David Archuleta ~ On Another Topic by Bluesky
Posted by djafan on Tuesday, November 17, 2015
When I started seeing the #PrayForParis tweets I wondered what had happened, why the hashtag? I googled it and found out that a horrific act against France had taken place. It brought back memories of the terror we experienced here and that other countries face every day. I then got a notification of David’s Instagram post and it comforted me.
I’m always impressed with David’s words, his genuine compassion and care for others as I am with Bluesky’s thoughtful comment that had to be shared.
On another topic—
When I think of the happenings in the world, the huge sadness, the grief, the chaos, the anger, and for some – the despair, I am tempted to think, “What difference does a song make? What difference does one person make? What difference can kindness make? Are we to be overwhelmed by darkness, pain, misery, discouragement? Is goodness too simple an answer?”
When I feel those temptations crawling towards my heart, I do my best to remind my self that light is always stronger than darkness, and that the action of one kind deed can be more meaningful than many contending voices. One by one, united by a strength greater than our own and faith in the only things that outlast time: truth and love, we become more than we know. We do more than we could ever do alone.
DA is one who shares, searches for, and testifies of that kind of light and hope. Sometimes it takes courage to be a person of faith. But when that faith (whatever it may be) is grounded in and reaches for the best in all of us, then – believe in it. Believe. Hold hands. Join hearts.
Like DA – we can have the courage to “sing”.

Oh my goodness, Bluesky! What a beautiful message this morning. Believe in your faith, whatever it is, and have courage to live it. Sometimes it’s hard, but we can do hard things. Thank you!

Dja, I appreciate your bringing this topic to our attention. It is so indicative of David’s character that he would feel the need to send us a message of peace and hope.
And thanks to Bluesky for reminding us that one person, one kindness can make a difference. I have never seen David turn away from an injustice or a problem. He always meets obstacles head on and does his best to improve any situation. It is important to him to bring light to this world. Because of him I feel I must strive to follow his lead. I think of all the people whose lives David has blessed. Those people reach out to others because of David. And those people carry this caring and love to still others.
Jan and I were in St. George yesterday and met an elderly fellow who was serving a mission there. He told us of David’s visit to the missionaries last week. He had several pictures he had taken of David on his phone that he was pleased to show us. I could tell they were precious to him and felt honored that he would allow us to see them. He made it a point that we would understand how important it was to him that David would spend his time with them.
Do I sound like a fan? I am.

Dayzee, you are like the “Jimmy Olsen” of fandom: you can find DA news wherever you go! That is a great talent in and of itself. ^_^
Thank you for just being who you are.
And thanks to the Admins for posting this response from DA. I love it. I believe it.
What-a-guy. ❤

I love the way David responded to the bad things going on in France. That’s why we love him…for his character as well as his voice! 🙂 Will be heading home tomorrow, but had an absolute fantastic time! Dayzee is the hostess with the mostest! So nice and caring. Seeing David twice in a row and meeting all the great fans was awesome! Leaving me with great memories to go home with. Then will have to settle with watching Christmas videos since Layton is already sold out!!!
When the Elder that was showing his photos proudly I almost asked him if he could send them to my phone and share them!! 🙂 At least it was a passing thought! He was super proud of David as we all are. They were great photos too!
So glad to meet all you wonderful fans and can now put a face to you all!!

I am ashamed to admit that I was late in hearing the news of the attack on Paris. I rarely watch the news since 911. Now I have come to realize that it is a selfish act to ignore world events just because they might upset me. It’s also a helpless feeling to get such news after the fact, not that I can personally do anything to prevent bad things from taking place.
Then again. I think about what a song can do to soothe the hearts and souls of those in need. Just Imagine.

Abrra……believe me, I understand what you say. One wonders what possible difference they alone, can make. And these types of situations can easily make us feel overwhelmed, powerless, insignificant, alone. Even isolated.
Many of the people I know have the same reactions. As I said above, those feelings can scrape at my heart till I want to turn away from the pain. But that – speaking only for myself – can create a type of numbness, and I can find that numbness coming between my self and my power to act. Love both hurts and heals. And grief is a way to honor that which I truly value.
(A couple of DA song titles somehow seem to come to mind. ^_^)
I do not mean, in my comments above, to trivialize either the happenings – the challenges of our times – or the simple (yet profound) power of goodness.
I have been blessed often by the simple kindness of people who comment here. DA, in order to truly “sing”, has had to find a way to integrate his deepest life truths into his expression of life itself, and into his vocation. I am extremely blessed by his efforts.
My invitation – to sing – to be there for one another in whatever way we can….. Is simply an affirmation of light.
I believe in that light. Love you guys!

Well, I arrived home late last night as there was an hour layover and found out my furnace had went out and my printer wasn’t working! Welcome to the real world! 🙂 Luckily both were any easy fix, thank God, so even though today was a busy day, everything turned out ok.
I had made a small recap of the Tuachan concerts one or two posts back. It was kind of the last one before the post was changed, so don’t know if any one seen it or whether any one even cares to read it! 🙂 Just thought I would throw that out there since there isn’t too many commenting right now.
Bluesky, I appreciate you letting me tag a long in your pocket! 🙂 But I will have to peek out once in a while! 🙂 I hope there is a Periscope of the Christmas concerts, I know they are going to be excellent, as usual. Maybe he will sing some Christmas songs that he hasn’t sung yet. Whatever he sings, I know he’ll knock our socks off! 🙂

I would like to share one last thing on this “other topic”. The whole point of “terrorism” is to make people so afraid that they change their behavior and do not do what they normally would do – sometimes even the simple, good things – that bless and heal.
DA has already had challenges that would be major in a young life.
Because we did not know all of what was in his heart, we did not know the full extent of his courage. Each of us has courage, for some – to just live life day by day – takes a full amount. I am inspired by these people, who are all around me.
DA has chosen to sing and still be true to himself.
I am touched by his courage and the power-to-sound that emerges, full-throttle, from his soul.
I stand in awe and gratitude. He has accepted the “hill”. He has chosen to stand where his light can been seen to shine.
First Thanksgiving – and I have a lot for which to be thankful.
Then Christmas is coming. And I look forward to Joy. ^_^
Thank you, Dayzee for arranging the tickets for Layton. (yipeeee!!)
Jans, I remember your post. Loved it. ❤

Jans, I, too, remember your post about Tuacahn and the luncheon. And me too…. I can listen to that voice 27/7! I’m so glad we got to hang out a little bit down there. What a joy it is to meet up with the old acquaintances and meet some new ones… it’s all David’s fault! 🙂 🙂

Gladys. I totally understand what you are going through! Reading your experience will be fun whenever you post it. I have some photos of David I took the first night and still haven’t found time to get them sent… Seeing David twice in a row…wow! And it seems that every thing that I had seen and every where I went is still roaming around in my brain so I am so disembobbled (is that a word?) 🙂 Still trying to get my feet on the ground and that ain’t easy!!!! So glad to have met you, the luncheon was awesome!
Tawna, it was really nice to see you again. Hoping it won’t be another 4 years! 🙂 Yes, see what David makes us do! It’s so much fun!
Thanks, Bluesky. It’s so nice to have met you too and know who I’m talking to now! 🙂
It was also great to have met Carolyn (Oddity) and Pam at the small luncheon in SLC.
And another cheer for Dayzee for all she has done! Thanks so much!

Finally picked up my tickets to Layton today. It was my third attempt. First time was Veterans Day. Having been a government employee I should have known every government office closes for every holiday. Second time I was told the office had not yet processed the tickets, but my name was on the list. Third time today, I approached the door and read “closed” sign on the door. A plastic clock face said someone would return at 9:00. I checked my watch. 12:45. Hmmmm. Another sign said they would close at 1:00 today in prep of Thanksgiving. Checked my watch again. 12:46. Tried the door. Open, but dark inside. A fine fellow came from somewhere in the back of the building and YAYYY! my tickets were placed in my hands.
Appreciate the Happy Thanksgivings from Bluesky, Tawna and MT. Hope you all have a great day. I certainly intend to have me a full tummy and lots of fun conversations.
So now we are all jealous of the toll booth lady. Haha. She looks pretty happy to me. And he looks……..well, you know.
