath, note, and emote was completely cherished. And revered. Appreciated. Valued.
That was certainly my experience.
My favorite solo: Riu, Riu. (Because I love not only his singing, but the whole arrangement is flawless art. Beautiful!) Mary did you know, came in a close second place. With a GREAT guitar acc.
The duets were to die for. Oh my gosh, what I would give to have their Drummer Boy on a CD!
The “story telling” had even my son David (they are the same age) rolling his eyes, groaning, and laughing. It is something one has to experience. His humor cannot be explained, sounds too corny to be real, and is its own set-piece as part of DA’s inimitable performance.
Summary:
Being more firmly grounded has only resulted in higher and longer and greater spans of soaring wing, a gentler sweep, a stronger beat, a smoother flight.
We simply did not want to touch down. His voice actually seems of a substance substantial enough to hold us all aloft, tethered together by song.

Tonight’s concert was indescribable! The venue has beautiful acoustics. Perfect for two beautiful voices. The band was outstanding, as usual. They were feeling the vibes going on tonight. Some of us saw some of them leave the building. When they came back they were laughing and having a good old time. About an hour later they were on stage and putting forth some music that was all sorts of serious stuff. Eric was playing some seriously amazing notes on the string bass.
Nathan Pacheco has a voice that makes you fall in love with it and him! He’s very witty and engaging, too. 🙂 I could enjoy one of his concerts.
David is the Spirit of Christmas all tied up in a white shirt, bow tie, blue jacket, and reddish pants!! His voice is so calming, so mellow, never forcing a note out of that lovely throat of his. It just amazes me. I really hope some videos show up. The Little Drummer Boy went to another level tonight. As we were filing out, I was walking next to a couple of ladies that were amazed at the voices they had just heard. The were so impressed with how well David and Nathan blended their voices. One made the comment that even though the two sing so completely different on their own, their voices harmonize and meld together so well. I silently agreed completely. When they sang The Prayer — oh my! Hearing them live on this was an epic experience I will never forget. There was such passion in every word and note. They felt it, we felt it! The look between them when it ended was almost romantic. Romantic as in their voices and spirits had just created something out of this world! I’m so happy to be fortunate enough to be able to attend tonight. It brought me joy. Thank you, David, for sharing your world with us. ♥♥

One other note on Nathan:
My mom is the one who introduced me to opera and opera singers. Watching her enjoyment and gaining appreciation from her has made a special place in my heart for that genre.
I love listening to Nathan anytime. His love of music and enthusiasm are contagious. When he sings what I call “regular songs” I sometimes just smile, cause I can hear that he is driving a Porsche around the park, just for me. Then when he steps it up with Nessun Dorma, he finally relaxes and takes that baby full throttle careening around scenic mountaintops, wind making us breathless, having the time of his life.
One other time he has such fun relaxation is when he sings with DA.
Although it is not his home genre, because of what I might call their “linked level of musicianship” and complete trust in each other, the effect is …….. well…….kind of like I’m a little kid and the big kids let me come to their party, and watch them play.
I think they subconsciously push each other as well as support each other. For me, it is truly pure enjoyment.
And DA:
His voice, delivery, nuance, pacing, rhythm, have never been better. I can tell that he is taking care of it, that he is consciously cherishing the gift. Because he knows better what he wants to do with the gift, he is better able to own and value it. This bodes well for all of us, his fans.
Love, bluesky

Bluesky, I’m sad I didn’t get to see you last night. 😦 I did see Dayzee and Oddity and got to talk to them a bit. My hubby wasn’t up to walking much on his leg, so I didn’t spend a whole lot of time wandering around and leaving him to fend for himself. He cracks me up. He tells everyone that I introduce him to, or those that he knows from our real life that happen to be there, that he is there as my chauffeur. Oh, and he would rather have been sitting in the 50 degree, very windy night air watching the football game that was across the campus from where we were! Yeah right!! That’s why he’s been sitting here by me watching the videos that have been posted! I’ll keep him though. He’s become a habit that I don’t want to break. 🙂
I love every word that you wrote about the concert, Bluesky. Your descriptions and observations in #44 and #47 are right on the money! Thank you for bringing them here.
Jans, I honestly found myself totally mesmerized, at times, last night. It felt like, when David would raise his hand and sway it around, in his graceful fashion, that he was levitating my whole body and soul off the ground. There I would float until the final note of his song and his gentle hand movements would bring me back down into my seat. I will complain about one thing from last night …. those seats were not built by a short person with other short people in mind! But, when you’re being floated away, the condition of the seat that you’ve been sitting in is no longer an issue. 🙂
Thank you for the puzzle, Abrra. That smile.. that face.. perfection!

Yesterday I thought I was having the perfect day. Still floating a bit from the night before. Got to sleep in a little. My friend Carolyn (Oddity) and I headed south for lunch with David fans. So great to spend those nervous preconcert hours with people of the same ilk. We leisurely discussed all things David. Having been warned of a shortage of parking spaces, we were anxious to get to the venue early. I mean, like three hours early. The building doors were unlocked and we were free to roam inside. Only the concert hall doors were locked. Very nice to be out of the weather. There were 4 of us, then 6, then a dozen. When someone new came through the doors we would all look up, and sure enough, the newcomers were our friends. Soon 40 or 50 people had gathered in the lobby and no one was a stranger. How cool is that? To go to a concert with 50 of your dearest friends? We sat around telling David stories.
Several of us were watching for you Bluesky, but somehow we missed you. You really were missed.
We watched them set up the merch table. Some of us wandered over and they told us they were not ready. Come back after 6. We came back and they were still not set up for credit cards. How fun to see people waiting to pounce on items for sale. They did a brisk business.
As the concert unfolded I felt this was so perfect. And then BAM! David was singing The First Noel and my perception of perfection expanded to a whole nother level. Wow! It was good to have Oddity to hang on to. This not being my first concert I knew these things happened, but there is no preparation for moments like that. Those glory notes are still swimming in my head.
Thanks to Bluesky and Tawna for sharing. Do I need to say that they are not rowdy? I was only kidding my two friends.
Jan, hope you are feeling well.

I will put MP3’s and MP4’s of these videos from Dorothy Johnson in the Candy Jar. I’ll put the first song ‘s title of each file because they won’t be separated. I’ll number them so you can put them on a CD or in iTunes in order. He left out Silent night this time.
The folder won’t be fully finished until the end of the tour. Also, I tend to swap out files when a better video view or audio becomes available. If I make a change I’ll post a notice with the folder link again. Nathan’s video is missing as I have to flip it upright. I’ll add it in later today.
