David Archuleta became a star when he was just 16. In 2008 he was runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.” He has released six albums and won numerous awards since then. In March 2014 David returned from a two-year stint as a full-time missionary in Chile eager to perform and record once again.
Since his return he’s traveled to the Middle East to perform for U.S. troops, recorded the song “Glorious” for the recently released “Meet The Mormons” movie, and been busy writing songs for a new album that will be released in 2015.

I just went thru the ‘purchasing tickets to a David Archuleta Concert’ panic!!! 🙂 🙂 Unfortunately I had to settle for general admission as the reserved seating was all sold, other than a few singles. Most likely to the season ticket holders for the amphitheater. Oh well, I will be in the same latitude and longitude (sort of) as the one whose voice makes me happy!! Guess I’ll be finding out what it’s like to stand in line for when the gates open (clears throat), I’ve never had to do that before. This should be interesting because my hubby will be with me. Maybe he will act as my bodyguard. 🙂
I’m excited to see other states opening up. Dear hubby wanted to go to Idaho Falls and not Layton, do you think I can persuade him to do both? Probably. He’s a pretty nice guy. 😉
Abrra, I love this fan site. I love being able to see, hear, laugh about, and learn all things David. But, I also love that we can spill some personal things now and then and we have worldwide friends that will listen to us with open hearts. ♥ ♥

Congrats on your tour tickets! Wear sneakers for the rush to the front. I suggest you and hubby practice before the show. Ha! I love that we have an international compliment of fans. Just look at who wrote the current article 🙂 Even though I refer to Gladys as my sis, I do consider all the fans as members of my David family.
My thoughts on David’s strategy is to take it slow and do a few shows out west to bank some cash so that he will be able to move around the country and remain profitable and not end up in debt. There isn’t really any rush. He doesn’t have to answer to anyone but himself.

HG has a new post. Just had to share this. (hope I don’t offend anyone)
“When folks wring their hands, worrying about whether David can fit into this current music industry, whether or not he can sell out a theater or stadium, I just care that he can make a record filled with songs that can transcend me from this world of darkness into one of light. I care that he can make me cry again, soothing my soul like a “Balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick world.”
Damn, when I think of the genius behind those words, uttered, moaned and crooned by some ancestral slave who bore the lash, the master’s penis, or the depraved hands of some slave trader or slave catcher, I remember our people can survive anything.
Our music told us so!
It is that same music that set David on fire, that reached him in his homogenous little world of Salt Lake City via media, and inspired him to become “Soul David,” not appropriating our culture but learning, crafting, and coming into his own Voice.
So, if David wants to take his time and figure out how best to use his Voice, I’m willing to give him that time. He doesn’t need to come out with crap music to beat a deadline. Not when we need real music and a real Voice to make the notes transcend through time and space in this time of darkness.
I love him for his realness and for his recognition that music can heal.
Indeed, Music can save us.
We’re all in need of salvation now, and the Voice could be that balm.”

Got my tickets!! Yay! Second row center. Feeling so lucky Just went to check ticket sales and David is the only performer at that venue that has “sold out” showing
Been away from here for a few days due to unexpected funeral. The final houseguest left yesterday and I am trying to catch up with David stuff (and cleaning up stuff). It was great to spend some time with David again. Yes Dja “I care that he can make me cry again, soothing my soul like Balm in Gilead”. Nothing like David when things are tough.

Thanks for the post, Dja! What a beautiful Amphitheatre. It warms my heart to see another concert sold out! I would love to see David’s reaction on it! 🙂 Doing it his way seems to be the right way! He is using the best guidance ever; his guided intuition sent from above.
4 Dja, very interesting post and words are so true. I can listen to any one of David’s songs and I always revel in that voice of his. The feeling I get when he draws me right into the song with him. I will always treasure that and will always be there for him. Not going any where….not me! 🙂
Golly, Dayzee, you sure are lucky to get sated with that great voice of David’s! Now I know I will have to rent out that spare bedroom for at least a couple of months! haha 🙂

Wish I could go to Utah, but I’m afraid it’s just too far for me right now. Still dealing with health issues. I think the best I could do is hang out in a Mexican Bakery in Nashville. If my sons heard me say that, they’d take my car keys so I couldn’t leave my apartment (lol). They think I’m crazy for following David anyway, even if it’s just on the internet. Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants, and hearing his voice and new music, I’m sure it would help heal my heart faster.

Love all you guys. Thanks for the well wishes. Just having a bout with Congestive Heart Failure. Sounds worse than it is. I have an appointment Fri. at a place called the Heart Failure Clinic. That’s not a very positive sounding name (lol). However, I will get better. I’m not ready to check out yet. I haven’t been to a David Archuleta Concert and that’s the only thing on my Bucket List. So, he has to come somewhere close to Louisville so I can see him. I did see him once when his Other Side of Down album was coming out. He did a radio promo thing with a bunch of other people. He only sang 4 songs and only had Mike on the guitar with him. I had to stand the whole time and wasn’t very close to the stage. I left as soon as he finished. So, I didn’t actually see a concert. I’ll be glad when there’s actual video to watch and new songs to hear. Can’t wait.

MT, I hadn’t realized those would be 3 nights in a row concerts. Makes sense though, as Idaho Falls is just up the road from Layton. Wow! I love being on the road for David. If it was David’s strategy to sell a bunch of tickets in Utah to get touring money, it is working, And those Idaho folks love David. Those tickets won’t last long. I see they figured out 2 nights were better than 1

SOLD OUT! Why am I not in the least surprised? David’s voice continues to touch a lot of hearts and as I read up earlier, “the heart wants what the heart wants”. I’m far from UT and ID. Very far. I’m with the crowd of people who have to hope David uses the profits he makes on these sold out dates to add more concert dates for those of us in the eastern and southern US of A. Congrats to those who were able to get tickets!
Since I’ve been watching the show “Nashville” which is filmed in Nashville, I’ve learned about local songwriters, some who are commissioned to write songs for the show. Other times they use a song that brings forth emotions relating to the current storyline. Needless to say, I get excited when I see tweets and Instagrams from Nashville songwriters who recently wrote with David and refer to him as “amazing” and “unbelievably talented”. The pic in comment #9 inspired me to send David a tweet tonight from The Voice about his songwriting.

I just looked for the performance you spoke of, but it might not be uploaded yet. I did find this video of Josh Groban singing the same song.
It may be a difference in musical styles that changes how we feel when hearing David sing Bring Him Home. I admit I am not a fan of Groban. His singing seems too operatic for my liking. He is an accomplished musician but just not my choice.

I love Josh Groban. His music got me through the last 7 months of my sisters illness and passing. I still cry when I hear his voice.
DA was just coming into view at that time. His music did not quite hit the same pathos for me then, in the same way. Not sure why. But he introduced me to Eva Cassidy. That was a true gift. Her song: “I know you by heart”, was exactly what I needed to hear for my sister.
Part of DA’s great gift, as I see it, is that he recognizes (he did from the beginning, listening to Les Mis) the soul’s need for and connection to music: the hunger within us all to connect at that level. It was never (for him) about just “entertainment”. He could hear Eva and instead of pulling back in his young self, as he might have due to shyness, he actually sought to have that kind of a connection. No wonder he goes to “a different place” when he sings.
And then – God gave him the gift, the heart, the sound, and the great desire. We are definitely the beneficiaries. I love DA. I love his sound, his journey, his courage, his uniqueness, all of it.
I will be forever grateful.
Some Eva, while we are sharing.

I’m painting the hall today. Luckily I ran out of paint and will need to finish tomorrow. Even more fortunate, I am busy lunch/shopping with my granddaughter tomorrow. So it will be Friday unless I can think up something else. A half painted hallway used to bother me a lot more than it does today.
What an awesome pic of David at #20. Thanks for reminding me I have not yet picked up my MTM copy. Close to the paint store is a Deseret Book with not only MTM but also yummy caramels. My day is looking up. Never thought I would be using David as an excuse to get me some caramels.

This fellow Ed Kenley must be a Superstar in Utah eh? 😉 There is a certain synchronicity we David fans experience. Have you ever had the radio on and 4 or 5 songs come on in an hour and they are all ones that David has covered? Happens to me often. I think it’s because David has the ability to select cover songs that resonate with one’s soul. So naturally they are the kind of songs that get listed on popular playlists.

The last few weeks I have gotten interested in geneology…thank you David… 🙂 I knew that the names Leah, which is my middle name and Lydia, that was my mom’s middle name run way back in the family. My granddaughter picked out the name Lydia for her baby and didn’t know anything about these names running in the family. I was so surprised when she told me. The other day when checking out my mom’s side, I found my great, great, great grandma born in 1850 and her name was Leah Ann Lydia and the photo of her when she was a small child looks just like Lydia! Lydia is one and a half now. I can’t believe it, they could be twins! So awesome! 🙂

Health update, I went to the Heart Failure Clinic yesterday and they did bloodwork. The marker for heart failure in a woman my age (73) was back to the low range for normal. So I’m very thankful for that. Still not feeling very strong, but much better than I was. At least I can breathe again.
Speaking of old names, my name is actually Lynne Ella, the Ella was my Grandmother on my father’s side. When my sister was born, my father had wanted a boy to have his name, but since she was a girl, he said “if Cornelia Otis Skinner can have her father’s name, so can my daughter”, so my sister is Karen Otis. She’s not a fan of it (lol). I have 3 sons, my oldest is a Jr., and both of the others have their grandfathers’ names in theirs. I love using family names.
Wish my Spanish was better. I didn’t know what he was singing, but every now and then I would catch a word. Loved it anyway. He could sing the phone book in Spanish and I wouldn’t know the difference, and I would love it.
