David Archuleta’s To Do List?

Hand Selfie by David Archuleta

Mission accomplished. David’s home, spending time with family and friends. Or is he? Several people in Salt Lake City have spotted him around town, waving hello, smiling and causing knees to shake. We know because these excited folk have tweeted about it. What do these David sightings mean? Some say he has something up his sleeve. It could be a To-Do List. It’s top secret. Could this be David Archuleta’s To-Do List?
Only he knows what’s on it. And he is ticking off each item as he goes about completing the tasks he has set for himself. Those nameless people tell me they may or may not have read the list which fell out said sleeve one time when he was trying on some shirts in an SLC mall.
So with the help of these people who think they know, I present to you David Archuleta’s To-Do List. (Not necessarily in order of importance) I decided to break each item down and make some suggestions of my own.

1.  Grow The Hair

This is a no-brainer. And he doesn’t even have to lift a hand. All he needs is to stay far, far away from all the barbers and hair salons in SLC, Murray and everywhere else in Utah and the entire US of A. Let nature take its course and that hair will be back in fine form. Please no beanie this time! We need proof it’s actually growing, don’t we now? Apparently the average person’s hair grows half an inch in a month, someone told me. Google confirmed it. It must be true. If he doesn’t cut it, his hair will be a whole half-inch longer by the end April – just about enough to look awesome with the help of some styling product.

2.  Go Shopping

After wearing the same old suits for two years, it’s time to throw them out and get some new clothes. He’d be well dressed after buying some designer jeans, fitted shirts, shoes, boots, a vest, perhaps. (Ermenigildo Zegna has one on his website that goes for a mere $395. LOL) Casual clothes are fine for everyday wear. But every sharp-dressed man needs a smart suit, made-to-measure. No one does it better than Signor Zegna. His website says,
“This season innovative ZegnaSilk fabrics, created from the most precious silk fibers, add lightweight elegance to summer suiting, making it the perfect choice for jackets and suits. Enter the world of Made to Measure and discover the art of personal elegance with Zegna’s seasonal fabrics.”
To make an appointment, all David has to do is just click here:
http://sumisura.zegna.com/en/

3.  Meet With a Stylist

Sometimes even with the most fashionable clothes in one’s wardrobe, it can be daunting putting together different looks for going on tour, hosting Saturday Night Live, interviewing with Oprah or receiving a Grammy for Album of the Year. Time spent pulling together a wardrobe is well worth the investment.

4.  Take Guitar Lessons

We are pretty sure he knows how to play the guitar. Some lessons from an instructor can help him get a basic feel for the same music he already knows how to play so well on the piano. And while he is at it, buy a new guitar! Having the chance to do an acoustic solo during a tour would be refreshing!

5.  Learn Some Choreographed Moves

He learned some Salsa and Bachata tips from Lupe and then showed us how to Dougie in the Philippines. David has shown that he is a quick study when it comes to dancing. It’s time to take it to the next level with the help of a choreographer so that he can bust a move on tour. Moving on stage in a meaningful way shows command of the performance.

6.  Original Music/Songwriting Collaboration

David has written some songs such as Broken or Falling. His writing is inspired just not prolific. Working with a Spanish songwriter might be just the thing to get him going on a Spanish language album. Write some Spanish songs, lay down some tracks, produce that album.

7.  Put a Band Together

David knows we need a tour. And a tour means a band. It takes time to assemble a group of musicians who can play well with his strong vocals. Once a band is formed, they can practice. He can make a set list. His team can set dates, book venues, sell tickets and we can buy them!

8.  Re-connect with the Fans

He has vlogged twice and tweeted several times since his return. Now that he has presumably gotten some tips on how to make the best use of YouTube from Shay Carl maybe we’ll soon see a singing vlog.

9.  Look for a Label

No, not clothes. That’s under “Go Shopping”. This is about music, finding a label that believes in him and will do everything possible to help him make the music he wants to make.

10.  Your turn

I am sure there is a number 10 on his To-Do List. But I missed it after the excitement of number 9. So if you have some idea what it could be, let me know in Comments?

Fenfan – I love this list – and yes, HAIR!!!!

My next favorite is “Put a Band Together” yes, get ready for a tour – I know it won’t be this summer, but perhaps we’ll get a Christmas Tour – David seems to love them and so do we.

I’m not all that impressed with the Shay Carl thing. He didn’t seem to know David toured for 4 years after AI he didn’t seem to know David has a youtube Channel, he didn’t seem to realize David has a command of Twitter (1.3 million followers). He needed to do his research.

So sorry I missed chat – I fell asleep!

I love the take charge – Hey-it’s-a-no-brainer tone of your “Write some Spanish songs, lay down some tracks, produce that album.” This article had me laughing the whole time! Yeah – Shay did NOT do his homework – he keeps calling him the “Winner of American Idol” – David corrected him via tweet. However, it’s great David’s checking out his options to deliver to us all that beauty! Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait. Seeing the selfie with the hand on the piano and “finishing the song” vs. watching the Call to Serve re-run with Mom – just made me cry. I feel we are THIS close to hearing him sing again – and that just touches me so. Glad his mission was awesome; glad he’s still ours as well. xoxoxoxoxoxo to David! My number 10: we need to see a food tweet, dude. But the paint battle w sisters was cool…..

Awesome…I laugh and smile reading your list. If I may add, David should look for someone special to love and for him to be loved also…he needs more inspirations…who was that sweet lady he brought with him in one of his tour?.

Cute post, Fen. Probably first on everyone’s list is his hair! 🙂 It’s true that it grows on an average of 1/2 inch a month. I mentioned that on chat many moons ago when we were discussing his hair like we always do! 🙂

On a stylist, I would hope they would be better than what AI has this year. Some of the outfits this year have been absolutely atrocious! Maybe it’s me, but I don’t like stripes and plaids together especially when they are totally different colors. David always looks very neat and dapper when doing his photo shoots, so I don’t think I need to worry.

You pretty much covered everything and I’m just waiting from day to day to see what he does and decides to tell us. I just feel a calm that he is home now and he can go on with his music and we will be ready for the ride.

Ed, you have a point on him finding a romantic interest…it would give him more inspirations on a different level. What he does now is so good, God help us when he is even more inspired! 🙂 Are you talking about Ashley as the lady that he had with him on tour? She is just a friend and has a boyfriend from what I read. She just happened to be in town where he was so he had her sing with him because they used to sing together when they were in school.

Fenfan, your list of suggestions is something I honestly think that David or any artist would find most helpful. It’s direct and covers most areas that would concern a singer/performer. The ones that I think are needed right away are #6 & #8.

David has stepped up his communication via twitter which leaves open the opportunity, via retweets, to talk to and inform non fans of his activities. Curiosity is strong when one sees a picture or video in your timeline. Nonfans have been known to be curious about what David is up to now that he is back from his mission. All they have to do is click a link on a video in a retweet and they just might be interested enough to dive into the vortex. 🙂 Putting yourself out there in social media is vital in show business. Where David is concerned more is better.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After spending 2 years in Chile, David has to have a treasure trove of inspiration to call upon for songwriting. As we can see in the lead picture, he is working on a melody. Its a great start. Sometimes the melody comes before the words. I am willing to bet there were Spanish words floating along those black and whites. What a fantastic side benefit it is to be able to write and think in 2 languages to get the feelings out on paper.

My #10 suggestion is find a place that he can call his own.

Here is the Sunday puzzle. I like to think it’s inspired.

Fenfan, I completely agree with your list. And yes, #1 has to be the hair and all of it gorgeousness! This write-up make me chuckle. We are so OTT ODD!! Love it! 🙂

Abrra, that is what I was going to suggest as a #10. Within the next very short space of time, he needs to leave his family in their home and move into his own. Become accustomed to the quiet that translates into peaceful solitude. That, in turn, affords one to create and be creative. Not only music, but one’s own way of life. A place to bring writers and musicians. A place to bring friends (we know they won’t be the type that will tear up the neighborhood). Yeah, I like that idea. A place of his own.

Thanks for the Sunday puzzle….. I’ve become accustomed to looking for them on Sunday afternoons. 🙂

Great job fenfan, I wholeheartedly agree with your list! I do have one slight deviation – a Spanish album would be incredible, but I hope he does one in English first. This way his next tour (hopefully this year), will have his newly inspired music, music from the older, more matured David. His style, the music he wants to make. I think there will be alot of interest and curiosity with this next album and tour, and I just have the feeling it may set the tone for his career and future success.

My #10 would also be that of Abrra and Tawna…. a place to call his own.

#1 Marlie – yes hair, band (not hair band, lol) – two of the things we are all watching for as David makes his way back to his career. The question is what style; and that applies to both hair and band.

#2 Patricia Ann – I am looking forward to a Spanish album even though I know no Spanish beyond muy caliente!
Love your #10 – food tweets! Hope we get some soon.

#3 Edvcroz Zed – Someone special? Hmmm I think there are lots of people waiting in line! LOL

#4 Jans11 – Yes I remember you telling us about hair growth. The someone who told me about it was you!

#5 Abrra, #6 Tawna, Emmegirl – Totally agree. He needs a place of his own.

“Within the next very short space of time, he needs to leave his family in their home and move into his own. Become accustomed to the quiet that translates into peaceful solitude. That, in turn, affords one to create and be creative. Not only music, but one’s own way of life.” – spot on, Tawna.

Emmegirl – I want an English album too! In fact, any language would do. Just give me music!

I may not be able to log in much, if at all, in the next week or so. But keep your ideas coming. I will check in if I can get wi-fi.

Fenfan, great list. I want him to take his time with new music but I’d like to hear him sing yesterday lol. I think he can have maybe not a full out tour but a small venues here and there, acoustic would be nice. David left us Forevermore, BEGIN. and Nothing Else Better To Do. There is plenty of material there for a nice 21 song set 🙂 This well get him warmed up, get the juices flowing and out there again while he prepares new material in english and spanish :).

Surprised with the Sunday tweet but a nice one.

Dittos on David getting a place of his own and doing a Spanish or English/Spanish album! I sent him the Freddie Fender album that was English/Spanish telling him that even if he doesn’t like country it gives him some ideas. And that I know that he already probably knows what he wants, but it was to help shed a little light on what we fans are wanting. I also sent him a big package of Nutter Butters. Last week I sent him an Easter card. Since the PO box is still open, I want to put it to good use! 🙂
Dja, I also agree that he has plenty of material from the albums he released last year and I would love to hear him sing them live. I have listened to them enough I know just about all the words. 🙂
Seen an article where David is in the top 10 money makers of the 2nd place winners on AI. He is worth $5 Million now! Same as Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken! He’s a movin’ up! In my little book of sayings by Norman Vincent Peale, the saying for today is “To move fast, row slowly”! 🙂

Fenfan! I love hearing from you. ^_^ Thank you for this fun “looking forward” article. I think we each have our own list of little things we would like to know he is taking care of, or doing it the way “I” would. Probs he will surprise us – again!

Jans11. I love your “To move fast, row slowly”. That kind of sounds like it could have been written for DA, himself.

Off to do lots of “work”…. see you all soon.

(I would certainly NOT mind DA, if you choose to hum a tune or two while you are carrying out all these little steps…. and let someone just not-quite-sneakily video it. I would certainly NOT mind if you caught them and smiled a bit…just for us. Nope. That I could def handle.)

(In fact, I know a peep or two that would tots whip you up a YT page and get you a few thou views. Just sayin’)

Ahhhh that amazing thick black beautiful hair has its own fan club here, even got it’s own ‘goodbye hair’ video at the MTC 2 years ago. (am pret-ty sure its lineage,is part chia-pet and should grow fast) We’ll be watching David,so pleeeease let it come back in all its glory! I do miss that fabulous hair!

As I read your to do list,it made me realize,D has a lot to think about.
Idk,and its anyone’s guess, as to when our David will complete his own to do list and be ready for us.
Sometimes.. my ODD makes me feel like a little kid since he got home. “Please Mrs A, can David come out to play, pleeease pretty please with sugar on it!”
Does he know that If he rented a dilapidated old barn and set up 2 speakers, and had a microphone,we’d be there in a New York minute just to hear him sing?…anything he wants to.
All we really need is you David, just as you are, and that beautiful voice of yours to come out and play with us, (your backyard would be fine too) we’ll bring a covered dish♥.or Thai food, or whatever.

This is very nice. A write up on a Las Vegas radio station including the video of Called To Serve. Giving kudos for positive reasons, I really like that.

Back when “American Idol” was popular (remember way back when?) there was an epic battle. David… vs David.
David Cook was, by all means, a grown man at this point, battling it out with 16 year old, 5 foot-3 inch, David Archuleta from Murray, Utah, just south of Salt Lake City. While the eldest Cook won the televised talent show, both had won the hearts and minds, with Archuleta going on to much success, selling nearly 1 million copies of his debut CD. But it’s what David did next that may surprise you.
Archuleta is a devout Mormon who stayed connectedwith his church prior to, throughout, and after “Idol”, and it had always been his mission to go on… a mission. A two-year devotion to his church in another country.
Regardless of your religious preference, regardless of who you voted for on “Idol” that year, you just can’t get over how respectful this kid is. Check out the entire documentary from Salt Lake City television station KSL.

As a fan who is interested in David’s music career, I would rather hear about what he has planned in that regard. I have no interest in anything else right now. I suppose the fact that he is attempting to tweet more often, shows some effort to stay in touch. I’d prefer to see more evidence (such as the lead picture) of focusing on career decisions.

I hear you abrra and all those who want the same, me included. But I do realize David has been back 3 weeks so I’m not expecting anything real soon in that regard. I love the food, goofing around, and anything he tweets. The quote tweets have always in my mind meant there are many things going not only in his mind but in his life, letting us know indirectly that things are going on and how his mind works in a way. Like TOSOD, I listen to that album now and it speaks volumes as to what David was feeling during that time.
We all have incredible decisions to make in our lives that impact our small world in comparison to I can’t even imagine his. His “career” could be gone without careful planning which includes many more people involved in those consultations, opinions and ideas than any of mine would ever involve. This has been a journey I never imagined I’d be on and I’m loving it, all of it.

The voice captured my senses but David the person captured my heart.

I’m very busy in my “real” life as I know most of us are but I’d like us all to try to hang in here and share your thoughts and ideas, to keep the dialogue flowing. Before we know it we will be making road plans 🙂 I still can’t believe David is back and that I survived the wait.

Abrra, I agree with you on being interested only in David’s music and Djafa, I agree with you that it is going to take time for him to get back to music to the level that we want him to be. Time and patience! haha But that is what it’s taking. I have bunches of patience, always have been a patient person. Now time is another thing, but when you get older time flies by…so that’s a plus in David’s case! 🙂 ! But, I’ll be here as long as it takes for David to “get it together” which I know he will.

One of the songs that always had me puzzled was “Good Place” until he made his announcement. And when he sang it at his VIP that night, I understood it all. He had planned the whole thing so well that we didn’t even realize it. Like I have said he is a brilliant enigma and no matter what he does it will come out to his liking, the way he wants it to. Right now he is overwhelmed in a good way on what to do, but I’m so glad for him that he has all these choices on what to do. I know he will make the right ones to benefit him! 🙂

Happy to hear from him every day, that he is back! 🙂 Maybe it doesn’t take much for me to be happy!! 🙂 A vlog I would love though!!! 🙂

    OMGosh, all the happy faces makes it look like I’m happy….which I am!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

On a side note, went to my “closing down bar b q get together” at work yesterday and it was so emotional. They gave me a surprizeing shout out on my work when they passed out the bonuses which made me so proud. So glad that I had the years to work with the “older” generation that needed a lot of compassion and a helping hand!

The shooting where the little 14 yr old and his grandfather was killed happened about 20 miles from me and our whole city along with the nation was stunned. There is so much evil in this world, but, also, there is so much good. Usually we hear about the bad things and not so much about the good…I am blessed to follow something very good in my life and as long as David and I are here on this earth I will follow.

A quote I read this morning that makes me think of my ODD: “You never need to defend yourself or your desires to anyone, as those inner feelings are Spirit speaking to you. Those thoughts are sacred, so don’t let anyone ever let anyone trample on them.”

Ah, MT! Thanks for the memory of Manchester, NH. Not only does it bring back memories of a great show, but a time when I got to meet up with a bunch of fans for the first time. Those are such good memories. It’s like we are instant sisters! The next night was Providence, RI which was another fun show. David got roses on stage from a fan near the front.

Been out commission for a few days! When I don’t feel well enough to be online, then I’m really not feeling well! Stomach bug! Ugh. Glad to be back and on the mend. Been getting all of David’s tweets on my cell phone. I don’t know what I would do without my handy-dandy portable computer. Thanks to all the posters who helped find the news!

    Dja,
Hmm Many David-related people that Gina is following. Eman, Mark Nilan, ALMA Awards, JoAnn Banaga, Kurt Bestor, Richard Parkinson, Jon Hunt, Joy Williams, shaycarl, LDS church, Ben Antelis, Brooke White, several of David’s fans and fansites. The question is, Is she following The Voice?

    MT,
    Thanks for bringing YEDL here.

I’m longing for those good old concert days. Watching David sing YEDL with such joy and enthusiasm takes me back a few short years ago, and remembering all the excitement of buying tickets, anticipating VIP and the show, meeting fan friends for the first or second time, going out later for after concert treats! The whole concert experience is nothing short of enthralling! I know it will happen again. Music is such a big part of David’s life. And I believe that he is still decompressing (for lack of a better word) from being away for two years.

And for all fans who celebrate,

Forgive me for not commenting sooner on your well-constructed and enjoyable article. Like many fans, I’m all about the hair. What can I say? So first on my list is for him to let it grow out, although did anyone else notice that David’s hair looked a little shorter in the mint brownies pic with the missionaries. Hmm. Tell me he didn’t cut it.

    Good Morning, Folks!!

    Abrra,
“a time when I got to meet up with a bunch of fans for the first time” << YES YES YES! Can't wait! That's something that is such a big part of it. I can't wait to meet some of you, hopefully LOTS of you. ♥

    Bebe,
I'm so glad you're feeling better. Happy Passover! 🙂 "meeting fan friends" << YES YES YES AGAIN!

As for what song I'd like to hear live? Well, I guess no one would be surprised if I said Heart Falls Out. LOL And I know it probably won't happen but I would love to hear YEDL and Touch My Hand because I've never heard/seen them live. After those, anything his little ole' heart desires is fine with me. 😀 I just want to hear him sing. Uummm … A little Spanish number wouldn't hurt either. 😉

    Jan,
Oh yes, the whistling and the smiling. 🙂

Of all the concerts I have been to, he never sang YEDL, so I would love to hear him sing it live. And any and all the songs from the albums that he released when gone. Every time I hear a good song I think, David would sing that better! 🙂 David could sing the phone book for me and I’d be happy! 🙂 Oh, I would love to hear him sing “Someone Like You”…the whole song! That little snippit from the Phillipines was such a teaser!

Hello all! My old PC bit the dust so hubby got me a new one. Let’s see if I can make wordpress comments work for me now. 🙂

I’m not too worried about David’s hair. It will grow back and he will probably cut it again. His hair length has always fluctuated. Guys are weird like that.

I’m hoping for some new songs, possibly some in Spanish. Speaking of songs, my husband and I were at a Mexican restaurant the other night and an interesting song came on. It was a cover of “Blackbird” with the first part of the song sung in English in a style similar to David’s cover and the last part in Spanish with a more Latin flavor to it. I haven’t been able to figure out who the artist is singing the song, but he sounded fairly young. He has a pleasant tone to his voice. I’d love to find out who it is and tell David to check it out. Any of you very knowledgeable people reading here have any ideas who it might be?

  61. It is Good Friday, the start of the Easter weekend. All stores and businesses are closed and it is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. When I was young it was a very holy weekend and a very special memory to me. Little girls, well and big girls, had new fancy dresses for church with new hats and purses. So nice after a winter!! We had a sunrise service on the mountainside with breakfast back at the church. A lovely memory.

I have decorated with rabbits and flowers for the family especially those who will be having an Easter egg hunt Sunday morning. Some things remain the same thank heavens in this busy world. Now we know spring is really here.

All the best to everyone who celebrates Easter but with special thoughts of the people of South Korea who have suffered a great tragedy out in the waters off shore.

Here’s some info about the Murray Greenhouse Foundation.

“For years people in our community have asked “what will happen to people with disabilities when they reach age 22 and can no longer attend the public school system?” Government budgeting constraints leave thousands of people and their families with little or no support. As a result, skills learned in school deteriorates, and isolation from friends and other community support grows.

The Murray Greenhouse Foundation offers a solution. Conceived as a safe and nurturing learning place whose cornerstone is our greenhouse, the Foundation provides the teaching of individualized independent living skills and employment skills for people with disabilities. Here, people can learn the skills necessary to be successful at work and in their personal lives to help build a better life for themselves and their families.”

Tawna… yeah. You are probably right. I knew he would look at us and smile and say “hello”. But I have no feeling for when he will sing (I know he sang at the MTC when he came home, I mean look at us and sing to us. ((greedy me)) ). Maybe that feeling will come to me after a bit.

It is like he wants to make it “big”. (As in: gonna blow our socks off!) Like he does the groundwork first. And he needs to… no argument.

But really DA, I (meaning “us”) am not a hard sell. I do not need the stage, speakers, mic, band, lights, crowd, new song, flowers, dinner, tux, or new car to
make this a meaningful experience. Who ya trying to romance here, bud? (*sigh*)

I’ll take a song in your work clothes, doing the dishes (to help out, as we know you do) or the yard work. I’ll take a song while you are singing in the car to the radio — on the way to the store. ((The Voice fans now make a list! Maybe we could inspire him?)) I’ll take a song while you are trying to decide on a song… or thinking of songs…. or humming…. or rolling your eyes cause we are …. acting like fans or something.

I’ll take a song when you are just feeling grateful for the sun in the sky. I’ll take a song when you can’t remember how it goes or “what the heck was that melody anyway”. I’ll take a song when you are missing Chile. When you are vacuuming (it could happen!). When you are just looking at your family and loving them. When you looked at the lunar eclipse you HAD to be hearing some kind of music in your head.

You have not gone mute. Your fingers and toes still drip constant cadences.

You could not speak in Chile, so you sang. Pretend you do not speak English. Please, already: we are needy. ^_^

    I’ll take a song. Period.

    Or half a song.

    Dear DA.

Forget the (very nice!!) pics and tweets and other human evidences that you still exist
    here, on the same planet.
(And for which I am mostly grateful, really.)
