In a Good Place with David Archuleta

This is not really a recap, not really a normal article. I am just feeling so good that the words flowed. Pretty sure this is acceptance and happiness for David and his strong decision. 🙂 Love him more than ever. Also, I don’t have a clue how this happened. I am sure the sadness will come back at times, but right now, the overwhelming feeling is YES!! David is doing something he wants very much to do!!
I was planning on writing a recap of my time at the Verona show. But it turned out that I couldn’t. I could barely comment on anyone’s articles. (sorry) I was too sad.
But. Here’s the thing. I must have snapped out of it. For awhile, anyway. It’s starting to feel like Thanksgiving for some reason. I have never felt so grateful, so thankful, as I do right now. It started last night and has kept flowing throughout today. I hope this feeling stays. 🙂
So blessed to have such kindred spirits as all of you. ♥
So blessed to have found David almost 4 years ago. ♥
To get him. What he’s all about. To love him. And his music.
When David sang Good Place in Verona, a couple of friends and I sat right in front of him. Stunned. The mistakes mattered not. It was pure David. He laughed a little, but toward the end of the song, there was nothing but tender, heartfelt love pouring out of him.
After he finished, we said “this alone was worth the money, the travel problems, etc. If this was all we were to get it’d be worth it.” We were dead serious. And we still had an entire show after that.
I’ll never forget that feeling. I carry it around with me every day. It’s so good.
Nobody else can give us precisely what David gives us. We are so lucky. He really gave us the best of himself this past tour. If I hadn’t been able to go to the show, I would still have felt it through the videos. I HAVE felt it through videos.

I was lucky. For some reason, I had the feelings you just had At the concert in Ventura. He had given me all I needed, just not all that I Want. When three days later he made his announcement, I was crushed, but ready. Yep, I still get super sad, but the feeling is nothing like the feeling of thankfulness for what I already have. I am so glad I was able to go to my one and only (so far 🙂 ) concert.

Right after the announcement,I could not watch/listen to the tour videos.Now I am right back in there, watching… everything,For me,it has ended up being the perfect medicine♥

Betsy, Thank You for sharing your experience and your gratefulness with us. This article and my morning meditation reading about Change definitely coincide. An attitude of being Grateful and having so many fans to share these memories with is so meaningful and helpful. Between attending concerts and now watching videos, I feel so fortunate to have these memories. Reading your recap and your feelings is touching and David’s heartfelt performance is so tender.

Betsy, Thanks for a great article! I’m right there with you! David gave and has given me more than I really deserve. I couldn’t be more excited for him and his future. (Ours too!)
He’s had to make decisions throughout his career that took a lot of guts! All the while staying true to himself, his faith, and his family. If he can touch others hearts with these kinds of behaviors than at least those lives will be enriched as much as mine has. It’s most definately a “good place” to be!
P.S. I’m finding myself hooked on “This Christmas”. I get my daily fix…numerous times!

Beautifully written Betsy! I had the good fortune of being at Stroudsburg & experiencing all those same feelings. There was just something different/something special about him whether on or off stage. It was as if he wanted to give us the very best memory he could so that we could hang on to it until he returns & that’s exactly what I intend to do.

We are blessed indeed.

That is why at first I could not bring myself to watch the videos, hear his voice, or see his face, hand, shoes lol But I really couldn’t without falling apart because even through videos I feel his emotions. Now strangely enough when I made myself watch the announcement video I cried but his crying made me hurt, I don’t want David to cry, feel sad about anything. So I watched and watched all the videos from the night and they brought me comfort, they soothed my soul. Healed again by his voice.

Great News!
(This is Amy) What wonderful news we got yesterday that the scan was all clear! I know that there were many prayers said on mom’s behalf. I am so grateful for that. For the breast cancer, she will follow-up with Dr. Stinnett every three months to get blood work done. For the lung cancer, she will get a CT scan every 6 months. We are so thrilled and relieved that it was clear – no metastatic disease. What a wonderful blessing! Thanks to all you dear friends for your continual love and support and prayers. You know how much she loves you 🙂

Betsy, you’ve put into words the feelings that I’ve felt since Dec. 19, 2011, and being in that audience–totally unprepared for what was coming. What a night! The joy, the excitement, and The Voice! I’ve listened to David’s music and watched the videos since that night. I have had lots of tears. Tears of joy and sadness–sometimes at the same time. I am, however, at a point of real gratitude for and towards David. I’m grateful that he has the strength and the courage to follow his heart and the Spirit that is guiding him. I’m grateful that he has the strength and the courage to show the industry that he is who he is, and they can just eat rocks if they think they are going to push him into something else. I grateful that his strength and courage have become such an example to me in the last four years. I look at life in a different way now.
Yeah, I’ll be right there with the rest of you ‘flailers’….waiting and watching. The candle will burn. ♥♥

Oh Boy No kidding! I can’t wait to see how David does with this acting gig. Hope he is getting some helpful advice, with this ‘crash course’ ! 🙂 Read that he has had a script for awhile, so guess that is what he is getting help with.Gotta love him♥and love that he is taking this on, so proud of him♥ and really excited for him too!
Sure hope we get a vlog from him, (even just a little itty bitty one please David pretty please?) before he leaves,he is gonna be sooo busy while he is there.

You are so right Betsy! Although I couldn’t attend any of his MKOC shows –I felt the love through the screen. And we have so much to be thankful for–just think if we had our hearts stolen by him only just a year ago, we wouldn’t have all the wonderful times with each other here and in chat–nor all the hundreds of videos, interviews and vlogs to enjoy–over and over –until he comes back.. We have had the privilege of watching him grow from a shy boy- from the “death grip” on the mike–barely moving–to the Falalala dancing and LDB. We have a treasure trove of good things he has given us over these past four years– and enjoy them we will!!! And wait!
I will flail along side the rest of you–now where did I put my water wings?
Now I want to hear him say ” Hi guys, its David here” before he leaves for the Philippines. Am I spoiled??? Nah!!

I remember the first time I met him years ago in Bossier City, La. on the idol tour. It was at the end of the barricade, and I suddenly found myself the last fan standing with him looking right at me. I was so star struck, lol and while on voice rest, not able to speak, he waited for me. I couldn’t speak either or move, just stood there like a statue of a deer caught in headlights. What got to me days later and made me break down sobbing in my office at work was that he waited. He could have just turned and walked away but he waited till I came to myself and, trying to hide my embarrassment, fumbled for my camera and took his picture. I think of that to this day. How kind of him and how patient to do that for one fan. He didn’t have to do it, but he did. Like you, Betsy, I felt the gratitude wash over me as I wept in thankfulness that God had brought this sweet soul into my life.
I think this MKOC tour was a gift to his fans. Something he didn’t have to do, but he did because he cares for us and wanted to give us something to hold on to while we wait. A long time ago, he waited for me at the end of a barricade when he could have walked away, and I will wait for him, however long it takes.

I have made many mp3’s of Good Place/ Let It Be sung at many VIP’s. But I only have this version on my iPod. When David plays and sings, it’s straight from his heart and soul. You can feel the passion that comes from his performance.

Forget the PX90 workout, or whatever its called.Watching this ‘full body” video you can see he is toning up the muscles here for sure, no wonder he has such strong looking thighs! He tenses up those thigh muscles as he does the deep knee bends,tightens his gluts bending backwards…those arm muscles when he squeezes out the most from a note with his clenched fist and his conviction ,and tightens up his abs with every long note he holds. ♪♫ Ford eeeeeeverrrry streeeeeeee-e-e-eeam!!!♫♪

Jan sent me a gazillion pics of her trip here in S.L. She is truly awesome with a camera. 99% of the pictures are of David. On stage and at the VIP. There are so many tears among them, but even those make me happy because I feel his happiness in his tears. Not sure I can make it to work tomorrow, with so much to look at tonight. Overdose of eye candy must be on the list of acceptable excuses.
TY for the candle in the window and the kitty on her perch. I appreciate the kindred spirits of those who fret over David’s travels and adventures.

Lord,
Please take care of David. Watch over him and protect him from all harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with people who will love and support him unconditionally as we do and always will.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he’s weary and stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt and give him joy when he feels sad.
Keep him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey to the Philippines.
Keep David and and his voice healthy & strong as he continues to fulfill his Destiny.
May he continue to encounter goodwill and happiness wherever his life’s journey takes him.
And please Lord, give us the wisdom to do right by David always.
Help us in the way we support him so that it is always in his best interests.

Song of the Night: David Archuleta – Elevator
Off a his sophomore album The Other Side of Down, the song of the night, a song that’s been stuck in my head all day, is David Archuleta’s “Elevator.” Written in 30 minutes about a dream he had, I feel like this song never got the recognition it deserved back in 2010 when it was released.
The simplicity and realness that this song carries makes it enjoyable, while the inspiring lyrics and cute tune make the song so inspiring and so ‘David’. Some people may see this song as just a song about an elevator going up and down, but if you really pay attention to the lyrics, you’ll realize that the song is about life. There’s ups and downs, but it’s the butterflies that keep you feeling alive.
This song is clever and fun, and is, in my opinion, the hidden gem of David’s album. You can watch David perform the song live for Z100 below:

I’m blown away by these three videos! The respect, the care, the love for David on the part of the fans and crew is so palpable you can reach out and touch it. They are over the moon excited for David’s arrival and that he actually agreed to the acting job.
I heard last night that his arrival in Manila would be 4:00 or 5:00 Eastern time…which would be any time soon but I just saw on Twitter that David’s flight is delayed. Safe travels and arrival, David!

Thank you, Dakgal for the weather update for the Philippines.
My daughter flew into San Juan this afternoon – not as warm there, with chance of rain and 73 degrees. I tracked her flight and now await David’s arrival. And, what a reception that is going to be!!
Also, a special thanks to Abrra (for your email to me) and others here at the Voice for your calm reassurances (the kitty and the prayers) when I’m anxious for loved ones who are aboard planes.
Also, some thoughts #60.
Remember at the Skate for the Heart show in Youngstown, Ohio, when Joannie Rochette skated up to David after the MKOP performance and hugged him? It was a very special moment (saved for TV) that we all could share in… through her.
Now, after viewing the video of Jasmine and Eula, we surely can experience another connection to David… through them. They are so excited – smiling and saying “Thank you.” Isn’t that the feeling from all of us, too! Makes me giggle as well!!

A hero’s welcome!
Interviewed immediately after getting off plane, the press were there to greet him along with hundreds of fans. David stopped to take pics with his co-stars and with so many fans. Wish I could have captured more than this one pic but I’ll search for more on Twitter.

My heavens. Home tonight, just popping in for a quick check, and I see wonderful news for Pattirae (so happy for you and your family), a vlog with 80,000 hits, airport looooove, full body video, my favorite, favorite version of Elevator ever (there is another youtube of that performance with over 120,000 hits, just thought I’d mention it), mention of more recording and appearances, full body video, an incredibly sweet visit with incredibly sweet Phyliss, love and respect and admiration from a beautiful filipino fanbase, photo/1 – is that shoulder really that big. Nah, can’t be, must be the stripes – and what…a love triangle! David, David, David.
Meanwhile, I have been listening to this in my car over and over, He makes listening to this a religious experience.
and then when I’m not listening to that I am listening to this:
That “live” at 1:13 kills me, 3:06-3:35 sublime, and every time he sings “he smiled at me.”
So grateful to be a speck in the Archuniverse.

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE, 12:30 p.m.) International pop star and American Idol Season 7 finalist David Archuleta arrived in Manila via Philippine Airlines early morning Friday, his fourth visit to Manila, to do a primetime series for TV5.
He will be shooting for TV5 a primetime television series with homegrown Kapatid stars Jasmin Curtis Smith and Eula Caballero.
“Hello, Manila and thanks for the warm welcome, I’m back in the Philippines and excited for that and I just can’t wait and see some of my fans,” he said upon his arrival at NAIA Terminal 2.
Archuleta, who turned 21 just last December 28, has been one of the most exciting young singer-songwriters in America since placing second in the 2008 running of American Idol, the hugely popular singing competition in the United States.
The baby-faced crooner’s first visit in the country was in 2009 for his concert with Idol Season 7 champ David Cook followed by a November 2010 visit to promote his album, “The Other Side Of Down.” He returned to the country on July 18, 2011 for a solo concert and today his fourth visit in Manila signing up with TV5 for a TV series.
At around lunch, Archuleta signed his contract with TV5 in the presence of TV5 president and CEO Ray C. Espinosa and executive vice president and chief operating officer Bobby V. Barreiro.
The signing of Archuleta is seen to further boost the attempts of TV5, currently the third biggest broadcasting network in the Philippines, to climb up the rankings. (InterAksyon.com is the online news portal of TV5.)
He will be in Manila to link up with his legions of fans and to promote his upcoming TV series.
