David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990) is an American singer-songwriter and actor. At ten years old, he won the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition leading to other television singing appearances.[6] When he was twelve years old, Archuleta became the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2.[6] In 2007, at sixteen years old, he became one of the youngest contestants on the seventh season of American Idol.[7] In May 2008 he finished as the runner-up, receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes.
I “believe” now. April Fool’s Day always has me doubting myself. I was slow to accept it as it didn’t seem real…but I believe it now. You are a beautiful sight, David. Welcome home.
haha I got the tweet on my phone and ran straight to the computer to see it. I’m surprised we’ve already gotten two videos and a tweet when he’s only been home 10 days. That’s more that I actually thought we’d hear from him in such a short time.
Thanks so much for thinking of us and letting us know how you’re doing, David. 🙂
David taking the time to communicate with us speaks volumes. He knows we’re here just waiting “patiently” for him to return to us. The sight of him speaking directly to us with such a familiarity, like old friends connecting again warms my heart. David, his voice, his words, his smile and him saying “que esten bien todos” , just love him.
We spent two interesting years while you were away. We went through holidays and for some, personal stormy weather, but often coming together to mention you and wonder how you were doing!
We talked, exchanged thoughts and sometimes had small debates with plenty of humor on the dull days! Special thanks to SnowAngelz for that!!
On Saturday nights we often came to the Voice Unplugged and listened to your music with special Christmas videos from Chile.
As fans we finally learnt one thing and that was patience. Your music is so very special to each of us and we are looking forward to hearing you sing once again.
You saw the “shine” in his eyes. >—–l–O Yep. Don’t know if I will be able to get through the “return missionary” thing on Sunday. I remember my sons and how hard it was coming home. They love the life so much, and are still one foot “out there”. I wrote before that when I came back from my own mission I didn’t unpack my suitcases for 2 weeks. I just couldn’t. I just washed my clothes and put them back in the suitcase. *_*
I am so glad he had this experience. And… I know that he will adjust.
Do you guys have any idea how much I appreciate you? What other fans would be so understanding and so supportive? I read the comments on the You Tube page under his blog, and I just melt. I really feel that all your love and tender support is going to be key in helping him to reconnect in all the best ways. He always has been “on a mission” anyway, one that he chose for himself a long time ago.
He will discover that he has brought us along, and sold us on being more active in the world in regards to our own passions, that we may be a different group than he has been hanging out with, but we are a pretty darn good bunch of peeps to have as a bunch of “companions”. And… we still expect the best of him. And… he is easy to follow. He just sings “Do”, a deer, a female deer….. and we are ready to don curtain-clothes and skip around cobblestoned streets singing at the top of our lungs for no reason in the world except: it feels so good. ^_^
(I think I will just gently let myself submerge in this lake of love, and disappear under the surface for a while. Maybe I will blow a bubble or two.)
Still smiling from the blog. So happy to hear from him. Great therapy to end a tough day! Just like Angelofdja so perfectly said, “Gosh, I just can’t believe how good that made me feel!”
Oh, sweet David. Another tweet. Hate that it’s because of a tragedy, but it is so good to hear from you and know that you are on the same page as we are, that you are home away from the earthquakes. I know your heart aches for your friends that you have left behind.
Wow – it feels like such an honor to just be able to hold David in prayer, knowing he will feel our support in this way – after all, he has taught us something about being unselfish – I add my prayers for the queridos chilenos. This is very powerful; these connections; these intentions. Love how he started his blog with a few piano notes – yes, yes, the music is still here, will always be here. So happy our angel is safe.
Still watching the vlog. Love to see his hand hover over the piano keys. Love to see him look over his shoulder. Love to listen to him ramble, could have been more rambling, but I will not complain. Loved that he thanked us for our letters 🙂 Loved to see him enjoying the “surprises” that occurred in his absence. Pretty much just loving the vlog.
Dayzee, I see that David makes you love everything too! 🙂 Don’t ya just live him! 🙂
To me it seems as if his allergies may have been bothering him. His sound was a bit nasally and his eyes were watering a bit. Like his left one was kind of red again….just nitpicking…as Simon says. haha Otherwise, he is absolutely perfect! As usual.
Everyone still watching David’s vlog? I confess I am lol
Love and live David, yep both are good 🙂
I had a wonderful Thai lunch with blueberryice today and she says to say hi to all and that she is still here, very much a David fan. It is so nice to hang out with someone who gets you and this ODD, the best. And the friendship beyond being a David fan is the cherry on top. I will be having halo halo thanks to her.
More David buzz today I’ll post later. Off to a softball game!
Hello everyone! Just want to drop by to say hi and let you all know I’m still here….I do miss reading everyone’s comments here and from time to time emerge from lurking to comment. Anyway……been hibernating for a while due to some very difficult personal issues I am going thru right now. I haven’t posted much of anything anywhere. I am really excited now that David is back.
Finally, I found time to take a picture of the MKOC Tour backdrop piece that I won from the raffle. It arrived 2 weeks ago and to my surprise, it came with an 8 x10 picture of David. Although the picture arrived with the back drop piece with big creases due to possible mail handling, I still very much appreciate it. Here’s a picture of it…..
Oh oh, my patience is not working today! I would like to know how we can see the documentary on Sunday? Just hoping that we can here in the far off places…

David Archuleta’s Abuelo, WILFREDO MAYORGA Interview!!!!! Thank you JR!
David Archuleta @DavidArchie 2m
My 3 sisters are showing me the movie “Frozen”. Watching it with them now. “For the first time in forever” I am watching a movie, haha.
Oh my. It would be interesting to know what the interview with David’s grandpa is all about. Dja… can you enlighten us a little? (dang, I should have taken those Spanish classes — actually, as fast as they are talking I probably would understand anyway) 🙂
I have missed those random tweets! I hope he’s enjoying the movie. 🙂
Dja,
Can you give us an abbreviated version of what was said in the interview? Basically, I’m asking if he said anything we didn’t already know regarding music. Thanks. 😀
MT, In general they talk about David being afraid of hurricanes and lightning storms when he lived in Florida and that he was always timid. So they never expected him to do singing in public but that he has overcome it and they’re all proud.
How ironic. My granddaughter just brought me “Frozen” to watch! 🙂 Love the wink….yes, David I’ll be watching what Elder Archuleta was doing the last 2 yrs. 🙂
Am I the only one who is completely confused when it comes to David right now? I didn’t expect anything from him when he first got home. I was surprised by the 11 sec video. Then he tweeted “Hola”, then ANOTHER video, and he asked for time. Now three tweets today. I really thought we’d maybe get a hello/hola or two in the first few weeks and that would be about it. Now? I don’t know what’s going on. LOL But he’s reaching out, working his way through it.
I wasn’t planning to watch “Called To Serve.” I thought it might be too personal to him. But now that he’s extended an invitation. 🙂
As for the Frozen tweet, I hadn’t seen the movie so I really didn’t get why “For the first time in forever” was in quotes so I went to Youtube to check it out. LOL I should have realized it had something to do with a song. I find it reassuring to see he still has that musical mind. 😀
Dja,
Thanks for the recap of the interview. 🙂 I guess most kids are afraid of bad weather. I was. And it’s not surprising to hear he was shy. But isn’t it amazing how the one place he isn’t shy is on stage when he’s singing? I guess some things are just meant to be.
Here I have transcribed the interview Grandpa David.
Starts 0.20 and ends at 7.14 minutes.
(I like comments Grandpa, can someone translate?.)
