If he feels so passionate about the song he just wrote it will transfer over to us, ten fold! I hope he’s able to write more music with that particular Nashville songwriter because perhaps he or she was able to bring out something in his writing that the others could not, thus far.

I wrote this the other day… before we got such fun news. ^_^
I had wondered if I should post it, because I know that I often can sound “serious” and I guess I worry that I may come across as sad somehow. Um. No. I was not sad when I wrote the comment I am posting below. I just wanted to acknowledge the change and effect DA’s new M.O. was having on me in the hopes that my expression of those feelings might ease someone else. I love the support we offer and share as we travel together to this (always) new place.
So, I decided to go ahead and post it now, even though it may seem a bit “past-times”. One of the reasons for this, is because of his new post, oddly enough. You see, I really believe that the more “real” his music is to him, the more intimate and connected to his soul, then all the more effort he will make to bring it to us. Will he be more vulnerable? Quite possibly. But also more driven to sing. Because only then can he find out what he has written.
I say this as a person who writes manuals, who teaches. I never really know what the material means that I am so passionate about (although I think I do! ^_^), until I teach and share it with others. This brings me to a place of deep humility and wonder as I see others come to “own” tools and concepts that express their marvelous inner being. With every class I learn anew that although I may be the writer and purveyor, I can never truly “own” the truth that is purveyed. It is within all of us. And we shine.
So, with that as a (sorry for the l.o.n.g.) prelude (I shake my head at myself…. and smile) here is the post I wrote earlier that I waited to share.

What do you teach me by your “silence”? That, is something each heart must decide for itself. Perhaps this is harder in its way, than watching you struggle on AI: then, we at least had the experience of feeling a part of your struggle. Now, I must watch you struggle (or grow, or worry, or plan, or make key decisions, etc) without having the feeling of being somehow close, and a co-partaker, celebrator.
But that is no different than it is with my own children, who grow up, and who share, but from a different place, a different perspective. This is a “closeness” that seems fraught with danger, yet the message from you repeats: safety. It may seem to consist mainly of distance, when in fact, as you become closer to yourself, you will ultimately deliver an ever more richness of intimacy with each offering you bring.
I always notice your footwear. (^_^ Angelica spoke long ago of “tying shoes”). Well, it did not escape me that you wore sandals to the ice-bucket party. I do not know the reason for the constant footwear. None-of-my-business. But it reminds me of some of my own idiosyncrasies. One of them being a tendency to sensory overload.
If I were a person who needed solitude and relative quiet to fully “come to myself”, (which I am), than I would relish the relative “quiet” of going my own pace, of having a private time that I did not have to constantly share and explain. This is not necessarily the most convenient attribute for a person in the entertainment business. But, we are who we are.
And you have always known that the light inside of you never comes fully to fruition, to its immediate and lasting bond of connection, to its one true realization of meaning….. until it comes into contact with our own.
So, sooner or later DA, not only will we hear your songs for the first time….. so will you.

Much of what you said hit home with me. While I can sometimes be impatient, I can understand a need for solitude because there are times I need that myself. And yes, I do believe that with personal inspiration that comes from deep within, and self-discovery in his writing, he will come to a point where he needs to share it with someone. ( LOL Could that someone be us? 😉 )

Bluesky, your article is very interesting. So many of the things you covered has went through my mind at one time or another and you put all those things in the right words to explain.
I know that every time I hear David sing, it’s like the first time. It’s not that I forget that he is good and I love the sound of his voice, but when I hear it again the magnificence is there again and I just totally enjoy every note of every song.
Abrra, a few weeks ago in chat you asked me if I could send photos of the Elders. They were here again today and I asked them if it was ok to post their photo and they said sure. So, I emailed them to you and I hope I did it right and you will receive both of them. Let me know, ok?

The feels…those were the first words out of my mouth when I read the tweet that marks a moment, a special moment for David. Then we get that snippet “open my eyes” and I hear that wondrous voice and dang that patience goes out the window for a moment and I want it now!!! haha
We are so ready but then I calm myself down because I want David to take all the time he needs to put out music that he feels and when he is ready so it can be right for us, like he said. I will wait.

Thank you Bluesky from the bottom of my heart! I think the elders came into my life this summer for a reason, just like David came into my life over 6 yrs ago for a reason. The elders were here to give me some moral support over some issues I was having and David showed up just when my hubby passed and his music filled a void then and still does. There are days and dates that come up and his music is always there to comfort me. As well as words from you guys on here…kind of like a family and a home away from home. I love all you guys and what you have done for me. If I sound a little melancholy, it’s because yesterday was the day I lost my daughter 32 yrs ago and it’s always hard. The elders were very helpful in letting me “borrow their couch”! It’s always better to talk about things to get them off your mind, but yet you don’t want to burden people with your troubles. They are just here to comfort when needed and that’s the way it’s been here. Thanks to you all! ♥

Dja, The feels…YES, Yes, yes! That happens every time I see a tweet or instagram from him. And this, “We are so ready but then I calm myself down because I want David to take all the time he needs to put out music that he feels and when he is ready so it can be right for us, like he said. I will wait.” Exactly the way I feel. BTW, I hope your dad is doing much better.
I remember all the fun times I had attending BYU after my mission. I do hope David is able to have that experience because IMO it will just add to his maturity and give him more personal experiences, along with gaining educational insight. I’m good with it either way. He knows what is best for his growth as a person.
Just feeling a bit nostalgic today and remembering all the wonderful fan friends I’ve met on this “David Archuleta” journey. My concert fund is till growing and I’ll be ready when it happens, cuz I know it will at some point! Can’t wait to see everyone again and meet you all that I haven’t met in person yet. You all make my days brighter with your posts and comments.

Thanks, Sweetonda and Bluesky. Got your hug! ♥ Another good thing out of the Elder friendship is that I became friends with Elder Stallings’ mom. She is on my FB now and she is so sweet. David has brought so much in my life, in more ways than one. Every time I send him a card, it is always thanking him and this time I found a card that has a whole page of adjectives describing what he’s done and how his music makes me feel. He’s probably sick and tired of them by now! haha I always tell myself that I’m not sending any more, but then something comes up that I think that he would think interesting, so out goes another card! 🙂
I went to one of my grand daughter’s 1st anniversary party and they let one of the radio stations know and they “crashed” the party(that’s what they do) and gave some different gifts and recorded an interview that was later run on the radio. It was really fun and different.

Thanks for saying that. We are all on a very special journey with David as he grows into the Man he will continue to become. At some point, I let go of my sadness at his not making constant vlogs for us like the did for 3 years!! Now, I respect that he has HAD TO carve out time and space for himself just to find himself, catch his breath and really delve into all the creative aspects of his music. The way he stands next to his fans when they ask for photos actually – often – seems like he gets a bit CLOSER to them than before. Perhaps that was a gift of his mission – feeling more comfortable – physically – around others. I can only speculate. What I know is that he will thank us for hanging in there with him – there will be something on the liner notes of the album when it comes – and yes, we we all be in Big Trouble. Do not drive and listen to a new CD from David for the first time. Tears, love, changes, Providence – we’re all in this. And it is all very, very good. Blessings, Patricia

This was posted on FOD by “Someone”
Watching so closely, a person can take something personally that was absolutely not meant that way. David holds no resentment toward fans and did not mean to give offense with the tweet. It was simply his way of indirectly confirming what some fans already know without alerting all 1.38M followers of where to find him on a given day lol.
Please be assured that music is still happening. Things are in the works.
And because I know someone will ask this, NO I cannot give you “proof” of why to believe me. This is just something I wanted to come here and say. Feel free to scroll right on by

How can anyone say bad things to David? He would never hurt anyone. It might make him withdraw even more and that wouldn’t be good at all. I think that’s why he’s not telling everyone every move he makes. He said one time “there is always someone that hates your guts, no matter what you do!” Those fans don’t own the guy, leave him alone!

The memo I got told me that: there is no DA Beeb-Robot in existence. No one alive by the DA brand name who lives only for the reflection of the fan’s (no matter how nice) opinions of him. (would I want someone so vulnerable? so dependent on “optics”?) Also: There has been no other-worldly re-incarnation (Dr Who style) of one of our favorite people. DA is just now able to be the “Who” Whom he is. He gently teaches me every day that the truest guide lies within.
And I can just restate all I said above (a few posts above): There is no greater gift he can give than his true self. There is no other gift I would want or would value as much. His joy is my joy.
If you can stand one more silly book or song title:
“Go, Dog, Go!!”

Sometimes when there is a perceived ‘vacuum’ I might have the tendency to fill it with my own fears. That is natural for me. I have done it. Lots. I am neither the ‘perfect fan’ (if there is such a thing!) nor the worst. I am just human. I just love what DA does with music and a heart-message. I love what I see, feel, and hear when he shares from his soul.
Some of that is – of necessity – mine. (or every fan’s that has a like experience)
Also, to quote an old saying: “No one said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it.” Speaking for myself – with all my faults – if it brings him joy, it is worth it. Whatever else it may bring to me, personally.
Peace, love, joy, to ALL his fans. I really believe you are the best fans ever.

Trust me, you are not talking to yourself. There are many who read this site even if they don’t comment. And the ones who do comment are listening, too.
For the record, I am very happy that David is getting a higher education. He has a thirst for knowledge and college is just the place to explore many different avenues. The timing is right. I am hopeful for the future and his music. He may not put it out as fast as before because with a heavy course load, he may not have as much time. Or he may surprise us! In any case, I will deal with it.
When I signed on as a fan almost seven years ago, I wasn’t clueless. I knew he was very young with a future ahead of him. and although I didn’t want to think too far ahead, I realized that college was on the horizon. He’s not just a singer but a human being, after all, with hopes, ambitions and feelings like the rest of us and with the potential to go very far. I wish him all the best life has to offer; he certainly deserves it!
Blue, I keep this in mind too. “No one said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it.” Amen!

I know that the fan base is amazing at keeping up to date, probably much better at that than I am (since 99% of the time I only read and post on this site) – but that yes, I do in actuality talk to myself from time to time. *_* It comes I think, from spending so much time writing and wondering.
First sign of insanity? Naw… that happened when I raised kids. ^_^

We know David has a thirst for learning. He’s showed it to us for the last almost 7 years. He doesn’t just travel when he travels, he absorbs whatever is around him and learns more about wherever he is. He is not, and never will be, a star who makes his name by throwing eggs, or dancing in suggestive ways, or getting arrested for being stupid and throwing a fit about it. He is already a star. One who will shine brightly for a very long time because of the quality of music that he presents and the example of life that he lives. He is letting us know, in my opinion, with his latest tweet that he knows he is finally in control of where his life goes, and he wants us to know that. We should all be as happy for him as he is for himself. No more powers that be to control his destiny. Good luck, David! You have our hearts and we have your back. Works for me!! 🙂

First let me say this – I am not a stalker! LOL
But…
I googled Cannon Center. Now I know what they serve at the Commons at Cannon Center. Also all about BYU student meal plans. If I were a student I would go for the all-you-can-eat Open Door 7. Only thing is it costs $1915 for one semester. Is that considered expensive or cheap?
Don’t throw tomatoes – I love to eat, so I had to find out.

Break it down to cost per day and get back to me. That’s how I would decide if its worth it.
On the practical side, if I was a student, having meals/snacks available in close proximity to classes and activities would be a huge factor in choosing the all you can eat plan.
I am glad that David has chosen to follow his heart and mind about college. The fan base angst just keeps on going. I don’t think some are ever satisfied no matter what he decides.

I am not familiar with the American school system so I don’t know how many days there are in one semester. That makes it a bit difficult for me to calculate the cost per day for the 7-day plan. But I was thinking the Open Door 5 might work better for him – eating there only 5 days a week would leave him the weekend to continue with his MKOP search without wasting 2 days’ worth of prepaid meals. Or he could date only women with an Open Door 7 plan. Then they can continue eating at Cannon Center without any wastage.
Imagine this.
David: Hey girl, you tick all the boxes on my MKOP list. Want to have dinner Saturday?
Girl: Sure. Where would you like to go?
David: Do you have an Open Door 7 plan?
Girl: Umm,…yes?
David: Great. I’ll see you at the Commons at 6.30.
Girl: Isn’t that a bit early?
David: Gosh, no. Eating at half six would leave me time to finish all my school work. Then I can write some songs, do some recording and finish the album I am working on so that my pesky fans can stop speculating whether I am going to continue singing.
Girl: OMheck!! So you are really making an album!!!! Ok, quick let’s take a selfie so I can tweet it before our date.
He is going to be a very busy man. LOL

Good Morning Everyone!
Thank you for your warm welcome again. The fans here are always very
kind and embracing. Even though I comment very infrequently, I always come here to celebrate and feel the warmth and caring of your words for each other and for David. The Voice is such a “soft place to fall”.
I love the way you all are so supportive of David…his voice and his heart. David is following his heart now and living his life in such an honest and refreshing way. I really admire him for keeping his life “real”. When you care about someone, you are happy when they are happy. Education is a wonderful thing…in whatever way you learn. I am excited that David will have that experience in college. My memories of my college days are clearly some of my happiest memories. 🙂 I feel that this will only enhance David’s life and enrich his experiences.
David is Music….as well as so much more. His gift will always be shared in some fashion, as his voice and heart are one. This is a new beginning for him, but I feel that he won’t be leaving his music behind. While we wait…I am going to continue to live my life….that has been inspired so much by David’s positive example. 🙂
