David Archuleta and the Year of the Horse ~ Happy New Year! #DA2014 is Here!

David Archuleta came into this world in 1990, the year of the horse on the Chinese calendar. The year 2014 will usher in the year of the horse again. Maybe it doesn’t matter. And maybe it’s an auspicious omen of rebirth, renewal and growth. I didn’t know about this fact until today, yet now it strikes me as strangely right. Long before I knew he was a horse, I made these images.
Long before that, I made this video. The Chinese calendar predicted I would marry a rat late in life. I did. He’s not really a rat though; he’s actually quite nice. So maybe there is something to it after all. It came true for this dragon. Hark! Is that the faint sound of galloping hooves in the distance? Gird your loins. This one’s a runner.

That was fun! Thank you!!! When comparing David with a horse I find some similarities. They are both very handsome, sleek, move in graceful but steady motions, strong, and strong willed. You can train a horse for riding but if they don’t like you or don’t want you taking them away from a place they want to be then they will deliberately walk under a low branch of a tree to try to knock you off the saddle. I remember David saying that people tried to stop him from doing the last Christmas concert, MKOC, but he did it anyway. I admire David for doing what he thinks is best for him in every area and doesn’t let anything or anybody stop him. It’s like trying to stop a stampede of wild horses.

Listening to that Little Drummer Boy snippet (if you can call something that powerful a “snippet”) and was reminded of Michael York at the Glad Christmas Tidings Motab performance. He said all good stories start in the middle. I am thinking most of David’s best songs start in the middle like that. There is a beginning and more to come, but if there were only one small part of that song that I could have, it is the middle. Somehow, we received the very best part for me.

So.. I confess to not knowing beforehand who Enrique Iglesias is. So I have been looking. Interesting. It looks as though he was raised to the life, the son of Julio Iglesias. And he looks very comfortable in the life … and all it entails. I wish him the best. I think that if DA did do a duet with him, it would be an opportunity to show that he can step up to a challenge, both musically and professionally, and come out ahead.
