A very Happy Easter to all. Such a lovely springlike post, Angelica, very well done. Last night I attended our Easter Vigil Mass — two and a half hours of time very well spent — so inspirational and beautiful.
So nice to receive Easter greetings from David and from Kari today — they never forget the fans. God bless David as he prepares for the devotional today — we look forward to Gladys describing the experience later.
It’s a lovely day here today, mild and sunny and I just saw a real live rabbit running across the grass outside my building. Spring is here!

Aprils Fools! Easter has been extended for another day. OK, truth is I was up a little late in Unplugged last night and then to bed. Have to wait till next year for an April Fool’s joke when I announce that his mission has been extended for another year and he will not be coming home after all. hahaha. Just kidding!

Spoiler Alert – if you don’t want to hear about what David sang yesterday, stop reading now. OK, that takes care of the notification to the public.
Last night in chat Gladys said David sang an LDS song at the devotional called De Nosotros El Mayor – Sus Manos, which i think translates to “The Greatest of Us (His Hands)”. She gave us a link to a youtube of that song, but it appears there are two songs by the name De Nosotros El Mayor. I did find one with the subtitle of ‘sus manos’. If it was that song, it was written in English by Kenneth Cope and was voted 2nd place on the list of 100 greatest LDS songs of all time in a recent poll at LDS Living magazine. here is a link.
English:
Spanish:
Gladys please correct me if I have the wrong song.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me, and it’s a gentle, honest question. I was late coming to Gladys’ chat last night and the name Viviana was being used. Who is Viviana? I’m just trying to get things straight in my brain.
My heart and best wishes go to Elder Coello. Medical releases happen, a missionary in our congregation came home a few months ago because of health issues. It’s sad for these young people, because they are so torn spiritually with having to leave those they have come to love and have been serving. Sometimes, if things get cleared up, they are able to return. Sometimes, they are placed in a different mission to finish serving when their health returns.
I can just imagine E Archuleta singing the song Donna has brought over.

I was thinking while watching the video for that lovely hymn that David would make a beautiful Jesus in a movie or broardway play.

LYrics to His Hands…
His hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
His hands
sermons of kindness
healing men’s blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again
His hands would serve His whole life though
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make up my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee
His hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
His hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow Him
His hands would serve His whole life though
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make up my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee
His hands
clasped in agony
as He lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray Him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then His hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they’ve been led to
as He stumbles through the streets
heading towards the hill on which He died
He would die
they take His hands, His mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
He lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see Him with His hands
calling to me
and though i’m not yet as i would be
He has shown me how i could be
i will make my hands like those from galilee

Sus Manos, que bella cancion. I can only imagine Elder Archuleta singing with that better and deeper voice, just the thought. I can see why he would get teary singing this. He continues to connect with the heart and soul of everything he sings.
Munk, thanks for the lyrics of “His Hands”.
Angelica, you craaaaaaaaaazy lol
Donna, thank you for the song links. Listening.
DH, thanks for the albums name.
Tawna, Viviana is a member of the church who is not only in charge of the choir and it’s performances but also part of it. She like the Mckinleys and Gisselle and other members have befriended Gladys and taken to her as we have 🙂
Potluck, He most definitely would.

Dja,
“He continues to connect with the heart and soul of everything he sings.”
Yes. David is very tenderhearted and we know he feels what he sings, and so does anyone who listens. It must have been a very moving performance for Gladys to witness.
And his voice getting deeper … and better … I can’t even imagine.

Oh wiw, thank you TXNancy, that was awesome. I think I held my breath while he was singing. Absolutely Davud’s hymn.
I loved the photography. He was keeping his voice warm with the scarf. We saw him so often on voice rest. I would never have guessed he was only 18 there.
That was a peaceful, Sshhhhh like song. I love the hums!

That is the best “Be Still My Soul” that I have ever heard!
I saw David in Atlantic City, NJ, the last stop on the David/Demi tour November1, 2009. I believe he wore the same jacket to my VIP. And he sounded just as glorious singing pop songs. That video was the find of the day! Thanks, TX Nancy, for finding and posting.

Gladys: Thank you for sharing your experience at the devotional. Thank you especially for sharing the song Sus Manos (His Hands), which I had never heard. It is beautiful and touching, both in Spanish and in English. David sings Christmas hymns with such joy, but I imagine reflecting on the Savior at Easter time evokes other emotions in him, and that he sang this song with reverence and deep feeling for Someone whom he knows, loves, and serves.
Munk_MA: Thank you for providing the lyrics for His Hands. Again, it is a beautiful and touching song.
TXNancy: Thank you for the video of David singing Be Still My Soul to the MoTab. Wow–what a gift to them! And to us!
