Didn’t think I would see such a white Nashville. All this snow shoveling makes me feel like I’m right at home, though.

I tweeted David with a picture I took this morning. He isn’t alone in his task of the day.

According to my Tweetdeck info, David has Twitter back on his iPhone. He coulda sent us a picture of him all decked out in shoveling attire πŸ™‚

Tawna What is this crazy talk of real estate? πŸ˜‰ I don’t do cruises or airplanes. That is Steno’s thing.

Abrra, I’m saying that since there are expensive cruises/tours to Siberia and the cold places of the world, you should create your own tour through your own place/backyard (real estate) and charge people to come see β€˜the snow and arctic dogs’. Make sense? πŸ™‚ You could even serve cocoa!

OK Tawna. I get it now. Your original statement was vague to me.

Tour would be the walkway tunnels to 2 bird feeders and the dog pen. The rest of the place is buried under 5 feet of ice and snow. I feel so bad for my kids because they shovel the 75 foot driveway at least 3 times each storm. Sometimes more.

David says ” Something new for me coming from Utah where I guess everybody is used to and prepared for snow days.”

No gloves and wrong shovel. I’d say he is right in line with the natives.

Good morning everyone !!! Isn’t it nice to get those messages from David ? The fact that he’s living in Nashville right now is great news. It means he is working on his music. Why else would he be there? That’s why I’m still hanging around . πŸ™‚

Betsy! What a read about your brother! How cool what he’s doing. Since my gall bladder attack and opting not to have surgery I’ve just about eliminated all pesticides and preservatives from my diet, proud to say I’ve not had another attack in almost two years! So this is of most interest to me. Thanks Abrra for bringing it here, I missed it on twitter.

Oliveoil, Why on earth would David move to Nashville whether permanently or temporarily if not to create music??? lol Whatever David does or doesn’t do has no impact on my life. So I’m here for when he puts out music πŸ™‚

I have a feeling it will be all of that …. and more !!!! haha. ( lame joke ) He sings music that makes him feel something. Thar’s what he always says. So I expect he will sing in lots of different styles, and his music will always carry a meaningful message. But no matter what style he sings, there is always that special thing his voice brings to it. It’s that ” thing” that has kept me here for 7 years ( yikes!) and it’s that thing that I just don’t get from any other singer.

Our temps here in NY are starting to rise and the sun is finally shining! I am so looking forward to Spring weather. Despite all the snow we’ve had on the East Coast, Spring is just around the corner. Daylight Savings Time starts at 2 am this Sunday, March 8. That’s when we turn our clocks ahead one hour.

According to the weather, it’s sunny today in Nashville too, too at 34 degrees. I loved David’s tweet and IG picture! He’s just a normal guy with extraordinary talent who has to shovel his car out of the snow, just like the rest of us.

    Betsy,
I knew your brother lived in Hawaii but didn’t know all that he was doing there. Way above my head (literally and figuratively) but it looks like his research and findings will benefit the area for years to come. And for that I say Bravo!

    MT,
“Will it be Funky? Fun? Jazzy? Soulful? Ballads? Pop? Spanish? haha IDK but I’m up for any of it as long as David’s singing it. :)”
All the above would be fine with me, too. And I think David can do it all without sticking to any one genre of music.

The Kansas City area has really been lucky with not having any big snow here. Cold temps, but not snow. We have had snow up to May though. It’s not often, but has happened. Supposed to be around 70 by Sunday and nice all next week. I am ready for Spring!!!

    “Charity and LDS requests:

I don’t know if this has been posted before, but this is a comment from one of the firemen who witnessed David singing in their firehouse after 9/11. He found his OS and wanted to thank David:

    ” tommcl54 / February 26, 2015

David…. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for a moment I’ll never forget. On 9/11 we lost all 15 men in my old firehouse in New York City, 40 men in all who I’d known and worked with over the years. One very long and difficult year later we had a gathering at the firehouse, a Mass, a Remembrance, a time to be together with each other and the widows and families of those 15 men, and in the midst of that gathering the firehouse door opened and you walked in with your Dad. He asked if you could sing for us, that you wanted to do so simply to offer comfort and to honor those men, and then you began singing. In the midst of so much pain and heartache, your voice was so unexpected, so beautiful, so comforting. It stopped me in my tracks and I’ve never forgotten that moment, standing alongside the widows and the children, all of us listening to you. You sang God Bless America and I’ll Always Love You, and you touched us all very deeply. The horrors and heartaches of 9/11 will never be forgotten, but neither will that moment be forgotten by me. I’ve spoken of that day several times over the years, telling them how much it touched me, and one day a friend searched online and unbelievably found a YouTube video of it, likely recorded on a cell phone by your Dad. I have the memory imbedded in my mind but to be able to listen to it again, to be able to share that moment with my own children, was and is a real gift. And so after stumbling across your blog online today, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for that beautiful moment of comfort you gave us all on a day we so badly needed it. Thank you, David.
    God Bless….

  47. PBS special is on now about John Denver…Sunshine On My Shoulder…Annie…quite the sound.

His life was artistic, unusual…He would go to the Rockies and ski which would give him huge inspiration. “Annie” was written in 10 minutes while skiing and seeing things most don’t ever see in nature.

His unusual life and the impact his music still has on us is much like David’s story. The beauty of John Denver’s songs never changes. It is possible that David will be like that if he successfully turns the corner of his career.

    SandyBeaches,

I watched the same show on John Denver last night and like you, I thought of David! JD was a special human being whom I have missed since he passed away in 1997. I agree, there are similarities to David. Both soulful gentlemen, hugely talented, humanitarians, but what stands out the most is the quality of their voices. The way I felt when I heard John Denver’s voice was very similar to how David’s silky voice makes me feel. Peace and joy in abundance.

I was a huge fan as I know many of David’s fans were, too. There must be a reason so many of David’s fans were fans of John Denver’s. Must be the qualities they share that attract us.

“John was complicated, had self doubt, didn’t ever know how good he was. Was trying to discover himself. That sounds so familiar….and had such a smile.”

I wonder how many artists recognize how good they are. I imagine there’s always a struggle, including self-doubt when you’re as humble as these two gentlemen.

I did notice that on David’s Windish page he actually has three agents listed. I googled them and found that Todd Walker has been specializing in Performing Arts booking, Alex Rabens came from a classical booking background and Brandon Frankel specializes in Marketing. David definitely needs marketing help! Looks like the agency is going to be working hard for David since he has three agents on his team. Others on the list that I checked had one or two.

On Sunday February 15, David Archuleta, the former American Idol runner-up, delivered an inspiring message and performed for teens at Decker Lake Youth Center.

Archuleta shared the many challenges he faced pursuing his dream of being a singer and the need to work hard everyday to be better.

β€œI began my singing career in the backyard because I was too afraid to sing in front of others,” Archuleta told the youths. β€œThe dogs in the neighborhood would howl – they were my first real audience members.”

As a young singer, just beginning his career at age 12, Archuleta was diagnosed with a paralyzed vocal cord that could have ended his career.

He was devastated by this news and almost gave up singing all together; instead, he sang on. Although his vocal cord never healed, he was able to adapt. Archuleta believes this has given him his unique sound, as well as helped him to work through other obstacles in his life.

During his time with the youths, Archuleta sang several songs – religious and motivational. Teens and staff were amazed by his gift and willingness to share his time and talents with them.

Before heading back to Nashville, where Archuleta works daily on becoming a better singer, he shook each and every one of the teens’ and staff’s hands as well as thanked us all for the opportunity to visit our facility.

Lastly, Archuleta commented on how impressed he was with the youths and the interest and respect they showed him.

DA takes on everything he does with respect, determination, and a very healthy sense of responsibility. The details coming out about his OS simply affirm what we already knew: He takes his career seriously as well.

My concern is not that his efforts might not *fill the bowl* I am holding out. My concern is that I might not have a container (or be a container) expansive enough – a heart understanding enough – to receive what he has in mind to deliver.

  72. It’s true about his voice oliveoil…but I need to hear it again and not just something from the past or recent past. It seems like he is on the other side of a mountain and I can barely hear him in the distance. I know, a weird thought. I actually read about his speaking to people very quickly as that only interests me just a little after three years. It is his singing voice that the world fans would like to hear, his singing voice. He inspires uniquely through song. We have been saying that for years. He felt that he was given the voice to sing with so let that be always of greatest importance to him. He need not be a dime a dozen but one in a million.

It’s nice to see this article about “Glorious” sung in Spanish. I sent it to Gladys, then decided I need to share it here.

LDS family releases Spanish translation of ‘Glorious’

SANDY β€” In February, a Spanish translation of “Meet the Mormons” premiered in Mexico, and thanks to an LDS family from Utah, Spanish-speakers around the world can also enjoy “Glorious,” a song made popular by the film, in their native language. Miller is from Concepcion, Chile, but now lives with her husband, Matthias, and their three daughters in Sandy. After recognizing the lack of inspirational music available in Spanish, she felt inspired to translate β€œGlorious.”

β€œThe song is so beautiful in English, and for someone who doesn’t understand, like my parents, they listen to the song in English and they say, β€˜I feel something; it’s just so special,’ ” said Miller, who joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 15. β€œBut when my mother listened to the translation in Spanish, she was tearing up.”

Miller likens listening to the original version to how she felt when she came to the United States and attended sacrament meeting in an English-speaking ward.

β€œI felt the Spirit, but I couldn’t understand the things, so it wasn’t a deep, 100 percent kind of feeling,” she said. β€œSo when you put that whole entire meaning together with the beautiful music, it just comes together more beautiful and the stronger the feeling.”

Miller’s determination to translate the song increased when she awoke one night at 3 a.m. with a strong feeling that she needed to try. She has never considered herself a talented translator, but with the help of her husband, she began translating the song, hoping others might β€œalso share in hearing and sharing their singing expressions of this beautiful song β€” in Spanish.”

The Millers originally planned to have their daughters, Seli, 18; Desi, 17; and Ari, 15, record the song on an iPhone, but when the translation took more effort than they expected, they broadened their horizons. The Millers sought the help of their friend Masa Fukuda, director of One Voice Children’s Choir, who agreed to accompany the girls in a video.

    “Just a little thought….

Abrra made a comment about David that reminded me of the great fable, The Tortoise and the Hair. She referred David to being slow and steady. It brought to my mind the quote from the book, “Slow and steady wins the race…” I couldn’t help but think that “YES!” David will win the race! And what race is that? Its not a race to win fame, or the honors of men. It is a race to make a difference in the world, to bring light, hope and joy into hearts. And while he is steadily walking the walk, he will be jumping over the hurdles of the naysayers. I, for one, am excited to be along the pathway, cheering him on! I will be partying at the finish line when he crosses!

So pumped at what he is creating… πŸ˜€ ”

I’ve been a Five For Fighting fan for many years and ever since David covered “The Riddle” at CFTH a few years ago, I would once in a while tweet youtubes of one of David’s performances to John Ondrasik from FFF. I guess he never saw my tweets but that’s okay. He found it on his own. I couldn’t be happier, as long as he found it. My next wish is for them to collaborate on song-writing!!

Here’s another song by John Ondrasik that pulls at your heartstrings like “The Riddle”. “I Just Love You” was written for his four-year-old daughter. One can hope that David will choose to cover this some day, too. He probably knows the song since he is a fan of Five For Fighting/Ondrasik.

Occasionally I wonder what the heck am I doing, allowing a boy barely out of his teens to influence my life in so many ways. A few minutes here at the voice and I think how blessed I am to be under David’s thumb. Just today, there are posts from Abrra, Djafan and Bebereader that just make my heart soar. Thanks guys.

The FFF music and lyrics are so beautiful. Great to see John O. acknowledge David’s version of Riddle. Being Irish, I appreciated David’s Happy St. Patrick’s Day message. There is so much joy in that 7 minute blog. And also much compassion for others. What a jewel he is!

The video he mentioned is cute. I didn’t realize that David Osmond is about 10 years older that David A.
Who remember’s Anthony Geary from General Hospital? LOL I will never forget him. His story line with love interest Laura, made me quit watching soaps. LOL It just got too silly.

The last 2 days, I’ve heard Mirrors. Once on tv when a program was going into a commercial, so just a few notes and then the whole song at the Hen House grocery store. Wasn’t David, but was good to hear! πŸ™‚
