Pattirae was lucky enough to attend Friday night’s charity event in Utah for Rising Star Outreach in which David performed six songs. And we are the lucky recipients of her recap below.
Hello everyone,
I can’t even believe what I am about to tell you today but I was there last night to hear our “glorious” David and precious Lexi perform at the Rising Star Outreach event. When David opened his set with “The Riddle” I started to cry. I was not expecting that and it was amazing to me to experience how much I had missed him and how absolutely beautiful his voice was to hear in person again.
My husband’s cousin Ron (on the board of directors for RSO) called us last week to invite us to this wonderful event. He knows of my love for all things David and I will forever be grateful for his generosity and love. It was so good to be with Ron, his wife Kay, and their daughter Lauren and husband.
We were sitting close to the front and by a warm fire pit outside by a swimming pool. David was getting cold after his set so they pulled up some chairs for him and Lexi to sit by the fire AND right in front of us. I have a picture of his back and him reaching his hand back to feel some heat by the fire. I could have touched him—but refrained myself. Haha
Lexi’s set was incredible and they sang a few songs together. I have some videos but don’t know how to transfer them here from my phone. HELP!! He told of his experience in India when the children sang “Somebody Out There” to him, the song he had written for THEM. When he then sang it you could hear a pin drop. Unbelievable!! (yes, I shed a few tears then also.)
When he said he was going to sing “Glorious” everyone cheered. It was so exciting! It was also fun to hear him sing “Stand By Me” again. After a short video and some speaking about RSO he and Lexi got up from where they were sitting by us to sing their last song together, “Prayer of the Children.”

They took some professional pictures at the end with David and Lexi and guess what? My husband Delos and I were the first ones to have our picture taken with him. He saw us with Ron and remembered us from other events we have shared with him and Ron (and maybe the million times I have had my picture taken with him at Meet and Greets!!)

Anyway, I just have to say that his voice is better than ever, and he is so handsome that I had a very difficult time looking at him and talking to him. 🙂
I loved meeting Gwen, who was sitting beside me. She flew in from Dallas for the event and we soon learned of our groupie status with each other. She was so much fun taking videos and pictures the whole time (we were almost the only ones being so bold.) I was so glad to hear from Kari that some video will show up from the event.
Can I just say also how fun it was to see Kendra again. She is so beautiful and so talented. The whole evening was a dream come true and one I will remember forever.

I was listening to @leximaewalker at sound check for last night’s event for #RisingStarOutreach. Here she was singing the Disney song ‘God Bless the Outcasts’ from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Wow! This 12 year-old little gal fills your heart and soul with her voice. It was great getting to perform with her last night and with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains.

Sounds like a wonderful evening, Pattierae! Thank you for sharing!!!! Here’s hoping someone comes to your rescue to help you get those videos off your phone (that would not be me!). I find it interesting that they would schedule this as an outdoor event in October in Utah. I’m just glad David was able to keep warm… love seeing that gloved hand. 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the RSO concert. There are so few and precious chances that we fans get to see and hear David sing live, you hit the jackpot. Lexi did a great job as well. She will remember that night forever, too.

Collegemom, To answer your question about the piano—Kendra played all the songs. Also Tawna, about the gloves—about half way through David’s set, when they could see how cold they both were, they brought gloves for David and a huge blue coat for Leximae. In their last song together you can see her wearing that coat! We were all a little chilly, and if we hadn’t been sitting right by that fire would have been cold!! I was amazed how well they both sang in spite of the cold in the air. Since I didn’t take any videos of Leximae, you may want to go to YouTube and type in her name. I love the video of her singing Frozen with Alex Boye.
My special thanks to bebereader for posting my experience at this RSO event. We are all encouraged to sponsor a child or donate to Rising Star Outreach as it is such a worthy cause. The film they showed of those with leprosy and the care given to them by RSO volunteers and the words spoken about their experiences were so touching that it made you want to be a part of it
It was a special evening for sure and I am glad The Voice wanted to share it with all of you. I will try to get my grandson to help me today with the videos. Gwen had a better view (I was fighting someone’s head during my videos) but at least you can hear him sing. I didn’t get a video of The Riddle, his first song (boo hoo) because I didn’t think it possible. Then when Gwen pulled out her phone and started taking videos, well for sure ” I am too!!” So I think I got all the rest of his set plus the last song with the two of them singing, “Prayer of The Children.”

I can only imagine how it felt to be there and hear David sing live again, in person, front and center. I had to giggle when I read this part:

It hit home with me because that’s how I feel at every VIP. LOL

Wow, Pattirae, thank you so much for sharing your experience! I remembering unexpectedly bursting into tears when David started singing The Riddle at Foxwoods waaaay back during the 1st Christmas tour so I can only imagine how it felt to hear him sing it now after all this time.
It’s such a great cause, was happy to support it & so proud of David for continuing to support it.

David has certainly grown into a handsome gentleman and Lexi is a beautiful young girl. And both with such gorgeous voices! How very fortunate you were to be able to attend. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to sit and listen to David sing so close to you. Like everyone else, I’m waiting with fingers crossed for videos.

I agree with the lead off pic being the best in a while. Those 2 are just awesome and David looks better every day! He looks so relaxed and happy.
On a side note, my oldest daughter was married this weekend and I got to dance with the groom with David singing! His voice was hypnotic blaring all through the hall! 🙂

Thank you for the mp3. Too funny that Pattirae didn’t get the recording, but her husband did. He’s always got her back in the little (no, the big) things (remembering the phone propped up on the water glass at the Mentor’s Gala).

Tawna, it was “Forevermore”! I was busy talking and dancing when it came on and it took a second to sink in. I thought omg, that’s David and he sounds sooooo good! Later, he sang “You Are My Song” and it was awesome. I couldn’t help telling everyone…♫♪that’s David singing again!♪♫ 🙂 My daughter is also a big fan of David’s. 🙂

Thanks for posting the video, Bebe! That guy sure has given us some good memories!! Thanks, David! I really think he knows what an asset he is now to us fans that so love him and his voice! He is taking his time doing what he wants and how he wants to do it. Kudos to David! So happy for him.
Love him singing The Riddle. The lucky dogs that got to hear that had to be in 7th heaven! Oh to be able to hear him sing live again!

Tawna, you made me laugh out loud by remembering my husband’s stealth video tapes of David’s performance at the Mentor’s Intl. gala. He can be tricky at times for sure. I can’t believe that you remember him putting the camera on top of a glass to film it. At the top of this recap page there is a reference to my Mentor’s Intl recap. I clicked on it and there it all is—the recap, pictures, and the “stealth” four videos of David singing. So much fun to remember that night so long ago—-so much fun meeting his mom and being with David that entire evening. It was so fun to be there with so many of you also. Wow, the memories are flooding to my heart right now.
I’m still trying to get videos to ya’ all. Please be patient with me. Hopefully by tomorrow!!

Pattirae, another great post! The Mentor’s recap post was very good reading. Evidently, I wasn’t on here at The Voice yet, because I hadn’t read it before. So, I was glad that WordPress reprinted it here right at the right place. So happy that you got to go and enjoy meeting David and Lupe. These are things that dreams are made of! 🙂 And last night was the icing on the cake. You are such a sweet lady and you deserve it all!

His voice is as pure and as strong as ever but I hear a new dimension now. It’s very subtle but it’s there. I never thought his voice could get any better but there you go.
I daresay he is BEDAZZLING!

That voice! Still as great as ever, perhaps even better. And he’s looking great but looking so cold poor thing. As for the songs, all are fabulous but for me …. Stand By Me is the winner. Love the way he changed it again. Just WOW! And he and Lexie’s duet was so good!

Dja, I agree. He is so natural and it still irks me when I think of what Simon said on the Ellen show about them wanting Cook to win. He said that they wanted someone that sang in the bars and poolhalls, not someone that’s been primed to sing! Heard him with my own ears and it infuriated me! David is a born singer and will be remembered way after some of these so called singers lights go out! End of rant! :)) hehe

Jan, I remember that Ellen show. Simon said David was too boring to be an idol. I can only pity such a jaded attitude, but tonight I have no room in my heart for negative thoughts.

Everything about this night was amazing! David is an incredible person who is so kind and genuine! His voice….divine!! Kendra Lowe is Einstein-ette when it comes to music. The Keller home was so beautiful in every way and the people who came were super fun to talk with afterwards! Rising Star Outreach knows how to raise awareness about Leprosy and make a difference in the kids lives who are affected by it. Thanks for letting me apart of it!!!

Agree with you MT, Stand by Me is the winner! It’s smashing! I love it, especially from around 6.30min onward.
I think that “darling, darling” at 7.04 would make a great ring tone.
To think he has sung this countless times and yet he can still make it sound different. What genius!
I think this is his best version of the song yet – his grown up interpretation. It makes my heart ache as I listen to it on repeat.
Did you hear the “yeah” at 6.40? And then at 6.48 – “whenever you need a friend, whenever you’re feeling lonely” – Oh my.
I hope he sings like this in his new album.

Guys, I have to ask if I’m the only one who noticed that David’s vibrato has really gotten so smooth it’s almost undetectable yet gives such a richness to his voice that it’s killing me. LOL
Start at 6:41 in Stand By Me, the second time he sings “stand”, geez that’s new. And how gorgeous does he sound?!??!
I can’t stop listening to that song. His voice is out of this world. Did singing in Spanish make him do that? Has he actually been aware and perfecting it on purpose? IDK but I am loving the way he works his voice now!
And I love that rehearsal video. Thank you Abrra for bringing it over. So good!
Ok, since I’m the only one going nuts over the videos today, I guess I’ll stop now. haha

This brought me to tears. This is why David needs to share his blessing with the world and I believe, truly believe it will happen.
Message for David:
Dear David,
You mean a lot to me that I don’t even know how to start this.. You have always been my biggest inspiration, it all started when I heard you sing “When You Believe” on American Idol. I’d never seen the show before, it wasn’t aired in my home country, Taiwan. But for some reason, a foreign channel in Taiwan aired American Idol Season 7 as New Year special tribute. I was browsing the TV, and I heard you sing. I didn’t understand English, and I had no idea what the song was about. It was just so beautiful that I started crying.
I started looking for you online and following your news. It propelled me to learn English so I could understand you and your music better. I bought your book “Chords of Strength” and read it. It wasn’t easy, I had to look things up on dictionary almost every word I read. But eventually, I finished it and I felt really happy that I got to know your story.
Years after, I am still one of your biggest fans. I am glad you have come back from your mission and started to share your talents with the world again. Thankfully, I sang this song and posted it as to tell you how much you have influenced thousands of thousands of people’s lives. I am proud to be one of them.
You made me believe in possibilities, it’s been a long journey, but it’s been really amazing. Thank you.

I listened to all of them with my Bose headsets and my gosh the nuances, the tone, that rich controlled vibrato you speak of, those falsetto’s, all of these things are to die for. See you’re not alone.

The rehearsal of “Whole New World” #74 has me glued to the computer. If not the computer then I’m glued to my IPhone.
I agree about the new maturity in David’s voice especially in “Stand By Me” but I crave new material. That’s why I am hooked on WNW and Glorious.
I always liked “Whole New World” and wished that David would cover it one day.

Incredible. This just keeps repeating in my head as I listen to these videos. David’s voice is really something else..words are failing me. His “Somebody Out There” just killed me.
I am happy he is still singing and performing like this, and I hope this is a mere glimpse of what we will get from him in the near future. David’s voice touches my heart and spirit like no other….ever.

Dayzee, I know right? That is why he is an international celebrity, people around the world get him. The radio stations not in the US are playing Glorious and countless other David songs daily.
Fenfan, How was that comparison of the SBM’s?
Bebe, I liked the rehearsal better. As nice as Lexi’s voice is I would of preferred a mature woman’s voice for the duet, that’s just me.

Oh my goodness! That video with Teddy is beautiful! What a beautiful young man. This is what David is all about. This is what he does to and for people. He inspires us to be better.
And then we have the ones that take us from tears of wonderment at the accomplishments and bravery of a young man, to the tears of happy, big smiles – so big they squeeze tears from our eyes – from a 4- year old. What a cutie!!

Djafan, given the kind and variety of songwriters he’s been working with lately, I’m thinking if he releases an album full of mature-sounding and amazing songs a la Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz and mounts a tour like them — I might possibly lose it, possibly spontaneously combust! Celebration of Christ
For three performances in November, David Archuleta will headline “Celebration of Christ ~ An Interfaith Concert” at the Capital Theater in Salt Lake City.
It will take place at the following dates and times:
November 28, 2014 (Friday) – 7:30 PM
November 29, 2014 (Saturday) – 2PM and 7:30PM
David will be performing four Christmas songs at the “Celebration of Christ” concerts. The event also features Kevin Olusola from Pentatonix, and the One Voice Choir returning from a stellar performance on “America’s Got Talent.” The program includes special guest choirs a full orchestra, and a dance ensemble drawn from nine different faiths uniting in Christianity to celebrate the birth and life of Jesus Christ in music, dance, and special effects. The event is presented by Vic Deauvono & 4Life Foundation.
Tickets for all three shows go on sale Friday October 31 at 12 noon MT. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.arttix.org/.

Interfaith performers include the Catholic Diocese Madelline Choir, Calvary Baptist, First Presbyterian, Methodist SL Mass, Episcopal, Seventh Day Adventist, LDS, Nondenominational faiths.
Run time: 1 hour 40 minutes including 15-20 minute intermission.
Recommended for ages 5 and up. No babes in arms. All patrons must have a ticket regardless of age.

Very exciting news about the concert. So hope many of you can go. Too far away for me for now.
Need to comment on David’s concert with Lexi. The biggest change I see in the newer David is his confidence. He is so obviously in charge of every aspect of being up there (except for being a frozen popsicle). This reflects in how he sounds, looks and presents. He has swagger and I am so glad. I hope some day he sings more songs like “Stand By Me”. He seems to enjoy it so much and so do we !
Been fun listening to some of the “Glorious” recordings. So many good (and brave) singers! It is interesting to contrast their performances with David’s. The ease with which he sings and that glorious warm tone sets him apart from the world. More preachin to the choir, huh.

Oh yeah!!!! I walked into Desert Book Store today, and almost instantly realized that David was singing over the sound system in the store!!! They were playing the new, soon to be released, CD by Nashville Tribute, “Reedemer”. How I was lucky enough to walk in right when David was singing his track is beyond me. It’s a beautiful song. ♥

I think David pays attention to every single syllable of every single word in every sentence in every song he sings. Someone once said that he caresses every syllable in a song. There’s no voice like his.
