“Nandito Ako” Starring David Archuleta as Josh Bradley Airs Today!
Posted by djafan on Monday, February 20, 2012
First I just want to say, “Welcome Home David Archuleta” and welcome home Kari too! I enjoyed their stay in the Philippines almost as much as they did, but it’s good to know they are safely on the ground and in the bosom of their families again.
Second, today is the debut of the first installment of Nandito Ako. There is a live stream here, God willing and the stream don‘t fail to rise to the occasion. After weeks of TV5’s whipping his fans into a frenzy all over the world, there had better be. If not, there will be a reckoning and I reckon you all know what I mean by that. If you think there was weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth in the Nandito Ako trailers, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Hell nor any woman hath no fury like a person with ODD scorned.
We will not be denied. We have a personal invitation from the man himself.
I need the Emo-David. I need the bunny. I need the hair pulling, the right hook, the head whacking, getting locked in a room and thrown out of the house along with all the pushing, shoving and over-the-top melodrama. And I need the melody of Nandito Ako sung by the Voice and the tender love scenes between Josh, Anya, and Holly. I need to cry with him and I need a happy ending with a smiling David..er, Josh. I need it all and I need it now. Not because I care about soap operas, but because I care about him and this endeavor we have lived vicariously through for weeks. So proud of him and his willingness to try what he didn’t know he could do, and see him exceed all expectations time and time again. I need to be there. This is my prayer.
Prayers also from The Voice for David on the loss of his Great Grandmamma, Isabel, and for all the family and a very Happy 13th Birthday to his little sister, Amber.

Wow! So much drama! So much mayhem! So many commercials!! 😆
The show itself looked like a typical soap with lots of drama even though I didn’t understand most of the dialog. But it looked to be well produced and directed considering the relatively short time they had filming it. Kudos to the TV5 Production Team.
And that guy who played the grown-up Josh…he wasn’t half-bad either. In fact, he seemed to not need any direction at all. He was a natural with Movie Star Handsome looks too!
I stayed home from work “sick” today just to see the Premiere of NA. I was a little worried the grown up David wouldn’t appear! When he finally did for a few minutes at the end (and at the very beginning), it was well worth it! 😀
I hope there will be good quality videos of the rest of the series for the fans who have to work and have to wait to watch later.

Oh yeah, and one more thing.
I hope when TPTB in the American Entertainment Industry see David in this, his first dramatic acting part, that they KICK themselves from here to China for not seeing David as one of, if not the ONLY honest to goodness naturally gifted artist of immense and many talents. Even though David was being pursued during his MKOC, it was a little too late as he had other plans but I know that David will have his pick of what he wants to do and with who, when he returns. After this series and all the other projects he excelled in while in the Philippines, I can’t see why not. As young as he is, he captures the essence of the word “Artist”. Everything David does is a Work Of Art.
I can definitely see David on the big screen. He may even be the next “Johnny Depp” whose acting ability David said he admires. I’m totally serious just as I was serious three years ago when I made a comment on a fansite about David becoming a really good actor someday. He can have it all if he wants it and if this “soap” is any indication, I believe he does.

This is what Josh Bradley said about love at the start of the series:
“Thank you all for sharing this special moment with me.
Love, it’s just one word and yet it means everything in this world. You find it everywhere. But true love, that’s the hardest to find. Some people live and die without finding their true love. Or maybe they have but didn’t know until it was too late. So when you find your true love, hold on to it and never let go. Cause that’s what I would do.”

A video up so fast!! Even though it’s not the entire episode, just knowing videos will be up & running is a huge relief! This is one “soap” I am definitely hooked on!
Just a note about “Soaps”, & which I’m sure some if us have had the same experience, I was thinking back to when I was a very young girl, maybe 9 or 10, when we got our first TV set. My mom used to watch “soaps” on TV and of course I would too when school was out for the summer. It was a daily ritual watching not one, but at times 3 or 4 soaps every weekday. When the most dramatic story-lines were shown, there was NO WAY my mom would schedule anything else that day. It was as if she “knew” these “actors” personally and she would give them advice, scold them, laugh & cry with them. It was a respite from the everyday world of raising a large family and it was a world she could lose herself in before my Dad came home from work.
My sisters & I grew up, got married, moved away and we also watched “The Stories” as they were/are called. It was great having that connection, enjoying & discussing and yes even disagreeing about the current catastrophe on a particular “Story”. In the later years, as many of us of ethic backgrounds can relate, the Novelas came to our TV screens as well. Talk about DRAMA, and for some reason, all the actors & actresses on the Novelas were gorgeous beauties. I never knew there were so many beautiful Latinos in the world! haha.
I think I read that David said his mom watches Novelas and he’s watched with her sometimes. If that is true, then he knew exactly what he was in for and what would be expected of him in NA. He knew it would be a big challenge & he was willing to take it. He was willing to take a chance because I believe David really, really wants acting to be in his future. What better way than to begin in a “soap” where actors show every emotion known to man and make it look real? I have read that acting in a soap is the hardest job for an actor. Yes, it can be “cheesy” but billions of Soap Opera lovers throughout the world who grow to love the actors and feel a real connection to them, it can only be because the “acting” is so GOOD. Many actors who started on soaps have gone on to become well known Movie Stars.
David Archuleta will be one of them!

I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised–he can sure sing convincingly about it! Can’t wait for the next episode. (Hey, any idea as to the “head-bandage thingy” on Holly? Do you think she is sick? I only caught the last half hour of “Nandito Ako” this morning on TV5 but got to see the rest here thanks to those who posted videos from today’s show. It’s comforting to know that the videos will be made available in such a timely fashion.
I’m so hooked it’s not even funny. I already feel attached to the characters, the way you feel when you read a good book and you can’t put it down. I’m looking forward to how the story pans out. So Anya is the little girl Josh met in the fire, the girl he came back for. And Holly…maybe she turns out to be David’s sister. She cries so hard; perhaps because it’s a love that could never be? And the theme song is haunting. I’m glad that it’s used during the show when various characters sing excerpts from it. Also, I just loved the smirk when Josh said “Let’s go to The Philippines!” 😉
Silverfox, I remember three years ago when you talked about David going into acting and I also remember wholeheartedly agreeing with you. I have always referred to David as “the man of a thousand faces” because of how expressive his face is. With just one episode you can already see how good he is, how believable he is as Josh Bradley.
I grew up on soaps too and have seen many actors get their start and then leave for either prime time tv, movie roles or to become a recording artist including Demi Moore, Calista Flockhart, Josh Dumahel, John Stamos, Jesse McCartney, Kelly Ripa, Tom Selleck and so many others.
We are a funny bunch, SB and her knee, djafan, the non-morning person, jumping out of bed at the crack of dawn, some of us learning Twitter just for this purpose, blueberry muffins and juice. I broke down and used the laptop in bed just to watch NA.
Gladys I’m so proud of you. We’ve been together for a few years here and on TVU and your English has really really improved!
Blueberry Ice, I’ll be looking for you on Twitter.
Prayers for David’s family on the loss of his great-grandmother.

I have a plan for the next two or three weeks:
today, Monday and Tuesday, in my country are national holidays, carnivals are celebrated here.
Nandito begins at 10 am, at this time I start to work. From the Wednesday, I come a little early to my work, to be at 10 am at point in front of my computer.
And I will ask my coworkers, I will pray, do not even answer the phone, and serve clients in the study. That is, I do not exist between 10 am and 11 am. That time belongs to josh / david and me.
I hope my boss never know.
I’ve seen soap operas all my life, I grew up with them. And I can say (with knowledge) that this miniseries is more than a soap opera. It has good actors and I am amazed the naturalness of david. Well, this is not news, david always amazes me.
I see the future of David a long line of producers, directors, publicists, etc (and I) when he returns from his mission.

My heart was pounding for David this morning because he tweeted that he too was watching and was nervous. The best part of this episode was indeed David delivering his lines in the final section and using that magical face in such a natural way. My Grandmother watched ( was glued to) a certain soap every day ( can’t remember the name of it). so when the day came –that the leading lady character died–I can remember being so concerned that my G’ma might have a stroke or a heart attack–I had to call for someone to check on her. I haven’t seen a soap in years–when my kids were teens ” All My Children” was a noon lunch ritual–haha–Poor Erika.
This is going to be soooo much fun—maybe we can be filled in a little bit on what is being said –so we have an idea of what’s going on– that we can’t catch with the acting–don’t exactly know where they are translating it.
Tomorrow–tomorrow and many more to come. 😛

IN/SIGHT: DAVID ARCHULETA’S NANDITO AKO EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS By EDGAR O. CRUZ 21/02/2012 05:09:22
“Nandito Ako should set up a model for TV5 how to do its shows. Instead of keeping up with competition, it must create its own rules. By featuring an actor with real instead of expected demand, TV5 effectively focused on the show’s promotion instead of creating demand for it.”

I find this article interesting and historical, enjoy.
How the song ‘Nandito Ako’ came to be
By Walden Martinez Belen | Yahoo! Southeast Asia Newsroom – Mon, Feb 6, 2012 6:23 AM PHT
Aaron Paul del Rosario, writer-composer of “Nandito Ako,” the first song that made Ogie Alcasid popular, is excited and honored that the composition is also the title of a new TV5 teleserye starring David Archuleta of “American Idol” fame.
In a recent Facebook exchange of messages, Aaron said: “This is really great, a nice birthday gift for me.”
He marked his birth anniversary last Jan. 13, the day he learned David is singing and starring in “Nandito Ako.”
Aaron feels sad David can’t record the English version of the song, “Forever With You,” as he is already leaving for Singapore on Feb.5.
Aaron recalls how “Nandito Ako” came about.
It was 1989, after he stayed for a few years in San Diego, California.
“I came over for a short vacation. I visited OctoArts (the recording company that discovered him as a singer-songwriter). Bob Guzman of the famous Boyfriends was head of the Artists Development Department of OctoArts, and he told me they had an upcoming artist who was going to record an album with them. He told me to watch their new artist who was having a mini mall concert to see if I could write an original song for him.”
Impressed
“But I stayed till the end of the show,” Aaron relates. “I was truly impressed. The artist Bob Guzman told me about, turned out to be Ogie Alcasid, a former Kundirana member. He could sing, dance and tell jokes well enough to thrill the audience and elicit from them favorable response. Ang galing niya. But I noticed and heard that the crowd was always shouting the name ‘Manilyn (Reynes)!’
Aaron did a little research and found out that Manilyn was in a loveteam with Keempee de Leon. Aaron surmised that Ogie could be the third angle in a love triangle.
“That inspired me to write ‘Nandito Ako,’ the gist of which is that in a relationship, there could be someone out there waiting for his chance to tell the girl of his fancy his secret feelings and that he’s just waiting in case the girl’s relationship with her boyfriend turns sour. It tells of the feelings of a hopeless romantic, who’s fantasizing that someday the girl he loves, who unfortunately belongs to someone else, would somehow by a twist of fate, fall in love with him too.”
“Nandito Ako” the teleserye also stars Jasmine Curtis Smith and Eula Caballero with veteran actress Perla Bautista among others.
It starts airing Feb. 20 on TV5.

I have been thoroughly enjoying this Nandito Ako soap so much! Hanging on every syllable and scene so tight! You know you’re intensely focused when you have no idea what the characters are saying, yet you understand and care deeply. haha! Later on while getting a snack from the kitchen, I was hearing the TV from another room and the language (English) sounded eerily like Tagalog…and this is only the second show! What will I be like after 5 weeks of immersion therapy in this tongue? I may find myself peppering my speech with random Tagalog words at work or in social settings. o O.
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode! There are some scenes where he shows some real promise as an actor. I mean by that it’s not an easy art, but the best ones make it look easy, and I see glimpses of that in his performance at times. I think he said in an interview once that music is a form of acting. It may not be for every singer, but the way David performs music, it’s an emotional act of communication. So I think he’s been preparing for this for a long time.
Oh la! Every day for 5 weeks! Salamat David!

From Singing, To Acting, To Service
By RONALD S. LIM
February 22, 2012, 10:56am
David Archuleta tries acting in a local teleserye starring opposite today’s promising young actresses Jasmine Curtis Smith and Eula Caballero. (Photo by ANDREW PAMORADA)
MANILA, Philippines — The past month has been replete with new milestones for American Idol grad David Archuleta.
For one, there is his first turn as an actor for the new TV5 serye “Nandito Ako” alongside local talents Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero.
The 21 year-old also recorded his own version of the song “Nandito Ako”, a bestselling tune that was composed by Aaron Paul del Rosario and first popularized by OPM legends Ogie Alcasid and Lea Salonga. The only other foreign artist to record it was Mexican songstress, Thalia, and it resulted in a bestselling album for her here in the country.
By next month, Archuleta will be experiencing yet another milestone as he takes a two-year break from showbiz to become a Mormon missionary. Just like his decision to pursue acting in the Philippines, it’s not the most conventional way to go about with a Hollywood career – but that’s exactly how Archuleta wants to do it.
“It’s always a scary thing when you make a decision that everybody tells you doesn’t make sense. You never know what’s going to happen. But it was kind of the same thing with American Idol. I didn’t know what was going to happen. It ended up being so fulfilling for my life. This is just another one of those things,” he explains.
A NEW EXPERIENCE
Archuleta says it was with the very same trepidation that he took on his hand at acting here in the Philip-pines. While he has already appeared on shows like “iCarly” and “Hannah Montana” playing himself, his role in the TV5 serye as international artist Josh Bradley is his first time actually acting as a character.
“I was very reluctant because I didn’t know what this experience would be like. I would have to go out and be such a long way from home for such a long time. It was something that I’ve never done before,” he says. “But TV5 was always very open and easy to work with and they made things very easy and comfortable for me. It just showed even more when I arrived here.”
That arrival back in January was the beginning of what would be almost two months of acting workshops, recording sessions, and shooting scenes in Metro Manila.
Being a newbie actor working with far more seasoned thespians presented a lot of challenges, not the least of which is the fact that he had to interact with them in Filipino – a language he only knows bits and pieces of.
“Coming into it I was very nervous since I’m not an actor. It’s a job that I don’t really know how to do. They tried to keep the Tagalog words as simple as they could so it could sound natural. It was a challenge be-cause the rest of the cast most of the time would be speaking in Tagalog and I would respond in English for the most part. It was a challenging experience,” he shares.
Doing the serye, says Archuleta, opened his eyes to an entirely new way of expressing himself, and is something that he intends to pursue even further after he has served his time as a missionary for the Church of the Latter Day Saints.
“I do lay myself bare to an audience when I sing, but it’s in a different way. Acting and singing are very similar in that way where you become very vulnerable and you open yourself up and express an emotion,” he explains. “I’m not the best actor out there. But I can’t wait to keep growing. It’s so much fun and a lot of work. I think that if I keep on working on it I can get better, because it’s just a great thing to share with people.”
PREPARING FOR MISSIONARY LIFE
More than just opening up new avenues for artistic expression, Archuleta says that his months-long stay in the country has p r e p a r e d him for the r igo r s o f missionary life. A rigid set of rules a r e i n p l a c e for Mormon missionaries, who are encouraged to limit their phone communication with their family, dress conservatively at all times, and stay away from television, movies, the Internet, and most secular music.
“The fact that I’ll be going on a mission, it’s nice that I’m here, in a way. It’s taught me a lot about myself as a person as well. I started to get more out of my comfort zone. This is the most difficult thing that I’ve done and it was great to take on the challenge,” he shares.
Fans also shouldn’t worry about him disappearing from the scene while he fulfils his obligations to his church. While here, Archuleta says he has written and recorded songs that he hopes will fill the space that he is going to leave behind.
“I’ll be gone for two years, and I don’t want to leave my fans with nothing. I just feel like it would be so disrespectful after all they’ve done to support me,” he says. “I want to make sure that the songs will be there. Even though I’m not here physically for my career, I still want to have the music there.”
His two year absence may cast a long shadow of uncertainty on his artistic career, but Archuleta says it something that he is ready to face.
“This is a decision that took a couple of years to make and finally make happen. Even though it’s scary, I know that it’ll be worth it. I’ve learned to trust that feeling in my life. I just have to keep following that feeling,” he declares.

In regards to Eula’s interview that Betsy posted #124…
I have a couple of concerns…By reading the words spoken by Eula, is this completely accurate? Can it be trusted as exactly what she said because the media there was often writing about how much fun it is in the Philippines and putting that thought to David when he was being interviewed…like, why is it more fun in the Philippines David they asked?
I believe in David but I do not necessarily believe in everyone who surrounds him at all times. I believe that he is a magnificent musician and an equally magnificent person. I have flown many thousands of miles to hear and see this one musician, drawn by the soulfulness and spirituality of his voice. But I do know that the world is not that safe a place right now and he must be careful in everything that he does and anywhere he goes. I have complete faith that the church people will keep him safe.
The words supposedly spoken by Eula mirror the thoughts that in this world he loves his family and the Philippines noticeably forgetting his homeland fans. I don’t believe this and if it is true, then there is a reason and the reason being that he has personal issues and why would he not? The huge image that he shoulders is powerful and ever growing. I don’t believe for a minute that he doesn’t completely love his homeland and his long time fans as the much loved and needed part of his foundation in his world of music. I am writing this not even living in the US myself but standing back just far enought to see.
David…go away and answer your calling. Take the time to place all of the players in their rightful places. Do not be swayed any differently…Pinocchio, I mean…David…
I would never in my life have flown from the east coast to Salt Lake City on my own (and near Christmas) a few years ago, for any other musician. I had to hear him sing with a choir and an orchestra…So those who appreciate his music that much will be the foundation when he returns if some others have moved along. There is one thing that David does not have and that is enough belief in himself. Even though the mission will be a lot of work that he will love of course, he will be given peace. Two years I believe will give enough time to prepare for a North American return of David’s music to his fans. More on that to follow!!

I have very mixed feelings about that “interview” that wasn’t an interview. It was a private conversation in which David told his private feelings to someone he trusted. He must have been very vulnerable.
It’s all over now, that’s why I posted it. But I bet he never thought he was spilling his guts to the world.
It bothers me not at all that he said he’d like to remain in the Philippines. What bothers me was his worry that everyone would go on to other things, and it seems like he fears being forgotten. His sisters growing up without him. This is heartbreaking.

SB,
I’m positive some things get lost in the translation. Not only with the Philippine media but also with the US media and mind you they speak English lol. So in that context I know David hasn’t and won’t forget his homeland fans. Isn’t it obvious?
David tweets today.
David Archuleta @DavidArchie
Time to focus on some more music stuff today.
David rested and is back to work. He said in one of his last interviews, paraphrasing here “and to my US fans I haven’t forgotten you, of course not” with his signature smile and crinkling of the eyes. I need to go look for that interview.
This SB, this! But I’d also like to add “World fans” because I believe with all my heart that David has all the attributes needed to become an epic International Star.
“Two years I believe will give enough time to prepare for a North American return of David’s music to his fans. More on that to follow!!”

Unfortunately perhaps some things do get lost in translation so they should not be translated then because the young fans are not going to try to figure things out, just feel badly. We are the ones who can give reason but unless the interview (or leaking of conversation) then to his young fans (not his older fans) this is the word…taken at face value because they belive in what is said by David.
Yes David has world fans but if one looks on youtube at how many artists travel the world and have huge receptions wherever they go such as Manila, then you will see that many are International Stars.. They just don’t tour in the US…but…they love their homeland first, it is their home, they are not gypsies…well most are not…

I will try to choose my words carefully.
This young actress , 16 or17 I believe, was approached by press and asked to elaborate about private conversations with the star of the series. For me the issue is boundaries. She may not have realized that what she repeated was so personal to David. I can forgive her youth on that point.
What I struggle with is the press using her words while knowing that is was a private conversation. Some filtering might have been a better choice.
I do not ever, repeat ever, take offense to David expressing his love for any person, fan base or location. It all has helped him to get to where he is in his career. He expresses a gratitude for the support from everyone who helped along the way.

After watching today’s episode, I feel like I can finally relax; I think I was actually a little nervous about how well David would do with this series. I thought in some of the first scenes he seemed a little self-conscious, which made him a little stiff. But the angry scenes and the crying at his mom’s grave scene today–wow! Well done for a novice, David! I have quickly come to the conclusion that I don’t care which girl he ends up with, I just want him to clock Evil Steve a good one. What’s with the weird bow-tie Steve keeps wearing? I keep expecting that thing to spin. Did it come with his Zorro costume when he bought the hat?

well, 135. that is really neat Dja, thanks for bringing that here! I gotta say,
I didn’t learn anything in that interview that I didn’t already know. But Eula did.
She learned how important David’s family is, how much he loves his time spent in the Philippines and the Filipino people, and how much he loves his fans, and how important all of that is to him, and his God. God and family. She saw his heart, and I think she was just a teenage girl sharing that her way.
I look at Davids fan base as just that. We are David Archuleta fans, and we are all united in our love for him.We are all over the world, and there are no borders. We are all Archies, united in our love for David, and for each other.
The 5 weeks David was away,he and Kari and the fan base were well nourished and taken care of like they were at a relatives house. I love that. It is so wonderful.
We take care of David and each other. It is consistent for David. We are all different yet all the same.Wherever David has gone to ‘work’ and will go in the future, he knows we will be there for him in the same fashion. I don’t know about you all, but that makes me feel really good.

Awww SB, don’t feel bad. As for David loving the Phils, I’m sure he does. He’s had a great time there. But if you think back, he’s often said “I love it here, I don’t want to leave” about other places too, places in the U.S, like Nashville for example. And he always tweets “It’s good to be back home” almost every time he returns home.
I think another reason he didn’t want to leave the Phils this time is because it’s the last thing before his mission and he’s going to really miss all of his fans everywhere when he leaves, so he kind of didn’t want it to end.

Beautifully said. “We are all over the world, and there are no borders.”
I especially like the way you put that. Let me add to it and say that I think there are “no borders in David’s heart.” ♥
Xaris,
“What’s with the weird bow-tie Steve keeps wearing? I keep expecting that thing to spin. Did it come with his Zorro costume when he bought the hat?” hahaha That cracked me up!!
And I’m with you. haha Personally, I’d like to see him use that left hook on Uncle Steve.

Bebe#139 – thank you. A couple of scenes were missing when I watched the broadcast this morning. Was a little late tuning in, so not sure if that was why. David’s delivery was so convincing that I couldn’t turn off the tears – esp the cemetery scene. Made my heart ache, for real.
Sky, I love what & how you express yourself. Thanks.

David Archuleta… “Forevermore”
Feb 22, 2012
Last week, David Archuleta’s partner Ivory Music & Video, Inc. announced the forthcoming release of probably David’s last album before his intended 2-year break from the business to embark on an important spiritual mission.
“DAVID ARCHULETA… FOREVERMORE” is a collection of all original Filipino classic love songs written and composed by some of the Philippine’s renowned songwriters like Ogie Alcasid, Louie Ocampo, Jay Durias, Jimmy Antiporda, Cecil Azarcon, among others.
“Forevermore”, “You Are My Song”, “I’ll Never Go”, “Reaching Out”, “Rainbow”, “Tell Me”, and “Hold On” are some of the songs included in the album.
Why “Forevermore”? David is a much-loved international artist in the Philippines. This album is a fitting tribute not only to OPM (Original Pilipino Music), but to his countless fans who have remained loyal through the years. He wants his fans to know that he loves and appreciates them, wherever he may go… forevermore.
The album will be released in the Philippines by IVORY Music & Video in March 2012.
IVORY’s partner store AstroPlus is offering local and international shipping. Pre-order “Forevermore” online now: sign up for a free Multiply.com account, and order your copy of “Forevermore” at AstroVision.Multiply.com!

To share a link with non fans, just copy and paste that link in #139 into an email to them. I am not sure what you are asking about Facebook.
You do have to sign up for Facebook if you want to post links to someone’s Facebook page. I signed up, but I never use my page. I just need to be able view links to other’s Facebook if necessary. For instance when there are David pictures I want to see.

Does anyone else find themselves making up your own words to the scenes where you don’t hear a word of English–by the emotions that are being shown? I do!! 😉
Got my own little story going. Haha Sure has me hooked!! Thanks to Bebe #139 – I got to see part of what I missed this morning. Spazz medicine doesn’t work on panic attacks.
David is doing an excellent job–I think because the scenes were shot out of sequence we will see him waver between—new on the job David -to- experienced David.

Betsy,
David uses those skills when he sings. It comes so natural to him that he can just carry them over to his acting. He used those skills (holding back and not going over the top) during American Idol.
Take a look at how David at 17 years old knew instinctively how to deliver a song.

I do have one question anybody.
Did Holly throw her piece of Josh’s watch into the fountain?
I would have had the camera focused on the watch piece, …in slow motion…through the air…. landing in the water fountain, for that scene.) that is if she threw the watch in, and if I were the director.(But I am not the director, and it is late, and I am sleepy right now) ha!

Hi all. Wow, what a whole new “David’ experience! I just love him in this! He’s been doing just great in his first acting endeavor. I just loved the way he said “What??” in the limo after Chi said, “You’re up to something…” I know, that’s kind of a late comment on a long-gone scene, but it was the first of many favorites so far. I’ve been finding myself not looking at him as “David acting” but as Josh, a different person. He’s done his job. Another one that got to me was when Uncle gives him proof of his mom’s death and you can see it in his face that his hopes of finding her start to fade and finally gives in to grief. Made me wish I was Chi at that moment. I won’t even attempt to comment on the cemetery scene. I’m so glad I’ve been able to come here and watch so far. I hope I continue to do so since I don’t get much of a chance to and the episodes disappear so fast! Also I was really hoping the album would be available through CDWOW like TOSOD ATE was. Some of us will have to wait for it. At least for a while, cause when you want to, you can, right Gladys? Thank you all for all the goodies. Those photos! Sometimes I feel like that crumpled hat in his hands lol. Good night all. Love!

I went back to the replay. Anya reaches into her bag and takes the out the watch and talks to her Dad. The watch face is rather large in her hands. You can tell she has something else in her right hand. I think she took the coin out when she went for the watch.
She holds the coin up which is smaller than the watch face, and makes a wish as she tosses it into the water.
In proportion to her fingers the watch is large and the coin is small.

Hi all,
This is all so fun for us. It is so obvious to me that the power of a fan base can have major impact on the “powers to be”. We have seen how the hard work of the Philippine fans has soo paid off for David and for all of us world wide.
Isn’t it possible to harness the power of his world-wide fans to get David the promotion he deserves in this last month here in the states? If we are able to “trend” David daily, can’t we use this same energy to get him on Good Morning America,,,,, etc.? I don’t even tweet, but I can email. Can’t we inundate people with the story of this amazing young man,,,, going from adored RockStar to humble servant of his God. Who would do that? We know, but everyone should know. Literally millions of people not only like David, but voted for him during American Idol. There is lots of love and support to be tapped out there.
Come on, what can we do to send him off knowing millions of people wait for him to return. ??

New perspective: American Idol’s David Archuleta sets his sights on Philippine TV and signs a deal with retail giant Bench.
David Archuleta’s new fix
CHASING TOFF By Christopher De Venecia The Philippine Star Updated February 24, 2012 12:00 AM
Placing second to David Cook in the intensely-followed David Vs. David American Idol showdown over four years ago, who would’ve thought that fan favorite David Archuleta would become a worldwide phenomenon? I sure as hell didn’t. For some reason, his season had been that one season of Idol that I didn’t get to catch, despite having hawked the series fastidiously from O.G. Kelly Clarkson to country guy Scott McCreery. Dawg, my bad.
At a recent press launch for David Archie (@DavidArchie on the Twitterverse) as the latest endorser for Filipino mega brands Bench and Bench Fix, I found myself a believer — the ultimate deal-breaker being the singer’s cover of A Thousand Miles. With generosity that he extended to his screaming fans as a result of their second and third pleas for “more” during his mini-concert at TriNoma that night, I saw firsthand — the charm, the heart-on-his-sleeve persona, and the unassuming small town boy humility that he is known to fashion despite international stardom. Heck, when I entered his dressing room for the interview, he offered me a bite to eat.
A simple boy from Utah, David Archie has since generated two pop albums, two Christmas projects, and sold-out concerts around the world — which now includes, among others — a forthcoming OPM album (believe it or not!), a mini-series with TV5, and a clothing and hair product endorsement. Young Star goes behind-the-scenes and talks to the Idol alum and newly minted Bench endorser, minutes before he took to the stage. David has since found fame singing the kind of love songs that make teenage hearts sigh.
YOUNG STAR: Hey David, how’s the Philippines been treating you so far?
DAVID ARCHULETA: It’s been great. We’ve loved our stay here.
We hear you like sisig. What else about Manila have you come to love?
I love sisig! Also the people. Everyone we’ve gotten to work with. TV5 has been awesome. Everyone in the mini-series I’ve been working on — Nandito Ako, the cast, the crew, Direk Mac Alejandre, and also getting to work with Ivory Music and Video on an OPM album that will be coming out next month.
That’s awesome! What’s it going be called?
Forevermore. It’s in English but it’s an all-OPM album. We worked with Jay Durias and Jimmy Antiporda. It’s been great.
OPM, sisig, do you see yourself becoming more Filipino by the minute?
I feel like a part of me is becoming Filipino. I’ve come to love it here.
Can’t believe it’s been four years since David vs. David.
Time flies most definitely. It’s crazy to see how much has happened since then and how long ago that is now.
What’s the journey been like from the Idol stage to present?
We’ve been keeping busy. I recorded two pop albums, released two Christmas projects since then. And now that OPM project. It’s crazy. And I’ll see what else I can get done when I go back to the States — see what we can get done recording for fans everywhere else before I leave for a mission.
Let’s talk about Nandito Ako.
I play an international artist named Josh Bradley. He’s half Filipino. He grew up in the Philippines ‘til he was seven with his mom. His dad died when he was young. When he was seven, there was a hotel fire that happened and he got separated from him mom and thought she was dead, and went to the States and became a successful singer. Many years later, he comes back to the Philippines looking for his mom, looking for those memories and then he meets two girls he becomes close with and falls in love. There’s kind of a love triangle there. David on Ben Chan: “[He] is an extremely nice person and I’m impressed with the reputation that he has here.
What can we expect from you in this project?
It’s my first time ever trying acting so it’s very new for me. I was very nervous. I don’t know how I’ll come across as an actor. But I had so much fun. I loved everyone I was working with. We became a family.
Did you have to take acting workshops for this?
I did. Here and abroad. I had a little bit of acting workshops the week I came to the Philippines. We had some acting workshops with Gina Alajar and Laurice Guillen. They were really great to work with.
And now you’re an endorser for Bench? What about the brand do you love in particular?
They have this really great selection of clothes. I feel very comfortable in what I can wear with Bench. And the people have also been great. Mr. Ben Chan is an extremely nice person and I’m impressed with the reputation that he has here. Everyone has good things to say about him and the brand.
Are you excited for this endorsement? You’re now part of a roster of world-class endorsers like Michael Trevino, Bruno Mars and Lucy Hale.
We’re very excited to be able to endorse the brand. We’re also launching Bench Fix tonight. We did photo shoots not just for some of the clothes that are coming up in the season but as well as some of the hair products. It’s all very exciting.

Season 11: The perfect time to celebrate Idol’s past
Posted by Mark Franklin on Feb 22, 2012 in Season 11 | 12 comments
Nigel Lythgoe:
Seems to me American Idol missed a golden opportunity last year.
It was the show’s 10th season, the perfect time to celebrates its past and present as the most-watched show in the nation.
But was there a 10th anniversary of any sort?
Nope. Nary a sign of one.
Not only that, but past Idols were largely absent from the show’s Season 10 finale.
An opportunity missed, in my mind.
The good news: Idol has another opportunity to get this right — perhaps an even better opportunity — in Season 11.
In just a couple of weeks, the Idol finals will begin.
You know what that means. Each performance show will be followed by a results show. And each results show will have slots for a couple of guest performances.
This year, let’s forget about inviting the Black Eyed Peas, the Iggy Pops, the Diddy-Dirty Moneys and the Il Volvos of the music world. Let’s forget the guest bits by Russell Brand and the gang at TMZ.
If guest mentors are only interested in being on the show to hawk their new release on results night, let them go elsewhere. After all, the only memorable guest mentor moment all last season came when Lady Gaga was coaching Scotty McCreery.
And if the judges want to hawk their own products … well, you pay them enough that they can afford a commercial or two.
Instead, let’s fill every one of those results show performance slots with past Idol contestants. Give each of them a couple of minutes to talk to Ryan about what they’ve been doing since Idol. Give them an audience of millions to market their latest project.
The timing couldn’t be better. The list of former contestants who have recently released or are planning to release new music this year reads like a who’s who of American Idol.
Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice. Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.
Vonzell Solomon, Brooke White and Kellie Pickler just released new music. Siobhan Magnus, from Season 9, has too. Lee DeWyze and Casey James plan to.
And wouldn’t it be great to give David Cook a chance to remind Idol fans of his special talent, since they’ve apparently forgotten?
And to have David Archuleta back on the show before he embarks on his two-year mission trip?
Whenever the topic of slipping ratings comes up, someone with the show — often yourself — points out how remarkable it is that Idol has been on the air for 10 years and has retained its popularity over such a long period.
So celebrate it.
By celebrating and honoring the contestants who made it possible.
They deserve to be celebrated and honored.
There won’t be a better time than Season 11.
Mark Franklin
Idol Chatter
P.S. I’ll make an exception for the season finale. It’s always nice to see the current cast get a chance to perform with some of their idols. But the show can surely do better than last year, when Carrie Underwood was the only former contestant to perform in the finale.

More new pics from Bench photoshoot….*gasps for air*
“When I had a one-on-one interview with David Archuleta at the Close Up Pyromusical last February 11, he mentioned that he had to extend his stay in the country for a week because of more projects.
As it turns out, one of the projects is an endorsement deal with Bench and Bench Fix. Why didn’t I see that coming? Come to think of it, David–with his boyish good looks and undeniable charm–is perfect for Bench.
Just look at the photos.
I got to see David again when he was launched by the brand as their newest face, and basing on the reaction of the crowd in Trinoma last February 17, it looks like Bench hit the jackpot with him.
Check out these plus some behind-the-scenes photos. I can’t wait to see his in-store photos and billboards.
I will surely miss him while he’s busy with his two-year break from the entertainment industry. Good thing his TV5 show Nandito Ako is already on air, and a new all-OPM album will be released very soon.”

I love it, MT. Anyone who has the good fortune to work with David hits the jackpot!
Thank you SB, dja and cb for the links from this morning's NA. I missed it today and all day it felt like I forgot my watch or something. LOL
#181 Sky,
Try it this way. Save pic. Go to Control panel. Go to Appearance and personalization. Click "Change desktop background". Click "Browse" to find pic and highlight the pic you want. Click "Open". Choose how to position pic. Then click ok. That should work. (Fingers crossed. LOL)

There was just not enough David in today’s episode. Perhaps the admins here could teach Channel5 to put up nice sidebar pics to keep us happy during commercials and emotional women.

I find this ex-treeeemly interesting. You would have to know the small town of Vernal, Utah, to really know why I’m amazed. It’s famous for it’s Dinosaur quarry, but that’s about it (well, and now Betty’s Cafe). It’s about a 3-4 hr. drive from SLC on the central-eastern side of the state. I just really wonder what David was doing out there in this small rural, farming town. They have a LDS Temple there that is a beautiful one, perhaps that’s why he went out. Because, then later, he tweeted about being in the ortho’s office and watching a movie on the ceiling screen. He just keeps his motor humming, on that fine tuned and well oiled machine, all the time. 🙂
“Betty’s Cafe head chef Lynda Oaks held up a menu that former American Idol contestant and soon-to-be missionary David Archuleta signed on his stop in Vernal on Thursday. A server at the cafe Dave Everett said he was impressed by Archuleta, and said he doesn’t see too many celebrities in the cafe. Regular customer of Betty’s Nancy Jensen Birchell said she spoke with the singer during breakfast and he admitted that he had visited the Vernal Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his visit. Birchell said he was dressed in Sunday best and very nonchalant. “Who knew you’d see David Archuleta in Betty’s,” Birchell said. The pop singer later sent a message to his more than 2,200,000 followers Facebook about the Roosevelt and Duchesne restaurant China Star. Archuleta announced in December that he would serve a two-year proselytizing mission for the LDS Church.”

That picutre (in the link) of him at the table, with the sun all hazy around him, there – in the middle of nowhere – … it has a surreal feeling to it. Especially if you know how off the beaten track this is. Waaaaayyyyy out there in the middle of going to or from somewhere else.
He just sits there. Eating. Nonchalantly, as they say.
I don’t know of any picture or setting I have seen recently that so captures the elusive essence of DA like this one does.
“Beam me up, Scotty.”

#189 Tawna, I know David is going to many of the temples in the area but I also think he may be looking up friends before he leaves.. who knows… but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
He blows me away with all that he does. Grateful for his music and example. 😀

Bluesky, my Dad is from Vernal, so I seriously know what you mean when you say it’s “Waaaaayyyyy out there in the middle of going to or from somewhere else.”
I find it so interesting that he is there alone and yet not alone. He is so enveloped in the light of goodness that it makes my heart pound and stand still at the same time. The photo is of value. It is so David — in this world, but not of this world.

I guess we’ll all have to wait 2 years before some of us see eachother again. (((HUGS))) to everyone!
I’m really enjoying NA. I used to watch soaps but gave them up over 10 years ago, but I am definitely hooked on this on. David is doing a marvelous job. I agree he is a quick study, but I also think he is totally being blessed for being such a good person and working so hard to be an example to all ages.

Ah, friend. For me, it is like the out-of-focus image that I see here, matches with crystal clarity his image in my heart. He is, and always will be, just David.

That is the quality that I love most about him.
As I said above: I don’t know of any picture or setting I have seen recently that so captures the elusive essence of DA like this one somehow does.
“Beam me up, Scotty.”
Somehow this silhouette, in silence, without seeing the good-looks, without hearing the voice or being (benignly) beguiled by his open manner and ready smile, speaks volumes — If by “screaming” you mean it seems loud, I agree. Loud has never been so quiet.
Meditation on David:
I remember one time there was a picture of DA in a cross legged sitting pose that spurred us on to many a discussion about his qualities of spirituality. But this unassuming image seems to capture a feeling, an essence, a tide of color and light that quietly engulfs me.
Thanks for posting it.

Bluesky, yes loud, demanding my attention, bringing, no pulling me into his space, yes engulfing me. You’re good.
And that picture is good. And David is one of a kind.

He knows he is never alone even though he is by himself. This picture speaks so much about him. For some reason, I am comforted by it. I’m not sad. I don’t feel like he’s about to be lonely. I don’t feel like crying looking at it. I’m gonna be OK. He’s gonna be OK. Phew!

That pic is so out of this world. I was just thinking, if we didn’t know it was David in that pic, would we know it was him? Of course we would. He has the most strikingly beautiful and recognizable silhouette I’ve ever seen.
