I just awoke in the predawn that has a perfect stillness and is so dark, but spring birds are singing outside my open window. The tiny little birds seem to be ruling the universe for the moment. Their songs are beautiful and barely heard unless there is this quiet. They seem to be doing their best to remind us that in every morning there is a new start, a new beginning.
But the early morning has me wondering David, so tell me, what were you thinking about when you came into my life like the moon and the stars because once I met you, then you were always there. Perhaps you did not know that you would be there for me but when faced with trials in life that required so much strength and courage, you are there. I did not look for that from you, but it has so amazingly happened. But then again it was me who invited you in.
Your music is in my mind and in my heart and spirit. I listen to ‘Tell Me” and somehow the thoughts of you leaving that come from the song become so obviously clear to me now.

The quote on the bracelets was taken from the song “Contigo En La Distancia”, sung by David at the Alma Awards, 2009.
“Te Has Convertido En Parte De Mi Alma”___You Have Become A Part Of My Soul.
Perhaps coincidentally, the song that David sang a few years ago, ‘Contigo En La Distancia’, is now a declaration for us to believe in, that the distance that is growing will not keep us all apart.

Don’t miss the little speaker right under the airplane, his voice is beautiful with the “Tell Me” lyrics of the entire song that our head writer included in the two pictures. I have listened several times since late last night and reading the words as he sings brings a pleasure all of its own…

I want so strongly to hear David sing ‘The Spirit of God’. I just can’t even imagine what he does to that hymn. With the spirit that he carries with him all the time, I can believe that there wasn’t a dry eye in the congregation Sunday night.

OMGosh, SB, what a great article!! Tell Me has been my favorite ever since I listened to the whole album with the words. So yes, reading the words sure makes a lot of difference. I love all the songs, but Tell Me just squeezes my heart.<3 Oh to hear him singing it live!

Thanks to Heidijoy for helping with the bracelets here in the US. It didn't take long to give the others away at Abravenal Hall before the concert. It was neat to see the expressions on fans faces when Heidijoy said they were free! Of course they wanted one!!

Oh Tawna, of all the hymns that is the one I would choose to hear David sing. Would surely lose my composure completely.
Remembering giving the bracelets at Abravenal brought back great memories of a perfect time with David and his friends Heidi, Carol, Jan, Tawna, Jeani…..so many terrific people.
This morning I watched The Voice Unplugged with David in Viet Nam. I thought, “Yeah, I can do this for two years.” David has left us with our glasses more than half full. Life is good knowing David is
doing what he wants to be doing and we have each other and all the material that David has left for us.

Add me to the list of those whose favorite song on the new cd is “Tell Me”. You can’t miss the cry in David’s voice in this song. It reminds me of the way he used his voice in “Love Me Tender” on AI. The cry, combined with the haunting melody and the violins and piano…well, the song just calls my name night and day. That voice was meant to sing love songs.

Oh Nanaweize, when I click on the speaker under the airplane and read the words that is really nice. But while I am doing all of that and looking at David’s picture and visualizing him singing that at a concert then wow, it will be nice someday! The airplane and the verse and him singing, well that does bring on the teary eyes and I was wondering if I was the only one on that! You gave me the answer.

The thought of wanting the bracelet came to me when I knew that spring was getting closer and even though I was not in love with the idea, I would be working in the flower garden soon with the soil and flats of flowers and possibly pesky insects making me wish that we still had snow. On top of all of that, David would be going away. So I thought that it would be a good “feeling” to have something special related to him on us wherever and whenever it would be appreciated. So, the next bracelet was planned.
The grey represents the color of his sports jacket (actually it turns out to be the elbow patches!) that he is wearing in my favorite Matt Clayton picture of David. The white is for his dress shirt. So it turns out to be symbolic also in the sense that the picture will be most likely included with his fall album and we can look forward to that.
The quote from the lyrics from Contigo en la Distancia was written and composed by César Portillo de la Luz way back in 1946. Luz, a singer and guitar player from Havana, Cuba, in the 1940s helped to start a new musical genre known as “feeling.” When they listened to the new jazz musicians of the day, they would say, “What feeling!” Sensitivity overpowered the technicalities of the music. We are well acquainted with and appreciate the sensitivity in David’s singing. Maybe it is that sensitivity that has worked a spell on us and the same sensitivity that is not easily understood in the general music industry of today. Oh what they are missing.
So looking ahead and better yet, I believe that in the future, not that far from 2 years from now we may very well have a Spanish album or Spanish and English. David’s involvement with his musical Latino heritage will surely be enriched and the outcome will once again completely amaze us.

Hey, an unplanned trip to Provo, why not?! I just have to wait till school is out, because it is right next to BYU. Thank you for the link to ‘The Spirit of God’. I would imagine that he sang it in English at the fireside on Sunday. It’s interesting that Elder Ballard was the speaker that night, because he was also at David’s missionary farewell. Elder Ballard is a member of the Twelve Apostles of the Church.

EXCLUSIVE: David Archuleta and Kurt Bestor team up for new CD

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – David Archuleta made his television debut on ABC 4’s “Good Things Utah.”
He then went on to compete on “American Idol” where he finished 2nd.
Now, ABC 4 has some big news for fans of the young singer.
Even though he’s begun his LDS mission, we’ve learned he’s cut a new album with a very well known musical producer.
The producer’s name is Kurt Bestor, another beloved Utah artist.
Bestor told ABC 4 that he’s been busy co-producing Archuleta’s newest album,
“We were frantic to get it all done before he went on his LDS mission.”
Archuleta is believed to have been assigned to a South American mission in Chile.
But Bestor says the two worked together right up until the night before Archuleta left,
“I have to say I was a little hesitant to do it, but now that I have had a chance to work with him for that intense three weeks, the kid’s amazing.
Bestor says the result will be an 11 song CD to be released in June or July.
Bestor, a Grammy nominated musician says it will contain amazing songs, ones that people will know and love,
“The kid is really kind of a phenom and I don’t think people really realize it.”
And while Bestor may not have meant to, he did let one the name of one Archuleta song slip out,
“I just did a version of “Bridge Over Troubled Water…Oops! That’s on the new album, David Archuleta. Nobody knows that.”

Okay, so I failed at my quest this afternoon. It was a “Holy Bad Idea, Batman”, “so-who’s-idea-was-this?”, adventure. It was graduation day at BYU!!!! arrrrhhhgggg!! On a 15 mile round-trip ride, I listened to “Forevermore” thru 1-1/2 times, waited at stop lights thru 3 changes at some of them, waded thru a 3-car pile up, and spent an hour and 2 minutes in my car, melting. For some reason I put on a fleece jacket when I left, and couldn’t get it off while I was driving, so I got really warm when the sun started warming up the inside of my car. Soooooo, I couldn’t get close enough to the MTC to figure out where the picture in #1 may have been taken. Maybe I’ll try again this weekend after all the dads, moms, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, AND the graduates, have left the campus. At least, somehow, I was smart enough to get into the correct lane so I didn’t need to make any lane changes. Whew!
Think I’ll take the rest of the night off. 🙂

So I went looking and discovered that everyone has covered this song. I listened to Elvis’s version (GORGEOUS and I am not an Elvis fan. His voice -)
Listened to Annie Lennox – she is incredible. (the sport relief one) Aretha – she was feeling it. 🙂 Roberta Flack – quiet and so pretty.
Then I ran across one by of all people, Willie Nelson. This surprised me. That it brought me to tears. Just Willie and his guitar and his imperfect voice that is so perfect for this.

Today I toured a new Morman Temple here in KC that will be dedicated on May 6th. It was very nice and interesting. Each Temple has it’s own theme and this one is the Olive Leaf. So you see it in all the construction, furniture, windows and decorations. A local artist done the mural, so it depicted Kansas and Missouri landscapes. Very pretty.

My David dream.
I dreamed I was at a school event like a play. I didn’t have a ticket , but I managed to to get to the front row and knelt on the floor for a good view. When it was over, the curtain parted one last time. It was a tall stage like the one on Idol. As the curtain parted, David walked out slowly ( ha! even in my dreams he is in slow motion) to thunderous applause. He was making a visit in town and wanted to see the play, but also agreed to accept some kind of award. When he reached center stage he began to sing. He was older and had 5 o’clock shadow. He wore a suit with an open collar shirt, with the cuffs of his shirt folded back over the sleeve of his jacket. I was up on my knees trying so hard to take a picture, but my camera was refusing to flash or focus. When the song was over, Lupe was announced from the audience. She was in the 2nd row behind me. David stayed after the show and met with fans. I was watching from afar as he was swarmed by fans who had each brought him a stuffed animal as a gift. He was smiling and thanking them.
Later there was an interview by a music critic. I recall that David was talking about his new CD and answering questions. I could see his arms. He was being asked about his “bling”. His arms were tanned and had a mature, hairy look. He pushed up his shirt sleeves to reveal on each wrist a beautiful bracelet. A silver chain on one wrist and a gold band bracelet on the other. He said they were gifts from Sony in appreciation for his record sales.
And then I woke up. 🙂

In a restauran last night I said to my husband that yes life requires a little adjusting right now. If you can imagine at least 200 special friends (I exaggerate some) walking into this restaurant and you know them by sight or by strange names or by the many conversations you have had with them. Then to top it off you have things in common with all of them including music, musicians, likes and dislikes. We all know about Christmas 12 months of the year, we all know of Lupe, we all know about the Phillipines and Tagalog. Also we know what ninjas are, what the 28 th of December means to us. We all know about what Meets & Greets are and book signings. We share early mornings and late nights. The list is endless ! Oh I almost forgot we share knowing about lengthy droughts and prayers going out for natural disasters and illnesses. It is only us who knows about shiny church pants, vocal rests and why they are occurring! There are special sharpies and lip glosses! There is the last but most awesome encore and snow falling in the casino.
There, these are just a few things that we have in common and how great they all are! Hey we even all know about Contigo En La Distancia….and the list continues..

Also, your comment in #65 really made me laugh! How true – we all have this common David-language/David-knowledge and I for one have learned so much since the early Idol days when I had not idea about youtube, fansites, etc. Now if only I could someday meet more people in person, that would be fun. I do have my Northern Calif. concert buddies to take me through the drought! (any excuse to meet for lunch or breakfast in San Francisco or somewhere)

SB, I think TV5 has been planning to expand since it was re-incorporated from the old ABC network. Newscorp has been putting a lot of money into pushing FoxTVAsia into more Asian countries in the past few years, and I have wondered if TV5 isn’t trying to become competitive internationally with them as well. Manuel Pangilinan (TV5) seems to be positioning himself as something of a media mogul like Rupert Murdoch. I wouldn’t be surprised if TV5 already had plans for the US, and all the international attention they received because of David jumpstarted their plans. I am only guessing about TV5 but I do flip through Newcorp’s annual report. It’s been interesting to see how American Idol has been losing its position as “cash cow” for the company since Season 7–hmmmm. JR would probably know a lot more about TV5–maybe she will share!

He is just GOOD. That is the word for him. And he is very excited to be here and loves his trainer and has already taught some lessons in his first sector”. Pretty cool. Out of respect for Elder Archuleta I wouldn’t want to get more specific than that on his experiences. I must say, that if WordPress doesn’t stop giving me issues, I’m gonna be on meds….dang it’s been a mess for the last 2 or 3 days.
Anyway, an update– my hubby drove me thru the graduation traffic today to check out the MTC surroundings. We drove in front of, behind, around and around, up and down, and there is nothing that resembles the scenery in pic #1 over there. The trees are not the same, and there is nothing red brick around there. With Chile being located below the Equator, they are heading into the Fall season, so the leaves are turning red and falling from the trees like the pic of the temple. Heck, I don’t know, and I don’t know that it really matters.

Hi all, sense we are talking about dreams, I had one for the first time relating to David last night. It was kinda goofy as most dreams are. the part that was David related was about his music. As I remembered it went like this: Was at a house I had lived in before I’m in now, I was walking out the door and a neighbor was having a “front” yard party and they were playing David’s music from his new Forevermore cd. I was so thrilled and went over to say that I was a huge David Archuleta fan, but no one knew what I was talking about, goofy, right. Then, I just turned away and started walking back to my house and notice that a COW was inside just chilling, hahahahahaha!!! I don’t know about the cow connection, but about David’s music and the neighbors, it might be a fear that people will forget David. Would anybody care to interpret,lol.

About the David dreams – I’ve had 4 in 3 months. It’s not surprising that he’s included in our dreams given the amount of time we listen to him.
I’ll tell a bit about the last one.
I was staying at the home of a friend. (concert buddy) David was there as well. (I don’t know why) All three of us stayed up all night talking. He seemed anxious but very chatty. He wanted to talk about life and finding happiness. We all went to bed very early in the morning, about 5 a.m. Her house was huge with about 10 bedrooms and several wings. (and leather chairs with tape across them ,Idk why ) When we woke up only an hour or so later, he was gone. We looked everywhere. Finally her two teenage daughters admitted that he asked to borrow the car, said he needed to get away, he needed a break. They gave him the keys. They were happy to help him.
Then I woke up.

Wow, very strange that I also had a David dream.I never remember my dreams, so this was unusual.
So, I am in some back room of a cathedral or old building and David and I are on a scavenger hunt of some kind.Not a fun one,but something serious. We have to find …something. We have a clue – a piece of paper with all sorts of formulas on it. I can’t get the math right, so I give it to David… “Here, you haveto figure this out. I can’t seem to get the math right.” “Okay, I can do it” he says. Then he sits on a bench and starts working out the clues in great detail, great concentration. “Got it!” He hands me the paper and we start off down some long hall. It’s dark and kind of mossy, water dripping, etc. We can see a light at the end (How cliche – are dreams really this cliche?) We start to run….. I wake up.
It was weird because it was like we knew each other. He wasn’t “Celebrity David” he was just my friend David. I was still my same age and he was his, but we were pals LOL

Abrra, Cq, Betsy, Marlie; Sweet dreams for sure! Nothing exciting like that to share but the mundane. I'm enjoying blasting Forevermore whenever I can and made a trip to get groceries. Dangerous to have echoes of that lovely voice while shopping. Bought green grapes from 'Chile', then saw avocados for guacamole only to be sideswiped by the lovely 'tomatoes on the vine' perfect for making salsa (w/ chips of course) but bypassed the wheatgrass (sorry David, a little too green for me but maybe I'll try it next time), then needed cereal for the kids and of course had to get a box of Kashi for me … can't help myself, lol!
And to think there is another gift from the 'phenom' to come … just feeling so thankful, loved & spoiled … he is just too good to us! ♥♥♥

But for me, it is also one more thing, I Love the Lyrics. It sooo took me back to my high school break up. Such pain, such self blame. But where it is wonderful,,, is the last line; “But if this love’s not ours to have, I’ll let it go with your good bye.” I wish I had had this song. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t love just because you “let it go.” This song is heartbreaking, but oh so wise. David could have written this song.

Poof, I loved your comment. “Tell Me” is a simple love song and it’s so much more. It offers acceptance for a love that can never be. I can see how it could have helped us back then or any time. The lyrics are awesome and combined with David’s voice and phrasing, this song is irresistible to me. He really gave all he had for this album; he’s so generous and good to us.

The song by Aaron Paul for David’s fans is a huge gift and recognition that his diehard fans are not fairweather friends only. That was a lovely surprise and to have the song dedicated to his fans is wonderful. Aaron Paul tried to get Nandito Ako recorded in English which would bring more recognition to the song and that would be sweet for him and for David. Everything has a possibility.

On Sunday night, Ryan Seacrest oversaw a 25th Anniversary special on Fox that featured some of the best moments in the history of the network. With this in mind, it certainly should not come as much of a surprise that “American Idol” received a little bit of love.
From original “Idol” Kelly Clarkson up to the most recent champion in Scotty McCreery, the special took just about as panormic a look as it could at every season of the show, as well as some of the most exciting moments from the past decade. Fantasia’s cover of “Summertime” was featured, as was David Archuleta singing “Imagine” and Adam Lambert performing with KISS.
When “Idol” first premiered on Fox over a decade ago, it completely managed to completely revolutionize talent shows on TV, and has sense seen over a million contestants audition (and millions upon millions more vote for their favorites).
As for this current season, the remaining six contestants are going to perform covers of Queen classics Wednesday night on Fox.
