Broken! They saved the best for last! David poured his heart and soul into this song and if I’m not mistaken he’s accompanying himself on piano! It’s absolutely gorgeous! Can’t wait to hear this in person!!!! Spazzing here! Is anyone else out there???

At first I wondered if he was saying: hurt rather than heart. Either would make sense, I think.
But…. gosh, DA… just jump off the deep end. Just swipe my feet out from under me, leaving my heart wandering around in midair on it’s own. Or is it ‘wondering around in midair’? Wondering how you dive so deep and yet reach so high. Did you come down to find me? Or are you lifting me from above? Whether I look down or up – you seem to be there ahead of me, filling the world with both colors and sounds that I was unaware could exist at either those depths or heights.
Spare time? Is that what you used to create this music? Your ‘spare time’ is about as ‘spare’ as a stable, a sunset-sunrise, a galaxy of stars … or a heart.
It is like you are trying to mend another’s heart with your own.

THE snippet!!!! what a perfect way to end a long day spent walking thru the ah-mazing Calgary Zoo (it’s t–h–i–s big!!!). I really don’t think my hips and legs could have taken one more step.
I really, really, seriously suspect that ‘Broken’ will be the first song I listen to on Aug. 7-after I’ve managed to finally rip thru that dang cellophane wrap– on my way home from Deseret Book. *note to self–take pocket knife for opening wrapper*

“Broken” is hauntingly gorgeous. The deep rumbles in the background contrast with David’s falsetto, and the result is so emotional—like the song is taking the listener on a journey—it sounds like it could be a movie track. And, that is from a snippet. It’s embarrassing how many times I’ve listened to it already.

Hello fellow slain David fans. Just dropping by to squee!!!! with you. Broken has shaken me out of the shadows and has taken me by the heart. I am having a major emotional response to his voice just in this little snippet! I was excited before in anticipation on hearing the other snippets but Broken well this takes it to another level.
Has anyone checked ASCAP to see if this was written solely by David? Didn’t know if I had missed someone already having clarified that.

Here’s what:
I wish all of David’s musical friends would tweet out the album information and help him. Gaga loved David. If she sent out a tweet to her followers (she has over 27 million), that would be huge. Now, how to get her (and others) to do this w/out spamming her and annoying her is the question.
Maybe tweet her the YT link to their cute interview together, when SHE opened for him. And gave him sandwich advice and wanted to take him shopping at Barneys. 🙂
It was a darling interview.
p.s. My sister called me at work last night and asked me how come I never said anything before about David doing this album. I told her I thought she was probs sick of all my David talk. She told me I was crazy to think that and that she already preordered it based on the snippets I finally sent her. She is in LOVE with it already. So guess what? Non fans (well I’ll call her a semi fan) will want this, they just need to know about it and maybe HEAR a snippet or two. They just might find their favorite all time song on it done to perfection. ( Everybody Hurts is my sister’s fave, I NEVER KNEW THIS)

I was so spazztic last night haha. BEGIN. needed it’s own thread and Broken broke me in a good way. The sound and emotion I hear is unreal. I’m so anxious to have this album in my hand. I have some ideas for promo but need all the activity in my brain to settle down before I can get them out haha.

I listened to Broken last night, left a comment on his OS and refrained from leaving one here because I knew the thread was going to change. Thanks, Dja! Love that B&W cover pic by Hanne. Anyway, I went to bed and had trouble sleeping with his song in my head, playing over and over. The way he softly descends the steps of the scales with the word “I”and at the bottom, holds that trembling “heart” in his throat. The booming drum, broken, broken…
Just from this tiny view, I see a new maturity emerging in his art: a composition that is structurally strong, ethereally beautiful.

You have phenominal songs (proven) plus a phenominal singer (proven many times) and there is only one answer, a phenominal success. There is no room for anything different with that equation. For anyone who does not believe in this math, then just wait and see…

Djafan, believing…goes a long way too! You can look at something being a phenomenal success in different ways. Considering the state of the economy, the copying and sharing that goes on and everything else that hampers sales, maybe we should just look at how it is received with people like Masterclass Lady to determine his success. Many artists are having the same sales problems and as we know rely heavily on concerts abd tours for financial gain. It would make such a difference if we the fans would just support the artists by buying albums and buying iTunes. It is all over the entertainment news.
The biggest promotions at the moment us in the form of videos but I am certain that trending will also draw attention to him. The videos show the product and are lasting.

Thanks for keeping the music industry “picture” up there to look at with all the rest of the views. It is not one I follow much, so I always appreciate your input.
I do know that the ‘boys band’ I am most familiar with (my sons… heh) does a lot of promotion on Facebook. And they send out youtube videos and pages with the words of the songs. Their music is also on itunes and… Spotify; which is an on-line type of ‘make your own’ radio listening experience.
There are SO many more ways than one to “put chicken on a plate” (as my friend used to say!)

I WANT to say I don’t care at all, because David HAS left his fans a gift, and his voice is out of this world, and I know everyone who is a fan will be squeeing for months and months, and that will make the album it’s own kind of success. But inside of me I wish beyond wishes and hope beyond hopes that it soars. David deserves it, and I want so badly to hear him on the radio. Davidstopmyaging, it seems that people are ready to make judgement that the numbers will not be very high. Considering the fact that David is in Chile, it is amazing that we have such a wonderful album coming our way. I am surprised that they are even thinking about the numbers right after the promotion snippet for Broken. My guess is that David would prefer us to not be so hasty with judgement about him right now.
I just want to be excited about the release of the album and the fact that I have a copy on the way. He is on a mission and nothing else right now.
I share your excitement and wishes for him. I am looking forward to hearing his voice singing so many songs that are meaningful to him. His voice soars as only he knows how.

I just came from chat, late at that, too. How I missed it after being away for a long time. Thanks to all of you who were excited to see me online: Bebereader, Angelica, djafan, steno, emifriend, jstme, fenfan, and any one I might have missed mentioning.
Just want you guys to know what was up with me before the chat:
When I first heard the ‘Broken’ snippet, the words seemed to be “in time, never once opened up your heart. Everything’s broken…” It was puzzling to me. But when I read Bluesky’s comment that it was actually “and I never want to open up your heart. Everything’s broken.” I started feeling all shaken up and tears started falling. How can David stir up such strong emotions in me once more with just a phrase or two? And the build up of the instrumentals to “Do you see what I see…?” is very powerful. There goes David again with his intrinsic empathy in feeling the pain he sees in others. He just grabs your heart with that compassionate soul of his.
Then I just had to get into chat. I just had to. I wanted to be back so badly. Thank you all for being there and welcoming me so warmly. 🙂

In other breaking news, Gladys arrived in Chile yesterday and stopped in to Unplugged to chat with us. She is in a nice hotel and said she feels like a queen. Her view of the Andes from the plane was breathtaking. She says she will take many pictures of the country while there. So far she is calm about attending the devotional event.
The plan is that she will come back to Unplugged after the event, around 10pm edt tonight.

Hmmmm, guess who I was thinking about in church today—-the sermon was about being broken! We only know a few of David’s words in his “Broken”, so stunningly sung, and I am very curious as to what David is trying to say. For sure, we can expect him to give us hope and he will bless us with the thoughts within his heart, as he always does.
Rt now, it’s about 2 and a half hours before the Devotional begins. I’m thinking about Gladys and want to thank her, in advance, for everything she will share with us and I pray she will feel blessed by her entire experience.

It was so good to have JR with us for a long chat, missed Marlie too though. 😦 Having Gladys drop by was such a treat. She was so excited about just being in Chile and the luxurious hotel room, how beautiful Chile was, how delicious, (and expensive) the food was, and how the place abounded with fast food restaurants too. In the pub at the hotel where she was online with us, she heard simultaneous conversations around her in Spanish, Portuguese and English, so quite the cosmopolitan place! Like everyone here, my thoughts have been with her this whole day. For years now she has been so loyal and loving a fan without ever having met him or seen him in concert. We have brainstormed in chat long ago about how to get Gladys here for a visit to the states to see him but the expense and red tape seemed so insurmountable. And now this miracle! So happy for her and hope this evening, this meeting, is everything she imagined it would be. I know it will be a beautiful, inspirational program and so excited for her and others to hear his voice live. There is nothing like it. Hope she can feel as calm as she felt last night when she gets to finally stand in front of him. I’ll be waiting with the rest in chat tonight for her to arrive and tell us everything she saw, heard, and felt, if she is able to be coherent. 🙂 So via con Dios, dear Gladys and all others going to the Devotional tonight! I am sure that Abrra and others will post a translation of it here. I believe they were recording it. I could not be there for all of the chat time, but loved what was said. Gladys felt that it was worth every penny, she loved watching him sing with his eyes closed and felt the passion. As well, she got to hold his hand and tell him she was there from Argentina and that she got to tell him “thank you”.
We will get to read the whole, wonderful report, I am sure.

The longer snippets were found on foreign iTunes. Its legit previews. No fear yet the whole songs are out there. That will happen when the CD is released. That does disturb me.

Gladys held court to a FULL house in Unplugged. She spoke about her experience at the devotional event for 2 hours The room stayed silent to allow her to tell her story. It was just amazing that no one left til she was done. It was 1:30 am in the east. 🙂

I am so relieved that Gladys and her niece made it safely to Chile. It was a dream of hers since February 2008 to hear her favorite singer in person. As Angelica said earlier, this was the only way Gladys would get to live her dream.

Oh yes, last night/early morning in chat was very special, thanks to our amazing Gladys and to our trusty translators, JR, Andrea and DJA. How wonderful it is to know our David is healthy, happy and still glowing. Gladys indicated she will provide her written account of the event when she returns to Buenos Aires and she will no doubt have more fascinating details for us. She was quite surprised to know there were 50 fans in Unplugged just to see what she had to say — silly girl, there would have been even more if it weren’t that 50 is the limit. How lucky were we to have our sweet reporter there, fulfilling her dream. God is good.
Now, how about those longer snippets? I just can’t stop listening. David sounds better and better — how does he do it? God’s gift of course.

I can also see the download count, which normally only the account owner can view. There was a change in the way mediafire works about a year ago, so maybe that has something to do with it. I am clueless. I wrote to her and asked how this is possible. I tried moving the folder down to the Candy jar and it says I don’t have permission. Well, excuse me 🙂

I am such a true lurker, but Broken makes me want to explode. “I never want to open up your eyes, everything is broken; I never want to open up your heart, everything is broken”. The voice, the tenderness, the words, embraces your whole being – how does this child do that to us? Can we manage to get David nominated for a grammy or whatever it is you get for music before he gets back? He certainly deserves it for everything he has done for music and the music community but especially for this latest gem.

His fans have produced some awesome videos and since there are no videos for these songs, I would love to see some videos done using these songs, not fan videos of David, but videos relevant to the songs – social issues, relationships, world issues – I think they would have more impact on non-D fans. Have people listening to these amazing songs and their meanings with David’s voice as the vehicle. They will soon be seeking out that name and will have discovered an amazing talent all on their own.

EMME – Mediafire must be playing tricks on Abrra & me 🙂 Yes I uploaded those while uploading to YT.Aside from the continuous file, I prepared the individual clips as well cos based on experience, at times you immediately want to go back to a specific point in a song – that would be hard to do in a 15-min continuous mp3 file.
If anyone here is has chosen to be still snippet-free, you have my utmost admiration. But just a caution: have a care on 07 Aug, heart may burst if you listen to the whole album at once. Need to pace or have a transition period to prep for the total magnificence of this album. The snippets help 😉 Just sayin…

Hola amigas. What a wonderful night it was last night but I paid for it today.
After chatting with Gladys from the edge of our seats, (thanks JR, Andrea, and Djafan for translating for us) I got an email and phone call about a certain artist’s longer snippets on itunes. Of course, they had to be listened to right then and there. I have will power, but not where chocolate or the Voice is concerned. Can’t resist either, ever. What beautiful vocals and arrangements on each and every song! Am especially loving DGU with Libby Linton and Beautiful with the growl, and of course, Broken. Honestly, I love every single song on the album. So looking forward to hearing them in their entirety so may be at Walmart getting a copy on the 6th at midnight too, Jans and Dayzee. The ride home will be so worth it!
Gladys spent today sight-seeing in Chile and will be back in Buenos Aires, Argentina tomorrow. She will be writing a recap of her experience and we will post as soon as we get it. We will not be posting the original transcript from Unplugged on the site. It was an immediate “happening” and will remain in that realm. You may see some copied portions posted elsewhere but you will not see them on The Voice. We had the chat in Unplugged to be there to support Gladys in the realization of her dream to finally see and hear David. That was achieved with a limited number of persons present, fifty to be exact. As always, respect for his wish for privacy at this time is paramount. We will, however, allow Gladys to tell of her experience and relate her feelings when she has had time to sort them through. Hopefully we will not have to wait very long! Djafan will be assisting her a little with translation, but she is getting really quite good at English, as evidenced by her comments here, since practicing for years with us in chat. That is, when she is not too excited to type, lol! So proud of her for being so David-like in stepping out of her comfort zone and taking on new challenges, including getting on a plane for the first time in her life to cross the Andes! Safe travels back home, Gladys! We will be here to welcome you back with (((open arms))).

It is very late at night. It’s about the only time I’m able to post comment. I am so sad to have missed Gladys in chat Sunday. I knew the “transcripts” weren’t going to be able to be reproduced in any way. I’m looking forward to her recap in the near future. Wow, I am so happy for her. What are the chances?! She so far away and only able to dream about meeting David and it actually happened for her! I’m thinking her love and devotion to him sent out such a strong vibe that it may have actually pulled David towards her, Ha ha. Felicidades, mujer!
I listened to the snippets of Begin. Be Still my Soul an Broken have reached out and grabbed at my heart. What a very special gift David has left for us while we wait.
Although I haven’t commented lately, I’m always here. Life has been happening. Family matters, exhaustion and lack of pc access have kept me from commenting. But I have been able to keep up by read-only from my phone and a quick lurk on pc now and then. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t listen to David. I’m still here and always will be. Love you all. Now off to peaceful sleep with that voice in Be Still My Soul in my head.

It’s great to see the lurkers come out of hiding, so understood at a time like this — long beautiful snippets plus Gladys’ wonderful presentation in chat. Can’t stop thinking about it. Was so happy I was able to hold a ticket along with 49 others in The Voice Unplugged Sunday night to hear about Gladys’ wish-come-true. Her much-anticipated recap will be posted on this site once she gets a chance to put it together.
The new long clips from BEGIN are hauntingly beautiful. As usual, David takes classic songs and makes them better but IMO, the best song on the CD is “Broken”, his own creation. My least favorite song on the tracklist, “True Colors” has blossomed for me in the 90-second snippet, with David’s interpretation.
This album is so good; I just want to drown in David’s voice.
Keep those postcards going to David at the fan address posted above in the right sidebar. I just mailed one off to David yesterday, thanking him for BEGIN.
By popular demand, we will be re-running the miniseries, “Nandito Ako” on Tuesday nights, starting next Tuesday, July 24.

Hi all, I wanted to thank all the attention you gave me on Sunday night. Arrive at 2 am today, and now I’m at work. It is true that I have all the symptoms post-david. I have wanted to mourn, because I miss him. But I feel a peace and great happiness. I touch his hands and looked into his eyes, I could say thank you. There were many people taking pictures and filming in the midst of all this, I take your hand and put my hand on his hand, I could look at it and say thank you.
Not allowed to say: thanks david, only thanks or thank you brother, I just said thanks.
Thank you for changing my life, thank you for having good friends, thanks for opening my mind. Not enough thanks.
I hope to return on 13 October to Chile. There will be a new event that day, only two elders sing, david and Coello. I have the hope that is open to the public.
I want to correct, in the hall there were more than 100 people. There were about 10 rows of long benches, then had chairs, but there were more people standing.
The hall was full. This was also a new beginning for David, I think it was the first time he sang 5 songs in Spanish. As soon as I heard these songs, I asked for a wish that someone recorded, so you also can hear her glorious voice.
(I know it should not do that, for privacy that David asked, but everyone is entitled to hear a miracle)

Guys, I have to tell you that those 90 sec clips have upped my ODD to a whole new level. I don’t even know what to say about his voice anymore. I am stuck on Broken and Beautiful.
Broken: Every note he sings. Like Bebe, I feel like I am drowning in the beauty of his voice. And the melody is just heavenly.
Beautiful: The Dooo ooo ooo ooomed … gahhhh And then the archugrowl. Man! What he can do with his voice is just phenomenal. And then there are the multi-layered back up vocals. It just doesn’t end. The voice. The Voice! THE VOICE!
I think I am on David overload and need a life preserver!

Enjoyed hearing all the longer clips but trying not to listen too much, so I can enjoy the CD when it’s released. I was Mesmerized for 15 minutes the morning after Chat with Gladys. It was all sooooooo great, can’t put it in words.
All I could say is “Thank You Lord, for blessing David and us” Can’t even imagine how Gladys feels after waiting all of this time as a Faithful fan to see and hear David LIVE.
I’m thrilled even when cleaning out a drawer and re-reading the postcard from David thanking me for coming to his last two concerts in the US and the letter.

I was always sad knowing you were so far away, and might not be able to ever meet him. I prayed you would some day. And now….look at you! You are a celebrity! Prayers are answered—-and even though I never considered myself to be especially religious, this just has to be a “God” thing. It was meant to be. I am over the top happy for you. I will hang on every word when you give us your recap.
Speaking of “God” things, BEGIN must be another one. Why does David’s voice touch me so much? Not many things do. Every time I listen to these pieces of song, I feel like I’m having an out of world experience. What a remarkable young man.

Gladys- Glad you are safely home–and hope your withdrawal symptoms aren’t too bad==we have all had them.
Isn’t life a hoot–there you were very far away from David and thought you would never get to see him sing live–now look at you–the one and only one of us- that hopefully will get to see him twice — while he’s ON his mission.
I would have put that in a realm of almost impossible.
I’m with every one else on those longer snippets–I put on my headphones-crank up the volume -close my eyes and am transported somewhere into the twilight zone—on the duet song–for a moment when I first heard it I thought the female singer was Eva Cassidy –( through some electronic means)……………gave me the goosies!!!

David Archuleta anyone?!?
So, I was called into work last night while I was at my other job… so I worked all day yesterday with no break! My friend Angel had to bring my food because by 6:30 I still hadn’t eaten anything! But this is story time!
I was getting everything ready for the show and it was Brooke White(Former American Idol Contestant) Number 1 she is adorable and the sweetest person ever! 2. She is actually good and I hated her on american idol! But I knew it was going to be a LDS crowd and mostly teenage girls and their moms and some husbands that were dragged along. I knew it was going to be a relaxing show… Which I needed. Anyway, I had just poured all the Gatorades into a bucket as well as the water and I had the boxes they were in as well as a chip box. The boys that I work with refuse to let me take the trash out to the dumpster so I just put them in the side room that leads out to the side entrance. as I open the door the room is dark and I walk in and run smack into someone. A small someone. it’t dark and I can’t really see but I knew it wasn’t anyone I worked with then a voice way too familiar said “oh man, I am so sorry are you alright.” I said yes I was fine he only scared the crap out of me. At this time I was trying to figure out why i knew his voice! So I turn to walk back out to the Lobby and when I get out in the light it was DAVID ARCHULETA! I almost died. He had come just to see his old friend from American Idol and then he sang 2 songs with her. I literally can’t even describe to you how little he is! Like my mom’s size!(sorry mom.) But then he rushed upstairs as to not be seen and I was stuck downstairs in the Lobby knowing he was right above me! ha ha But he is a really amazing kid! No lies I meet some of these famous people and am so let down that I don’t even get phased by most famous people in the industry. But he definitely proved to me there are some gems in the music industry! Made me really happy! Then he was in and out all night and he just smiled and waved at me. I am surprised I didn’t do any damage to him! In all honesty I felt like a monster next to him! That was my night at work and Angel came and hung out with me so that helped because it was a really slow show.

After the concert we went to my friend’s friends birthday. ha ha It was a whole lot of fun too! I just want everyone to know. I love my job. I love my life. I love my friends. and I am having a blast!

Sent the souncloud of the longer version to my sister and got a text this morning asking me where she could get the album. Said it was beautiful and had all her favorite songs on it. Her husband wanted it to listen to while they drive to Phoenix this weekend for his fathers funeral. I had to give them the sad news that it wasn’t available until the 7th. I’m glad they are excited about it and can see the beauty in his vocals. He is a master!

Betsy, you motivated me, had my sister (who loved him on AI but didn’t follow him after) listen to the snippets yesterday:
30 sec in – “oooh, that voice. It’s so pure, so, so thick”
end of the first snippet – “why did it stop”
after several more – “you don’t want them to end”
after “Broken” – “how does he do that with his voice”
after hearing them all – “I’m getting this, when is it out”
