David Archuleta ~ You are my Song

Posted by MT on Monday, January 7, 2013

David Archuleta

He is my Song

None of you will be surprised

When you hear me say

I was talking to a friend

About David the other day.

But when I started talking about

All the things he’s done

It came to mind that I would rhyme

Every single one.

Listening to his music

Has now infected my brain

I now think of him lyrically

And my words come in refrain.

I don’t know why it’s happening

But I have no control

Every time I think of him

To speak my heart and soul.

My thoughts become the lyrics

To a song within my head

Echoing to his melody

As each new word is said.

OMG What’s happened to me?

This is all so wrong.

The only explanation is …

It’s because He Is My Song.

I tried to write a paragraph and this is what came out!

I give up. It is what it is. The Voice is what it’s all about.

Is it 2014 yet? 🙂

Great post, MT! Your “poem” is right on the money, “he is our song”! He had me 5 yrs ago from the first time I seen him sing “Waiting On The World To Change”! 🙂

Love the YAMS tribute video. Got so into it, it was over before I knew it. So enjoyable. ♥ The “trouble” video is cute too.

    Words can’t express
How I feel for this young man
    Mouth is speechless
Of this loving and adoring fan
    I’ve never seen greatness
    In another human
    As wonderful to witness
    From a loving, humble man.

    The melodies I hear
    Stay here in my heart
    The lyrics are clear
    With each word he start
    My heart full of fear
    It is torn apart
    I long for his music
    No matter how far
    For he is…My Song!

    ….hahaha! I didn’t know I can write a poem.

MT – he inspires poets! Lovely!

And now I have to go listen to the Forevermore album for a while because I’ve been neglecting it 🙂

Are you sure you weren’t vaccinated with a record needle? 😉 Nice job!

Putting some lists of things together for David for when he gets back. What 3 songs of 2012 do you think he would like and should hear? (KS)

Suggestions? tweet them to @DavidArchie or @kariontour
( or post here and I will pass it along)

My psychic powers are working again! I love that top pic so much that I put it on the left sidebar last week. haha!
It’s from this blog by a fan who went to some CA MKOC concerts. She took some great pictures.

  6. MT,Love your post, and your rhyming poetry♥
As the song says.♫You are the song ,playing so softly in my heart♥♪.

once he takes up residence, in your heart and mind, everything changes. He inspires us in so many ways!

Abrra, love that pic at #5!

Thanks to Marlie & Angelica for that video. Love that!

I used to write poetry years ago but stopped for some reason I can’t remember. But, David seems to be inspiring me again. 🙂 You wouldn’t believe how often I am driving in the car listening to his music and the rhymes/lyrics in my head begin to just flow. I write some of my best stuff while driving. haha Unfortunately, I forget it as soon as I step out of the car.

“Are you sure you weren’t vaccinated with a record needle?”
ROFL You don’t even know how funny that comment is. When my husband and I were first dating, he said I must have been vaccinated with a Victrola needle because I talked so much!!! LOL

  8. MT said

Thanks! Glad you like it. 🙂

And this>> “once he takes up residence, in your heart and mind, everything changes. He inspires us in so many ways!”

Isn’t it amazing how he does that? So many of his fans are creating things because of him. People are writing poems, articles & stories, making videos, creating beautifully edited photos, doing paintings & sketches. It’s wonderful!

Dear Girl – you are SO fun! I love that you are willing to be so playful with yourself and with us. Thank you for sharing your “off the cuff” mental ruminations. I love it. <3<3<3<3

and… I think your hubby made that up. Too fun! Victrola Needle? Hummm. Does that mean DA has you going around in circles? (I know that was before DA… the image just made me smile!)

    Two words: never stop.

  10. bebereader said

MT, our resident Poet Laureate, your poem was so enjoyable to read!
I love how David seems to creep into every conversation; it’s the weirdest thing. I’ve been inspired by different things in my life including songs and artwork, books, plays and movies. The people who have been my inspiration are mostly those with whom I
have come into contact like family, teachers and friends.

But David inspires me in ways I never knew possible. Kind of uncanny when you think about it.

This paragraph says it all. It’s from Masterclass Lady’s most recent column on David Archuleta’s Retrospective Series Part 11 on “Climb Every Mountain”.

“David Archuleta has the ability to give meaning to simple things, the strength to never give up and the courage to stand strong for what he believes. These qualities are exceptional and he portrays them without effort. His modesty and humility are virtues to be envied and this is why we continue to acknowledge how special he is.”

    Read full article here:

Edit: P.S. I didn’t realize David sang “Climb Every Mountain” on Star Search!

Oh my! Almost too much gorgeousness for a Monday. Loving the poetry. Like most of you, David has been my song for a long time now.

Thanks to Angelica for bringing that “Trouble” video over from the last thread. I was not done looking at that.

Jan, do you recall the Salt Lake music critic, Mr. Burger? He did a write-up on Bieber’s concert yesterday that had me laughing. “Clad in an all-white suit and black shades, Bieber came down from the rafters above the stage with a pair of silver wings.” Can you even imagine David doing that? Ever?

  12. Dayzee said

Bebe, great paragraph you brought us from Masterclass Lady. Well done.

  13. emmegirl14 said

Thanks MT (and Mspoohbear), love your poems! The talent of D’s fans always amazes me!

Angelica, glad I didn’t miss it that video.

I listen to very little contemporary music, so my tweet would be Adele’s “Someone Like You.”

  14. Abrra said

Bebe thanks for the link because it lead me to pikepss’s youtube channel. She took some really STUNNING videos. I downloaded them all!

When i was a child, someone in the family said the same thing to me! We owned a Victrola that you had to crank to use, so I know the reference.

  15. MT said

“He had me 5 yrs ago from the first time I seen him sing “Waiting On The World To Change”!” I know! One minute of that voice and it was a done deal. 🙂

    Bluesky, 😀
“Does that mean DA has you going around in circles?”
I’m not sure I can Blame David for ALL of my “going around in circles”. LOL I think maybe it’s just “Who I AM”

    Bebe, Thanks! 😉
I saw that article and the video you posted of young David. That’s what started my “research” on how he has evolved since then. (Remember discussing that in chat? Or was that during nap time? :)) The one of our grown up David singing that song is so very Gahhhh worthy! His voice is out of this world!

    Dayzee & Emme, Thanks!

You mean we were BOTH vaccinated with Victrola needles? haha It explains so much about our conversations.

  16. gee I never remember hand crankin’ anything but a jack-in-the-box.but my older sister got her arm caught in a washing machine wringer when she was little! eek!
Bebe, I was watching that video last night!!, of young David singing “Climb Every Mountain.”
I always get a kick out of seeing how many of the same movements, and mannerisms he has kept since he first started performing. The way he uses his hands,(the clenched fist, the open fingers),the ‘mini’ hunkerdown!, and the buildup to the glory note♥ He sure held that last note a long time!

  17. annie said

Abrra ~ I don’t have any songs from 2012 I would like to hear David sing. The two songs I would love to hear David sing are very old. They are “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” and “Unchained Melody”. I believe they would reduce all of us to swooning.

Well, that’s my two cents worth.

  18. MT said

I was just watching that video in #1 again. The song is so perfect. That boy is trouble. haha His girlfriend is going to be singing that to him one day. And did anyone notice that walk he takes at the yellow mark on that video? Look familiar? 🙂

“gee I never remember hand crankin’ anything but a jack-in-the-box.”

ROFL What exactly are you saying????

“Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” and “Unchained Melody”. I can’t even imagine how gorgeous that would be with David singing.

  19. tawna21 said

MT, perfect-ness!! 🙂 Your thoughts and words seem to be the same as a lot of the rest of us. Some of us just aren’t talented in the poetry department. I always loved English classes in school, until it came to poetry. It was h.a.r.d I thought.

The videos are great!! Thanks Abrra for the link to pikepss’s channel. You can see in the CEM video that he had some real emotion going into that song. It left him breathless and seemingly overcome from it. It’s beautiful. So is he!

David needs to hear ‘I Won’t Give Up’ by Jason Mraz. I’m loving that tune.

  20. tawna21 said

Oh yeah, Annie… ‘Unchained Melody’ has got to be on his set list at some point in time!!!

  21. annie said

The lyrics to both songs are so romantic.

    Unchained Melody:
Oh my love my darling, I’ve hungered for your touch a long lonely time.

    Smoke Gets In Your Eyes:
They asked me how I knew my true love was true.
I of course replied something here inside cannot be denied.

I am swooning just thinking about David singing those lyrics!!

  22. betsy said

Mt, you are so talented. Like – really talented. It’s wonderful that you started writing again. ❤

I was having a difficult time thinking of music David didn't hear, that I thought he'd like from 2012.
Then I remembered Born and Raised by John Mayer. It came out right after he left. The guy may be a jerk, but his music is genius, and his song A Place to Call Home is so gorgeous. I liked almost every song on that cd and think D will as well.

  23. MT said

I have a feeling that once David falls in love we’ll get all sorts of love songs. 🙂 Fans will be swooning everywhere!

  24. MT,

10..David on “Star Search”..I seen him on there but had forgotten about it and didn’t know they were the same person til he was put on FB. Loved him on there too!

11..Dayzee, I remember him writing that bad article on David’s MKOC concert. No, I could never see David flying down on stage with angel wings! hahaha He doesn’t need stupid props like that. All he has to do is open his mouth and sing! Whoo hoo! ♥

13..I love him singing Adele’s “Someone Like You”. Wish he would have sang the whole song in that one video. Can someone post it here? I don’t know how. Love it! ♥♥

17..Also love both songs and would love to hear him them There are some of Elvis’ songs that he would blow our socks off with too!

26..Hate to hear about Hanne. She’s such a great fan and artist.

Love your poem. He is more our song than he will ever know. So often he is just singing away inside at odd moments of the day. Did I say ODD? 🙂

Very sad about Hanne from Denmark. I met her in Orlando at a David concert finally after so long knowing her online. She is so sweet and talented and such a devoted fan to our David. Please keep her in your prayers.

Unchained Melody. That is OUR song, my hubby’s and mine. David would kill that and many fans. Here is a great video of Bobby Hatfield singing it. What a voice! Not THE VOICE but gorgeous, just the same.

  31. Angelica said

Jans, I couldn’t find the video where he doesn’t sing Someone Like You, dang that interviewer, but here is the Adele. I am going with Emmegirl on this one. David, please, please, please…sing this when you come home. When you come home. When you come home. Just come home.

  32. Bychance said

You guys have inspred me. Here goes:

    I really can’t explain it,
    This thing called ODD.
I simply sat at home one day,
    to watch your DVD.

Your Voice was like an Angel,
A Light shone from your eyes,
Your Smile lit up the univers,
    My Heart emitted sighs.

    The Music you were singing,
    To Inspire and uplift,
I could not pull myself away,
    T’was such a Soulful Gift.

And now a Year has come and gone,
And still I am in Awe.
You’ve Touched my life with Joy and Love,
    And Looks?…against the Law!

And while I May not understand,
    These Feelings, oh so strong,
    One thing’s clear, dear David,
    YOU, sir, Are My Song.

That was fun! Have a good night everyone! I lurk here often and love The Voice!

  33. jans11 said

Thanks, Angelica for the videos! Yes, David would kill us all off singing those songs! I know that little bit he sang just penetrated deep into my heart and I wanted more! more! I shut my eyes and pretended David was singing them and OMG! Makes me miss him so much! ♥

    Welcome Bychance! Great poem!

Jan, were you thinking of this video?

Really having a difficult time trying to come up with a list of good music for David to listen to when he gets back. Songs that came out while he was gone and that he would love.

Knowing him, he’ll end up finding the best ones on his own, people we’ve never heard of but will be huge stars in 2-3 years lol.

Hi all, I don’t think Kari was asking for suggestions of what David should sing, just songs he might like to hear. He’s somewhat out of the loop these two years compared to how tuned-in he usually is to what’s going on in music. I think he might really like P!nk’s song ‘Try’, since it’s one of those themes that are in a lot of his songs, about overcoming adversity. Plus he has said he really likes her as an artist. Gayle, I agree that Mumford & Sons song is another one he might really like.

Until two days before Christmas, the only thing I knew about David Archuleta was that he was cute/adorable and had been on American Idol. Then, I watched him sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in their Christmas concert. The music was so compelling I kept listening to it over and over. Gradually I realized who David Archuleta is. The first time: Yes, he is cute! The second time: And he can sing! The third time: Boy, can he sing! The fourth time: He has an exceptional talent! The fifth time: His talent is from God! The sixth time: He believes what he is singing!

Then I looked around the internet and found Elder Archuleta singing in the Christmas concert from Chile. When I saw him singing O Holy Night, I knew he was singing TO God. My heart melted.

During most of the past year, the missionaries have been teaching and loving me back into full activity after years of depression and sadness. Many elements have contributed to the emotional, spiritual, and physical healing I have recently experienced, but David/Elder Archuleta is the golden broom that swept the remaining detritus from my heart and opened up my capacity to love and to accept love.

In the past few months, I have recognized God’s handiwork twice. The first time was on October 17, when I traveled through the mountains of southwest Virginia to the West Virginia border. These mountains are spectacular in a gentle way on any given day, but that day, in brilliant sunshine, they were glorious with color and beyond sublime. The second time was during Christmas week, when I heard David/Elder Archuleta sing. His voice transcends the things of this world and connects us with heaven. That young man is a gift to us from God! I agree with the many fans who have commented, “he makes me want to be a better person.” He makes me want to be a better person!

I discovered “Forevermore” the other evening. I listened to it for two or three hours. Then I cried myself to sleep.

Thank you for coming here to tell your story. We often say that not everyone takes the time to “get” what David’s music is about, but you got it right away! It would be amazing for him if you wrote it again and sent it to him in a letter. His address is listed on the top right side of this site. It’s just the kind of story he needs right now. To know that you have been touched by missionaries and his voice is exactly the reason why he sings. We offer his live music for download here for fans to put on their iPods. Click on the top left “Abrra’s Candy Store” to go there. His released music is available from additional links on the left, including MOTAB DVD.

    Welcome to The Voice!
Your comment was so appreciated. We love hearing from new fans and their stories about how they came to be fans of this remarkable young man. Most of us are here since David was on American Idol, five years ago. From watching David sing to us week after week in our livingrooms to holding our collective breath at the results show, hoping he would not be eliminated, to voting after the finale on every phone in the house until our fingers were sore. But it was all worth it because five years later, David continues to inspire me to be a better person. And his zest for life is contagious. I’ve been a fan of many celebrities but none has affected me the way David does.

He was nothing short of magnificent when he sang with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Glad they are re-running the show so that those who missed it the first time could have the experience. The connection David makes with the audience when he sings is one of his trademarks.

We’re proud to be here at The Voice, waiting for Elder Archuleta to return from mission. And we’re glad you stopped by to comment. Please let us hear from you again. 🙂

Hello to all my new friends! Thanks for the warm welcome–it looks like I’ve landed on the right spot!

Since December 23, I’ve been mesmerized by David Archuleta. I’d almost call it an obsession, but it’s not an obsession, it’s something else. Someone suggested a soul connection–is it that? I have a new-found ability to give and receive love–is it love? His singing—is it the music I’ve been waiting to hear, that I didn’t even know about? I’m puzzled. One of the first things I said when I had a full picture of him was, “I want to marry him!” And he’s decades younger than I am! Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on?

I’ve been annoying my friends with all sorts of blather about David/Elder Archuleta. This was a recent text to my friend Scotty, who tries his best to humor me: “I’ve been listening to ‘Forevermore’ for the past two hours. I CANNOT get enough of David Archuleta! Good grief! WHAT is happening to me?! I wish I were a teenager again! Or he were a retiree! Help me, Scotty!”

And why is Elder Archuleta’s birthday picture the wallpaper on my desktop?

We can relate to every word you are saying. Every feeling you are having. Oh my gosh, you have lots of reading material! We all said the same stuff you are saying.
Guess what though? It never goes away. ❤
Almost 5 years now, and here we are, still.
We call getting lost in his youtube videos the vortex.

Ronaleem, welcome to this most awesome site. You will love it. It’s a place of love because we have all been taught (maybe re-taught) the meaning of love by one very special gift from God — David/ Elder Archuleta. He truly is an amazing person. ♥♥

  82. Ronaleem 🙂 You’ve come to the right place. We can definitely relate. Ditto what Abrra suggested and what Betsy said. Have fun and welcome to our world. Been almost 5 years for me too. Also retired 🙂

    Dear Ronaleem
The symptoms you describe show that you have been afflicted with a condition that is rapidly spreading across the world. It has been predicted that this condition called ODD will reach pandemic proportions starting 2014 when the cause of it is expected to surface again in the United States to work its way into the hearts and souls of unsuspecting individuals.
I would like to inform you that there is no cure for ODD. It will only heighten in intensity as you surrender to the feelings you will experience when you come into contact with anything remotely connected with its cause. But do not fear. You will not want to be cured. Neither do the legions of fellow ODD-ers everywhere. So, welcome to the world of ODD!
    Yours sincerely,

  85. jans11 said

Ronaleem, welcome to our world! Your story sounds so familiar, so similar to all the rest of us! So it’s good that we have a common place to gather and share our delight in this ODD that we all are giddy with! I feel we are always in celebration for David in one way or the other! ♥

IF anyone is interested in supporting the Entertainment Lifestyle POLL – David for Foreign Act Newsmaker of the Year in PH (AFTER voting for Rainbow on MYX & EH on Musiqtone) we can maximize the channels for voting on EL based on the mechanics they posted on their YT channel

    1. Comment on their YT vid – – by posting:
I Vote for DAVID ARCHULETA for Foreign Act Newsmaker Of The Year –> 1 comment = ONE VOTE FOR HIM

    2. If you have a twitter account and you tweet
@Elifestyle #TELPinoyNewsmaker I Vote for David Archuleta for Foreign Act Newsmaker Of The Year –> THAT IS ANOTHER VOTE FOR HIM

    3. If you comment on their FB page I Vote for DAVID ARCHULETA for Foreign Act Newsmaker Of The Year –> THAT IS ONE MORE VOTE FOR HIM

    4. Via PollDaddy

The way I understand it, it is only in Poll Daddy where the voting is unlimited but for YT, FB & twitter it is just per account or once-off.

Can you imagine if only a fraction of David’s followers twit? That should give us the buffer needed to outplay the PollDaddy power voters for Lee Min Ho. Don’t ask me who he is and what he has done cos I have noooooooo idea.

EL is smart cos they are raising their social media activities thru this poll.

    Would appreciate your help. Thanks!

Ronaleem – “but David/Elder Archuleta is the golden broom that swept the remaining detritus from my heart and opened up my capacity to love and to accept love.” Well, dang this brought tears to my eyes.

So many of David’s fans have talked about how he’s changed them, given them hope, helped them through grief. You join a esteemed crowd. You now have ODD (see Abrra’s post #79 for more details about this lovely affliction).

And if you want to go back in time and get lost in the history of David, pop over to The David Chronicles where we have a pretty structured archive.

Now I have to run off and read “My Evening with David Archuleta” (Abrra #86).

  89. ronaleem said

    I’ve found my tribe!

Thanks for the explanation of ODD. I wondered why I succumbed so quickly, then I realized I hadn’t really. In one of the little ironies of life–you know, one of God’s haha moments–I lived in Utah during most of David’s career. I was vaguely aware of him, but I wasn’t interested in him. One of my student employees at BYU was a rabid fan, though. And I think rabid is the right word. She was like Pavlov’s dog. Her stimulus was “David Archuleta,” and her response was a high-pitched squeal. This stimulus-response worked every time–it was too easy!

So why was I immune for so long, and then vulnerable? Is there a moment when the planets are aligned correctly, a sweet spot, and it’s your time? As I’ve been pondering this, this is what comes to mind. I’ve mentioned that I’ve recently been learning to give and receive love. When that ability is blocked, life can be pretty miserable. But due to many factors, not the least of which is God’s mercy, that ability has been unblocked for me. I call this ability my “love receptors” for want of a better term. So my love receptors become sufficiently unblocked, I hear David singing music celebrating the Savior’s birth with the MOTAB (and you know he believes it–that joyful look on his face!) and Elder Archuleta singing O Holy Night in Chile, and my love receptors are fully opened up. My heart is healed. David/Elder Archuleta has something that healed me. What is it? Does he emanate love? What is it that I’m receiving from him? I sense of purity of spirit in him, as well. Whatever it is, I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter experience!

Idol Chatter 2012 in Review: The best Idol songs by Mark Franklin

Dozens upon dozens of songs were released by former Idol contestants in 2012. Some became mega-hits. Others, unfortunately, went largely unnoticed. So as I put together my 2012 Idol in Review blogs, I decided to compile two top 10 lists of favorite songs. First, the boring list. It’s the one that contains all the songs you’d expect to see on such a list.

I call that the boring list because you’re probably already familiar with most of those songs. The second list?

I decided to compile a Top 10 of my favorite Idol tunes that didn’t make the mainstream. The only criteria: the song needed to be released in 2012, as a single, on an EP or on an album. And I restricted the list to one song per artist.

You probably aren’t familiar with all the tunes that follow in these days when lots of music lovers download the hot songs and ignore the albums.

But it’s the list I’d rather highlight — 10 more obscure Idol songs that deserved to be hits … or at least heard. Repeatedly.

    So here goes …

    5. David Archuleta: “Broken”

Before leaving on a two-year mission with his church, David recorded an album called “Begin.” This is the album’s sole original, and a wonderful reminder of why David won legions of still faithful fans on Season 7 of American Idol.

  96. The cold medicine I am taking is having a strange effect on me. I have been fixated on David’s perfectly shaped (like a kidney bean) nostril in the top picture of MT’s article for the past five minutes.LOL
    ~sigh~ that face.♥

    Sky: 😉 Love you guys!

I was minding my own business working a crossword puzzle. A clue came up: Steamy, answer: hot. Then the next clue was: Spanish cheer, answer: ole! What does this tell me??? David will always be there somewhere lurking in the back of my mind, even when I am trying to be nonchalant!! 🙂

  98. mspoohbear said

Welcome! You’ve come to the GOOD PLACE (no pun intended, LOL)! People here are great and friendly. You are right, it feels like home! I’m more of a “lurker” than a “comment-er”! Is that right? LOLOL!

I was just like you before I found this fans site….confused and feeling alone, thinking “Am I the only one experiencing these emotions I have never felt before for any artist or human being?” I have admired so many artists in my lifetime, but only David made me feel this way. Finding this place gave me the only answer to those questions….ODD! It felt good to know that I am not the only person affected by this disorder. I learned that anybody who gets in contact, directly or indirectly with this wonderful human being, becomes infected. Sad to say that my life is full of stress, sadness and painful memories, but with ODD, it just made it a lot easier to deal with them. Kinda ODD, huh?! You can’t help but think positive seeing the way David leads his life. He gave me hope to fight all those adversities that keep coming my way. His music uplifts my soul!

Two & a half years ago, when I was a full-time member of a church choir, I got sick with a cough and cold that I couldn’t get rid off for months. I started to notice I had a hard time singing without losing my voice after two or three songs. I went to see a specialist and was diagnosed with a weakened left vocal chord. For someone who loves to sing, it was a torture. I went to voice therapy but due to conflicting schedule with my work, I was forced to stop going. I’ve lost interest in singing, quit the choir and basically resigned myself that I will not sing in a choir again. I could still sing but just to myself in the bathroom…hahaha! Then February 2012, I re-discovered David. (I knew him from American Idol and voted for him, but since I didn’t see his audition part, I didn’t know about his vocal paralysis until February 2012.) Since re-discovering David, I learned to appreciate more of the talent God gave me and to trust that with persistence and constant practice, I will be able to overcome my vocal chord problem. David gave me HOPE! If David did it, why can’t I? Glad to say that I am back with the choir and am still able to sing to my heart’s content. This is just one of the many stories how David affected my life. I’m sure other fans have pretty interesting stories, too.

    You comment was so funny!

“The cold medicine I am taking is having a strange effect on me. I have been fixated on David’s perfectly shaped (like a kidney bean) nostril in the top picture of MT’s article for the past five minutes.LOL

I’m so glad you’re able to sing again and that David helped you. {{{hugs}}} Bringing hope to people. What better gift is there?

LOLOL and if you turn that kidney bean upside down, it’s a heart. ♥

  100. Sky- Thanks a lot! You had me going up top to look at David’s nostril. Now if that’s not ODD, I don’t know what is.
Jan- Sounds like you’ve had triggers too 🙂

MsPoohbear-Thanks for sharing your story. Am so happy you are singing again 🙂

I’m re-reading Chords of Strength again after seeing Les Miz. I love David’s story and hearing him talk about he was inspired and wanted from a very early age to sing with feeling. It’s a Spiritual experience to see how he was influenced and how he is influencing so many of us and I’m sure those he is serving in Chile.

I think I became a fan BECAUSE he was gone. The Christmas concert with the MOTAB introduced me to him (in a really great way!! Still listening to it!), but the Christmas concert in Chile sealed it. His suit and tie and missionary nametag to me showed his great humility and his commitment to God–he was not trying to please the world. His singing was so transcendent–especially O Holy Night–that it literally pierced my heart and reached into my soul and filled it with beauty and light. His countenance, as well, showed his devotion to God. What I saw in him, I want for myself.
