David Archuleta ~ Links § Ties That Bind ~ Best Fans for Life

Posted by SandyBeaches on Wednesday, May 30, 2012

“I would love a bracelet! Or should I say a “link” of the chain of support for an amazing young man, one that ties us together, until we meet again and forevermore.” ~ djbell13

An online letter to Kari…

Dear Kari,

I have sent to you, Jasmine and Eula, our two bracelets that have recently been distributed by our site, The Voice. We have mailed out bracelets from Hawaii all the way east to Newfoundland in Canada and on to Manila, Singapore and Australia. We are gifting the bracelets north from Toronto and some south to Argentina, Chile, Columbia and Peru. Some have been requested and some have been gifted. The two bracelets each convey their own message to David.

Perhaps the history of the bracelets is interesting in the fact that the idea was created to give to David our support as he journeys along his career path. Upon notification that David would be a guest singer at the Constitution Fair in Arizona last September, several of us at the fansite, The Voice, brainstormed about ways to send the message to him that his fans are here and anxious to see and hear him sing. We arranged special seating for fans approved by David and his team, which created a fund-raising opportunity for the event. We compiled for him letters and cards from around the world from people who wanted to tell David how very much they enjoyed and appreciated his music. We filled a large travel bag to capacity with gifts from fans for that night and it was then that we passed out the first bracelets to the fans ~ David Archuleta ~ “Nobody Sings It Better.” The response to the bracelets was inspiring.

Four years have passed since many of us first met David. During this time you could see fans of all ages waiting in lines for concerts, sitting together in the hot sun, dancing to Zero Gravity in the mosh pits and listening reverently at the Conference Hall in Salt Lake City on a special Sunday morning in December. Age has had no barriers.

As David has worked diligently on his career path, his fans have also put forth their talents and means of communications to come together as a strong unit. Gatherings of fans from several of the sites in the United States began to take place as far back in time as his Christmas From the Heart tour. The site, Fans of David held the first large gathering that took place in Salt Lake City, by hosting a Christmas brunch. Richard Parkinson played the piano and sang, much to the delight of everyone there that day.

From that time on, fan sites organized gatherings to be held during the tours both on the east coast, the west coast and everywhere in between. Long before the incredible four days of the Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts, fan sites began to set new plans into motion. The SnowAngelz was the first site to host, reserving a restaurant for an early brunch. The Voice filled a Thai restaurant for lunch. This event was followed by a number of fan sites taking their turn and filling restaurants to their capacities. During all of these times, the administrators, the writers and the fans of the sites began to come together creating as a result, a strong fan base throughout North America.

But I would not want to forget to mention the important work of the fundraisers and the fans who have contributed to several of the charities that David supports. Among the many charities, we have helped to create a sidewalk in India and some have now become supporters of Child Fund International.

Now for the second bracelet that is written in Spanish. The quote on the bracelets was taken from the song “Contigo En La Distancia”, sung by David at the Alma Awards, 2009, and says, “Te Has Convertido En Parte De Mi Alma”___You Have Become A Part Of My Soul.

So this is just a chapter from a story to be continued. As fans in North America reach out to each other and the world, we look forward to the time when David returns home.

Wishing you all the best,

Lynne/SandyBeaches

“I am sharing a photo that shows several of us wearing bracelets at the LA Nokia VIP MKOC (which was a poorly lit room so the photo didn’t turn out so well) & it was taken just as Djafan had passed them out to the rest of the eager VIP’ers. Gosh, the memories of MKOC were so wonderful weren’t they? It was my first VIP and I will certainly look forward to the next one wearing my lovely ‘bling’!” ~ Blueberry Ice

David Archuleta ~ Memorial Day

Posted by djafan on Monday, May 28, 2012

In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday. The United States celebrates this holiday the last Monday of May.

Memorial Day Meaning – Reagan’s Speech
President Ronald Reagan is credited with reviving the practice of honoring Memorial Day and its meaning. .

“Today is the day we put aside to remember fallen heroes and to pray that no heroes will ever have to die for us again. It’s a day of thanks for the valor of others, a day to remember the splendor of America and those of her children who rest in this cemetery and others. It’s a day to be with the family and remember.”

David Archuleta – My Country Tis Of Thee- America the Beautiful – Stadium of Fire 2011

A THOUGHT

Hi everybody, it’s David here. Right now we are currently in the Philippines shooting for the mini series I have been filming, Nandito Ako. I just thought I’d make a video about a thought, thoughts I have, while I’m gone.Of course I haven’t left yet, at this point. Just wondering about my mission and how things are going to go. It will be interesting being gone for two years. I am wondering what kind of people I am going to meet while I am gone.

I wonder about the people who I am close to, my family, my friends. How they will be. How they will grow on their own while I am gone away and not in contact or in touch with them anymore.

It’s kind of a neat thing to think about, too. It’s a scary thought that I won’t have my family and friends there or the people that I am used to growing up with, but that’s what’s exciting too. I will be growing in my own way, in a way I wouldn’t ever get to normally, because I wouldn’t ever separate myself from everything I am comfortable with.

So it’s always challenging , but I think its those challenges that we look forward to and that’s how we grow, right? I am looking forward to that challenge. I am worried about it because I do worry about my family, people I care about. Even the fans, you know? I wonder how everyone is going to continue with life as I am not a normal part of it anymore.I can’t wait to bring back the person I have become, while I have that time away.

So that’s my thought for now, inside David’s head, before he is gone. A thought to put to you guys while I am gone. And I will say more later!

David Archuleta ~ Chords of Strength for Rising Star Outreach

Posted by voiceadmin on Wednesday, May 23, 2012

SINGING SENSATION AND AMERICAN IDOL FAVORITE,

DAVID ARCHULETA

TELLS HIS INSPIRING PERSONAL STORY

How many of you remember those words….the first words you probably read on the inside of the jacket of David’s N.Y. Times Bestseller… “CHORDS OF STRENGTH”?

As we opened to the introduction, we saw David’s first heartfelt words:

“I have no idea why I’m doing this, but I know I need to be doing it for some reason.” David Archuleta

The reason to me was loud and clear. No other person has ever inspired me the way David has. I have been around many years now, and have not ever felt the power of another person …as I have felt with David. His heart is full of wisdom, honesty and purity. To share his thoughts, experiences and dreams with fans and others…in a book…. was a beautiful gift. It felt as if he were chatting with us…. anywhere in our WORLD. The readers were treated to his strength of character  and inner spirit. We could even feel the warmth of his smile and see his glow as we turned the pages….even the ones without pictures.

The picture he painted for us…was real. David is real….and that is what we love about him. He definitely left a “heartprint” with us in this book….as he has done with every song he sings and how we watch him live his life.

His wonderful personality captured our attention …and we didn’t want to finish the book and have it all over.

Are you ready to read Chords of Strength for a second, third or maybe even fourth time? How about giving his great book to family and friends who are graduating from high school or college this year? It is a special book to give to people of all ages…for any reason…or just because it feels so good to introduce David to others. Let’s all create more buzz for David during this special time of Chords of Strength’s 2nd anniversary. I am sure there are many of David’s new followers who are not aware that he has written a book. Now is a great time to let them know.

To celebrate the anniversary of David’s bestseller, which is June 1st, one of David’s fans has created a special book pillow to put up for auction. Another fan has generously donated an autographed copy of Chords of Strength. The two of them will be auctioned together for two weeks prior to June 1st. The proceeds of this book pillow and book will be given to Rising Star Outreach (RSO).  http://www.risingstaroutreach.org/

David and his mother spent some time at this school in India during Jan. of 2011. They were there to help celebrate World Leprosy Day. They walked the Pathway of Hope that was built in part from bricks donated by many many fans.  They spent time with the children in the school, as well as helped the people who have been afflicted with leprosy. Many of David’s fans have continued to support RSO with sponsorships, bricks and other donations for their new school. This is one of the organizations that has been dear to David’s heart. They still need our help…so we are hoping that fans will help contribute with this auction…. keeping David’s caring spirit active while he is away.  Please pass the word around to others via twitter and help us help others.

You will not only be giving to others….you will have a chance to receive a one of a kind special remembrance to celebrate David’s NY Times bestseller….  “Chords of Strength”.

Being David Archuleta

Posted by djafan on Monday, May 21, 2012

by Karlox

I’m left thinking that David will do what David will do. He can come across as submissive and meek, but always he seems to act very deliberately. Like when a DJ asks him a perverse question, and he replies, Huh? causing the DJ to drop the question or when David doesn’t know what to say and he turns the question back to the one who asked it by inquiring, Well, what would YOU do? David is smart and tactful.  It’s obvious that a faith life is a priority to David. Regardless of any pressure to do or not do a mission, David is a fine young man who can stand on his own two feet. Even though he appears to be searching to learn more about himself and to find out who he really is, I think that who he really is, is carved deeply into his being. Things happened so quickly for David, he didn’t have time to mull them over as he appears apt to do. Perhaps that has caused him to need some time out so that he can do things in his time and in his way. I’m certain that whatever he decides will be a blessing to others. I don’t know one single fan of David that doesn’t respect David and his decisions. We may feel down when we equate success with being in the limelight, because truly David deserves to be in the limelight across the globe and right here in the USA. Nonetheless, we all know David doesn’t equate success with being in the limelight so ultimately, if David is content, we’re content. David has reminded us about the other side of down. Despite how we might come across, we all know this. For someone to spend money to go to his concerts as often as they are able, shouldn’t be judged. If David were a flirty type of guy, perhaps one could be considered a stalker. But no, David represents all that is beautiful, good and true about life. It’s for this reason that fans want to see him often and get to know him better. A person who follows David IS in their right mind, a very sound mind. If the person wants David to remember their name, I think that’s great. David comes across as someone you could be on a first name basis with; he feels like a good friend. He’s the kind of person I’d like to have as a friend. I don’t know a whole lot about being a Mormon, however, I get the impression that going on a mission is very important to people of that faith. This facet of the Mormon faith should certainly be respected, nonetheless, fans still have a right to their opinions and ideas. It doesn’t mean they’re selfish or won’t support David’s decisions. Fans are merely expressing what they feel is best for David. No one here intends to claim to know what that ultimately is or to dictate that to David. No, we’re not the producer who tells David, Hey David, dress, act, walk and talk this or that way and it’ll put you in the limelight. We know our opinions and ideas for him are just that, and not a road map for what he must do or we’ll drop him. David has asked us to stand by him, and we will, come what may. David being David works just fine. God has graced David with many beautiful blessings. We fans just want to bask in some of those blessings that are so bounteous that you just got to know, they’re meant to be shared.

Peace and prayers to all!!!

Cherishing Our Moms ~ Child of Our Hearts

Posted by MT on Sunday, May 13, 2012

For Betsy, who said she would be sad when the thread changed and the top pic was gone~Angelica

What is a mother? A mother is someone who loves and cares for us and helps us in so many ways. On this special day, I hope you won’t mind if I talk just a little bit about my own mother. Some of the things my mom did were typical, the things that all mothers do, like making sure I was fed, rocking me to sleep as a baby, singing to me and comforting me when I was sick. Some were not so typical.

My mom loved to sew and made all of my clothes until the time I started school. I wouldn’t wear anything but dresses (I hated shorts and pants.) I still remember all those little dresses she made, always made with lots of lace and ruffles. I still have some of them. She would also sew costumes for me when I told her that I had decided to dance or sing in my elementary school talent contest year after year. I was terrible about giving her much warning. But even if I only told her the day before, she would stay up all night to sew something special for me to wear. She was always there for me. Caring. Loving. Always wanting her child to be happy. (Love you, Mom. ♥)

Once I started wearing pants, I also started climbing trees (haha, straight from prissy little girl to tomboy in one fell swoop.) so she went from stitching clothes to patching up skinned knees. It must have been a chore for her to keep up with the changes in her little girl over the years, but somehow she never got left behind.

Mothering is caring, keeping an eye on our children, worrying about their health and their future, worrying about their needs. There are many different kinds of mothers. Some of us gave birth, some adopted, some are raising grandchildren or nieces or nephews. But those who raise children that they didn’t give birth to are no less of a mother than those that do.

And every once in a while, there is the child of our heart. We didn’t give birth, weren’t there to comfort them when they were sick or patch up that skinned knee, but we love and care about them anyway. David falls into this category for me.

Like many of you, David has become a child of my heart. He doesn’t know me, but that hasn’t stopped me from taking him into my heart. I keep watch to see what’s happening in his life. When I hear of his problems, my heart aches for him because I know there’s nothing I can do to help. I worry about him, miss him when he’s gone, say a prayer for him when needed, and always want the best for him. Like my own child, he makes me smile, and laugh, and hope for good things in his future.

So David, from someone who feels almost like another mother to you at times, I send you my love and my thoughts on this Mother’s Day. Though you are a world away, you are still in our hearts. Take care of yourself. We’ll be worrying about you.

And to all the folks here at The Voice … I hope you have a beautiful Mother’s Day. I know that some here have lost their mothers. My heart goes out to you and I hope you can remember all the loving and caring she gave and remember the laughter without tears.

For those of you whose mothers are still here, I hope you have a wonderful day filled with love and laughter. Be sure to hold her close and tell her you love her.

To all of you here at The Voice and around the world, (can’t say it too many times . ♥)

Words With David Archuleta

Posted by bebereader on Sunday, May 6, 2012

Would you like to play a word game with David as the subject? Participation is not mandatory; it’s all in fun. The goal is to keep the game going until David comes back from his mission in 2014.

Instructions:

The first poster posts a word about David, starting with the letter A. It can be anything from a food he likes to the name of one of his siblings to an adjective used to describe him, to the name of one of his songs to the name of one of his band members to…well, you get the idea.

The second poster uses letter B and so on. When we get to Z we just start over again.

Please continue posting regular comments as always; the game answer is to be posted right beneath your comment, like a trailer.

When we put the next article up, the game can continue beneath each comment, for those who wish to continue playing.

I’ll give you an example starting with the letter A. No wait, I’ll do A and B. The next poster  can do C. The next, D, etc.  It’s okay if more than one person takes a turn for the same letter.

A – Archuleta (hard one, eh? LOL)

B – Balut

Remember, C is next!

Have fun!
