Happy Birthday David Archuleta

Posted by Abrra on Saturday, December 27, 2014

David-WYSYLM-Tulsa_sm16

Dear David,

We first met you when you were just 16 and on our TV screens every week for months. We feel like we have watched you grow from a child to a man over these last eight years. There were times when we worried that you had too much going on that might be overwhelming for you. At other times we experienced a David drought while you worked on writing or charity work.

It’s been a joy to follow you in your career because you gave us so much beyond the music. You gave us new friendships and the fun of visiting new cities to catch a concert. Being a fan gave us a chance to meet up with fan friends who shared the same excitement of seeing you for the first time in person. These may seem like small things, but they mean so much to us.

In honor of your 24th birthday, we would like to give something back to you. It has no tangible value nor is it something new but you could say it’s the gift that keeps on giving. We give to you our fan loyalty and support. We understand that it will take some time to get back on track with music and concerts. If you ever wonder if your fans will be there for your new music, the answer is YES!

Happy Birthday, David! From everyone at The Voice.

Oh Christmas Tree in NYC ~ David Archuleta

Posted by bebereader on Tuesday, December 23, 2014

2c94b342_o

David has shared with us that Christmas is his favorite holiday. Having grown up in New York City makes me wonder if he has ever seen in person the tree at Rockefeller Center. I remember that he was in NYC for the Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2008. The tree was probably in place, standing tall, unadorned but not yet lit with 45,000 LED lights. I hope he caught at least a glimpse.

The Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center makes holiday time even more special for those living in or near The Big Apple. You can’t do your Christmas or Hanukkah shopping in the city without taking a peek at the tree. At night is when it really shines, when it lights up all of midtown Manhattan. Main streets that are usually heavily trafficked are blocked off to make room for the thousands of tourists plus natives. Don’t drop a glove because when you look down, you can’t even see the ground. Snow in NYC at Christmas is a given but it’s magic snow that tickles your face as it melts. It never reaches the ground to turn to slush like normal snow does. Across the street, near St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the store windows at Saks Fifth Avenue are usually decked out in full glory, many times with a Nutcracker theme.

I can’t deal with the crowds now but I still see the tree from the car window when I’m in the city. I know exactly when to look between West 48th and 51st Streets, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It’s right there between the two office buildings. If I dare to turn away for even a second I miss it and I don’t want to. It’s a sight to behold!

My fascination for the tree stretches to it’s roots. This year the Norway spruce is 85 feet tall and weighs 13 tons. It took an eight-man team to carefully wrap, tie, hoist and secure it to the back of a flatbed trailer coming from Danville, Pennsylvania to midtown Manhattan. It lived on the property owned by a couple who bought their home two years ago but knew that the tree in their yard could one day be destined for greatness and be chosen for Rockefeller Center since it was scoped by the head gardener for Rockefeller Center as a possible specimen for the last few years.

“We look for Norway spruce because it holds up to the weight we’re putting on there, with all the lights and everything,” Rockefeller Center head gardener, Erik Pauze said. “It’s got to be able to hold on to its needles, and a Norway spruce does that well.”

When the tree is chosen and arrangements are made to take it to NYC, the celebration begins. Crowds gather to watch it being chopped down. It takes one full month to decorate, including the Swaroski star on top. Then it’s ready to be lit.

After the holidays are over the tree will come down and be made into lumber to be used to build homes. For the eighth year, the 2014 Christmas Tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Last year’s tree was used to help build exterior and interior walls for a home in Bridgeport, CT. Each year, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree continues to be a symbol of hope.

May this holiday season bring you all that you wish for, including new music from The Voice along with the opportunity to see him live on tour and to get together with fan friends!

Many blessings for joy and peace in the New Year!

Brooke + David Archuleta “Cherry Lane”

Posted by djafan on Wednesday, December 17, 2014

THIS FROM BROOKE WHITE ABOUT DAVID.

This guy, I can’t tell you the love and respect I have for him and his absolutely incredible talent which can only be surpassed by his character. Maybe he wins the #bestpersonIknow hashtag award. I’ve known him for years now since our Idol days, and have watched him grow from a shy teenage heart throb into such a great dude with such a solid sense of himself, God and all that is important in life. Since the return of his mission we’ve seen each other for a quick minute but have talked several times. Every one wants a piece of him, I knew people were beating down his door with requests and opportunities to lend his golden pipes so I was apprehensive at first to even ask him to do this, as a friend I try not to ask for anything 🙂 But given the nature of the project I figured it was worth asking, so I picked up the phone and gave him a call and told him about the cause. With in a few days he responded with an enthusiastic yes! Such great news! It just so happened that we would both be in Nashville at the same time, this in itself is a miracle.

So he came to Daniel Tashian’s studio on a Friday and the three of us wrote and recorded “Cherry Lane”, one of the happiest songs of the whole record…. stylistically it probably leans a bit more my direction with it’s throw back vibe, but the soothing sound of his voice on this call and answer chorus is what makes it completely magical. You don’t understand, his pitch perfect tone is at such a world class level, and it’s baffling, and yeah, nerve racking to even have my voice on the same track. Seriously, I get a tear whenever I hear him sing. Who doesn’t?! Anywho, “Cherry Lane” is a song for us grown ups, it was that first street I grew up on, it represents a simpler happy time and place when we’d “rather stay outside and play than stare down at the phone all day”. It’s emotional too though, David’s voice beckoning “we could go back, we could go back to where we were”. Thanks David for being a part of this. Also, funny side note, I was so excited that I called my parents from Nashville to tell them about the song the next day, and my mom said “oh honey, the street was actually called “cheery lynn”…. haha, ah well, cherry lane/ cheery lynn, tomato /tomahto close enough 😉

We’ve reached over 60% of our goal! Please help spread the word and get us over the hump!

“Never Grow Up” Charity Album : Links to this worthy cause are bolded.

I am supporting O.U.R. in their mission to save children from slavery by getting all of you involved in a charity album!

O.U.R., comprised largely of former NAVY Seals, Special Agents and members of the CIA, sets up and engages in missions with the purpose of rescuing kidnapped children from sexual slavery throughout the world. In October, one such mission resulted in 55 children being freed from sex slavery in Colombia. Another recent undercover mission into Haiti was documented thoroughly here to give supporters a sense of how much planning one of these missions takes.

Each mission costs roughly $20,000, so White’s goal of $25,000 in pledges will result in $20,000 being donated to help pay for one mission, with the rest of the pledges being used to cover production and shipping costs. But that’s not all. With Foundation Entertainment’s matching offer, a successful campaign will mean that two missions can be carried out instead of just one.

To learn more about Operation Underground Railroad, visit their Ways to Help page, their O.U.R. Process page or their Become an Abolitionist page.

A Teenager’s View of David Archuleta

When we saw the One Voice Children’s Choir sing “Glorious” on YouTube, my mom got her credit card and bought tickets to the “Celebration of Christ” concert, knowing my Grandma was going, and that DAVID WOULD BE THERE! I had been watching David’s “Glorious” video multiple times a day for weeks, and I couldn’t get enough of it. His face is so sweet! In fact I have to keep drawing it :).

The whole show was amazing, but I couldn’t help but glance at the program often to see when David would be singing next. I felt so happy when he came out and performed his first number “The First Noel”. David sang a neat arrangement of “Do You Hear What I Hear” that he finished with a low, resonating note. I was enthralled. My mom and I squealed when we saw “Glorious” in the program (I think that song will be a forever favorite). Hearing David sing the lead with the children’s choir harmonizing was exactly what I had hoped! The beautiful first piano notes transported me into the song immediately. I really hope David records “Believe” (from Polar Express), his voice was incredible (I feel torn because I really like how Josh Groban sings the song, yet there’s something about David).

When we saw Masa Fukuda conducting the children’s choir in their YouTube video, we wanted to meet him! And we did! At the end of the concert, as he was exiting the building, we were able to tell him how much we enjoyed the choir. It was a treat to hear inside tidbits he told us of how David helped ease the children’s anxiety before they appeared on America’s Got Talent. David assured them he often gets nervous too. We also heard Stephanie Mabey (the composer of “Glorious”) is a sister to some former One Voice choir members. Mr. Fukuda was as adorable in person as he appears in the video.

I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but I really do want to hear David’s voice in my mind and heart at all times. I was so glad to be able to go to the concert. What a thrill :).
