For many of us here at The Voice, Tuesdays have become synonymous with Nandito Ako. I love watching and rewatching this story unfold every week. It’s like sitting in someone’s living room with a group of friends, eating popcorn @@@@@@@@ and watching a favorite soap opera. Btw, @@@@@@ is code in Nandito Ako chat for popcorn which Bebe passes out to everyone, sometimes caramel, sometimes cheese. 🙂 Rewatching the mini series has afforded us the chance to really appreciate the uniqueness of each character, and the actors who played them. An Uncle Stevil’s “hats off” to all of them, and to our Hero, David Archuleta, who put Everything and More, into his first starring role, as “Josh Bradley, International Star.”
The faces of the cast of characters have been etched in our minds…Holly, desperate for her mother’s love yet she can never please her. Anya, who rejected Josh at first because she wanted to be a good friend to Holly. Uncle Stevil, who tried to control Josh and made him believe that his Mom died in the fire. Margaret, Holly’s wicked mother. Teresa, Anya’s devoted mother who would do anything for her children. Yaya, a better mother to Holly than Margaret ever was. Josh’s mother, Cara, who he thought was dead but is still alive. And Volta, dear friend to Anya’s family. Billy, Josh’s best friend. Chit, Josh’s manager. Alladin, Anya’s little half brother who is probably the wisest character in the show. Mando, Anya’s friend from childhood.
So stay with me here…keeping this all in mind…..
I absolutely love watching any and all videos of David in the Philippines. I got sucked into the vortex the other day, and ended up clicking on a video, that led to another video (you all know how that goes) of when David was on a TV show called SIS, in The Phillippines in 2009. He performed and was interviewed by three women who were all in spazz mode and although all three were speaking fast, I distinctly heard a voice that was very familiar. I kept watching and listening to the three women until it suddenly hit me! Well I’ll be darned if that isn’t…?!! Wait, is it? HA! Yes! Yes it is! After watching countless reruns of Nandito Ako, I’d recognize that voice anywhere!
Soo, for all you diehard Nandito Ako fans out there, watch this video and see if you recognize any of the voices. One in particular.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. When I first saw this appearance video I was so happy for the enthusiasm shown for David in an international setting.Little did I know how popular he was and still is in the Philippines. His visits to foreign lands does so much to expand his fan base. My wish is that David will have the opportunity to tour more outside the US. Of course that would be after he spends a lot of time here touring for us.
I bet is was a thrill for these 2 to be reunited on Nandito Ako. Life has a way of revisiting connections made.

Skydancer: Ha, Ha!! You just can’t keep that Gelli from showing her enthusiasm. I am so glad that she got the chance to get to know him better. A great reward to the fans on the other side of the world. Connected through such fun times.
Without their enthusiasm… what would we have missed? I appreciate them so! And.. without us here voting and supporting in the first instance, perhaps he would not have had the opportunities to go there. Fans all around. That’s us.

PS he looks good in that color. Just about my favorite items from that trip were the phone commercials. I felt that they really showcased his amazing sense of humor.

(Dear DA… do you think that while you are here in the Phils doing: a mini series, photo shoots, adds for hair products, shirts, recording new CDs, sightseeing, more acting lessons, live performances, a couple of short concerts…. *whew* …. do you think you could squeeze in a few amazing phone commercials? Just sayin’)

Sky, I never noticed it was her!!! The enthusiasm by the audience, the other guests and the hosts was so heartwarming. It sure built the excitement for me as I watched everything that came our way.

Still hoping beyond hope that we will have the opportunity to purchase the Nandito Ako series. It has been one of the life jackets we had to keep us connected and make sure we keep the home fire embers lit for the return of David. He will then blow into those embers and reignite the flames that will sweep across the world ♥

Been hoping they would release NA dvd too. The other evening when I was showing a friend of mine the NA trailer, she said, “I want to see the whole thing”! I told her they were supposed to release a dvd of it and when they do, I sure will clue her in! 🙂

Sky, that’s quite the feat to pick out Gelli’s voice! How fun for them to reconnect. NA was so awesome. Even though I’ve got it on a flash drive, I would seriously love to have a commercial-break-free DVD. I wonder what the hold-up has been?
Do we think (or even dare to) that there will be anymore music released while David is gone?

Sky! I know I’ve watched that SIS video a dozen times and never placed Anya’s mother back to it when watching Nandito Ako. I LOVE that scene in Nandito Ako when she finds Josh in her kitchen and starts beating him with a broom and then realizes who it is and starts fan girling like crazy. Then drinks his water! lol!
Now you got me started too! Love this. I wish I could say Nandito Ako like he does. He certainly has a way with words. “Clothes.” “Chickens.” “Gelli.” “Rooster.” (David loves roosters and so do I) 😉

What a sleuth you are to catch this! Teresa was one of my favorite characters in the miniseries. I loved her fangirlying for Josh and suspect it was really for David because that’s exactly how she sounds on the SIS show for him!
I looked up her Wikipedia page and she has had quite a career in showbiz since she was 8 years old! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelli_de_Belen She and her sister Janice (the one with the shorter hair in the picture above) co-hosted SIS for nine years until 2010.

Angelica.. the date to register for tickets for that motab performance with James Taylor… was before Aug. 5th. I was going to register, but did not. I usually do not get tickets anyway. BUT! I do plan on going. There is a standby line that begins at 6pm each performance evening. I plan on being there with bells on. Anyone that wants to come and wait with me and a couple of my sons to hear JTaylor, just flash your DA grin and join us!

Guys, we have a new kitty, courtesy of my two sons, who conspired when my husband and I were on vacation.
He is 8 weeks old, black and gray, and so much fun.
They named him Justin Purrrrrlander lol, after our amazing Tigers pitcher (we think he’s the best there ever was)
Anyway, I was never a cat person, we are a dog family, but those boys of mine have always loved cats and if it makes them happy, I am all for it. ♥
I choose my battles, this wasn’t one.
p.s. I love this kitten. He was attacking the oriental rug fringe this morning and I have learned that I could watch this all day. 🙂

What keen powers of observation you have! Once you pointed it out it was easy. I picked up on her voice in the first few seconds. But I doubt I would have recognized her otherwise. What a coincidence that she ended up working with him years later!
I love her character, too. Like you, I love that kitchen scene where she beats him with a broom, then once she recognizes Josh, she fangirls all over herself. And the look on Josh’s face! haha So funny.
There are so many great scenes in that show. And thanks to JR, we have the translations and can really enjoy it. How many times have we watched it now?
And guess what, it’s Tuesday! That means it’s time for another round of Bebe’s yummy popcorn and Nandito Ako!!

(he first appears at about 2:05) It was a private show sponsored by a radio station, and there were 50 people in attendance. I had the camera on a tripod, and didn’t keep it centered on him, I mostly just sort of let what happened happen. So, he isn’t always centered, and he isn’t always even in the shot. My point of view from the rafters isn’t the best, either. I am posting this only because it exists, for anyone who hasn’t had an opportunity to see him perform live.”

Just finished watching the full concert videos Abs posted. I took a nice trip down memory lane. I had forgotten that David sang “The Riddle” and “Fields of Gold” on the CFTH tour. Beautifully done!

Especially in front of the State Theater, which just this year was voted best theater in the world. (by the MMPA)
Hard to believe that in the 80’s, when I lived up there, it was just another old theater that was shut down.
It’s been made into a jewel. 🙂

Ahhh … David videos are like dominos. I started watching the one from Hard Rock and ended up watching the 4 videos of his live chat from New York during TOSOD release week. He was so tired and so random and so funny. Haha He does lots of random singing and laughing. 😀
If you haven’t seen it before, or haven’t seen it in a while and are missing him (and have an hour to kill) you should watch them.

At the store, I was looking to see if they had any of David’s cds. Naturally not! 😦 But I picked up an old Freddie Fender “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” album for $5. All the songs are the cool, bluesy ones that I could just hear David singing them! Also, some were sung in Spanish, David would be perfect singing “Vaya Con Dios”, “Since I Met You Baby”, “Pledging My Love” or “Before The Next Teardrop Falls”! 🙂
#DA2014…We miss you David! Only about 2 more weeks and his days go into the last Temple…another small one! Whoo Hoo!! 🙂

I gave a copy of COS to my pastor’s wife for her birthday. She really likes David too. We were at meeting at church and I thought she was going to read the whole book before the meeting was over, she was so enthralled! 🙂
#DA2014 In about 25 days we can start the 200 day countdown! I think that’s going to go fast with the holidays coming up! I know I will be antsy in January, February and March unless we hear something really solid!!

Sky I knew it was Gelli in that vid because I’d watched it many times and I’d read somewhere that she and D met on that show 2 years before NA.
I love watching NA with all of you – the popcorn is always delicious, the comments are fun and funny, and we learn something new about the series every week!

Gladys, thank you so much for the Wonderful World video. It is beautiful. I would so like to hear David sing that song. It just seems to Davidish. One of the things he has taught me is to be grateful for the beautiful things in this world. Ever since you told us he sang it in Chile it has been my hope to see him perform it.
Sky, I know it takes at least 100 times to watch a David video before you notice anyone else is on the screen. Good job!!
I had a great visit with my son at the Craig Hospital in Denver. The mother of his roommate told me she never thought she would see him get on his feet when they wheeled him into her son’s room. He was pretty much unresponsive, was being fed through a tube in his tummy and could not stand even with help. After 2 weeks at Craig he is walking with a cane for short periods and eating at the table with us. He seems to be about on the level of an 8 or 10 year old boy with a bad memory and flashes of brilliance. He is bewildered that he is not allowed to go back to work. Hoping he continues to improve. He has a wonderful attitude and tries his best at all therapy sessions he attends. It was extremely difficult to leave him.
After being away from home for a week, I was rewarded with the cutting of 8 links from the paper chain. 🙂 Getting so short I have room for more David pics. Haha

I really enjoyed your new video! I try to imagine David singing “It’s A Wonderful World” but can’t! I think I have a hard time dis-connecting it from Louis Armstrong. Great choice of pictures and transitions. It’s a simple video but very effective. Bravissimo!

I’m so glad your son has shown so much improvement in such a short time. It sounds like they really know what they’re doing. I will continue to add my prayers to yours for his continued recovery.
Like you, I’d love to hear David sing “What A Wonderful World.” I’ll bet his voice would sound marvelous on it. And Yay for that chain getting shorter! I remember the photo of it and how very loooong it was. Would love to see a picture of it now.
