Do you dare step away from your computer to do something menial like oh…eat, sleep or pay a bill without feeling that you might miss something? Do you keep refreshing every minute so as not to miss a tweet? Do you feel compelled to stay in constant touch with what David is doing in The Philippines? I think it’s safe to say that we are drowning in news but that is not a complaint. He is embracing acting, the newest endeavor in his life. I’m not at all surprised that he’s loving it. From the beginning we knew that he had a natural acting ability. It was only a matter of time before it could happen. I’m amazed and beyond thrilled at how relaxed he is.
So relaxed that director Mac Alejandre had this to say about him:
“David is such a delight to work with. He knows what’s expected of him. And he’s a perfectionist. Siya mismo ang gustong umulit ng eksena [He offers to do a scene over] if he feels he can do more. If only he could stay here longer, it would be great to do a movie with him. For a first-time actor, he’s a natural.”
I remember several months ago when I read the first rumblings on Twitter about David doing a miniseries in The Philippines. For the most part, the tweets from fans there were negative. Overjoyed at the prospect of having David come there again but not so much for a soap opera type miniseries. Perhaps soaps aren’t the most revered type of TV fare but why do I know that this one will be different? Maybe because I know that David only gets involved in things with positive messages. We don’t know the entire plot of “Nandito Ako“, but I have every faith that we won’t be disappointed
We are blessed with a treasure trove of memorable projects before his mission: an English version of “Nandito Ako” called “Forever With You”, a rumored Valentine concert in Singapore and a five-week TV series including a concert scene to warm our hearts. Add to this, an appearance on Saturday on a TV show called “Will Time Big Time”.
The U.S. entertainment industry is clearly missing out on a gem of an entertainer, so versatile that everything he takes on turns out to be ridiculously amazing. He’s like the best guarded secret that will one day be impossible to ignore.

It is so fun to read these words by such a highly thought of and experienced director. So. fun.
One might think a certain amount of praise would be good for publicity (my cynical side….) but this does not sound like that kind of a comment at all. He sounds sincerely impressed. And I am impressed as well. DA never ceases to amaze. (Just gonna keep using that DA word.)

Bebe, your post pretty much sums up the way all of us feel. It’s harder on people that have to go to work, so I’m thankful that I can take my cd’s and give the residents David concerts. They just love him and today 3 ladies were singing along with him. Even tho they were so off tune, it was so endearing and sweet.
Love the lead off picture…they look so cute…almost alike.
Love the song. Very emotional, the very thing that David knows how to do. Can’t wait to hear it all and see the whole series!

So thankful for the abundance of pics, vids, gifs, etc. I happened to hear that short clip of Nanito Ako last night brfore heading off to bed and with it still echoing like a lullaby. I had the most restful sleep I have had in a long time. Thank you David! How in the world did we get so lucky?

Ah! yes Bebe, It is hard to step away. Sometimes, I’m so busy following twitter, it’s hard to get to the Fan Sites even let alone eat, sleep, get together with friends etc. I got a call from a friend yesterday asking what I had been up to…..ha! and I said oh nothing..ha!
I am so enjoying David being in a loving environment and being treated like the Star that he is. Wow! I’m so glad he accepted this opportunity. It is just what the Dr. ordered.
I love the song Nandito Ako and David sings it beautifully as we knew he would but now the fact that so many others do and will makes it even more special.

That clip is just gorgeous. I’ve seen many comments that his diction is almost perfect. The way he is able to sing so beautifully in languages that are foreign to him truly amazes me. The list of things he is able to do really well just keeps getting longer. He is gifted in so many ways. ♥
And he does appear to be very relaxed. I love his body language in the photos and short vids we’ve seen, very laid back and confident. I”m sure the fact that everyone there is behind him and he knows he has their support helps his confidence a great deal. So, thanks so much to everyone involved in this project.

I’m really hoping that while he is gone for the next 2 years, enough material will be time-released, over the course, to keep his name current. My personal opinion is that this hiatus can be good for him in the fact that the wanna-be’s will fade away, and David will prove to be a much more mature and stand-on-my-own-two-feet type of artist.
This song has captured my heart ♥♥. I can’t wait for it to be released (both languages), and I sure do hope that the clip that is out now is the only thing that is released before then. I would suspect that it will be that way.

Yes, David is unbelievable. His Tagalog diction is almost perfect in that NA clip, for someone who’s just maybe practiced a few days how these Tagalog words should be spoken, he’s done great. I’m sure the rest of the song is just as smooth. I’m Filipino and I can’t trace a foreign accent in there except in the word “puso”. Even in the very difficult words which foreigners reallly find difficult, he nailed it….(and with the perfect emotions too, I can’t even…) WOW, David, YOU are impressive!!

Hi Tawna21 ~I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Kari on two different occasions & I just can’t emphasize enough how warm & kind she is. She is approachable & so easy to talk to. I’m thrilled that she’s with him on this adventure & hope she joins him again when he returns from his mission. She’s seems perfect for David from what I’ve seen~the epitome of professional & fair at the same time. That’s a juggling act & she does it effortlessly.

Thanks for making me feel at least a little normal about all of this ArchuMadness I have been experiencing the last few days. I was starting to feel guilty that I stay up late each night and then anxiously hurry my family out the door again each morning so I can have my “David time” all to myself. Need to eliminate the distractions as much as possible to fully appreciate the amazingness of it all.

Thanks for reminding me of that Thoreau quote. I used that same quote in a post about David for my blog way back in July 2010. That seems like so long ago. So much has transpired in the ArchuWorld since then, but I think that quote is even more appropriate now. In my post, I talked about it being okay to be different because “those who march to a different drummer may end up making the most valuable contributions to humanity as a whole.” Little did I know, our “drummer boy” would not only march to a different beat, but he would invent his on beat, one which will surely have a profound effect on the world. Beat that drum David; we’re listening and loving it.
It is amazing how Daivd can sing in any language and we all just die from it, even if we don’t understand a word of it. Who else does this? I’ve never felt this way before. I’m reminded of a song from way back in time, 1971 to be exact (yes, I am THAT old) by Roberta Flack entitled “Killing Me Softly With His Song.” See if some of these lyrics don’t fit the way we all feel about David.

” From the airport, we all went to Edsa Shangrila Hotel where we knew David would be having a press conference later in the day. Although only a few had passes to join the pres con, some fans just stayed in the hotel, just to be “near” David. At the press conference, David was his usual charming and rambling self and answered so many questions that brought clarification to a lot of speculation that has been going on ever since he announced his plan to go on his mission, the most important of which is whether he would return to music after his mission. A lot have wondered…and feared that he wouldnt! And his answer was “YES”… he said “BECAUSE IT IS MY PASSION”! Although I always knew ( yes , I never feared that he wouldn’t) that he would return to do even better music, it was comforting to finally hear him say it finally! There will be more music….there will be more concerts! I think a lot of people around the world breathed a sigh of relief when they heard this! And even better than this, he said is trying to record some songs before he goes on his mission. Songs that could be released at intervals during the time he is away. So he will be “around” even if he is not around! As he mentioned in a private conversation with fans after the press-con, he says he values the relationship he has with his fans and does not want to just leave us hanging and just away. Aside from possible release of songs, he says he will try to find a way to keep in touch, even if just through the internet! It is this attitude of David, this acknowledgment of a relationship with fans, this reciprocation of our love for him that makes us love him even more! So much more that it doesn’t matter where he goes, or how long he is away, he should know that we will support him in all his endeavors…and will be here waiting for him! NANDITO KAMI ! — WE ARE HERE, David! (BTW, David,we can’t wait to hear your full version of Nandito Ako)”

Thank you! When I was in college I had a friend who majored in romance languages and so she was able to speak many of them but I have to admit that she couldn’t get the French accent down. She tried but never succeeded. David tries and succeeds. You’re right; he’s gifted in so many ways.

Jan wrote “Very emotional, the very thing David knows how to do.” As I was scrutinizing the 2 inch stack of photos of David that Jan took at the SL Christmas tour I was struck by how many different emotions crossed David’s face in that short span of time. Joy, concern, pleasure, humility,compassion, love, expectation, surprise, kindness, wonder, boldness, respect, appreciation, confidence all coming from deep within him. Nothing shallow or forced.
PandasMama, I’ve always loved that Roberta Flack song. Until you brought it here I had not thought of it pertaining to David, but it is so fitting.
My best laugh for today came while watching the video at #9 when the interviewer told David he had been in a bar. His reaction at around 2:45 is priceless.

The Philippines loves David David the person, Davids beautiful voice, and the positive uplifting messages that voice carries have been “heard”,celebrated, and praised in a land far away……they are honored to have him starring in a miniseries, written for him when they know he had no acting experience!! Killing Me Softly has never been more beautiful than in that video from Pabuckie. I realize it is not new, but any video of David that you don’t see for 2 days becomes new. Sometimes it only takes 5 minutes.

Morning, all! Heading off to a busy day at work, but had to stop by and check in…loving all the new goodies! What a hard working young man! Hope he’s having fun in spite of the grueling schedule.
On a side note, several of my daughter’s friends just received their LDS mission calls: Argentina, Japan, Russia, Finland, and California. Wondering where David will be going and if he may possibly serve with any of them. With 340 different missions, the chances are very slim!

Abs, I do have a Ken doll ( my daughters from when she was little) that has very dark real hair (not plastic molded stuff) I think I’ll go free him from his case and re-style his hair today. My very own David doll!!
Bebe, You mean I have work around the house?–I hadn’t noticed–my brain is on one track for the next few weeks and can’t be disturbed—or should I say I”M disturbed.
For example: when not at the computer treating my eyes–I’m thinking–(oh oh)
about the silliest things –like— “If only he could stay here longer, it would be great to do a movie with him. For a first-time actor, he’s a natural.”
Well, if I still know how to cypher 😕 –here’s my calculations. From what I’ve read this series will be on for !/2 hour every weekday for three weeks–let’s say minus commercials -that’s 24 min. a day. 24×5=120 min. 120 min. X 3 weeks=360 min–. divided by 60 min ( a hour) =6 hrs. That’s not counting what will end up on the cutting room floor.
Haven’t been to a movie in years, but don’t they run around 2 hrs? So according to my brain power —that’s like 3 movies, isn’t it?? 😯
Am I all wet? and making a donkey out of myself?

Oh, Gladys, that song brings back memories of Junior High!! I had a juke box in my basement, and that was one of the songs it played. I never knew what it meant, but I could sing most of the song. Both of my children went on Spanish speaking missions, and it wasn’t until just recently that they shared with me what it meant. I think it would be awesome for David to go to a Spanish speaking country on his mission to be able to more fully embrace the language and culture of his heritage.

They probably have a certain number of scenes they have to shoot each day so they stay on schedule. If scenes go well, they knock off a little earlier, if there are a lot of retakes, they probably stay a little later.
As for that chicken, LOL, it sure looks comfy in David’s hands. No splayed talons, nice and relaxed. I wonder if it stopped cackling after he put it down. LOL He does seem to have a calming influence on most creatures. 😉
From her tweets, it looks like Eula is going to be ok, but needs to rest for a couple of days, wear flats, and take some meds. I’m glad it wasn’t anything too serious. She will probably miss the mall appearance though.

Thanks to all those who took videos, posted videos and pics here and to those who stayed up all night. I watched the mall appearance and enjoyed that new wonderful ending for “Crush”.
I think David absolutely loves acting and would make a great leading man, not just because of his good looks. He understands that acting is like singing in that for both you have to emote to get a message across to the audience. The better you understand your character, the better you can transmit the message. His director called him a natural. Let’s hope that the acting bug bit him so hard that we can see him on the big screen in years to come.

Had to watch it several times cause I got lost watching them turn from gold to green to brown & even blue (??). Is that possible? Must have been the lighting or backdrop. Everyone treats him like we feel he should be treated – from the co stars to the tv5 interviewers, to the director (love that clip of him, so elated), not just his devoted fans. For being the main character in a 5 wk miniseries as his first acting role, he is incredibly relaxed. No outward signs of stress or anxiety. No mention of it being more difficult than expected.
Not to mention tons of promo/interviews and then on to the recording studio – and recording in a language he doesn’t speak. How does he do it. How?
