David Archuleta ~ Twenty-Four and There’s So Much More

Posted by djafan on Monday, January 19, 2015

David+Archuleta+0101

I saw Neil Young in concert in Frankfurt, Germany during the 70’s. It was in a gigantic gymnasium, everyone packed tightly together sitting cross-legged on the floor, (yes, sitting). Kind of like a relaxed mosh pit. The lights dimmed. A hush descended. Then this unassuming man slowly ambled onstage as though he was just wandering around and ended up there by accident and proceeded to blow us all away. Half the concert was with the band. The last half was just him sitting on a stool with a guitar and harmonica strapped to his head.

Neil Percival Young is still touring to sold-out concerts at the age of seventy.

I chose these two songs to share because I love them, and because the lyrics in Old Man: “Twenty-four and there’s so much more” and Hey Hey My My: “It’s better to burn out than to fade away” seem to sum up what Neil achieved in his lifetime and capture best what I hope for David.

Martin Luther King ~ I Have a Dream

Posted by Abrra on Monday, January 19, 2015

martin-luther-king-jr-achievements-5

Today in the USA we honor a fallen leader, Martin Luther King Jr. He was a leader not in the political (elected) sense, but in the spirit of humanity. Here is his “I Have A Dream” speech given at the March on Washington August 28, 1963. As many of us here grew up seeing these scenes of protesting crowds on the nightly news, we knew change for the better was on the horizon. We’re not there just yet, but the dream still lives.
