David Archuleta became a star when he was just 16. In 2008 he was runner-up in Season 7 of “American Idol.”  He has released six albums and won numerous awards since then. In March 2014 David returned from a two-year stint as a full-time missionary in Chile eager to perform and record once again.

Since his return he’s traveled to the Middle East to perform for U.S. troops, recorded the song “Glorious” for the recently released “Meet The Mormons” movie, and been busy writing songs for a new album that will be released in 2015.

I just went thru the ‘purchasing tickets to a David Archuleta Concert’ panic!!! 🙂 🙂 Unfortunately I had to settle for general admission as the reserved seating was all sold, other than a few singles. Most likely to the season ticket holders for the amphitheater. Oh well, I will be in the same latitude and longitude (sort of) as the one whose voice makes me happy!! Guess I’ll be finding out what it’s like to stand in line for when the gates open (clears throat), I’ve never had to do that before. This should be interesting because my hubby will be with me. Maybe he will act as my bodyguard. 🙂

I’m excited to see other states opening up. Dear hubby wanted to go to Idaho Falls and not Layton, do you think I can persuade him to do both? Probably. He’s a pretty nice guy. 😉

Abrra, I love this fan site. I love being able to see, hear, laugh about, and learn all things David. But, I also love that we can spill some personal things now and then and we have worldwide friends that will listen to us with open hearts. ♥ ♥

Congrats on your tour tickets! Wear sneakers for the rush to the front. I suggest you and hubby practice before the show. Ha! I love that we have an international compliment of fans. Just look at who wrote the current article 🙂 Even though I refer to Gladys as my sis, I do consider all the fans as members of my David family.
My thoughts on David’s strategy is to take it slow and do a few shows out west to bank some cash so that he will be able to move around the country and remain profitable and not end up in debt. There isn’t really any rush. He doesn’t have to answer to anyone but himself.

HG has a new post. Just had to share this. (hope I don’t offend anyone)

“When folks wring their hands, worrying about whether David can fit into this current music industry, whether or not he can sell out a theater or stadium, I just care that he can make a record filled with songs that can transcend me from this world of darkness into one of light. I care that he can make me cry again, soothing my soul like a “Balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick world.”

Damn, when I think of the genius behind those words, uttered, moaned and crooned by some ancestral slave who bore the lash, the master’s penis, or the depraved hands of some slave trader or slave catcher, I remember our people can survive anything.

    Our music told us so!

It is that same music that set David on fire, that reached him in his homogenous little world of Salt Lake City via media, and inspired him to become “Soul David,” not appropriating our culture but learning, crafting, and coming into his own Voice.

So, if David wants to take his time and figure out how best to use his Voice, I’m willing to give him that time. He doesn’t need to come out with crap music to beat a deadline. Not when we need real music and a real Voice to make the notes transcend through time and space in this time of darkness.

I love him for his realness and for his recognition that music can heal.

    Indeed, Music can save us.

We’re all in need of salvation now, and the Voice could be that balm.”

Got my tickets!! Yay! Second row center. Feeling so lucky Just went to check ticket sales and David is the only performer at that venue that has “sold out” showing

Been away from here for a few days due to unexpected funeral. The final houseguest left yesterday and I am trying to catch up with David stuff (and cleaning up stuff). It was great to spend some time with David again. Yes Dja “I care that he can make me cry again, soothing my soul like Balm in Gilead”. Nothing like David when things are tough.

  6. Abrra said

#4 I agree with what Hg said. David isn’t required to be on anyone’s timetable but his own.

I hope you are doing ok? I do miss you when you slip away for a few days. 2nd row center? OMGosh! PLEASE take a few close ups for us?

  7. jans11 said

Thanks for the post, Dja! What a beautiful Amphitheatre. It warms my heart to see another concert sold out! I would love to see David’s reaction on it! 🙂 Doing it his way seems to be the right way! He is using the best guidance ever; his guided intuition sent from above.

4 Dja, very interesting post and words are so true. I can listen to any one of David’s songs and I always revel in that voice of his. The feeling I get when he draws me right into the song with him. I will always treasure that and will always be there for him. Not going any where….not me! 🙂

Golly, Dayzee, you sure are lucky to get sated with that great voice of David’s! Now I know I will have to rent out that spare bedroom for at least a couple of months! haha 🙂

Wish I could go to Utah, but I’m afraid it’s just too far for me right now. Still dealing with health issues. I think the best I could do is hang out in a Mexican Bakery in Nashville. If my sons heard me say that, they’d take my car keys so I couldn’t leave my apartment (lol). They think I’m crazy for following David anyway, even if it’s just on the internet. Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants, and hearing his voice and new music, I’m sure it would help heal my heart faster.

  9. djafan said

Hope they finished Beautiful and Spotlight Down.

“Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants, and hearing his voice and new music, I’m sure it would help heal my heart faster.”

Did I ever mention that years back there was some sort of intervention attempted by my family? lol It’s so hard to explain but when they realized it’s all harmless but joy filled fun 🙂

  11. djafan said

Oh and if you haven’t heard, the tickets are sold out! Interesting fact: Donny Osmond tickets also went on sale today for September 3rd at the same venue and they haven’t sold out.

  12. bluesky4home said

I got my two tickets! Lol, Dayzee…. You sure won’t need my help to get up close this time. ^_^. I will be trucking it some where out there with Tawna and her hubby in general admission.

So…. I think maybe it is time for you to invest in a little camera?

You can practice between now and then on your grand kids? You never know!

I loved the comment brought over by HG. Love, love, love it. She has the right take on “soul David” for sure. Balm of Gilead.

Lynnella, I know what it can be like to have one or two health challenges. I have to believe that you are going to be there front and center. And when you are, I will be there with you in spirit every step, breath, and cheer along the way.

  13. bluesky4home said

Abrra, yes. We are family. You guys accept as me as I am. I am so grateful for all of you. Thank you, thank you.

  14. tawna21 said

Dayzee, how did you swing those seats? I think you’ve got a ticket gremlin in your pocket that holds the good seats for you! haha 🙂

Bluesky, we need to make a plan for our attack at getting a good spot. 🙂

I loved HG’s comment. The whole thing (I blushed in a couple of parts 😉 ) was so good. David can take the time he needs to bring us the good stuff.

  15. tawna21 said

Lynnella, my best wishes to you with your health. How blessed you must feel to have found David’s voice to help you thru the hard times. ♥

  16. MT said

So awesome that David sold out another venue! Woo hoo!! Go David! Keep selling them out and booking new ones. Don’t forget the south when you can get down this way. 🙂

Yay for Dayzee and Tawna and Bluesky! Congrats on getting tickets!

Hmmm Three shows three nights in a row. We’re gonna be stayin’ up late in September, folks. Just like old times. 😀

  17. lynnella said

Love all you guys. Thanks for the well wishes. Just having a bout with Congestive Heart Failure. Sounds worse than it is. I have an appointment Fri. at a place called the Heart Failure Clinic. That’s not a very positive sounding name (lol). However, I will get better. I’m not ready to check out yet. I haven’t been to a David Archuleta Concert and that’s the only thing on my Bucket List. So, he has to come somewhere close to Louisville so I can see him. I did see him once when his Other Side of Down album was coming out. He did a radio promo thing with a bunch of other people. He only sang 4 songs and only had Mike on the guitar with him. I had to stand the whole time and wasn’t very close to the stage. I left as soon as he finished. So, I didn’t actually see a concert. I’ll be glad when there’s actual video to watch and new songs to hear. Can’t wait.

  18. Dayzee said

Tawna, I suggest you stick with Bluesky. She can charm those ushers out of the bestest seats.

MT, I hadn’t realized those would be 3 nights in a row concerts. Makes sense though, as Idaho Falls is just up the road from Layton. Wow! I love being on the road for David. If it was David’s strategy to sell a bunch of tickets in Utah to get touring money, it is working, And those Idaho folks love David. Those tickets won’t last long. I see they figured out 2 nights were better than 1

  19. bebereader said

SOLD OUT! Why am I not in the least surprised? David’s voice continues to touch a lot of hearts and as I read up earlier, “the heart wants what the heart wants”. I’m far from UT and ID. Very far. I’m with the crowd of people who have to hope David uses the profits he makes on these sold out dates to add more concert dates for those of us in the eastern and southern US of A. Congrats to those who were able to get tickets!

Since I’ve been watching the show “Nashville” which is filmed in Nashville, I’ve learned about local songwriters, some who are commissioned to write songs for the show. Other times they use a song that brings forth emotions relating to the current storyline. Needless to say, I get excited when I see tweets and Instagrams from Nashville songwriters who recently wrote with David and refer to him as “amazing” and “unbelievably talented”. The pic in comment #9 inspired me to send David a tweet tonight from The Voice about his songwriting.

Josh Groban is singing Bring Him Home on Kelly & Michael right now.

  23. angelofdja said

Kelly just told him no one else should ever sing that song. Sure wish I could send her David’s version. I try to be impartial…but man, David singing Bring Him Home touches my heart. ❤ Josh didn't do that for me this morning!

  24. Abrra said

I just looked for the performance you spoke of, but it might not be uploaded yet. I did find this video of Josh Groban singing the same song.

It may be a difference in musical styles that changes how we feel when hearing David sing Bring Him Home. I admit I am not a fan of Groban. His singing seems too operatic for my liking. He is an accomplished musician but just not my choice.
I am commenting from my phone , hoping the video will embed.

  25. djafan said

Josh Groban’s is good but this brings me to tears.

  26. djafan said

    I agree with this tweet.

  27. bluesky4home said

I love Josh Groban. His music got me through the last 7 months of my sisters illness and passing. I still cry when I hear his voice.

DA was just coming into view at that time. His music did not quite hit the same pathos for me then, in the same way. Not sure why. But he introduced me to Eva Cassidy. That was a true gift. Her song: “I know you by heart”, was exactly what I needed to hear for my sister.

Part of DA’s great gift, as I see it, is that he recognizes (he did from the beginning, listening to Les Mis) the soul’s need for and connection to music: the hunger within us all to connect at that level. It was never (for him) about just “entertainment”. He could hear Eva and instead of pulling back in his young self, as he might have due to shyness, he actually sought to have that kind of a connection. No wonder he goes to “a different place” when he sings.

And then – God gave him the gift, the heart, the sound, and the great desire. We are definitely the beneficiaries. I love DA. I love his sound, his journey, his courage, his uniqueness, all of it.

    I will be forever grateful.

Some Eva, while we are sharing.

I’m painting the hall today. Luckily I ran out of paint and will need to finish tomorrow. Even more fortunate, I am busy lunch/shopping with my granddaughter tomorrow. So it will be Friday unless I can think up something else. A half painted hallway used to bother me a lot more than it does today.

What an awesome pic of David at #20. Thanks for reminding me I have not yet picked up my MTM copy. Close to the paint store is a Deseret Book with not only MTM but also yummy caramels. My day is looking up. Never thought I would be using David as an excuse to get me some caramels.

Lovin Nancy’s tweet. Sellouts are a big deal.

Lynnella, hope things go well for you at the Heart Clinic. My husband had that problem and it made things very difficult for him.

Funfee! Nice to have you drop in. I am hoping David expands his tour and every fan has a chance to see him. I am feeling a bit like a hoarder having been to several of David performances in less than 6 months (none of them really David concerts). It is more fun when everyone is included. Not that I want to give up any of the venues close to me. No nononono

  31. Abrra said

I have seen that video because it came through Google alerts a few months ago. It is David singing at a memorial service and out of respect for the family, I didn’t think it was something that belonged on a fan site. I wondered if the person who took the video was family.

  32. Abrra said

Lots of painting going on at my place too. But it’s the garage. My son in law does auto mechanics on the side and he has decided to replace the carpet and repaint the walls. He keeps things pretty neat, but its been 15 years since he “redecorated”. He got a dumpster and is really doing a big clean out.

Nice to see you again 🙂

  33. Dayzee said

Poof, having just dealt with a tough funeral the memory of David’s singing at a memorial service was very comforting to me. Thanks for the reminder..

Abrra, a dumpster sounds like just what I need. My little hallway sounds pretty small thinking of your redo.

Got my copy of MTM and my caramels. Looks like a great evening coming up.

Today I followed a car with a license plate holder that read “Layton Utah….Ed Kenley Cars” A month ago that would have meant nothing to me, but today it made me smile. David infuses my life with happiness.

Whoever was following my car was reading “I’d rather be at a David Concert”. A gift from my daughter.

  39. Abrra said

This fellow Ed Kenley must be a Superstar in Utah eh? 😉 There is a certain synchronicity we David fans experience. Have you ever had the radio on and 4 or 5 songs come on in an hour and they are all ones that David has covered? Happens to me often. I think it’s because David has the ability to select cover songs that resonate with one’s soul. So naturally they are the kind of songs that get listed on popular playlists.

  40. Dayzee said

Abrra, all of those songs David has covered contain some of that “David dust” that makes us perk up and feel his spirit even though he is not currently the singer.

  41. Abrra said

I saw this and wondered if they do this for all shows or just the ones that do not sell out. I am posting it to show how they market the venue.

If anyone missed out on a ticket to David’s show, follow them on IG and watch for news.

Glorious in Spanish is awesome, the whole song would be more awesome! 🙂

Had to look up David singing in loving memory. Nearer, My God to Thee is one of my favorite hymns and it was absolutely beautiful. #asusual

The last few weeks I have gotten interested in geneology…thank you David… 🙂 I knew that the names Leah, which is my middle name and Lydia, that was my mom’s middle name run way back in the family. My granddaughter picked out the name Lydia for her baby and didn’t know anything about these names running in the family. I was so surprised when she told me. The other day when checking out my mom’s side, I found my great, great, great grandma born in 1850 and her name was Leah Ann Lydia and the photo of her when she was a small child looks just like Lydia! Lydia is one and a half now. I can’t believe it, they could be twins! So awesome! 🙂

    Condolences to you Dayzee. {{{hugs}}}

    Lynella, take care. {{{hugs to you too}}}

the song is beautiful, David’s voice is sublime. It is different from the version in English. The lyric has totally changed.

That is a wonderful story about family names appearing to randomly repeat. I choose to think it was always your great great grandma’s wish to have a namesake and that she whispered in your granddaughter’s ear during her pregnancy. Please let us know if you find going forward in your search.

Health update, I went to the Heart Failure Clinic yesterday and they did bloodwork. The marker for heart failure in a woman my age (73) was back to the low range for normal. So I’m very thankful for that. Still not feeling very strong, but much better than I was. At least I can breathe again.

Speaking of old names, my name is actually Lynne Ella, the Ella was my Grandmother on my father’s side. When my sister was born, my father had wanted a boy to have his name, but since she was a girl, he said “if Cornelia Otis Skinner can have her father’s name, so can my daughter”, so my sister is Karen Otis. She’s not a fan of it (lol). I have 3 sons, my oldest is a Jr., and both of the others have their grandfathers’ names in theirs. I love using family names.

Wish my Spanish was better. I didn’t know what he was singing, but every now and then I would catch a word. Loved it anyway. He could sing the phone book in Spanish and I wouldn’t know the difference, and I would love it.

  52. Dayzee said

Jan, there are many good voices out there, but David has some extra quality that I do not hear anywhere else. It just kind of spoils me for all others Whenever I hear his voice there is an instant connection. Sometimes it is just “Ahh that’s better” and sometimes it is jarring like putting your finger in the light socket but it is always there.

Lynnella, nice to hear you are doing better. Hope things continue in that direction for you.

Gladys, I envy that you understand exactly what David is singing in Spanish.

Abrra, Bebe and Dja, thanks to you for finding some item of interest about David on a daily basis. We are so thirsty and any thing you find is appreciated. You bring us light. I am still waiting for the announcement of more concerts, hopefully sooner than September. Hard to believe Jan and I are making plans for November. That is like forever. Somebody will probably remind me of David’s Patience lesson. I know, I know

  53. jans11 said

Thanks, Abs and I will update! 🙂 But I don’t know if I’ll find anything as exciting, but you never know!

Lynnella…good news! I worked with a girl and they had the 2nd daughter and hoping for a son, they had picked out the name Duncan! So they went ahead and named the girl Duncan! To me that’s not the greatest name anyway and to saddle it on a girl.. 😦 !!!! (Even tho I have friends with that name, but it’s their last name.)

Angelofdja…WOW! Hope all is well. That’s scary!

Dayzee, I totally agree! Your description is perfect! It’s that “it” that is there every time when David sings!
Even though our concert plans are in November, I’m already mentally wondering what to pack! 🙂 I will start looking for some good airfares in about a month! It might take that long to get a good price. Or maybe I’ll win the lottery! hahahaha (I have to by a ticket to win!)

Gladys, you might know the words are different, but you couldn’t prove it by me! 🙂

You can’t tell me that when David was singing Heaven in Manila he wasn’t happy! Look at that big grin! Hoping we’ll see that again! 🙂 #alot

Howdy peeps! Love the Instagram from David♥ Sounds good to me D!!

Happy belated Birthday wishes to you Betsy!! Wonderful to see you:)) and YES wonderful to have spring….sprung!lol
I hung up a hummingbird feeder and was enjoying watching them come and sip from it for several weeks now….
UNTIL… the other day when I walked out to sit on the patio chair ,looked over at the feeder and there must have been 30 bees all over it,enjoying the elixer!! EEEK! Too close for me.
Felt so bad, but had to remove it.The little birds still keep flying by looking for it.:(( The bees seemed to come out of nowhere, and I am 3 floors up. Haven’t seen A bee since I took it down.

**Lynnella,,glad to hear you are feeling somewhat better♥wishing you continued good health.

sooo, for or someone who is pretty mouthy..I haven’t been here much I realized lately, to comment.
Just waiting for more venues to appear, and kind of got used to being away from the computer for a bit. Like D,was taking a little breather I guess. Hadn’t ever really done that, for all these years, since our journey with David began.Somewhere between no news from David, and too much real life nightly news-news,your brain can feel overloaded. Well, ok, my brain.
Just needed to sit back and take a breath♥

    And Happy Birthday to Kari!
Can’t wait to hear what David has been working on.
    I’m ready! 🙂

    Oh and D singing Glorious in spanish…o. m. g.
    so beautiful.
