Here at The Voice we offer a chance to chat and watch David sing on our UNPLUGGED channel on Livestream. Every Saturday night fans gather together to share the enjoyment of watching David Archuleta perform and talk about his career in videos. For me, it might be the single most enjoyable part of the week.
We have fun discussing each video. It brings David to life again in a special way. Recently, we watched an AOL sessions interview where David talks about the upcoming events he had planned since the American Idols Live Tour ended the previous summer of 2008. He was excited at the prospect of having his own tour to support his new eponymous CD, David Archuleta.

While watching the interview, I suddenly got the idea to tell David ( talking to my computer screen is normal, right? ) about what lies ahead for him in the future. As if to reassure him that his career was solid and the upcoming solo tour was just the beginning of a grand adventure for him and his fans! It was such a spontaneous reaction to the interview that everyone in the chat room joined in. I decided to copy our chat log with permission from all those who participated.

I can hardly wait for more of his dancing while singing. He will be a phenomenal dancer. That’s when the roof gets lifted and may we be there! Some singers can dance, with lots of help from a choreographer, but David will pass them all right at the starting gate.
He will be a famous singer who dances like no other. Do we really know of anyone so artistically inclined?
The MGR of David dancing is a great reminder.

This is great!! Chat is always so much fun.
No way could David have imagined all the amazing things he would do when he was only 17 years old. And we could still add so much more to the list. Like: He will do the cutest commercials ever in Asia. (Vangie) And he would attend concerts as a fan and be invited on stage to sing with some of his favorite singers and bands. And he would meet and fanboy over one of his favorite singers. He would have audiences jumping up and down and singing along to one of his own songs, ZG, and he would be referred to as “The Voice.”

Arghhhh! I was an hour late that night and missed this dialogue! I can imagine all the fun you guys had coming up with David’s accomplishments, one after the other. When you string them together like this you can really see how busy he’s been since Idol.
I guess you can call me a chat junkie but I will just have to get there a little earlier next time. haha

Thanks Angelica for the St Patricks Day post. The Medley line “Did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth” kept replaying in my mind all day……..and now again today. Just love David’s accent on that line. ๐

The timeline for the listing of those accomplishments was only 8 minutes. We could have gone on for hours, but I think that was pretty good coverage for an extemporaneous chat. I’m sure fans can add a long list. Great fun. While remembering what has happened in the last five years we look forward to what is to come. There is no limit.

To think of the years we’ve been getting together on Saturday nights and the enjoyment we continue to have for David Archuleta speaks volumes. So many things he’s done. So many ideas, sharing, and supporting each other not only as fans but as friends have been so helpful in getting through the wait.
Oh David, I believe you’ve only shared the surface of all your talents.

I actually stopped in to chat Sat. but I was so tired from birthday celebrating (another year, more age on the body) that I just listened to David and watched the chat as it was going on. I was too tired to even pick a color for my login. ๐ I really miss chat. It’s been far too long since I logged in. I guess I need to put real life in the background on Sat. night and chat (after all, what’s more important?!).
I’m loving that we only have a week to lift-off for NMHF!!! I’ve heard people saying that they aren’t going to buy it because it has too many previous songs. WHATEVER!!!!! That may be so, but there are going to be some mighty fine photos of a mighty fine looking dude between those covers! Besides, the old songs don’t ever get old if you listen carefully. You can always pick out a new little bit of something that you’ve not heard before…jmo. And, there’s always the 2 new ones. I haven’t let myself listen to HFO snippets other than once…. I’m waiting (patiently? NOT).

One of David’s big accomplishments that wasn’t mentioned was that David wrote a book. I’m sure he never thought he’d do that at such a young age. We really could keep going numbering more of David’s accomplishments. I wonder what new things he will accomplish when he returns from his mission.

Chat, it’s good for what ails ya, even if you are just listening. Maybe someday I will get my streaming issue resolved. Love the spontaneous exchange on his doings. His schedule for 4 years was exhausting, he never let it show.
And speaking of the Dougie, wonder when we are gonna get the “official” video?
tawna, I buy not only for his music, but because I want to support him, period. I want him creating music and performing for us for a long, long time.The cost of an album is like forfeiting one time eating out, well worth it to me ๐

Abrra. thanks for all the great pics. You are a master decorator. The illustrations of your article showing David’s 5 year journey were perfect. The happy one at #19 makes me smile. But the intense one at #13 is killer. Takes a while to scroll down past that one.
A coworker was telling me she collects autographs and has 27 autographs of famous people. I was not impressed, since I have about that many of a famous person.

I have to admit that I have so many pictures that I can’t find anything haha I had to go to Google Images for some of the ones in the article.

I have all my autographed items framed and hanging on my wall. I am blessed by good friends that got some of them for me when I could not attend an event. I cherish them all.

I was driving home from work tonight, pretty late, and I was listening to an old cd of David’s idol songs. I love it all. But Angels… There is something so golden about it. I forgot I was driving on ice, and soon I was home safe and sound ๐

Betsy, that’s beautiful. Music should be part of the core of subjects taught at kinder along with a foreign language.
This last year is going to be tough. We miss him so much and are so ready for his return. But we will wait because he is so worth it.
David planned so many unexpected gifts that I’m always on the what more could be in store for us. He put a team together that I think is doing great.

That was the week of inspirational songs on Idol. David instinctively knew to chose Angels. By that time in the competition I already knew that I would enjoy any song he sang because i loved his voice. But I never expected to be so affected by the song choice, lyrics and his very powerful performance.
I remember that night very well; I felt like my heart was being lifted out of my body and taken on a ride soaring through space. When the song was over, David very gently placed it right back. Crazy, but true. I knew that night he was something very special.

I had a dream about David last night.
I walked into a room somewhere and he was just standing there singing with about 20 people standing around him. He was in the middle of a circle. His voice was so beautiful, so perfect that I started crying. He looked over at me, said hi, and continued singing whatever that song was. (An unfamiliar song to me)
I just remember how beautiful the whole thing was.

Dayzee, What Child Is This, my morning starter last several days. Get to work sit in car until over. Previous to that one was Ave Maria. I tell you he has hypnotized us.
Grammy, not only do I have several copies of COS, hard cover, soft cover (with NY best seller on front), downloaded on ipad so it goes with me wherever I go โฅ I’ve read it 5 times and am constantly going back to different sections, it is a great great book.
The other would’ve never guessed David did moment was at the Selena tribute in Texas. David singing with Mariachi???!!! I think I stopped breathing for several seconds. It is hard to sing with Mariachi and he nailed it, I mean out performed that. I showed my parents and they couldn’t believe it. They are also waiting for the Spanish album ๐

For those NA fanatics, we are skipping a week of Nandito Ako chat tonight and starting at Episode 1 next Tuesday night. I did the puzzle in 10 min. It was tricky with such an abstract subject. I like the idea of adding it to comments.
We had a lively chat last night in Unplugged as we watched American Idol 12 . We were in agreement for the most part on who was best of the night, Candace Glover.
And who was predicted to leave tonight, Lazaro Arbos.
If Lazaro Arbos is still standing, I will believe that looks over talent are the cause. To quote Randy ” This is a singing competition!”
They did a great job picking songs for the night. Devin Velez sang The Long and Winding Road, which was the only “David” song of the night. Devin did a nice job giving his best. He is my fav male singer this season.
Ok enough about that. Now to the most important part of this comment.

I agree with your assessment of AI last night. Another one I really like is Kree. Both her and Candice have wonderful voices and great stage confidence. I think Lazaro may go home tonight too. I’m not sure he could handle learning and singing two or three songs if he makes it much farther. The competition and the judges comments will only get more difficult to handle as time goes on.
Yep, David should definitely keep working out. It’s good for his heart … and ours. ๐

Finally got a chance to jump in here. Don’t have much time to comment anymore, but still lurk everyday. I really like Angie Miller. She really connects with the music, much like another singer/songwriter/pianist I adore. Her voice is limitless in range, amazing. I hope, for his sake, Lazaro goes home tonight. He seems so fragile mentally. I don’t think he could handle another of Randy’s mean critiques. There’s constructive criticism and then there’s just plain mean. Randy was mean.

I don’t watch AI, I do read about it at MJ’s and the manipulation tactics are alive and well on AI.
I watched Devin’s performance and he has a nice enough voice but a run at the end of just about every verse is overkill IMO. A certain detachment from the song itself, singing not feeling. And yes I’ve been spoiled by the best interpreter of every song I’ve ever heard. The voice, passion and feeling is incomparable…IMO ๐

I saw part of Idol last night, enough to see Lazaro ruin one of my favorite Beatles songs “In My Life”. Poor guy. How stressful it must be in the top 9 and then to be criticized can’t be easy. But song choice is so important. I see that now.
Candice’s performance of ‘Come Together’ impressed me!
But Devin’s “Long and Winding Road’ fell short, IMO. I listened with an open heart and mind and tried not to compare but….David feels the song, tells the story of the song and makes sure we understand. Nobody compares.
It’s very simple. The contestants should not sing any song that David sang on that show.

Bebe, I agree that contestants should not sing any song that David has sang. Also, when David sings someone else’s song, he owns those too! ๐ He is just the best and can’t be beat, period! I compare everyone with David and no one even holds a candle to him! Therefore, the only music I buy anymore is David’s!!!!
Abrra, I figured the teens would keep Lazaro. He seemed better tonight and I hope things work out for him, whatever that may be. It does take a lot of guts to go in front of 30 million people when you can’t talk, so he may do better than we think. The top 4 was the same top 4 as last week and that was unusual. My favorite is Kree. ๐

Strange American Idol results. But we’ve seen stranger.
As for David singing The Long and Winding Road… David has an impeccable sense of timing, of when to soften the notes, when to crescendo, how to use his vibrato without in any way overdoing it. It is more than that he feels the music but that he interprets the emotion that needs to be in each note so perfectly (because I feel the music but am sure I wouldn’t know to interpret those notes, even if I didn’t sing like a frog). ๐
It is a combination of feeling and technique. He know the technique for getting from a note exactly what he wants from it – and I think it is in his cells, because he seems able to do it without thinking about it. He knows.
I could go on and on, but so could all of you. He’s just got it.
