Been thinking….
I’m so glad that I was able to witness David through his ‘growing’ years. The time when he was hanging onto the mic stand for dear life in his baggy pants and T-shirts. Oh, and the scarves.

Then he became like a spring, bouncing around the stage carrying the mic with him, killing us with flirty eyebrows, and wearing better fitting jeans and different kinds of shirts (there was that awesome pink shirt and still the scarves) and had the amazing hair styles.

But now, I’m perfectly content with who David is. What he has become. Still the handsome, humorous and witty David that we’ve been watching since 2007, but a man who is comfortable with who he is. A man who isn’t afraid to tell the world what he’s thinking and how he got to the point he is at now. A performer who has developed more fashion sense in the clothes he wears on stage (we’ve still seen some scarves 🙂 ) and yet isn’t afraid to wear the most wrinkled shirt in the closet around town, if that’s the mood he’s in.

I do miss the amazing hair, but I also don’t mind the toned down look — he wears it well. With the head of hair he owns… wow! I love when he uses the flirty eyebrows and points those long fingers, and dances little snippets of fancy footwork here and there. No bouncing around, but some seriously great stage presence (he owns it).

I’m just happy to be a fan of the most beautiful and versatile Voice on the planet. And, of the most beautiful, inside and out, honest man that owns that Voice. The Voice that is definitely a gift and a treasure. The Voice that David uses to make others happy and peaceful.

Thanks, Tawna and Bebe. As long as David sings, I don’t care what he has on. Even though I have wondered through the years why he wears wrinkled shirts sometimes. 🙂 But I don’t care because when he sings he puts it all out there and we take it all in, and that happens whether he had on a wrinkled shirt or decked out in a tux. 🙂 I agree, Tawna he is so beautiful inside and out, totally honest. Like we have said before, he is the total pkg! His singing just floors me every time he opens his mouth! Can’t get over his version of White Christmas! Just today, I was showing “The Prayer” to my granddaughter and she was saying that he never changes. But he still has that big ol’ heart!

I don’t know how I got so lucky to be a fan of this wonderful soul and to have gained the beautiful friendships I have , and traveled to so many fantastic show where we have had so much fun. I am so excited to see what David will gift us with this next year and I am so honored to be his fan. God is good!!! He gifted David with a beautiful voice and also has shown him the way to reach out and touch the world with his beautiful heart and soul. Thank you for your heartfelt words.

Ain’t that the truth!! Truly a most amazing journey with David.. through the early years to the present.Not just watching him grow from young boy to man, but to see how it transitions onto the stage.
Coming back to performing after being away from it all for so long, the “warm up” concerts has been (for me) like watching him “fast forward” through the first concert in VA beach many years ago,to the last of the Christmas concerts that we just saw. EEP! I really do believe we need to stay buckled up.gives me chills just thinking about it.

Jan…. it’s that big ol’ heart that keeps pulling us in… even through the drought times we could feel his heart.
Abrra… it’s a hard concept for me to wrap my head around…. David is almost 25! I kind of choked on that when my sister asked me, at the Layton concert, how old he is. It, honestly, has been like watching my own kids get older. It happens right under our noses and we don’t realize that it is going on.
Gwen… we are very lucky, aren’t we, to be a fan of David, and what an experience it has been to develop friendships that never would have happened if not for him. God has been very good to us!
Bebe… thanks for the pictures…. seriously, how did you see inside my head to know what photos I was seeing when I was writing?! 🙂

“through the growing years, *sniff* ~ serious tears mainly because time has gone by so fast throughout this journey but SO much has happened, as in all phases of life. It’s been an up & down kinda’ rollercoaster ride at times…more so for David than us I would venture to say. I have eased into being comfortable with the changes ~ so glad THAT finally happened or I would have been more crazy than I am right now 😉 At last, we have the comfort of knowing David is content with his life & career, wherever that may take him. Thanks Tawna for your spot-on recap and thanks Abrra for turning my David Archuleta/CFTH ornament treasure into a puzzle…was fun to work and even more fun to remember my Baltimore/Lyric House/one & ONLY “front row” experience 😉

Great article, Tawna! I love how you simply and beautifully summarized so many years. (He was 15 when he tried out… does that mean we as fans are almost ten years old?)…. (What does one do for a ten year anniversary?)
I have loved watching him grow and learn – in his own way – to just be himself. What a gift he has given to himself and to us vicariously by being true. I don't mean that there haven't been bumps at times. But that is part of the beauty: that our journeys do not have to be perfect in order to be perfect for us. By his hanging in there, and dealing with his own heart, he knows his own heart better.
Since this is the heart that filters all the music he brings to us…. I would not have it any other way.
Be true, DA! Be true! Just by that act, you increase courage in the world for all those who seek, whatever their beliefs.
And then of course, you sing. And the heavens listen, our hearts learn new cadences of harmony, and our spirit-eyes open a little further to what is real.

Your original comment was so share-worthy that we just had to snag it and have some fun with it.
It’s unusual for me to be a fan of a performer who is just starting out in the business. I usually get there after they have paid their dues and decided on the course they want to follow. I miss all the hard times which is a lot easier on the nerves. lol
I remember everything you mentioned, the flirty eyebrows, the assortment of scarves, hugging the mic and the jumpy dances. Who knows, we might see remnants of all of those things again one day. haha Never say never when it comes to The Voice. haha

My hubby was into some serious health issues and Elvis kept me company while hubs was in the hospital. I spent an immediate fortune on CD’s. 🙂
When I was down at my daughter’s home on Friday, I noticed her CFTH ornament hanging in the middle of the tree…. where it won’t get whacked with the tails of two big labrador ‘house dogs’. It made my heart happy. ♥

Yes Tawna! I am and always will be a forever fan of David! I am one of his fans that has followed his progress since he was 11! I saw the Jenny Jones Show performance and was also a Star Search fan. Although I preferred Ed McMahon’s version, Arsenio’s is where I heard “The Soul Man from Utah”! It has been quite the ride following this awesome young man! I couldn’t be more happy for him as he is following his heart and in doing that he is better than ever!

I notice that sometimes the Instagram and Twitter photos get reversed some how when they are posted.
I flipped the image and this is what it should be. It’s hard to tell sometimes because his face is so symmetrical. The hair will usually be the tip off that its reversed.
