David Archuleta ~ Busy In Nashville

David’s been in Nashville for about three weeks!

Below are the four groups of writers who tweeted or sent pictures by Instagram. Maybe more to come. There certainly is an abundance of hashtags which tell a story by themselves!

I am following them all. I follow Stephanie Maybe and she has left Nashville for now. She didn’t mention anyone else leaving 🙂

At the end of the last thread SB mentioned feeding birds to help them get through the hard winter we are having here in the northeast. We do feed them in several spots around the yard. I just picked up 8 suet blocks that are embedded with seeds and fruit. 🙂 We also have seed feeders in a few places. The birds are constantly at the feeders, even as the falling snow and wind are at their worst.
My mother used to tell me that if you decide to feed the birds, it’s a lifetime commitment. Once they put you on their list of food stops, you must keep the promise. So I asked her how long do birds live? She told me it didn’t matter because they bring their relatives and the generations continue to use the feeding stops. So, I guess we have to consider them family and keep feeding them. I don’t mind. 🙂

Abrra, I think Stephanie said she was going home for a bit. Sounded like she may be going to Nashville again.

Marylee, David has been a busy bee for sure. I’m anxiously patiently waiting for what’s to come lol

Dja, thanks for putting all the pictures in one place. And, I like Marylee’s idea of David making Nashville more permanent. Utah just doesn’t have what he can get here and he would be less bothered by outsiders. #spokenbyanativeUtahn

It’s hard to even try to comprehend/imagine the heaven that David must be in. He is surrounded by his peers in the industry. He always refers to people his own age as his peers, which to a point is true when talking about relationships that build into marriage, close BFF’s, etc. But, in my mind these people are the companions that he is equal to when it comes to music and business.

Thanks for putting it all together. It’s great to see it like that. *thumbs up*

I love this comment from the top photo> Isabeau Miller said: “This song is GORGEOUS. There were some definite tears shed while we wrote it! I’m in love with it …”

I hope we get to hear that one! I’m also on the same train with Marylee and Tawna. I’d love it if he’d make Nashville either his home or second home.

And I’d quote Tawna in #4 but it would be the whole thing. So …. What Tawna said. Yes! 🙂

Wow, those hash tags put me to shame! 🙂 No, really, I’m so happy to see David making his dreams come true. I know he said he done things he hated, but he wouldn’t be here if hadn’t done them. It’s kind of the same story with us all. I’m sure we all have had to do things in life that we hated or didn’t like, but, that’s life, to get to the point we are at. I’m so excited to hear his new music. Don’t even care what it is, it’s David’s voice singing and that is what counts. I know it will knock our socks off, I just trust the Archuleta! 🙂

Thanks so much Munk! It means the world to us to get such positive feedback from David’s fans. We strive to keep up to date on whatever is happening with him and around him. We are all going to have to adjust to the new way his career is evolving. It has been a slow but steady stream of events and music. It gives all of us more time to tend to our own lives. In about a week we will have more new music. I am excited to have an original song from David! I hope he sends us a blog just before the Roots Tech event. I’d love to read what his thinking was in writing the new song.

He’s been given a great gift and I think its pretty awesome that he is striving to not be distracted, and is surrounding himself with gifted people to work with. We are in for a real treat! Excited!

I think, after all of this flurry of activity in Nashville, that we can safely put to rest the worry that David is only going to be a motivational speaker for his Church. Sounds like he also took the semester off from school. It would seem that the man is hard at work on his album. Would be nice if it comes out in late spring, and maybe a concert tour in the summer. That way he could go back to school in the fall, if he wants to. This is a man of many talents and interests. He can do anything he puts his mind to. Looking forward to hearing the Spanish song and seeing the video for it next week. I would say life is good in the David Archuleta fandom right now. Haven’t seen any naysayers around here lately either (lol).

    Lynella,
Summer Tour would be fabulous!! I don’t know if it will happen, but we can always hope!

When it was getting close to his homecoming last year, I was dreaming (didn’t actually expect it to happen) of a summer tour last year and, one day when I had some time on my hands, did a bit of editing on one of my favorite pictures from his time in Manila. I made my own Tour Poster for 2014. (Done wI wish it had become a reality, but that’s ok)

Anyway ….. I thought you might enjoy it as a puzzle. Something to dream on for 2015. Hope you like it. 😀

    Social Media Break

Posted by Team Archie in Blogs | 0 comments

I mentioned last week that I have deleted the twitter and instagram apps from my phone. Why? So I could see how much more time I would have on my hands without them.

I would, without even thinking, pull my phone out, click on these apps, and start looking through photos, and what’s going on in other people’s lives. Not only that, you come across pictures and comments of what other people think about your life. This curiosity of what others think of you starts affecting your own view of who you are, whether it be blowing things up so your head gets big, or being hurt by the very opinionated people who happen to have an opinion about every detail of your life. But that’s beside the main point.

My main point is that I think I am on my phone for 60 seconds and I look at the time realizing 45 minutes have passed by. I was wasting too much time waiting for a new update, new picture, and imagining that I am connecting to the world when really I was becoming disconnected to reality— feeling unaccomplished and a little empty after all that time with each curiosity session of snooping around other people’s lives and what other snoopy people thought of my own life.

I am on a journey to not be so caught up in what everyone else thinks. What is the purpose in this? It is to care more about what I think. The more you are caught up in what everyone else thinks, you disregard yourself. “Nevermind what I think of myself and what is going on in my life! I am too busy worrying about what everyone else thinks of me!” I feel my brain was telling myself.

These same thoughts have gone through my mind throughout all of my life. Lately I have gotten so sick of them that I decided to try and shut the voices of others off, including the ones that got stuck inside my mind. The best solution I had for this was to stop looking at everything on social media. I cannot focus on very many things at once. When I am worried about what everyone else is telling me to do, or comparing myself to what other people are showing on twitter, Instagram, and other sites I cannot focus on what my own feelings are, or what that still, small voice within is trying to tell you.

    RESULTS:

How has this been going so far? Well, my thoughts and feelings are very connected to what comes out of me musically. The more in tune I am with myself, the more music comes out. It has been refreshing to get more of my own stories out through lyrics, or even with melodies. I am discovering that the only way to get this music out is to get rid of all of the other voices from my head. When I have all of the other voices going through my mind, whatever is coming out feels superficial, dead, and empty.

Now, am I disregarding social life and contact with other humans? No! Of course not! I have actually spent more time personally with people visiting them, spending time, and catching up with friends. I just need a balance of experiences spending time with these people along with the alone time to reflect more on what’s on my mind and in my soul.

I have been creating music with many of these friends and also with a lot of great writers. I am in Nashville to be more focused on this new music project and have been forming more of this story I feel like I need to tell in the next chapter. It is exciting for me, because I feel good in the process. I don’t really know where it’s all going or where it’ll end up, but the fact that I am trying is one of the greatest feelings about it. I’m not afraid of making mistakes like I used to, and sometimes you’ve got to fall so you know what it feels like to get back up. I think getting back on your feet to keep going can be a feeling that feels even better than smooth sailing the entire time. You may end at the same destination whether you fall or smooth sail the whole time, but something about pushing through and fighting the good fight makes the entire journey all worth it—perhaps even greater than the destination itself that you were moving towards.

    CONCLUSION:

What I am basically trying to say is I need silence in order to function. My quiet time is valuable to me. Everyone keeps asking me how things are in Nashville. I say “It’s really nice. It’s quiet.” Part of this is because I have decided to make this quiet time for me, but also this town is a place where I feel peace.

Whoever may happen to be reading this, I would encourage you to try this yourself, and delete your social media apps even if it’s for a couple of days and see how much more you notice about yourself and life in general. You’re not going to die without it, even if at first you feel like it and that you’re “behind the times.” It’s worth it. Trust me. Next week I will be back in Utah for the RootsTech 2015 convention. I will be singing a few songs and also premiering the music video I shot in Costa Rica last Summer. It’s a song I wrote that’s actually in Spanish, and is about finding yourself by looking in the past. If you’ll be there, then I suppose we will see each other then.

So glad this site has nothing but good things to say about David. Not trying to tell him what he should or shouldn’t do. That would throw anyone off. MT, always love a puzzle that results in a pic of David. You would think I could put that face together in the dark by now.

I was happy to read in the blog that David said he was no longer afraid of making mistakes like he used to be. I sometimes worry that his expectations of perfection hold him back. He holds himself to such high standards that I appreciated him saying he could fall and pick himself up and not lose his momentum. So good to see him moving forward.

So many happy pictures here. Thanks dja for bringing them to us in a bundle. Really lifts my mood to see that “greatest smile in the world”

I’m so glad to hear David say that he’s not worried about what other people think about him, like he used to be. He’s learned a great lesson at a young age. It took me many decades to get to that point, and sometimes I still let it bother me. When you do what you believe is right for you and you are happy with what you do, you are free to be yourself. That’s the best thing you can do for yourself and others around you. No more trying to impress anyone else. Of course, he doesn’t have to do anything to impress us. We all love him unconditionally, just for who he is. I hope he knows that his true fans feel this way. David, if you read this, just do your thing and be yourself. No judgement, just love from your fans.

Dang! David just gets better and better at ‘getting it’. How wise to realize that he was shutting himself off by keeping himself tuned in. I have found myself, like some of the rest of you have done, scaling back on my ‘social’ time… and I haven’t died (love that David). I may still spend a lot of time at my computer, but I’m doing a lot more with my hobby creating time. I’ve just found that I really don’t need to know what is going on in the lives of ‘friends and family’. So, once again, I owe David a thank you for pointing to another direction. One that I can use to become a better focused person.

    Dja,
I love the hodgepodge of hashags and pictures of writers all in one place. Great idea!

The new blog! He’s communicating with us! So important for a singer and his fans to have some kind of communication. He understands that it matters more what you think of yourself than what others think of you. A life lesson that many don’t learn until they’re much older. There’s no need to decipher every word he says. He’s in his twenties which is a time for introspection; I get that. As a fan, I’m just glad to hear that he’s working on new music and I can’t wait to hear that beautiful voice singing the new songs to us. And a few of the old ones too!

    Favorite line from the blog:

“….I have decided to make this quiet time for me, but also this town is a place where I feel peace.”

I agree that David is using communication in a more healthy way. It’s not that he has totally abandoned these media outlets, but he is being more conscious of when he uses them. The cell phone is too convenient a tool for a ” …curiosity session of snooping around other people’s lives and what other snoopy people thought of my own life.” He can still check in on his laptop when he needs to let us know what’s happening in his career. I think the majority of fans get why he is choosing to seek some peace and quiet to create music. I haven’t seen any significant drop in followers and the 2 timelines for messages to him that I have on my Tweetdeck are always updating. Fans are still showing great support.

hehe When I read that word snoopy in his blog, my mind went immediately to ninja fan. 😉

He has a very contemporary sound and much of his music is acoustically driven.

  48. While we often sit in judgement and criticize another young singer for his less than perfect voice or the mischievous antics of a 21 year old, he is doing more than I am now for the same worthy cause.

“An eBay auction for some of Justin Bieber’s childhood personal items has ended, raking in thousands of dollars for a good cause. This isn’t his first time at turning his attention towards helping others.

The auction gave fans a chance to buy the Stratford, Ontario pop star’s used Toronto Maple Leafs comforter, pillowcase, ceiling light and a pair of his Nike basketball shoes — all autographed by Bieber.

The winning bid on the shoes came in at more than $62,000, while the comforter sold for more than $6,000.

The pillowcase ended at more than $3,000, and the light was came in at just under $2,000.

The profits are going to help support Stratford’s House of Blessing food bank, and all items come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Bieber’s grandmother.

Bieber’s grandparents, Diane and Bruce Dale, donated the items to raise money for the food bank and organizers say Bieber signed them when he was in the area over the holidays.”

    Google shows other fundraising efforts.

Hi everyone. Thought I’d check out the David sites while watching the Grammys. I haven’t been commenting that much lately, but I just wanted to thank you for a place to go where David is always given lots of love and respect . You know, he really is trying to show himself to us through his blogs, his tweets, and eventually his new music. I prefer to take people at face value . It makes life a lot easier that way. Love you guys.

Abs, thanks for the AI clip of Savion Wright. I’ve missed the show so far this season, but that looks pretty good.

Great to visit here and see the comments from such nice people. I appreciate you all.

Savion Wright was one I liked too. He seems like a natural. Nice voice, talented, smooth, relaxed, with a little charm thrown in to round it all out. I hope he makes it into the top 24 and/or beyond. I think he’s got a good chance. I’d like to hear him sing a whole song to see what he can REALLY do.

    Thanks for the puzzle, too!

Refnaf is a great fan. She knows what its like to NEED a ticket when the box office is sold out. 😉 It pays to come to Saturday night chat in Unplugged. I hope the new video get posted on David’s OS after the premiere. I could use some fresh videos for our chat night.

There are a bunch of good singers, more than the usual 10 finalists. The judges will have a tough choice to make this season. It seemed that most auditioned with a guitar too. So they have been singing and playing for a big portion of their lives.

I liked that you posted a puzzle this week too! I encourage anything that entertains us. I missed you in chat this week. Do you have a note from your mom?

Seek and you shall find. I saw it happening in real time in chat on Saturday night as Refnaf had a ticket for Dayzee for Roots Tech 2015!

FYI, The new season of The Voice reality show starts on February 23.

I watched The Grammy Awards and couldn’t help imagining David going on stage to accept the first of many Grammy Awards in his career. #dreamsdocometrue

    Abrra,
LOL Nope, no note from my mom but hubby could probably give me one. I got new glasses last week, trifocals. UGH! I’m having a hard time getting used to them. I wanted that third (center) distance section for the computer. It might have been a mistake. I had a migraine from them Saturday night. So, I think I’m going to switch back and forth, from old glasses to new, until I get used to them. Anyone else ever try trifocals? Did you ever get used to them? I’m seriously having a hard time with them, at least for now. 😦 (hahaha Sorry, probably a lot more than you really wanted to know there.)

    Bebe,
I watched the Grammy Awards too, well, some of it. It was pretty good. I was surprised with the interpretation Pharrell Williams gave of Happy, but the latter part of the song sounded more like I expected so I did enjoy it. And I love the song Sam Smith won his awards for.

One really strange thing for me was the girl/woman who sang with her back turned to the audience. (I don’t remember her name.) I guess I could see the upside of that for her, complete anonymity off stage, but I wonder what she does in concert? Do people pay to go “see” her and not see her face when she’s singing? haha SO strange! I guess it takes all kinds. 😀

Like you, Bebe, I also thought about David getting an award, or even performing at the Grammy’s one day. Yes, sometimes #dreamsdocometrue *hoping*

One more thing about the Grammy’s. I liked that many of the performances were not big productions and I noticed lots of “message type songs” were sung, acknowledged, and awarded. I thought about David with that, too. Because, with a voice like his, all he really needs to do is stand there and sing, and it seems like maybe it’s coming back in style. Classy performances. If so, it’s perfect timing for David’s return to the music industry.

Make that two more things. LOL Did anyone else watch the pre-Grammy Red Carpet show? Those low cut dresses!! Good grief!! It’s a wonder things stayed where they belonged! #shocked

    Ok, I’m done now. 😀

MT the name of the woman that sings with her back to the audience is Sia, the man that produced her albim Chandelier, is from my town . His name is Jack Hogan and he was up for a grammy, I didn’t watch so I don’t know if he won.

Basically Sia is being rejecting to her fame when she turns her back on stage. This article talks about it.
“In an interview with NPR, Sia talked about looking at the direction she was heading and recognizing fame as her worst nightmare. She has zero interest in being famous or recognizable, and makes enough money writing pop songs for other people, which she’s been doing for 17 years now. She says she makes a good enough living writing for Rihanna and Christina Aguilera that she doesn’t have to worry about trying to promote her own stuff, and can actually actively work against her own rise (hence the alienating weirdness). In fact, she’s so anti-fame that she was super pissed a few years ago when “Titanium,” a song she wrote for someone else, was ultimately released with her vocals, without her knowledge. “Titanium” became a huge hit, in part because Anna Kendrick sang it naked in a shower in Pitch Perfect, and Sia wanted none of that.”

    Warning: strong language

    Potluck & Abrra,
Thanks for answering. That article explains a lot, including this part: “Sia doesn’t want to do concert tours or press circuits, so she just doesn’t.” Although, I recently saw a performance by her (also with her back turned) on the morning show Kelly & Michael so I guess she does a few things when necessary, probably because of the upcoming Grammy Awards performance. (I didn’t catch her name that time, either. LOL) But no, she never showed her face. It was actually sort of funny at the end because Kelly turned her back to the audience, and stood against the wall next to her, when talking to her after her performance.

    Sometimes “weird” works.

    Potluck,
I don’t know if either she or her producer won anything. I only caught part of the program and didn’t see them nominated.

Sia, Gimmick? Or not? Doesn’t really matter IMO she’s getting attention either way but the benefit is that her face isn’t known so she can come and go as she pleases.

David, its to late, we know your face 😍

I don’t like the sound of her voice, the back of her head or the erratic dancing of the dancer. Nada.

On the other hand I did like Sam Smith’s performance with Mary Blige. When he was interviewed he said the music started coming when he decided to be himself. I got curious and looked him up. I found it interesting that he’s been trying to make it in the music business since the age of sixteen with 8 different management teams because he was difficult to work with according to them. Well something finally clicked, either he grew up or found one that valued his artistry.

5 MORE DAYS! David will be singing and a new MV will be released!

Fans are really great. That was the way I got to go to MOTAB. Tamera from Ohio sent me one of hers since I wasn’t lucky enough to get a tkt. Then while there, another fan game me a tkt for the Sunday morning show because her flight was before mine. She got cheated all the way around because her flight was cancelled til the next day!
    #yesdavidiseenmotabtwice! #luckyme!

To me, that girl, Sia, is using some weird tactics. Seems the more weird you are, it’s a way for looking for attention. Look at Lady Gaga! I didn’t see Sia, I only watched the program here and there. It’s just hard for me to accept some of the junk they call singing when David is out there with a most beautiful voice. #maybesomedayhewillbethere

I have a caption for you for that vid – if you do not mind. ^_^

DA walks in and finds that the smooth surface of the plastic bowl is so comforting to his feet (TMI “overstimulation of the senses) that he puts all four feet in. Then discovers that he can let his whole self be comforted and ensconced in that little space, held in comfort for a while. He goes to sleep there dreaming of music. (What else!!) And DA dreaming of music… well, that is entertaining all by itself!

At length, he is found by his loyal fan who sits by with a determination to patiently accompany “the sleeper” and have faith in the dream. (note: the fan wears a bell so that DA will know when he is near. But this fan is careful about waking him. He knows it is worth the wait!!)

A dose of….. silly….. but I could not resist. I am sure many different “stories” could be made from this one vid. I did not watch any others.

Dogs will stick with you.” So true, cats are so independent!
