Cloaked in silence, to contemplate
Inspiration is born
A time away from stress and trials
Ties to the past are torn.
~
To live without the daily grind
Free to think anew
Plan ahead for what could be
With hindsight still in view.
~
To walk away evasive of
The shadows of the past
Begin anew with visions held
To see the future at last.
~
The view is clear with thoughts untwined
Looking straight ahead
Focused on a single point
Where inspiration led.
~
That path now cleared of fog and smoke
Was chosen carefully
This is where his heart has led
He follows faithfully.

David has said this is a time of new beginnings. It’s not only a new journey for him in South America. It’s the beginning of his future as a whole. He will spend these two years quietly. And while he will be primarily focused on sharing his faith, he will no doubt use this time to contemplate his future as well.
It’s a time away from the ordinary world that David was used to dealing with on a daily basis, a time for him to learn who he wants to be and where he wants to go with his life and his music. His decisions will be made without the pressures of the music world and without the influence of family, friends, and yes, even fans.
In the end, he will know that the decisions he makes are his own rather than a reflection of what those around him may want.

Enjoyed this poem a lot! Its like you climbed inside David’s heart and looked around. I agree with you that what he learns while away from his comfort zone will only help him to define who he wants to become as an artist. Who’d a thunk he’s have to go so far away to find himself? 🙂

I often think of where his career will go once he returns. I think he must certainly wonder too. I have so many questions about how he will procede once he returns. I wonder if even he knows yet. I can’t wait to see what happens and which path he decides to take.

How special that your poem was posted today, MT, as it is 6 months exactly since David entered the MTC. I miss David as much as anyone else, but from the moment of his mission announcement, I was with him 100%. After working almost nonstop for so long, he needed this ‘sanctuary’ time in his life. As 2014 approaches, I pray that we all will remember your last sentence, MT, and will patiently ‘wait’ for David’s 1st appearance, for as long as it takes him to come back to us.

MT, Beautiful poem about where David is right now. It’s tough on us to wait, but I am so looking forward to the person he brings back. I agree, being away from everything that’s familiar to him and having so much time to think can only be a good thing for a young man. He’s making a big sacrifice to follow his heart, but his family, friends, and fans are making a sacrifice too. Whatever is done for love is not always easy, but always, always, worth it. Life is good, and we are never far from his heart or he from ours. Aren’t we lucky, really, to have someone we care enough about to miss this much?
Thank you all for the happy birthday wishes! I had one of the best birthdays ever and tomorrow going shopping and having dinner with my husband to continue the celebration! Love you all.

DJA, #35..Thanks for uploading JR’s video…HE IS BREATHTAKING!! “Our guy in all his beauty” is a perfect description! His beautiful singing, his beautiful looks and his beautiful personality!This makes me miss him all the more! Thank goodness we can drop another month off the calendar! Working on 17 months now!
And Angelica, not much to say about my trip to Branson except is was so much fun doing just what we wanted. Ever heard of the “shop til you drop” slogan? Yep, that’s what we did and I got most of my Christmas shopping done. At night we sat around with a glass of wine talking about everthing. They aren’t DA fans so there wasn’t too much talk about him which was a bummer. But I had my cd’s with me and listened to them…can’t go even one day without hearing his beautiful voice! He makes my day! Other than going to Dolly Parton’s Dixieland Stampede, there wasn’t time for any more shows. Been to the Christmas show which brought tears to my eyes and the girls wanted to go to the regular one and I hadn’t seen it so it was good to see too. There are about 75 different shows and things to do. Plus craft stores galore. It is amazing! It was sad that Andy Williams passed away. We were talking to a kid that was checking us out in a craft store and he said that he lived 3 doors from him and when the ambulance sirens woke him up , he knew what had happened. He said he had only actually talked to him about 3 times but he was so nice and even at his age, he went out and mowed his grass and took care of his yard. In 3 weeks I’ll be going to Vegas and whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! haha But, nothing will be happening since I’m going with 2 other gals, so will be just “hanging out” again. Oh, to have a man in my life! lol

Sorry about leaving chat last night with just a hey nonny nonny! I fell asleep almost as soon as I sat down and logged in. Went shopping all day with my husband and then had way too much birthday dinner.. Then an hour and a half drive home in the pouring rain and I was pooped! It was a good day though. All weekend has been so fun and kinda been celebrating the birthday the whole time. I had my regular archulunch with my fellow archieholic on my birthday Friday. We walked into the restaurant and the hostess looked at the two of us and said, “Three?” We let her set three places, one for David, in case he showed up. haha.
He totally stood us up but we forgive him. 😉

Today in church a children”s choir sang “I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus”. It was so unexpected I found a really large lump in my throat, a big smile on my face and tears on my cheeks. Three of those little voices were my grandchildren. I thought of David (of course) and felt he would love these youngsters. I wondered if there were children in his congregation singing the same song for him today. I hope so.

We were on a roll this weekend with chat in The Voice Unplugged for two nights. Thank you for the great company! JR, who was there on Friday evening has been busy uploading more videos to youtube. Reading all the excitement from 3.5 years ago.
There are old videos I haven’t seen since then, or maybe I hadn’t seen some of them ever. His written blogs. Stories about his day to day activities. His trips to Florida, then Hawaii, then back to Florida. All in a week.
His Gainsville Swamp performance. His Sundance performance. The family stuck in an elevator with Richard Rushfield story. The Twist interview where he hints that ALTNOY is more than a made up concept. 😉

Yesterday, we shot his new PSA here in New York. He was so fun to hang out with! Before the shoot, David told us that the “fur” on his coat was fake, but he wasn’t
