Simply Irresistible ~ David Archuleta

Posted by bebereader on Saturday, February 21, 2015

“I’m really loving the Mexico love and that has triggered a ton of requests for meet & greets, and concerts from other Latin countries such as, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Honduras, Panama, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, including a slew of cities in Mexico. Which then triggered a what about us from all the Asian countries, and Canada 🙂 Great stuff.”

“It is so good to see David moving along in his career and that he hasn’t lost any fan admiration! Can’t believe this time last year we were counting the days for his return. It’s a fun ride trying to keep up with David’s travels!”

“It fills my heart to see that wherever David goes he has fans. He makes quite an impression on anyone he meets! He can’t hide his charm; it translates into any language!”

These comments from our posters echo the feelings I had last week, watching the coverage of the Roots Tech and Meet The Mormons Mexico events. It seems David has a home wherever he may roam. He is so loved. Fans appear even at a moment’s notice to welcome him. The reluctant star cannot escape stardom.

Bebe, ‘The reluctant star cannot escape stardom.’ This thought went thru my head over and over last week at RootsTech as I watched him perform. David is a star that shines brightly in the life of so many people. It’s just there. We enjoy it. We admire it. We respect it. We don’t want it to burn out. That is a phenomenon that David will eventually have to grasp a hold of. I feel that he will, maybe even has. I think, I hope, he has a management team that is good for him. Kari and Gina could have thrown their hands in the air when he came home from Chile and took so much time to even think about getting back into ‘the groove’. But, they know how valuable David is, and I don’t mean just monetarily. David has a gift that is meant to be shared, and I honestly feel that they know that. They respect the fact that David is ‘just David’ and plans to make it work ‘his way’. And, it will work his way. It will be beautiful. We’ve had some mighty fine samplings in just the past couple of weeks.

    I’m hanging on!

Thanks Bebe! I, too, from the goings on this past week, just knew that he is well on his way again. He has the “it” factor and I think whether he wants it or not, he will be a star! I will always remember what Paula told him on AI…”I can’t wait for the world to hear you”. And when he sang DLTSGDOM, she told him that “the sun will never go down on you David. Listen to the fans, they’re all yours”. When I sent him cards and letters, I always thanked him for everything he did because he always thinks of his fans. And I praised him for his God given talent and that I knew that he would know the right thing to do when he came home. Hope I wasn’t contributing to his getting “too much praise to give him a big head!” 🙂 And, yes, kudos to Kari and Gina that seems to know the right things David needs and wants.

    Tawna, I’m hanging on too! #notgoinganywhere #yesitwillbebeautiful

Bebe, Great idea of a filler. David continues to attract people with just being him. Then he opens that mouth and forget it, that voice seals the deal. Gina and Kari know they have a very special thing with David. I enjoying the ride and enjoying what David has to offer. Those tacos were something. David looks like he’s having a blast.

Just a short comment. Proverbs 18:16 says, A man’s gift makes room for him. And brings him before great men.

As David has acknowledged that his gift is from God, God’s gift is making room for David, and men (and women) everywhere are clamoring to hear it. I love all the attention he’s getting. I know some people have a problem with most of his appearances being for the Church, but hey, it’s getting his name and face out there in places only they could go. Who needs a record label when you have the LDS Church booking gigs for you (lol).

DA is inviting people to think about their lives, to think about their relationships with their families, with their loved ones, with Christ; to think about who they are in the world and what they can do. No matter what they decide, it is juste an invitation and it is open to all. No strings attached, no worries.

And for that he is getting all expenses paid, free advertising and exposure all over the world. Just for doing what he would do anyway, because of who he is.

Perhaps there are those who opine that it may hurt him to have so much exposure in connection with the LDS church. Well, that ship has already sailed. DA made that decision a while back. And it is his decision to make. And he can change it if, and when he wishes.

All I know is: that decision makes him sing.

A harmonic vibration that is felt in hearts everywhere…… a vibrance that is tuned for every heart. May it continue to heal, bless, invigorate and inspire.

(and now and then — to “jump”!!! ((dance, rumba, jive, slide, and croon, please)) ^_^)

Not surprised by frustration from non LDS fans, feeling left out of the loop. If they feel the need, I just hope it is voiced respectfully.
David’s life, David’s career, he gets to go where his happiness is, just like the rest of us. And as fans, we get to make our choice if that works for us.

    Tawna,
I agree with you; I think in time David will accept that he brings joy to people just by being himself. He has got to notice that each time he goes anywhere, from his home town, to NYC to the most remote place in Ethiopia, he is greeted by a group of fans. Like growing into his own shoes he will grow into his stardom in his own way.
“That is a phenomenon that David will eventually have to grasp a hold of. I feel that he will, maybe even has.”

    Jans,
“He has the “it” factor and I think whether he wants it or not, he will be a star! I will always remember what Paula told him on AI…”I can’t wait for the world to hear you”. And when he sang DLTSGDOM, she told him that “the sun will never go down on you David. Listen to the fans, they’re all yours”.”

Paula may have had a lot of critics during her stint on AI but she sure ‘got’ David. I’m waiting for her AI Tell-All book one day when she has nothing to lose. I hope she includes a section on Season 7 and the battle of the two Davids. Mostly I want to read about how much she admired our David.

    Lynella,
“I know some people have a problem with most of his appearances being for the Church, but hey, it’s getting his name and face out there in places only they could go. Who needs a record label when you have the LDS Church booking gigs for you (lol).”

Good point you made and one that I have thought about for the last few months. David basically had to start over when he came back home but was given opportunities with his church for public and semi-public appearances which enabled us to see him, too.

    Bluesky,
I could have copied your entire comment since it was spot-on but I think this line suffices:

“A harmonic vibration that is felt in hearts everywhere…… a vibrance that is tuned for every heart. May it continue to heal, bless, invigorate and inspire.”
    Amen.

    Emmegirl,
I couldn’t have said it better if I had tried.

“David’s life, David’s career, he gets to go where his happiness is, just like the rest of us. And as fans, we get to make our choice if that works for us.”

I really hope no one feels “left out”. I can imagine that they might – if they misunderstand and think that there is some “exclusionary” process going on. Not so far as I can see. He is doing these appearances as a service, that is true. But I think it is possible that the rewards may well be extremely good for him exposure-wise.

I trust what I hear from Kari, etc. I trust that he is working on many other things. I trust that there will be MORE music than just what might be appropriate for a religious gathering. (I BELIEVE ❤ <3)

Yep, I really DO believe that there is, and that it is coming. I hope it is coming soon. But I know that that timing is up to Dear DA.

I myself, have experienced that "distance" since he came back and settled-in to a different way to present himself in his relationship with his fans. However, that is DA. Not his religion. (I only need to think of Shay Carl, to be reminded of that. ^_^)

I can imagine that it might seem that LDS peeps are getting perks that others are not. However, almost all of his performances (not counting those overseas) have been open to the public.

If he were Baptist or Catholic or Hindu, I imagine that he would be just as open to performing for gatherings of believers of any of those persuasions. I would expect him to be.

    Dear DA:

You will not be reading this comment. You will be off doing immeasurably more interesting things. I want you to be, yes, I do. Well, most of me does. Well, the thoughtful part of me does. Well, anyway…..

I seem to hear a refrain made popular by one: "Oliver Twist", to which I will take the liberty of putting a new "twist". Just for effect, and the visual image that it conjures:

    "Songs, Hundreds of Songs,
    I'm anxious to try it!
    Six concerts a month —
    My favorite diet!"

And with that, I will unashamedly hold out my bowl, heart, and ears for "more".

And I will probably be standing and asking for more as long as you have still breath and the will to sing. ^_^

    Just saying.

Bluesky, I’m not LDS, I’m Methodist, and I don’t feel a bit left out. Everything he’s done for the church has been open to anyone who wants to come. I’m not able to go, I’m stuck in KY, but if I were somewhere close by and they said he’s appearing and it’s open to the public, I’d be there in a heartbeat. I don’t think he or the church have excluded anyone. If anyone feels excluded, it’s something they’ve put on themselves. I’ve entertained Mormon Missionaries in my home and found them to be very sweet lovely people, the boys and the girls. They don’t try to force anything on you, If you aren’t interested in hearing about their church, they don’t try to make you listen. They offer to help you, if you need help with something and are very much like David appears to be. As far as I’ve seen, David hasn’t preached doctrine to any of us. He just projects the love of Christ. As far as I’m concerned, that’s one of the things that’s so appealing about him. He is love and goodness personified.

Stardom, is defined as “the state or status of being a famous or exceptionally talented performer in the world of entertainment or sports.”

Sorry DA, when you got it, you got it. That IT factor, wherever you go, it’s going with you! Wherever you choose to sing, whenever you choose to sing, and whatever you choose to sing, hearts and ears will be listening for the beauty of your voice, and respond. Can’t help it. You have to know, it’s not easy to be in our shoes…for you can’t hear you and see you like we do. I wish you could; you would never be the same again, take our word for it !! haha!

I didn’t watch them because I thought the film would be snubbed and it was. I pretty well feel like David thinking that most of those Hollywood people are into themselves and I can’t handle watching it. jmo

Another great puzzle, David in the spotlight, Yes!

I’m not LDS either, but like Lynnella said, I have entertained Elders coming to the house too and they are such gentlemen. I respect them that they aren’t lazy good for nothing guys, but good role models for the young people. They have helped me with my yard work and trimmed a tree. Always asking if they can help do something. So it doesn’t bother me that David does things for the church. If he’s happy and singing where I can hear it, I’m happy. Maybe it’s not like it was before he went on a mission, but maybe it will eventually get back to that again. Like he said, it’s taking him a little longer to get back..

    Bluesky, I wholeheartedly agree too!

Sky, I hope you resolve your computer issues 🙂 Yep he’s got that star quality about him no matter what he does.

I listened to the Fireside/Devotional which by the way so glad they posted it for all to see. This could have easily been at my church, so thoroughly enjoyed what they both had to say. David’s Spanish is like his English and I love that his quirkiness comes out so naturally in either language. There was a question regarding how David makes the decision to not get involved in things he shouldn’t. He answered that you surround yourself with people who make the choice to keep their principles irregardless of there religion, who are positive in what they do. In my observations David has always done this, been inclusive, I don’t see a difference now.

    Hi Djoor!.

I think David traveled home today. Praying for a safe return.

David Archuleta Peru translated the questions. Here is the one that I referred to. And the link has the rest.

Q= How do you mantain your standards (say no) in your daily life, with the pression of your enviroment?

A= What I learned is that yes, there are times in life when we’re going to be in places where we didn’t expect to be or didn’t planned to but it happens. I think that it is important to have time alone to think about “how i want to be”. that’s something that I always try to do. I take some time in the mountains or in my room or in the car, in the forest to think who i want to be and what God expects from me or what my family expects from me and I try to think if something happens I always want to be this person and I take the decision before the situation happens. I’m always going to be like this and people respect that. At first, I was afraid “oh no, they are going to make fun of me” but they always always respect it and sometimes they are surprised like “what? you don’t do that? really?” I remember someone telling me “that’s weird!” and then “but…that’s great”.

“I realized that people see it and knows that it is not necessary to do the same things that everyone does. And it doesn’t matter if they are members or not, if we spend time with people with good values, who want to be better, we are going to improve too and we always can have that light wherever we go.”

Djafan – I just listened to the whole devotional. Wow. I think I cried through half of it. The feelings he expressed about AI and how he prayed and searched for songs that would carry meaning to the audience, the feelings he shared about his struggles making the decisions he has made – just wow – he was so humble, tender, and vulnerable.

I had to smile though when it came to his songs, great as ever, of course. But his struggles with accompanists (sp?) – why does the image of a “sparkly suit” come to mind? He would never complain. He just works to make the tempo work anyway.

(Would have been fun if instead of “slow and solemn, the pianist decided to bring a latin beat!)

Thanks so much for posting the link. Loved it.

Here is the Google translation for the link in #35

MEXICO After jumping to fame in the reality show “American Idol” singer David Archuleta debut in cinema with the song “Glorious”, part of the soundtrack of the documentary “Meet the Mormons.”

The invitation to interpret this piece, which sounds at the end of the tape, reached him just when he was serving a mission for the LDS Church south of Santiago de Chile.

“When I was there I asked to participate in this film to sing and it was fun for me because I never thought I would do that during the mission,” said the musician in interview, on his first visit to the capital.

This piece can be downloaded for free online and has a video directed by Blair Treu, who also helped on the film, which opens in Mexico on February 27.

“It is not necessarily a song of religion or something, is a topic that says we are all in this world for some reason, for some mission that we begin to lead our life glorious” he said.

David explained that at first the film was not going out in theaters, but one in Utah, USA, but due to the reaction of the public grew distribution.

“I feel great knowing that I have a connection with people through this song, which sang last year for the US release, compared to many artists,” said the musician, who was born in Miami and He began singing at age six, as he grew up with a family that loved to sing, dance and play the trumpet.

I am over it (sure I am) but I will never miss a chance to call attention to it. What am I referring to? “… it will be the biggest sham since the David Cook and David Archuleta scandal of 2008″! The fact that it is still referred to as a sham speaks volumes. I just had to say it; couldn’t let it go. haha

I think the expression “I’ll Show You Who You Are; Show Me Your Friends” is the one that addresses how David maintains his standards with the pressures of his environment. At the end of the day it does matter who you spend time with and that’s a good lesson to learn to help you grow in the right direction.

(PS couple of good-looking people there, DA. Just saying.)

Had to laugh at LadyV’s tweet. I have NOT forgotten how much I love Heart Falls Out. 🙂

And my new love … (something was missing from this thread so I hope you guys don’t mind me bringing it back.)

haha I don’t even care that I don’t know what he’s saying. 😀 Do you?

One thing I noticed when listening to this song: I’ve always been a fan of those power vocals from David. I love when he levels up the vocals. Sometimes I even repeat the power parts over and over and skip the beginning of some of his songs. But on this song, I think I like the softer parts as much or more than the power vocals. When he sings in Spanish, well, it’s like his voice was made for the smooth Spanish singing. It’s just beautiful! There isn’t a single note in this song that doesn’t remind me how truly gorgeous his voice can be.

MT, loved your writing on NP. I had not realized I did not know what he is saying. Hmmmmmm. It just sounds like what I need to hear. Thanks Djafan for giving me an excuse to watch that video once again. Had to check out your favorite parts. And thanks to Tawna for the Deseret News article. I had not seen it.

When David told us to sing with him O uh, O O uh I thought there is no way I can make those sounds with David on stage. Singing that song with David would be like painting with Rembrandt, sculpting with Rodin, dancing with Fred Astaire. I think it was the first time I disobeyed a direct order from David.

Losing Jan to Las Vegas leaves a big hole in the postings here.
