(Caveat: I am using this statement merely as an example on its own, with no reference to or implication concerning the words that may have prompted it. ^_^)
Dear DA, Welcome to stardom:
You have to deal with people who care about you in varying degrees wondering who you are, discussing your motives, your dreams, your decisions, your future. Now you have cute Josh Bradley to cope with! THAT is a testimony to your talent. When we see you as Josh (or Josh as you?), you know that you have done a good job, that you succeeded in your effort to communicate Josh Bradley to us and bring the story alive. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. I agree with Holly: You are amazing. (She got to say it for all of us. ^_^)
About the downside: well….. I guess it is no different from family: I worry, guess, suppose and project with those I love. And it doesn’t change a thing. They just go ahead and live their lives without checking with me first to see how much better my ideas are. How grateful I am for that!
As for you (and Josh… and all the DA’s I may have concocted in my own brain…) I think you were born with and have continued to develop a great sense of self, which only you can define. I am even more grateful for this! It means I will continue to be surprised with you just as I am with my own family. You just have a really big family to contend with. Thank you for loving us and letting us love you – no matter how imperfectly.
And I will say that I am more impressed each day with your efforts and also those of many of the other actors involved. For me, it would seem a bit like doing a movie voice-over (like Lion King) to have to respond and interact with a language not your own. Thank you so much for taking this on and trying your wings. May you find them ever lifted by the strength of the power that holds you up and carries you onward.

Amen to this statement. I find it interesting that the ones who seem to have it all figured out what DA must do to be “successful” fail to realize that he is as successful as he wants to be. The One who guides him has a plan for him. DA is doing a great job of following His plan. He realized over a year ago that he can’t move forward until he listens to his heart.

When I first starting following David (since American Idol), I had the hope that he would someday gain Superstar status. As I became more familiar with David, his personality, and goals, I changed my mind. I feel that David’s goal has always been to connect with and uplift people through his musical gift. When an artist reaches superstar status, they actually are less able to connect one on one and often become more isolated. I would be heartbroken to see David in that type of situation. On a selfish basis, I would prefer seeing David perform in a small or mid-size venue rather than a huge place where he is visible only on the mega screen. David seems to enjoy the smaller, more intimate venues, too. I agree with you, Abrra, that David is doing a great job in following the plan of the One who guides him.

Spirit, I too wanted him to reach superstardum. I’m understanding that he might never reach that, (maybe because of his own choosing) just hope that he will have a healthy enough career that he doesn’t have to be a struggling artist. By the way, David is such a unique soul, that if he did reached super star status, he would finded a way to always connect with this fans, IMO. David is THAT SPECIAL and UNIQUE in my eyes.

Bluesky I love what you said…I’ve never second guessed any decision David has made…I am no expert on anything when it comes to his career. I think we’ve all seen how smart David is. I never wanted David to reach the JB superstardom, because that doesn’t last. I want him to be well respected by people as the true artist that he is. I don’t believe he’ll ever be a “struggling artist”. You just can’t deny his talent. I think he’ll come back in two years ready to wow whoever will listen!

Today’s episode, so much good stuff! The scene where he can’t sleep, lol, the beating with the broom (love the look on his face when Anya’s mom drinks the water he just poured), the hurt on his face when he overhears Anya and her brother, the water scene. Oh, and I almost forgot ;), the dream scene….holy cow David! Dja said it best, “foksjdfio3eqnfcowinvoewinrfoawenfowehro;iwNFEO;NFo;whoifdnoi3ere0ow;inv oWEU;RHOE”…..phew! I don’t know how Anya OR Jasmine stayed on their feet, aye yie yie, yie yie!
And he just keeps getting better and better. Just imagining with more experience how good he really could be!

Cq – I agree with the wish to see David have a healthy (and lifelong) career. He is indeed unique – so well grounded and always true to his convictions, and don’t think that superstardom would affect him in the negative way it has for some. He does an amazing job of staying in touch with his fans, and this does seem to be a priority for him. As many have pointed out, he really spoils us!! I guess my wish for him is to find fullfillment in whatever path he chooses. I want him to always have that glow! My wish for all of us is to always be able to have his music and beautiful spirit in our lives.

What I kinda feel is if he had that superstar status, as a fan, that agony of alway worrying about music making enough money to keep his career going, would never come to mind. I am a diehard fan and I will take David at any level of success, but it would be less gut rinching if he was a superstar, lol.

I’ve been reading the Chords of Strength again this weekend have made it through the Idol journey and through the making of Crush. David is so wise and has so much strength to have accomplished all that he has. I’m quite proud of him.Y
He is always surprising me with the depth and stamina he has in whatever he takes on.
I’m enjoying the Mini Series and think David has grown so much through this experience.
Some of the funniest scenes to me have been Yaya’s and Teresa’s reaction to Josh!! I love it.
I’m loving Anya and Josh’s backstory and “relationship”. Nice to have all this activity for now. Loving it!!

Okay, so here’s my story of the day ….and I’m stickin’ to it!
My daughter called this morning. “Mom, guess who I ran into in the post office this morning?” I don’t play that guessing game so I said “I don’t have a clue. Who?” She calmly states, “David”. I could feel her smile coming thru the wireless towers between me and her little tiny town in the southeast corner of Utah. I’m not kidding tiny–less than 2000 population, one stop light, and one speed limit sign. She said he was in church clothes and told someone there he had been to the temple. She said, “Hi, how are you?” and he smiled his big ol’ smile and said “Hey”! We all know the ‘smile and hey’ drill. Anyway, she didn’t get to talk to him anymore coz someone else was, but she was pretty excited. Me? Jealous!!!!
Back to watching NA, which is getting very interesting. The plot is thickening!

41 Aw Tawna, Nice to hear!! How nice for your daughter. David is preparing for his mission by visiting the Temples in the area. I’m so glad he has had this month at home with family and friends . It seems he has been spotted quite a bit having visited Temples and nearby restaurants. Nice he can get the support from the various communities that understand him. …and of course those of us around the world who are feeling close even though we are far away. These little spottings are so nice to hear about as he is invariably smiling and visiting with those that approach him.

I think what is making me feel close to David out here in Iowa in addition to keeping track of every step, is that I’m reading Chords of Strength again. Now reading it through a different lense in a way is impressing me more than ever, how special David is and how much I can still learn and relearn from him and so many of his fans. wow that was a long sentence.
I’m so glad David wrote this book!! He’s been telling us all along who he is and what’s important to him.

I’m loving Nandito Ako. David is really workin’ “the smolder”! I love the fiesty, sparks-a-flyin chemistry between David and Anya, but I have to admit…if she doesn’t stop yelling at him soon, I’m going to go let Holly out of her room!! The poor guy can’t catch a break, or even say sorry without being told off and ridiculed. I really like her spunk and her I-could-care-less approach to his celebrity status, and I know she’s probably covering up her own feelings to protect Holly…but please, I’m ready for Anya to show a bit of her softer more compassionate side!

And I agree. It’s time for Anya to cut the guy some slack. But I think we may just see that softer side coming out more and more, especially after Josh told her a little bit about his life today, and then she apoligized. I think (hope) maybe she’s beginning to see him as a “person” now rather than just a “celebrity”.

I love how David uses his eyes in Nandito Ako. They say so much without his uttering a word. I love all the bits with him on camera.
But I am getting tired of all the yelling, slapping and other physical abuse. I really wish that could stop. But I guess not, since we have yet to see David hit by an oar and a car! LOL.

Yeah!! I also am ready for the slapping to stop. Reminds me of old Little Rascals shows or the Laurel and Hardy or Abbot and Costello. It was a different view on all that then. The Phils must be at a place where that is more accepted. No worries… Josh and Anya and Holly will straighten them out… And I will bet Volta will have a few good ideas as well.
The series seems to focus on the futility of blaming others for a ruined life. ^_^

Thought she would the other day when he threatened Holly. That would be exciting and entertaining (lol). I don’t think Uncle Steve is a match for Sumo Mama. That woman is scary. Hate to see Holly abused though. Other than that, I’m loving this series. I still think it should end with a kiss. Just dreaming, I guess.

Anyone notice it? He has a droopy right eyelid. In some pix it looks like his right eye is smaller than his left. I think that’s the effect of a mild case of droopy eyelid or ptosis (according to wiki, haha). I ain’t no doc, just someone who has been obsessively looking at pictures and video. LOL.

David Archuleta Drops His 1st All-OPM Album!
Ivory Music & Video is proud to release David Archuleta’s last album before his intended 2-year break from the business to embark on an important spiritual mission.

David Archuleta’s “Forevermore” is a collection of all original Filipino classic love songs written in English and composed by some of the Philippines’ renowned songwriters like Ogie Alcasid, Louie Ocampo, Jay Durias, Jimmy Antiporda, Cecil Azarcon, among others. The collection showcases some of the best love songs, the country has produced. The songs will definitely invoke feelings of love and hope in every listener.
“I wouldn’t say that I sound better than the original singers because the singers here are so amazing. But I would hope that I could pay tribute to them with this album,” David said at the press conference for the album.
To show gratitude for David’s contribution to OPM, Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit president Ogie Alcasid handed David a plaque of appreciation for recording an OPM album.
As an added treat to David’s fans, the album will also include “Nandito Ako,” from the TV5 mini-series of the same
name.
The David Archuleta story began on Dec. 28, 1990, the day David was born to Jeff and Lupe Archuleta in North Miami, Florida. His father was a jazz musician who was always playing the trumpet around the house. His mother was a singer who performed locally with her three sisters in a group known as the Mayorga Sisters. David always enjoyed music, but wasn’t particularly fond of his dad’s jazz trumpet playing, covering his ears “because it was so loud.”
But then came one of those pivotal moments, when David was six years old and watched a videotape with his younger brother as his family was relocating from Florida to Utah. It was the 10th anniversary concert of the stage musical “Les Miserables” and David became captivated with the music, playing the tape over and over, memorizing each song, complete with cockney accents. Then he discovered and fell in love with other musicals like “Evita” and “Into the Woods.” He also listened to his mother’s Selena and Gloria Estefan albums, but he didn’t pay attention to radio much and wasn’t really aware of pop music, until he watched the first season of “American Idol.”
The rest, as they say, is history.

A ninja visit while David was in Philippines!
David Archuleta visited a Mormon facility in Bicol (which is, almost 6-8 hours away from Manila if traveled by land) last month! For obvious reasons, this activity was not reported in the media.

Dear Bluesky! Loved so much what you said as it reflects what I feel too! Some days I ask myself why David means so much to me and you hit it on the nail … “I guess it is no different from family: I worry, guess, suppose and project with those I love”. Thank you David for expanding your worldwide circle of family to include all us fans … it truly makes him that much more special and beloved by everyone.
I’ve been enjoying everyone’s comments with the biggest of smiles on my face and a grateful heart for David who brings such joy and blessings to us all!
Well, already been up and ready an hour early for an epic NA day! Guess the upcoming daylight savings time won’t deter me any, haha! Teasing & flirty Josh caused me to reminisce about that “bell’s ringing” moment back eons ago when I was dating my hubby & finally realizing that I was falling in love. Yes, that Mr. Archuleta can certainly act but gosh can you imagine when he truly falls in love! 😉

Great episode today! Alas, “yelling, chip-on-my-shoulder Anya” is back…but I do love angry, chivalrous Josh! You can’t deny their great chemistry…I just wish she’d spend a little less time judging and yelling at Josh. I imagine that after “the save”, she is going to tone things way down. I have to admit that I feel really sorry for poor Holly who is willing to do anything, risk anything for Josh, is so sweet to him, and believes in him so much… will probably end up empty handed in the end, while Anya who has been condescending, judgmental, resentful and only begrudgingly helpful will win him over. I realize she’s acting that way because she has feelings for him (and doesn’t want to betray Holly), and because of her difficult life…and I know it makes great drama, but I’m all for civility! But hey, it’s a soap opera for crying out loud, right?…oh, maybe that’s why I found myself up here on my soapbox!! Haha, when it comes to David (even if he’s playing Josh), it’s hard to see anyone mistreating him! And speaking of civility, can we please just lock Margaret up!

I totally understand your feelings about the way Anya treats Josh but I am still hoping the two children end up together. He said to her when she was holding onto him during the fire, “Don’t let go!” In the beginning episode they showed Josh talking at the concert about when you find someone you love, never let go.
Also, remember that Anya missed her dad so much as a child and suddenly she got him back only to lose him the same day. Then her mom told her there was no point in ever believing in “happy endings” because they don’t exist. She has basically grown up without hope and with a wall around her heart. Josh probably scares her to death because he is a threat to her belief in never letting herself be hurt and never believing that things are gonna get better. All she knows is a constant struggle to survive. Happiness is for others, not her. Her expression around him is deadpan and detached and when he approaches she lashes out. It’s out of fear though, which is a very powerful emotion.
I love both girls, btw. I think poor Holly needs a mother’s love more than anything else and Josh is a crush for her on a celebrity she has idolized.
JMHO and all are very welcome to their own. Anyway, am truly enjoying this romantic/comedy/drama.

Loving David’s quote today. Such depth to that young man. Just finished COS again and have read TheAlchemist. David’s journey is wonderful to experience and so proud of him for following his heart and including us as much as possible. He said he sang those songs for us. Such a sweetheart.

Angelica, I am actually totally with you and still cheering Anya and Josh on 100% and hoping they will be together in the end. I just get tired of the daily verbal beating he receives …even though I understand it. (I guess it stems from a bit of personal history in that area) I think they are truly meant to be together and I can’t wait for them to finally be on the same page (that will be a glorious moment)!…but we still have two weeks to fill, so I’m not holding my breath just yet! And even though I’m not pulling for Holly and Josh to end up together, I really feel for the poor girl and all that she has been through, and worry about the pain she will feel in addition to all the pain she bears if she loses the boy she loves and her best friend. I’m hoping for a happy ending for all! Haha…I make myself laugh even as I am writing this…I’m sitting here analyzing a foreign language soap opera?! Who would’ve “thunk”?! A day off of work gives this old brain a bit too much time to think!

David in today’s episode and the preview of the confrontation with evil uncle are beyond what I imagined his acting abilities would be.
I’m can’t wait to have Forevermore in my hands. I’ve listened to the majority of the originals, David and his voice are going to make you forget the original singers.
Betsy, one of my favorite songs and not an easy one to sing. David does it on the fly. He was heard singing Billy Jean during soundcheck through doors no recordings to date :(.

I’ve noticed David wearing a sleeveless undershirt under his shirts in different pictures I’ve seen, has anyone else? It’s real noticeable in the pics on posts # 117 and #118.. It’s not a big deal, just unusual in a hot climate…but that’s a David thing I guess. Under his dress shirt is normal, but not out on the beach. Just being “picky” I guess…:-)

Wow Wow Wow Todays’ episode he did so good!!! and the trailer for tomorrow looks to be another epic episode. He really has passed all my expectations by far. And he just keeps getting better.
Some highlights for me:
1.) Scooping up Anya like she’s light as a feather.
2.) Attitude, “Admit it, you’r falling for me.” HUH!
3.) Spitting out that Tagaolg sentence like he speaks it every day. (OMG I was so impressed!)
4.) Running back and decking that guy.
5. Defending mom in the trailer!
Betsy, Thanks for that video. He really is somehting else. Singing that song in the fly, while admitting he’s messing up the words, yet ends up doing a beautiful job and charming the pants off everyone in the room. Talent and charm that just doesn’t quit!
Angelica, I agree with your summation. And he’s breaking down those barriers a little at a time. But you just know she will eventually surrender to love. ♥

(Now, DA… I might be tempted to think that having realized that, you, I, we, have nothing else to learn and we may find you beamed to another sphere where you will be unreachable to mere mortals. But… since this life has decreed that we are all imperfect and still have much to learn, I expect you to stick around for QUITE a while longer. No nonsense now. Or I will sic Anya on you. She knows how to nail your feet down for sure.)

I wholeheartedly agree! His scenes with Jasmine are so good, probably partly because she is quite a good actress. She is intense when angry with Josh, which probably makes it easier for him to reflect back some of that intensity. I think he’s done an outstanding job for his first effort. I’m still hanging on to my hope that he clocks Steve a good one.

Then the fight…ooooh! He is even good at laying there bleeding! I just cannot get enough of this story.I almost missed it because WTBT was not extended over this morning.

I’m hoping David keeps his twitter acct open with a new password and Karin monitoring it . Lots of fans tweet each other and joined because of David and news. Definitely needs to be kept professional though so we are not dealing with hackers and rumors.

Sky, I’d heard, read, not sure where that’d he be keeping his twitter and OS up. Praying it’s true and I’m leaning to believe that it is. What he will be allowed to do doesn’t sound like what was initially thought. Most missionaries I’ve researched (nutty I know) do maintain blogs or have their families maintain them. So he actually may be able to tweet on occasion and blog to stay connected without taking away from his mission experience.

I have been watching the replays of today’s episode again. I marvel, at how quickly David has gotten into his role, but IMO today, he reached new heights in his scenes.
The trailer for next week looks so exciting!
I can definitely see the difference in this upcoming confrontation with Uncle Steve, and their confrontations, at the beginning of the series.I am so proud of what he accomplished with this… his first role ever! He is just awesome and I can’t wait till next week!

Jans, remember David has gone through the temple and we as Mormons,after we go to the temple for the first time, wear what we call temple garments under our clothes instead of regular tshirts and underwear. We are to wear them at all times except of course when we are swimming or bathing. I hope that answers your question, and yes, they are very hot to wear, especially in humid climates like the Phillipines. My husband served his mission there in the early 70’s and he said when he would get back to his apartment after a long day going door to door, he would be drenched clear through. But it is an act of obedience for us, and we do it because of that and other things. So it is definitely not a sleeveless t-shirt. Hope I haven’t offended anyone by telling this, but I just felt I should enlighten those who wondered.
Loving Nandito Ako, and I am in Angelica’s camp and totally agree and hope for it.
This album of David’s is going to be beyond glorious. I have listened to Forevermore almost nonstop since yesterday, with a few listens here and there to Nandito Ako and Wherever You Are in between. David’s voice is just so beautiful and soothing, it makes everything else in the world not matter sometimes. All the family drama tends to disappear for me when I listen, like today my son telling me his wife thinks I don’t like her cause I don’t make her feel like I want to tend her kids every Friday while she “chooses” to work, and then my 17 month old granddaughter knocking down my huge tri-fold picture frame with my pictures of all the family in, thankfully not hurting herself, but breaking something that I worked hard to make special for our family. All these things just take a back seat to listening to David sing. All of it. So glad he has left us with so much to look back on while he is gone.
And I was just thinking today that it seems like yesterday that David was flying to the Phillipines to start this adventure, and now it’s almost two months later, we are watching his acting career take bloom, listening to new songs and more to come. See how time flies. He will be home before we know it.
I must say though, the day he leaves will be a hard one for us all, but I learned that after sending two missionaries out, I didn’t want to do it again, so I need some old woman surgery and I scheduled it for March 28th, cause that is the most logical day for him to enter an MTC, wherever that may be, cause they always go in on a Wednesday for some reason, and hopefully when he tweets the last tweet before he leaves I will be knocked out and won’t wake up till the day is over. Otherwise I would be a blubbering idiot that day and I don’t want to deal with that. I have been there and done that and don’t want to again. I am such a boob!!!!!

Shawna… (Stidwell53) you made me laugh out loud. Good thing I don’t drink much at my computer! On the outside you sometimes sound like “Eeyore” but to me you are really a “Poo Bear” inside.
About the “undershirt”: The short answer is “Yes”, it has to do with his faith. Many religious faiths wear a certain type of clothing or something like that to remind them of promises they have made or precepts they believe in. For the LDS, this just means they wear it under their regular clothing rather than wearing a special type of clothing on top. And like most clothing, (especially since the 70’s) there are different textiles, etc. that one can choose from.
One of my sons served a mission in that area of the world and another in the Dominican Republic (where the humidity would reach 100% for extended times). So I made bold to call them up just now and ask them…. ^_^ ! They reassured me that they experienced no discomfort and were certain that DA would get good advice on what type of textiles would be good for the area he was going to.
I answer this to put peoples mind at rest as I know the concern is for DA and not meant as a critique on his beliefs.
I love you guys so much. Thanks for just being who you are.
