Happy Thanksgiving from The Voice – David Archuleta

Posted by bebereader on Wednesday, November 26, 2014

thanksdavidvoicepicture edit Angelica

On this Thanksgiving 2014, once again we will get together and reconnect with family and old friends while enjoying a delicious feast just like at the first Thanksgiving when Native Americans and New Englanders came together to share a meal. We will celebrate and count our blessings, big and small.

To David: Thank you for the joy you bring to our lives. The best is yet to come!

Wow! Great artwork up top by Angelica. It’s beautiful!

I’ll bet David has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. For the first time in the last few years, he is home with his family for the holiday.

I have a lot to be thankful for, too. Good health, family and friends, and a roof over my head and food on my table, which many in other places don’t have. I feel very fortunate. I am also grateful to David for sharing his beautiful voice with us over the years. And last but not least, I am grateful for the admins and posters here who I’ve come to know. #muchlovetoall ♥

Wishing a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to every one of you here at THE VOICE! May you always have much to be grateful for.

OK Bebe, I made your cranberry sauce recipe with whole cranberry sauce and drained mandarin oranges with pecans. Something didn’t seem quite right so I put it all in my Viking mixer and pureed it. Then I put it in the freezer and in the morning I will puree the frozen mixture again and possibly fold in cool whip or cream cheese. I’ll let you know how it turns out! photo cranberry-sauce.gif

Well off to bake some pies. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Don’t eat more than I would.

    Fenfan: Amen!

Angelica, I think you over thought the recipe. There is no cooking involved. It’s so simple that all you need is a can opener. It takes about two minutes to prepare and everyone loves it.

Cranberry Orange Relish with Chopped Pecans

1 large can of whole cranberry sauce (cold)
1 one small can of mandarin oranges (cold)
    chopped pecans or walnuts

Open the can of whole berry cranberry sauce and spoon it into a bowl.

Drain the mandarin oranges in a colander and add them to the cranberries.
    Found this picture online:

Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the top and serve.

I’m curious to know how your recipe turns out, Angelica!

Please, everyone, share your Thanksgiving recipes here!

    Cranberry Relish

1 bag of frozen cranberries (I use frozen because we don’t have fresh here)
Half a pineapple (I use fresh because that’s what we have here), cut into small pieces
Thumb sized piece of fresh ginger, julienned
    Small stick of cinnamon
Brown Sugar (I don’t measure, just add to taste so I don’t know the quantity)
    salt and pepper

Put cranberries and pineapple, cinnamon and ginger in a pot with a bit of water. Bring to a boil. When cranberries pop, add sugar. Stir every now and then to prevent the relish from sticking to the bottom. When sugar melts and the liquid is reduced so that you get a thick pulpy sauce, the relish is ready – about 10 minutes or less. Season with a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper if you like.

    Happy Thanksgiving all!
Not crazy about cranberries, but I have a book called Cranberry Thanksgiving that I used to read to my kids,
and there is a really good recipe for Cranberry Bread that I used to make. Can’t find the book now!
It’s going to be a quiet day here, only my husband and 2 of our kids. I couldn’t bear the thought of going
to a huge dinner with 30 people.

So grateful for everything, and all of you.

    Abrra,
I watch Top Chef and always have. This season, they are where you are. 🙂
They made the contestants go out into the water and harvest the cranberries,
then make something delicious with them. 🙂 Some of the food looked great.

Bebe, yes I did over-think the recipe but it turned into an awesome dessert. After freezing I added a can of pineapple chunks, pureed again and then folded in a tub of Cool Whip and more pecans and refroze. Hubby LOVES it!

We had a quiet dinner here, just the 2 of us too, Betsy. Just watching a lot of football and recovering from too much turkey and dressing and pie.

Thankful for so many things this year, especially for God who loves me more than I deserve and for family, friends, and all of you who are both to me.

Look at David in the picture in #23, surrounded by all the holiday food. He looks like a kid in a toy store. I’m projecting but he must feel so good this year, spending Thanksgiving at home with his family. I guess I’m just so happy for him. Although it’s nice to visit, there’s nothing like the Thanksgiving food you grew up with, the familiar holiday foods that you’ve eaten your whole life. It’s the traditions that bind families together.

We spent time with my husband’s family this year. Back home again now with leftovers. Tired but feeling blessed.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  30. Bebe,

Do all Taureans just not sleep much?? Maybe just not too deeply!

Try fresh cranberries with organic sugar, the juice of an organic orange and the grated rind. The flavour is so good. If you use 4 cups of berries you will have enough left for awhile and even better than jam on toast, really!!

If you have leftover cranberry relish you can make cranberry shortbread.

    http://www.joyofbaking.com/barsandsquares/CranberryShortbreadBars.html

I have tried this recipe – the shortbread is delicious.

You don’t have to make the filling from scratch.

    Just use your leftover relish.

Looking forward to all the videos of the coming concerts!

Love all the new David photos, especially the one with the sideways impish look.
