Melodies Of Life ~ David Archuleta ~ by Staff Writer, MT

Posted by bebereader on Wednesday, May 27, 2015

mt1a (1)credit 8throwcenter

As I was thinking about the music David is writing and wondering what the music and lyrics will be like, I began mentally going through the albums he’s done.

The first was done with songs written primarily by others, but the second one, “The Other Side Of Down”, was filled with songs that David took part in writing. From what he’s told us, those songs are about his life and his struggles during that time. When he did the cover album “BEGIN.”, before he left, it was filled with songs meant to help others. It reflected his current mind set just before his mission.

David is now at a new stage in his life. The songs on the next album will most likely reflect where he is at this point in his life. If he continues to write his own songs, we’ll probably see all the stages of his life reflected in his music through the years, thus the inspiration for the following poem …

The Music Of Life

The music of life moves endlessly
Changing as it goes
What each stage of life will bring
No one ever knows

I will not be tomorrow
The person I am today
My song will change, as does my life,
So hear me when I say …

I cannot know what melody
Tomorrow’s love will bring
Or how events will follow me
As I raise my voice to sing

I’ll sing of precious moments
I’ll sing of the joy of life
I’ll sing of the pain that loss can bring
or sing of the afterlife

These melodies of events in life
Are what I have to give
They’ll change with time, the same as I
Evolving as I live

Take all these things I share with you
As I sing along the way
I’m giving you a piece of me
In the melody I play

Memorial Day ~ David Archuleta Patriotic Medley

Posted by djafan on Monday, May 25, 2015

Memorial Day has come to mean the beginning of summer, a time for picnics and barbecues, and a holiday to gather around the family. That happiness and freedom, however, is a product of the real cause for the holiday: the sacrifice made by men and women who have fought and died for the freedoms and liberties Americans hold dear. Memorial Day is a time to remember that the American way of life is not cheap but rather has been purchased by the lives and blood of so many who have sacrificed for us to live free and happily now.

The Price of Health

Posted by Abrra on Saturday, May 23, 2015

A tweet by fa3rygirl came to my attention recently. I recognized the name but had not seen her on fan sites for awhile. Her name is Sheila Roposa, a fan I had met a few times at concerts.

She is most memorable to me because of the compassion she showed to a young man named Michael. His dream was to attend a concert and meet David Archuleta. He was ill with cancer and had to be in a wheelchair. Not only did she get Michael to the show in Northhampton, MA, but she made sure he got to meet David backstage. This was not a simple task because there were 12 inches of snow on the ground. I will never forget the picture of David reaching out to Michael to say hello.

Sheila was tweeting about a GoFundMe page her family had set up. It is a crowdfunding platform that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents and illnesses. The company is based in San Diego, California. I clicked the link and read the story about how her daughter, Tiffany, was ill with Lyme disease. I came away with the feeling that this was nothing short of a tragedy. My heart went out to Tiffany and her family. It’s a helpless feeling when you are told that there isn’t any coverage for medicine that is desperately needed. I knew I had to do something to help spread the word about a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for Tiffany’s medical costs.

My hope is that Tiffany will get what she needs to get her life back. By sharing her story I hope to raise awareness about Lyme disease.

A message from Sheila:

My name is Sheila. My 15-year-old daughter Tiffany was bitten by a tick infected by Lyme Disease and several other infections two years ago. Her doctor at the time did not recognize the bulls eye rash and Tiffany went one year without any treatment while the Lyme Disease progressed.

Tiffany started taking antibiotics two years ago. Due to the infection being in her nervous system, brain, and heart, she has needed extended treatment, including IV antibiotics.

Recently she was placed on a PICC line, which is an IV line for antibiotics. Our health insurance would only cover one month of treatment. Tiffany started to improve once on the IV line, which is the only time in two years she had this much improvement, but due to insurance guidelines that only cover one month of treatment, the IV line was pulled today. We are setting up this account to try to get some funding to pay for Tiffany’s medical bills and additional time on the IV line.

Before getting sick, Tiffany was an active girl that played soccer and rode horses. For the last two years, Tiffany has been severely ill. She has been out of school with home tutoring as she can’t walk or sit in a classroom. She is bedridden a lot of the time. She has had numerous ER visits, doctor visits, hospitalizations, and sees several specialists for her brain and heart. She’s lost weight, had periods of paralysis, seizures, lost all her hair, has fluid around her heart, developed autoimmune disease, and countless other complications. She’s missing out on life.

We want Tiffany to be able to receive this treatment to get her life back. If you can, please consider donating. Any amount, no matter how small, will help. If you can’t donate (we understand not everyone is in the position to), please share this link with everyone you know and ask them to pass it on. http://www.gofundme.com/tiffanylymefund#

Update May 20, 2015

Hi, thank you everyone for all your help. We have now been able to schedule Tiffany an appointment with the Lyme Center of New England, which is a private facility. They will be able to further help her and maybe get her IV back in. We found out just with one medicine that her IV out of pocket will cost us $2,000 a month so we increased the goal, but we do now have enough to get things started, so thank you! Tiffany is feeling pretty sick still. She lost her hair again, but she’s handling it well. A neighbor and friend had her a wig made and people from the community donated to pay for it. So thank you to everyone for that also. We are very blessed. Sharing with everyone you know will help us so much. We’ve received donations from family and friends of people we know, so it does work! Thank you again to everyone.

Historical Colonial Theater

Colonial - Deep Love

Built by C.A. Spath, cashier of the Farmers and Merchants Bank; Dr. C.M. Cline, physician and S.K. Mittry, contractor: the Colonial Theater opened on November 10, 1919, at a cost of just over $175,000. It boasted one of the largest stages in the Intermountain West, a modern ramp (in lieu of stairs) to the balcony, a ventilation system, which circulated fresh air every five minutes and superb acoustics. Traveling vaudeville acts and minstrels entertained, as well as musical acts like John Phillips Sousa.

In 1929, it was renamed the Paramount Theater and began showing moving pictures. Sadly, it fell into disrepair in the late 1980’s and was closed.

In 1994, Dick Clayton, Sr. and his son Steve donated the theater to the Idaho Falls Arts Council, a private nonprofit organization.

The Idaho Falls Arts Council launched a capital campaign, known as the Phantom project. An anonymous donor challenged the community to raise half of the total cost and the Phantom would donate the remaining. The successful $4.2 million dollar campaign renovated the Colonial Theater and the adjacent buildings into a beautiful visual and performing arts center for the region.

Renamed for the Phantom donors, Miles and Virginia Willard, who also chaired the campaign, the Willard Arts Center now contains a visual arts building with galleries, classrooms, artist studios, meeting spaces for events, and much more.

Today the 988 seat Colonial Theater is one of three large theaters of historical significance which still remain in Idaho. In 2014 alone, the Colonial Theater played host to over 25,000 patrons.

David Archuleta ~ American Idol Ending It’s Run

Posted by bebereader on Monday, May 11, 2015

I wasn’t surprised when I read the news this morning that “American Idol” was ending it’s run after it’s fifteenth season, next year.  Just a little melancholy because it signifies the end of an era and where I was first introduced to David Archuleta.

I know that there are people who still watch, even David fans. But I haven’t watched the show since Season 7 except in bits and pieces.  I lost my faith in the show’s premise, to find the best singer. I mean, come on. Really??

The show declined in ratings after Simon left and I understand why. He’s as sharp as a tack at what he does and provided a lot of zingers and “did he really say that?” moments.  But, in my opinion, there’s no excuse for degrading and belittling contestants for the sake of entertainment. It got old.

Apparently they are planning a big hurrah for the last season. I will watch but only to see glimpses of David.

Here are links to articles, to read more.

Happy Mother’s Day ~ David Archuleta

Posted by bebereader on Sunday, May 10, 2015

FotoFlexer_PhotoThis old picture of David and his mother, Lupe has become a classic.  It’s posted here in honor of  both Mother’s Day and the seventh anniversary of his trip back home to Murray, Utah during his stint on American Idol. No matter how far, I hope David is able to spend Mother’s Day with his Mom this year.

David Archuleta ~ Glorioso Es

Posted by djafan on Tuesday, May 5, 2015

currentcredit Meet The Mormons

After the Youtube video for the Spanish version of “Glorious” was posted on this site, Gladys made this comment:

gladys1961 said
“The song is beautiful, David’s voice is sublime. It is different from the version in English. The lyric has totally changed.”

I was curious and asked Gladys if she would please transcribe the Spanish lyrics for us. When I read the Spanish lyrics and then translated them to English, I understood what Gladys meant. Although the sentiment is the same in both songs, the lyrics are very different. However, the song sounds just as beautiful in both languages.

David’s voice in Spanish has a natural flow. It may be because of his gift of combining the end of one word with the beginning of the next, weaving the lyrics together to create the melody.

What do you think?
