David Archuleta ~ Wait, Wait, Wait, Don’t Go

Article submitted by MT
Emotions have been running high throughout the fan base since David announced that he has elected to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I felt much the same as most of you when I heard the news. At first I couldn’t believe my ears. Then, when I realized I wasn’t just hearing things, that he had actually said those words, I kind of went into shock. Then I wanted to use his own lyrics and tell him; “Wait, wait, wait don’t go!” Is that a little crazy? Maybe. But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. It has taken me a long time to come to grips with it. But after thinking long and hard about it, I think I have finally made my own peace with it. And I’d like to tell you why.
As much as I will miss David during the two years he will be on his mission, I think it will benefit him in so many ways. I’m happy for him; happy that he’s made this decision because I think it’s what he really, really needed to do.
I love David. He is a unique individual and an enormously talented young man. He is also one of the kindest, most loving, giving individuals I have ever come across. There is an incredible beauty in his spirit that is absolutely undeniable. You can both see it and hear it when he sings. It is his nature to give, to want to do for others, to help heal the hurts, to encourage those who have dreams. And he has already done this for more people than he could possibly ever know. It is ‘who he is’ and I couldn’t be more proud of him if he was my own son.
Now, I am going to venture out into dangerous territory with an opinion that I realize many may disagree with. But I feel a need to say this because it’s part of why I think he needs to do this for himself.
I think there are some things that have held David back in his career. And I think needing to serve a mission was a large part of it. By not going on a mission at an earlier age, in trying to do a mission through music instead, I believe there were certain standards that he felt he needed to meet in his behavior and his music during the last few years. His career was being driven by an idea of how it could be used to help others rather than being focused on success in the music industry. Don’t get me wrong! I’m not saying it’s a bad thing! But it’s my firm belief that David’s focus has been divided, not allowing him to give himself fully to one or the other.
For this reason, I think he needs to go. I think he’s right in doing what his heart has been telling him all along he needed to do, commit himself fully to serving others for a time.
I don’t believe for one minute that David will ever be less caring or loving or kind than he is now. I don’t believe he will ever want to stop supporting various charities, especially those that benefit children, or wanting to accomplish something good with his music. This is something I love about him. But (and this may sound selfish) I am hoping to see one change in David when he returns.
You see, as a fan, I can’t help but hope there is another benefit to it for him. A side effect if you will. My hope is that upon completion of his mission, he will finally allow himself to focus on his career and on his success in the music industry, that he will finally feel that he has served his Heavenly Father well and will now allow himself to have a desire for success without feeling that it’s wrong to want it. Because I don’t think it is. Am I wrong because I want him to want it for himself?
Let me ask a question to all of you reading this. Do you really believe that David will ever have the success that his great talent deserves without truly wanting it? Can ANYONE ever truly be successful without really wanting it?
I don’t think so. And I don’t think he’ll let himself want to do something for himself until he is satisfied that he has done what he can for others first. So I hope we can all let David go and do what he must, do what his heart is telling him to do without worrying about us.
We will miss him more than he could ever know but we’ll be okay. We’ll go on with our lives while keeping him in our hearts and keeping a close eye out for any news of him, waiting as patiently as we can for his return.
May God bless him and keep him safe and healthy while he is away.
Time will pass quickly as we keep David close by revisiting the past through his videos and songs (and maybe even some new songs released while he’s gone) while he moves towards his future. When he’s ready to come home, I’ll be here waiting to see what surprises he has in store for us. I hope you will be, too.

MT…hold on those lovely thoughts!!
We are all following a dream that is certain and we should I suppose hold on to the present, love the past and give hope for the future. But I have learnt a few things from this fine fellow and that is we follow our dreams but he will follow his and they may take him just about anywhere. He was on a charted course and took another road so that is a lesson for me at this time. He could take yet another road and I keep that close by in my thoughts and in my realities. Hey, but in my dreams let’s say, he returns.

Get out of my brain, MT! Great article! I have never been able to shake the feeling that David didn’t want his career to take off, that he was putting the brakes on it. Then I would tell myself that the idea was silly. I do feel that this mission is important to David on many levels, and I hope when he returns he stills wants to do mainstream music.
SB-“He could take yet another road and I keep that close by in my thoughts and in my realities.” Me too.
Good day to all!

You have nailed it!
“I think there are some things that have held David back in his career. And I think needing to serve a mission was a large part of it. By not going on a mission at an earlier age, in trying to do a mission through music instead, I believe there were certain standards that he felt he needed to meet in his behavior and his music during the last few years. ”
When his label tried to make him into a “heartthrob” they were forcing him into a role he did not see for himself. It stropped being about the music (on the label’s part) and more about the fame. By not supporting his music to help him get his message out, the label forced his hand to change his direction. His mission in music was not going to happen. The only alternative was to go back to his roots and do a proper church mission. In doing so he will satisfy his heart’s desire to serve others in a meaningful way.
I am in agreement with what you wrote here:
“…he will finally allow himself to focus on his career and on his success in the music industry, that he will finally feel that he has served his Heavenly Father well and will now allow himself to have a desire for success without feeling that it’s wrong to want it. Because I don’t think it is. Am I wrong because I want him to want it for himself?”
It’s not about US. It’s about David’s life and the path he chooses to lead. You are correct. Its what he wants at this time. He will be back with a clear vision of his “sound” that he spoke of in his blogs. It’s no wonder he was saying he couldn’t finish a song. Until he listened to his heart, he wasn’t going to finish.
Thank you MT for a rational, well done article. I enjoy what you have to say. 🙂

MT, great article and great observations! Perhaps the changes we saw in his final performances of the Christmas tour mirror a level of peace that he felt in knowing he no longer had this conflict to struggle with. Having settled on a mission, he could free himself to let out the true performer in him. “This Christmas” at SLC showed such a free and unencumbered David and I think you hit on the reason why. He needs to do his mission in a concentrated and separate way and this will satisfy him to go on and do his career (I hope).

Perfectly said MT. I think David has been dealing with the issue of how was he going to “serve his mission”,and have a music career at the same time, since A.I. put him in the world spotlight.
I think we witnessed a different David on this MKOC tour. He opened himself up like I have never seen him do before. He was incredible in every way. Now I think it was because the conflicts in his heart, were finally resolved. And that leads me to believe
he will be a force to be dealt with when he returns.’Music runs through his veins.’

I agree that the mission has been the “monkey on his back.” He grew up in the religion and has had many cousins, other relatives, and friends who have done (or are currently doing) missions. It is all around him.
I am hoping for a comeback, but am also trying to be realistic that he may come back in a totally different direction or may opt for a local music career or even a church career.

I’ve taken a half step back, because I don’t know the future and feel that I should grow myself, in this time. I doubt I could, fully, if I tried to hang on too tightly. However. I listened to some of TOSOD on my drive this morning and his voice still sounds better than any I’ve heard, his spirit is about as sweet as I’ve sensed and he’s just so compelling. I was always going to keep hold of him, just a lighter one.
MT, your thoughts ring true to me and I thank you for the note of optimism. I’ve felt, myself, that the mission could help because he’ll mature through it and offer a perspective that most singer-songwriters cannot. I noticed, too, on the mcok tour, that he seemed freer, in ways. More intense, more dynamic, more flirty, even. A hint of things to come… ??
Holy guacamole I’d better examine my goal list and add, “PREPARE!” to it, and start now, so I’ll be ready!

Great article MT!! To quote a friend: “He’s a very selfless and generous young person” “What a wonderful voice” (shared excerpts from her letter after hearing GCT on previous thread) Other people are seeing what we see.
Even though I will feel the loss, I think this is definitely what David needs to do at this time in his life. I heard him say it. “I’m going to tell it to the judges and make sure they understand it” type of conviction.

MT, great article! I have had these very same feelings for a while, and think you are spot on. As I said in a previous comment, my own 2 children that served missions and returned this past year have resumed their prior endeavors, but with an even greater passion, commitment, and enjoyment. Although I think that his desire for good music and lyrics and a spiritual connection will always be there and that he will always believe that his talent is a gift from God, I think he will feel much freer to pursue a career in music when he returns…and not always wonder if he is doing enough to adequately fulfill a mission through his music.
Sky you are so right…we all noticed a powerful new freedom and passion in his performance on his Christmas tour. “I think we witnessed a different David on this MKOC tour. He opened himself up like I have never seen him do before. He was incredible in every way. MT, wow, you have a way with words. My heart was racing when I read your article, because, as Abrra said in #4, “You nailed it”. Thank you for putting your thoughts into words for us.
I remember right after AI, before The Voice came to be, when The David Chronicles and Snarky Archies were the websites I obsessively read, I thought to myself, “David is going to be so famous–what a talent.” And, I wanted it so badly for him. I kept hearing Paula’s words in my head, echoing, “You are destined for super stardom. I can’t wait.” But, through this journey, I have always felt that he was not “going for it”, or he would have it. Something definately is holding him back.
I love the question you posed: “Let me ask a question to all of you reading this. Do you really believe that David will ever have the success that his great talent deserves without truly wanting it? Can ANYONE ever truly be successful without really wanting it?”
It’s a great question, and in my opinion the answer is “no”.

I lurk here all the time and love this site. I email with Abrra but I haven’t posted here because, to be honest, I’m intimidated by all the great writers and that you all know each other. But Abrra said I should post this, so here goes.
I think fans project what they want onto what they think David should want. I don’t think he’ll ever be in the music business for the money or the fame. Even after his mission he’ll still be in it because he loves music and he’s using his gift from God in the way he thinks God wants him to use it to better other people. I don’t think his priorities will be any different when he returns. I do think that he has been conflicted about wanting to go on a mission or staying and doing music and now that he’s made his decision he is completely happy. He was totally surprised when I talked to him in Beaver Creek that people would think he’d give up music. That never crossed his mind. When he returns he will do music. That is the other part of his life. We have always known he is a religious man. He will never be mainstream music because he won’t sing songs or act like mainstream performers. He will continue to do songs with positive messages and behave in the way he feels is right. Just my opinion, of course.

As I said to you privately, you have something to share. I enjoyed hearing that you got a chance to get some face time with David at the BC concert. As far a him being mainstream , I am happy with whatever he chooses to sing. I know it comes from his heart. His music has served him well and I know he will always have the chance to sing for us. I don’t care what “wrapper” it comes in, I will buy it and enjoy it. His voice is so special. 🙂

SB,
“Hey, but in my dreams let’s say, he returns.” << LOL Oh yes! In my dreams too! I hope he comes back ready to go for it and SING!! (And I want him to sing in Mississippi! Of course that’s just me. Haha And maybe Angelica)
Sky,
“since A.I. put him in the world spotlight.” << David once said that AI caused him to do things in reverse. I think you’re right, this is his way of putting things back into the right order, starting with completing a mission. THEN a career in music.
Kaycee,
“As I said in a previous comment, my own 2 children that served missions and returned this past year have resumed their prior endeavors, but with an even greater passion, commitment, and enjoyment.” << ♥ This makes me feel so good about it. I really hope his is happy on his mission and returns with a renewed zest for singing and for life in general. This could definitely be the “silver lining hiding in the grey.” 🙂

MT— Thank you for your article.–What you have written makes total sense to me—-and I have several thoughts on the subject, but can’t seem to put them together as clear as you have.
I don’t know if David is ever going to feel “worthy” of the recognition and fruits that come along with a successful career and that plays into the —-does he “want this” question. I hope David can learn some self esteem
and confidence on this mission, and put an end to the self inflicted put downs.
You are right –he has kept himself pretty tightly reined and tethered, whether that will change—who knows,
but maybe interacting and observing other young men his age, daily, and getting their perspective on life will be of a benefit. So many things about David are a mystery to us, as they should be.
From the last thread– Dear Grumpy Abrra
I couldn’t agree with you more about the Jazzy text– what ever happened to respecting other peoples property?
I thought I was the only crab pot around , so I didn’t say anything–so thanks!!

MT, thank you for your sharing your thoughts on David leaving for a mission. For me there is no doubt that this is an integral part of David’s growth at this time. I do not know if he will ever desire to be the “rock star”, but there is no way one could separate David from his music. Music, faith and beauty of spirit are ingrained in his being. We are so fortunate.
SB, I loved your “we are mere enthusiastic fans who can’t put the good book down”. You give me a picture of myself reading the pages of David’s life book day by day, always waiting for the next chapter. A book with no ending, for I expect David to be here long after I leave. And I am content with the role of the reader, for I would not want to impose my wishes on David’s life.
Thanks to all of you wonderful people here. David does have the bestest fans. I miss the close contact we have enjoyed when meeting together. This is surely the next best thing. I am so grateful for the inhabitants of this place.

Nicely written, though I don’t agree completely. I believe that success is defined differently by different people. I don’t think David defines his success by how high his songs are on the charts or by how much money he makes. But, of course, I’m speculating – only David really knows what drives him 🙂
I love The Voice – y’all are KILLER writers!

oops, one more comment…….I do believe you are right in that David wasn’t ready for “superstardom.” He’s admitted as much in COS. He said he didn’t feel equipped to be THE AMERICAN IDOL and I believe was quite relieved when Cook won. I think that he has felt inadequate much of the time, until maybe this past year when he took control of the reins. I’m so proud of him for that, and I believe that has what has allowed him to make this choice for himself. He always said he thought his music career would be 10 years or so, down the road. So I’m certain he always thought he’d serve a mission, go to school, get married, etc before he made this effort at a career. But I’m glad he has learned, no doubt whatsoever, that his voice, his music, DOES MATTER. I think it’s so cool after the heartbreak he experienced with his vocal paralysis, that he KNOWS NOW, that he was gifted with this voice for a very special reason.

Dak, Abs, SB and others,
You’re not alone about Jazzy and David’s Twitter account. David’s career is a business and should be treated as such, with respect by his siblings. His Twitter account isn’t a computer game to be toyed with. I remember going to my father’s office with him on Saturdays when I was a child. I sat at his desk, used his phone to call my friends and pretended to do some work. I had carte blanche of the supplies but many things were off limits to me like files and books.
MT,
I love your approach in this article. You may be right; perhaps David needs to “let go” in order to come back fully. I guess this remains to be seen in the years ahead. One thing I feel certain of is that he will be back doing music. It’s in his blood. I don’t care in what capacity he sings, whether it’s where he left off or doing Christian songs…as long as I could hear his voice, I’ll be happy.

What is upsetting you, dear? He is going to do that mini series. It’s one of the projects that he has to do before leaving. Otherwise he would have gone already, right? And if he doesn’t, then its ok, too. He is going to to be happy to leave us with some special music to listen to while he is away. We don’t know what kind of mission he will be doing. It might even surprise us 🙂

I’ve always felt that he wanted to do formal mission, but I was hoping he would continue touching people with his singing and his person the way he’s been doing. He has given so much of himself. I think you’re right that he can’t fully let go until he follows his heart and goes for these 2 years. I have no doubt that he will come back stronger and more sure of himself. He knows his voice is a gift and he will want to continue sharing it with others. I say bring it on, no matter how he does it.

I have really enjoyed reading all of the comments on this article. MT, great article, by the way. I agree with everything in it.
Something I just happened to remember was the speech he gave a couple of years ago at the Mormon Women’s Conference, hosted by Sen. Orin Hatch. He talked about how much trouble he has making decisions, and went on to prove it by trying to decide which song to sing. I can only imagine how much he struggled with this decision about leaving his career and his fans for 2 years. Now that he’s made the commitment to serve the mission, I would think he’s so relieved to have the decision process over with. When he comes back, he will be able to concentrate on his career and other aspects of his life. He’s such an amazing young man. I just wish him the best of everything in this life. If talent and goodness are rewarded, he will have more success than he can imagine.

I spent the last 4 hours helping my 10 year old daughter prepare a class presentation on Dr. Seuss! We researched some of his famous quotes, and I couldn’t help noticing that so many of them apply to what is going on with David.
1. “Why fit in, when you were born to stand out.”
2. “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so…get on your way!”
3. ” You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where you’ll go.”
4. “Be who you are and say what you feel.”
5. “I meant what I said, and I said what I meant!”
6. “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” (5’7″ perhaps!…haha, couldn’t resist!)
7. “Don’t cry because it’s over (can I just say ‘on hold’), smile because it happened.”

Wonderful post I agree with you. I wish him greater success though I don’t know if fame or fortune will ever be important to David. What I hope is that he will feel one big weight is off of his shoulders and feel more free to enjoy music and his career.
I know he’ll be older and more grown up when he gets back but I hope he retains his wonderful sense of humor and the wide-eyed wonderful way he enjoys life.

I wish I could add something meaningful and profound but I can’t find the words.
As I read MT’s article, I thought there were so many valid & sensible points. All the comments are all insightful, making me feel better but at the same time I’m even more selfish in me wanting to push time forward three or four years, giving David time to decompress & come to terms that his fans are all still here & waiting to hear THE VOICE on stage once again and when we get word that a tour is in the works!
That is what my mind is concentrating on. The future, because the here & now is still like a dream and I still find myself in a fog if I think too much about David leaving in a few months. I also find great comfort going into my “Favorites” on YouTube and reliving the reasons why David became and is an integral part of my daily life. I have all his music on my ipod to listen to at work, but actually seeing David in action on videos from his AI days to his MKOC in the privacy of my home allows me to laugh or cry, whatever strikes me.
Off to work. Have a good day everyone.

Violet4ever…I hope as well that he retains the way he looks at many things in life including the easy going, happy personality. It will change him for certain. I often discussed going to concerts and making the choices of how many to see while away, with SF. I always had in the far recesses of my mind (no comments Abs!!) to go to as many as possible while there, driven perhaps by the notion that it may sometime soon be over and how long can this wonderful adventure really last? Hopefully through our travels we have brought home some of the sheer delight that we experienced and took pictures of especially during the concerts that did not have leaving attached to the footnotes.

i do the same. I think to the time when he comes back. We don’t know how much we will be informed of while he is away. We are fortunate to have a record of the past to keep him ever present.

Good Morning All…I am one of the intimated lurkers, but love hearing all of your positive reflections about David and his music. There are so many great writers!!! It is so warm and cozy here. Thank you for the encouragement to “delurk”! I think chatting with others right now in positive ways is exactly what we all need and should be doing to support David and his family.
MT—I just loved reading your thoughts and feel that going on a mission is something that has always been in his heart. Kinda like an “itch” that needs scratched”…it is pretty hard to direct your energies fully until that itch gets scratched!! This is a great time in his life to do this too! I am happy for the time he will share with so many others….spreading his light and spirit. I have no doubt that he will be back to his music…it is part of his DJA! His music and his heart will only be enhanced because of this experience….in my opinion. (If that is even possible)!!!
I absolutely LOVE quotes. I grew up with a father who recited quotes daily. lol Being a retired elementary teacher …I really relate to Dr. Suess and Winnie the Pooh quotes. I made a Pooh Room for my “grands” and have Pooh quotes painted on the walls. I love the wisdom of these characters…for children and the “childlike” like ourselves. Thank you Kaycee for writing them down for us. They are all my favorites and so appropriate for the next leg of David’s journey!
Thanks to everyone who comes here and adds to the ” homey” feel of this “good place”. It is really fun to come here.
I will leave you all with a Pooh quote from our “Pooh” room.
“When friends are near…bothers disappear”

Let’s stick together…it really helps!
Now off to begin my day!!! Keep the light on for David and all his wonderful fans! Have a great day! 🙂

Hope you share more often…and by the way, I LOVE “Pooh-isms” as well! Sorry…you got me started…
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we’re apart.. I’ll always be with you.”

Been looking back at some youtubes – this one from Bonnie Hunt show is fun. Late in the interview she asks him the girlfriend question and he says it would be nice to have someone to share all this with. Well, as far as we know, he set that aside. Maybe after these next two years, it will happen.

Hi all. I just finished watched a video of David singing “The Christmas Song” at Irving Plaza, a show that I was lucky to attend. Every time I watch and hear one of David’s magnificent performances from this tour, the thought that he will not be doing this for the next two years makes me sick to my stomach. No matter how David’s Mission is explained and/or celebrated by those who will miss him the most, the fact is that David’s absence will create an irreplaceable void in the spiritual and aesthetic fabric of our world. This kind of greatness should not be on hold for 2 minutes, much less 2 years.

Somehow Bliss, I don’t think that this is all that will be as the months go by. I take contentment myself in the feeling that David will not be away from the world of music as it seems senseless for starters. I have faith in that. My faith is based on what is good for mankind, extrordinary and beyond this world as we know it. Oh and David is in that extrordinary world no matter what anyone is saying because his life hasn’t been written in any recent book. You, may need to borrow Abrra’s decoder to understand me. Bliss, I’d love to hug you right now! I’m so glad you are posting again, you don’t even know. I am equally heartbroken. David will not be singing for us live for at least two years, but his greatness could never be put on hold. He takes it with him everywhere. Rumor says that some music will be released while he is away. And that WE WILL get updates from his team about him. He’ll be somewhere else for a long while, but he could never possibly be very far away. His presence in our hearts is as real as the sun, and his gifts can be enjoyed whenever we turn on his music or watch a video. It isn’t live, it isn’t the same I know, but it is something. I’ll miss the tweets and video blogs so much, I have cried and cried for hours. I have worried about his safety. I have been mourning the loss of something as if it is gone, but it really isn’t. The daily routine will change. Our detailed knowledge of his every move will be no more. We don’t need this information because we are stalkers, but as concerned family members. Be it right or wrong, crazy, misunderstood, inexplicable, different or a blessing, this fandom loves him as a brother, son, best friend, ideal partner, grandson, you name it. Family members move, leave, get ill, transfer jobs, get in arguments, and the whole family is affected. We each deal with these things differently. In the end, we are still a family, and are all together whether it be physically or in the heart. I hope we all find a way to keep David in our hearts as we pass these upcoming months together. Once you have loved him, there can be no void, he fills up all the spaces.

The Other Side of Down (Asian Tour Edition) CD/DVD
David Archuleta
Sony Music
DAVID Archuleta is now unbelievably …22! This Asian Tour Edition is a feel-good offering from the Season 7 American Idol (2007-2008) sweetheart, who entered our homes through the telly at 16.
The CD has hits including My Kind of Perfect, Parachutes and Airplanes, the title track, Something ‘Bout Love and Elevator in the 12 tracks. Bonus tracks are four new songs including Love Don’t Hate and Wait.
The DVD is a four-song karaoke bonus including Crush, A Little Too Not Over You and shows video footages of Touch My Hand.
Archuleta released his video on Wait only last month. Premiered on Channel V, it was shot in Hong Kong, and Archuleta looks a little older as he sings: “Even though you are gone, I can hear your heart”.
The clean-living singer says he’s taking a break from music to be a Mormon missionary. His Asian Tour Edition, which comes with a booklet of lyrics and images, will keep fans occupied for a while as we wait (wink, wink!)

David’s music is the primary tool he uses to communicate with others. It is where he is the most comfortable and most confident. It is where he is able to transcend his innate humility and modesty to get his feelings and thoughts across, and how he shares his message of acceptance and inclusion. Asking David to get his message across without music is like asking Rembrandt to get his message across without painting. David is an extraordinary person, and a significant force for good and decency in a world adrift in both those areas. To have that silenced for two years to do what thousands of other young men without that gift have done and can do now is to deny David’s uniqueness and potential. There is something terribly wrong with a society that encourages extraordinary people to feel that they must prove how ordinary they are. Babe Ruth didn’t sell peanuts at Yankee Stadium, even though he was able to do so. He was that very special person who could hit the home runs and get people to love baseball and enrich their lives by coming out to see the games. Somebody needs to convince David that it’s Ok to be Babe Ruth, and he doesn’t need to prove to us that he’s just like everybody else, because he’s not, and it’s a good thing.
This site is called “The Voice” not because David enjoys singing in the shower, it’s because he can sing like no other person on earth can sing, and he changes lives every time he opens his mouth to do so.

It will be said that his voice is not going to be quieted that those who have not heard him in some remote place or some gsthering or foreign couontry or meeting place will have him sing for them and this is understood quite well. MT,
You have good instincts and understanding of the human condition which for any writer, is a very good thing to have. I think your insight is spot on; this is something he has to do. He has tried to make music his “mission” when it was meant to be his passion. I think he has known this for a long time and when he returns he will continue to use his gift to inspire and uplift, but with a new freedom to grow and explore his art in ways he would not allow himself before.

Your article came at just the right time. It’s been roughly 2-3 weeks since we heard the news of David’s mission and our feelings are all over the place. We’re all feeling the same but not necessarily at the same time. Some feel anger, sadness, disappointment while others are ready to accept. Your article helps sort our our feelings; thank you.
I’m finally entering the acceptance stage but I can fall from it very easily. What would make me feel better is hearing that David won’t be doing the ordinary door to door mission and instead will be going to different hospitals, sing to the patients and eventually save their lives through his gift of song.
Welcome to the new posters and de-lurkers. It is a pleasure to hear from so many fans with different points of view as well as from those who are in total agreement with each other.

For anyone who may be interested, This is a video about an in-depth look at what David will experience when he goes to the Missionary Training Center before embarking on his Mission. Interesting and a real eye-opener. As I watched I couldn’t help but wonder WHERE do all these young men & women come from? Because this is not the only center. I was thinking too, that among all the other young people at his center, David will seem to be no different or more special than the all the others…except he is!
I was also wondering if he will actually announce the date he will arrive at his MTC, but somehow I kind of doubt it as it will be a very emotional day for him and his family, especially his parents. I don’t think he would want some ninjas videotaping that most pivotal day in his life, unless it’s for his own family to have as a memento. I guess we will find out soon enough.

MT, can’t tell you how much I enjoyed your article and perspective, the heartfelt comments it has created, along with the new faces, visions of us all in our water wings, and Pooh.
I feel, too, that serving this mission will help resolve some conflicts he has been dealing with. I truly believe he wants a certain measure of success, (he has worked his doggone fanny off the last four years), but for different reasons than many. He is a giver. I think he wants his music to be a positive influence in as many lives as possible. An added benefit of that would be increased awareness and support for charities -the more people he touches through music, the more people they touch (such as the 282 children supported from the MKOC tour.)
I’m not fearful he won’t return to music, it is how he communicates, how he gives. Performing is in his blood – from his grandparents to parents and beyond. I feel he and his family realize it’s worth, how it touches people – sometimes in life altering ways. If anyone was ever born to do this, it is David James Archuleta. I see him returning with an enriched beautiful patina. I can’t wait.

SF #98 ~ thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for that video link. It caused me a few teary moments. I can’t express to you how this made me feel to watch it. Yes, I am LDS. Yes, I know what missionaries do as the embark to their called field of service. And, yes, I know that David is doing what he needs to do. But watching that video filled my heart with love and joy and peace to really realize that he is entering into a realm that cannot be entered into in any other way. He is allowing himself to become free from the secular part of his world in order to achieve what he needs to spiritually, in order to become the person that he wants to be. He is tuned, if you will, to the radio waves that will guide him into a more mature, sharp-minded, able to make major decisions, and stand for what he believes in type of man. We are going to witness something so beautiful when he gets back. I just know it. Yes (x a gazillion), I will be here for the next 2+ years! ♥♥

Hi All!!
Delurker here!!! I have been gone all day…came home and read wonderful comments from this and other sites….wrote a long rambling comment to all here and then POOOOOF….it dissappeared to cyber space somewhere!! Don’t know what in the world happened. I am a klux sometimes and mostly don’t know what I am doing with this techy stuff! I guess the long rambly comment was not meant to be!! (Your gain!)
I just wanted to thank Abbra for the very nice welcome picture!! How did you know that was the one where he was pointing at me? lol
SandyB and Kaycee—OH MY….I am excited to have fellow fans who love Pooh as much as I!
Kaycee I love all the quotes you posted, and SB that video was sooooo precious and appropriate!! I had never seen that one before, but will watch that one over and over again so that I can remember: ” As long as we are apart together…we will certainly be fine!” —-Pooh
Watching the MTC video was amazing. I am really excited about David being able to share time now with other young men and women. I think the growth that will come from this experience will be life changing in many different ways. I feel in my heart … it will be something that will shape David’s future in such a blessed way. Thinking about all the people he will meet and lives he will touch in the way that he has touched our lives… makes me really happy. It won’t be a walk in the park…but David has always handled everything we have seen him face…with such class. This is something I feel he was meant to do.
Watching that video, and reading MT’s comments were very helpful to me.
So many fans are at various stages of adjusting to David’s mission. No fan is created equal, and no feeling about this is right or wrong….it is what it is. It takes more time for some than others. Some may think they have it all figured out, and then bam….when he really leaves reality will set us back again.
I don’t think is is inconsistent to feel really happy for David because he is doing something that is so strong within his heart and soul….but be sad for the empty place he may be leaving in our hearts and our lives. There is no doubt that David has had such an impact on so many lives.
His inspiring music, thoughtful deeds, and unselfish, caring heart have helped so many people for various reasons. He has done this “just” by being David. No words, no lectures, just being an example of goodness to everyone he meets. Everything about him will be truly missed! However, I honestly feel that he will be back making music…for us even with more zeal, confidence, and heart than ever. How can that even be possible? It will take us two years to get ready for that transition!! lol David’s music, heart and talent will never be denied. It is the fabric of his being. It is David.
Geeesh…sorry it got rambly in spite of myself!
I will work on “saving” paper!! 🙂 Nite All!

i have this wish that the lds church would not just have him go door to door. i don’t know if this is at all possible but i hope that when david said he would still be singing while on his mission he means he would be singing to the sick and terminally ill in hospital, to the disabled, to underprivileged children, to “investigators” brought to church by other missionaries so that all who hear him would be touched by the spirit.
if not, then can he come to my country please! if he ever knocks on my door i will pull him in, sit him at my piano and make him sing angels, crazy and heaven. thank you very much! haha! my odd is making me dizzy and ditzy!

Looks like a good sized steak, grilled onions, and fries, with 2 sunny-side-up eggs(they certainly look like they haven’t been flipped)! Yowza! Now that’s an appetite!
I’d be surprised if David’s plate looked like this. He drinks almond milk, and exercises to PX90! Who knows though, he often surprises me with his appetite!
SF, I found that video to be very informative and was equally surprised by the size of it all!
I’m learning alot on this journey. How to navigate a computer, Mp3’s, embedding videos, blogging, posting videos to YouTube…and I could go on and on about the personal development happening along the way too!
We’re here for a reason. I’ve always thought that. Way back when, I questioned this whole ODD thing. I quickly realized I didn’t need a reason. I only knew it was making me follow a different mindset and my actions were more pleasing to others. So, I just go-with-the-flow. wherever that goes! 😆
Thanks for all the laughs, cries, and chair dancing! Glad to know The Voice is hangin’ in for what’s sure to be adventurous in Archu-land!

“So many fans are at various stages of adjusting to David’s mission. No fan is created equal, and no feeling about this is right or wrong….it is what it is. It takes more time for some than others. Some may think they have it all figured out, and then bam….when he really leaves reality will set us back again.”
This is so true. Thank you for your thoughts. I’m at the acceptance stage but am planning to take the day off when he leaves, that is if we get a date because if I’m a t work when I get the news I will leave.
Emmegirl, You are official so the welcome is official. You are all official, there 🙂
Fenfen,
Welcome to The Voice and thank you for delurking!!!
“i don’t know if this is at all possible but i hope that when david said he would still be singing while on his mission he means he would be singing to the sick and terminally ill in hospital, to the disabled, to underprivileged children, to “investigators” brought to church by other missionaries so that all who hear him would be touched by the spirit.”
This would be awesome. We here time and time again how the infirm and elderly are touched by David. I think this would be perfect.
Angelofdja,

Ray, says “we are the chosen ones” I don’t have any other explanation 🙂
Betsy, you may be right but I’m still with why are the plates different? One round and one oval.hmmmm what was David up to? lol

After looking at google earth pictures of Manila, pictures of Jasmin-Curtis Smith, I did a google earth move myself placing myself on stage in place of David. Time for your decoder Abrra…I was David looking so handsome, grinning at the audience with that fabulous smile, singing many of the songs I wrote or co-wrote, being backed by a fabulous band…Being loved by fans beyond any simple explanation…then I stopped and thought…it is time to move on and on and then on some more. I might not choose his exact path but he is so multiple-talented that it must be that time.

Actually, this IS David. Unpredictable and still the enigma we have all known he is.
I have always, from the first time I saw his first music video Crush, that he had it in him to be an actor if ever he wanted to go that route. He can immerse himself in “character” even if it’s far from the “real him”. We have seen it again & again from his ALTNOY music video to his latest, Wait. We have seen how well he takes direction from photographers when doing photo shoots. It’s not a s easy as it may seem, but David makes it seem easy. He has a natural ability to show certain emotions in his face. Not to mention how he transforms from just David to BIGGER THAN LIFE David on stage, when we all have sat in amazement thinking “What Just Happened? Who is this Beast on stage killing us and what did he do with the David we just saw at the VIP???
David has been bestowed with many gifts, not only a beautiful and amazing VOICE, but the looks and abilities of what it takes to be a movie star and the humbleness & humility to not even realize how truly gifted he is. He’s just been doing what he loves.
What a way to make an exit for the next two years, David on the small screen! I can’t wait until he will be on the BIG screen! But for now, I wonder what his character will be about besides that of a Filipino-American? I’m sure it will be all be in good taste and in keeping with his personal standards.
I don’t believe he is doing the mini-series to make more cash. That’s not David. We knew he had projects coming up before his mission. This is one of those projects. It does make me sad & more than a little confused about why David is recognized for the Star quality & the IT Factor he has in spades, in Asia and not in his own country.
A side note…just a thought before we get too excited. This latest news has not been posted on David’s official site and David has not yet announced a trip to the Philippines on twitter or on a vlog YET. So until that happens, I will take this news like any other..as still a rumor & not confirmed by the man himself.
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

This is an excerpt from an interview David did last summer and it makes me wonder if David thinks his Asian fans are bigger or better fans because of their reactions towards him that maybe he does not see in his US fans? Could he wonder why he doesn’t get the same enthusiatic greetings at airports when he arrives in cities in the US at any given time or when he arrives from overseas? Does he doubt our dedication? This is bothersome and I’m a little disturbed about what he said. Like he’s comparing his Asian fans to his US fans??hmmmm?
In an interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! in July 2011, David shared how much he appreciates the support he has received from his Filipino fans.
“There’s something about the fans (here) that’s just so different. They’re very energetic, enthusiastic. They’re very dedicated. It’s something that shocks and surprises me every time,” he said.”
Well now…
For a woman my age, who normally tries to be mature and age appropriate, I have done my share of acting like a teenybopper seeing her hearthrob in person for the first time..over & over & over & over….
OK, the airport greetings would be a little difficult for me to be there in person, but I’m always there in spirit letting him know how happy & relieved I am that he arrived safely. Always and he should know that!
My dedication? I am commited to follow him through thick & thin, happy & sad, ups & downs, highs & lows, in sickness & in heath til death will I part. And maybe not even then. How much more dedicated can I be? Contigo siempre..with you always, means forever David, in case you forgot your Spanish.
How can David not be shocked & surprised that someone MY AGE has the ENERGY to be as ENTHUSIASTIC & DEDICATED a fan as I am & will be forever?! I happen to think he is the miracle that made me this way!
Really Davd!

Ah, Silverfox. I’m also a “mature fan” who is very devoted to David. I’ve screamed more at concerts for him than for anyone else, ever. I can only surmise that he is speaking of the groups (Filipino fans and US fans) as a whole. I wish David was better recognized here for his immense talents and overall awesomeness, but here, things are different. In my real world, “my people” know I’m his fan but the majority of them tolerate my need to mention him. I suspect in the Philippines and other Asian countries, there’s less resistance. For whatever reason.
Gosh. Now I want to add: “visit the Philippines when David will be there for a concert” to my bucket list.

There is one thing that a star of any nature does not do and that is put one fanbase in comparrison to the other. This is where a PR person steps in and advises that there could be negative vibes from this or announces that this was simply a mistake etc. I read this when it first happened and I do hope that an advisor will make an attempt to correct the statement.
It is difficult for the fans, especially the ones his age and younger not to be hurt when there will be a lot of coverage coming our way about the fun and excitement taking place over there for the next month.
There was a good feeling for the home crowd who seem near and dearest and then today surprisingly there is another announcement with written words that cause a stir of a different nature. The guy is complex. We can’t make excuses, we just take it as it is written. Next time around, yeah for a PR person.

Its really simple. Here in the USA we have the TSA. I will admit I don’t frequent airports, but I know that the area at the gate is passenger only. Security is in place more here than in Asia. I don’t see how fans could keep up with greeting David in a big way in the USA because he travels so much and under the radar.
I am ok with him giving a positive comment about his over seas fan base.

SF,
I took that response as an observation on David’s part on how they react to him in Asia. I think they’ll react to him in the same way in the Latin countries. Remember the chase after the car after church in Honduras? On his This Christmas tour he said again and again this tour was for the fans, David sang Good Place to us in VIP as a gift to us. David didn’t have any singles to promote, he even had someone trying to stop him from doing the tour but he persevered and gave us the best Christmas gift ever. I’m still wondering who and why? As for the fans here I’ve seen nothing but an exchange of love between David and fans. In person and in video. The airport welcomes here would be impossible, I’ve actually looked into the layout and security just no way doable. But the difference I’ve noticed is the uninhibited reaction in Asia to David. Young, old, in the middle, guy, girl it doesn’t matter. We do have some (me lol) that fangirl with the best of them, though I see the looks on faces of others, maybe they’re to cool or mature to let loose? I’m not sure, it is a different culture. What I do know is that David has never picked favorites and I believe he appreciates and loves us all the same. His observations and reactions to the different type of fans is just that an observation IMHO 🙂

Oh Abrra, #150,
I was kidding on #146! Kind of. 😉
It looks to me the crowds at the Asian airports were not at the gates but in the actual terminals where people wait for arriving passengers, like they do here in most airports. The difference here & there is that the fans there always KNOW when & what time he is arriving. Not so here. Ususally he will tweet after he lands that he’s back in the US but we never know exactly where. Honestly, I think David is knows how much we adore him here.
But I still don’t think the mini-series is about making money for David. I believe he’s doing this because the reality is he wants to ACT and this is his opportunity to do so.
I believe if the reviews & critiques are positive about his ability and future as an actor after the series airs, he will seriously pursue acting when he returns. Along with his music of course. At least I hope so. But how can he not? Look at his Wait video. Look at his ALTNOY video? Or his Crush video. I’m not an expert but I know really good acting when I see it and David has IT.

Really, I was NOT criticizing David, nor would I ever, for his observations. He always says what he feels and means what he says. It doesn’t mean I think he appreciates his Asian fans more than his US fans. Not at all.
I mean, we already “got ours” from David at the MKOP Tour, now he’s doing the same for his Asian fans and maybe he will add a concert & M&G as well.
Perhaps we are all feeling a little more than melancholia and are a little sensitive about David right now.

I don’t think David meant that one group of fans is better than another. It’s not in his nature to do so. I think the journalists/interviewers try to make him say that he favors one group over the other so they might word their questions in this manner.
It can’t be easy being a celebrity and constantly worry that you might “make mistakes or say too much” or be taken the wrong way. David is often asked what is different about his Filipino fans and has to come up with an answer that indicates that he knows they’re different but at the same time not insult other fans. What he said was very true about the fans in The Philippines but I don’t think he meant that his fans in other areas of the world, including the US are any less dedicated. Perhaps what shocks him is that the dedication comes from a country that is so far away in miles.

Like Dja said, its a different culture, They have fully embraced him. That has to be a wonderful feeling for David. I’m sure it is surreal to have fans in another country show that kind of support to him.Shocking, for a young guy who considers himself just a normal person, from Murray,Utah, USA
“There’s something about the fans (here) that’s just so different. They’re very energetic, enthusiastic. They’re very dedicated. It’s something that shocks and surprises me every time,” he said.”
A few of us spoke to Jeff after the LA show in December. David wanted to do this show for his fans.It was all about thanking us for our support. (of course we did not know then about Davids decision) As we talked Jeff mentioned the Asia tour, and how blown away David was, by the fans in Asia and their support. Everywhere they went. He said “Davids fans” are the best. and I took that, as all inclusive “fans” He said its amazing to David, “a mystery to David”was actually what he said about the bond… I told him its a mystery to us too, haha! a beautiful mystery ♥! David has told us over and over , sometimes at the point of tears , how much he appreciates his ” home ” fans.
When he goes over seas, his date of arrival is well known in advance (probably leaked by his sponsors) and the greetings at airports are well orchestrated and they have had days– even months to get them together.
I’m just guessing , but I think there a just a few international airports and with the close proximity and very densely populated countries, its a lot easier to put together such well attended greetings.
I’m from the sticks , but have been in a few international airports, and can see where airport security would not have it for one second, because of how busy they are–especially in the pickup/drop off areas–cars-taxis-busses–it would cause major congestion. I have no idea , but I don’t think even your super mega, mega celebrities get such greetings upon their return home, they are whisked away to private areas. If we could I’m sure we would all like to greet David—but this is a big country and the logistics of it is impossible. Plus his arrival time is never known and he could land in L.A. or SLC or wherever he goes next, who knows.
When Davids appearances are known in advance i.e. malls -book signings, etc., he is always astonished how many people turn out —just to see him. Look at how many people hang around after a concert-for hours- just to catch a up close glimpse of him
I don’t begrudge David for telling his fans , wherever they are how much he appreciates them, and am thrilled that he has fans all over the world.

Maybe just a bit 🙂 I’ve been on defense mode since last night.
“A squeeky-clean soap…hard to imagine. David’s role will be written to suit what he does naturally. Acting is a skill, and David has very little, if any. He gives his songs a generic emotionality and conviction, which is effective in the songs that have some spiritual quality to them, but not effective in secular lovesongs. I hope there will be some clips of David’s torrid love scenes, haha!!! ”
I know I shouldn’t but sometimes some David naysayers make idiot comments like above, generic my butt, and turn me into my alter ego Michael, the archangel, to battle! hahahaha

144…I am thrilled that he is going to be spending so much time with these beautiful people.
He will have the time of his life…Prince Charming…indeed he is. As the news unfolds about his part alongside Jasmin, there will be so much to read. He always looks relaxed and happy as we have seen in other videos. They will treat the Prince like royalty wherever he goes.
I have always been amazed on how he fits into the looks of the people around him as if he is one of them. This is visit number 4 perhaps?
More professional assistance in the workings of his career will happen in time to come. If this opportunity was offered to my son I would be so happy for him. David loves to take part in the different cultures of the world.
So is everyone excited for him? There will be videos of any performances and that is much more than we thought. I wrote days ago that he isn’t gone away yet and the surprises continue…

When young people of the LDS faith receive their mission papers, there is a date included that says when they will enter the training center. For some people this date will be only weeks away. For others, the date can be months away, for one of my sons it was an almost 4 month wait until he reported at the center. These dates have to take into consideration things like visas, vaccinations, passports, doctor visits, the needs of the country they will be traveling to, etc. I know that some countries have very strict requirements for people to meet before they can enter. All these things are taken into consideration. So… although a young man or women has received their “call” and know where they are going, life does not change all that much until the date they actually report to the training center.
During the meantime – however long or short it is – they get the clothes they will need and take care of all the other logistics. And… they keep their regular jobs, associations, etc.
Until DA actually reports to the training center, he will be carrying on with all the things that he would normally be doing. This is a plus for us as we get to share in these weeks or months with him and his own “Archu-duties”: all the things he will be able to accomplish before he “leaves”. (I put that in quote marks because until I know where and how and all the other deets, I am not counting anything out as a possibility. Nope, not with DA.)
What I do know is that the time he gives will be dedicated to service. Other than that, I will wait and see.

Hopefully now that we seem to have so much information about David’s personal life beyond his singing career, we can get back to what brought us here…his wonderful music. Religion Is a part of his personal convictions and sometimes it feels like we are intruding on that part of his life and some will of course as no to that.
We have talked for days about religion and far less about musc. That is the power of the Internet. The one thing we have in common is his music.

I vaguely remember an interview David did in December. I think it was when he was in California for the MKOC tour. He visited a TV station or a news station. He sang there for the employees and they also did a video of an interview & they combined the two for a YouTube vid.. When asked about upcoming projects and pressed to state what type of upcoming projects, David said “acting”. He does leave us tidbits – we just need the decoder.

Emme, I took Bebe’s advice, too. lol Oh, man , when he sings “angel’s voice” at the 1:02 mark, the tone of his voice gives me goosebumps. So beautiful.
Only that voice that could make my ears this happy. 🙂

Tawna, It may be in youtubes, but I feel confident the Archies over there won’t let us down. We’ll see it somehow, I just know it.
He’ll be heading over there soon. And we should be getting some goodies from there once he arrives. Pics, videos of interviews and appearances, etc. 🙂

Bebe,
thank you for all the videos, his voice and music are the real reasons why we all are here.
I would like to make a comment re David’s reaction to Filipino fans. We Filipinos are really a bunch of enthusiastic, happy and positive people. Despite being a third world country, we spend so much on concerts, entertainment, food and things that give us joy. We love parties specially family get togethers. We always have a reason to have big gatherings even just for a child’s birthday party. We love to eat and talk. Even the poor people will spend their last money on celebrations (though I personally think this is not a good trait). And Filipinos LOVE music and singing. You will always see family members singing at the top of their lungs in these get togethers (that is why karaoke is very popular here). It’s not only David who expressed this amazement at how we treat celebrities we like. Most celebrities who come here for concerts etc. always come back for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and more concerts. We are just very open to showing our admiration male, female, gay, young, old, mothers, grandmas, cougars, it doesn’t matter. Maybe david saw and felt all these when he was here so the comment but we know that he appreciates his fans everywhere because he says and shows it. Sorry for the long post. I am a daily lurker here, just too shy to post and I think this site, the moderators and the posters here are cool.Thank you.

Lani…your celebrations sound similar to David’s in his own family. Sometimes it is not the intention to sound the way we do with what we say and are quoted. Sometimes we need a translator or decoder to give the true meanings
Are you hoping to see David while he is there? I know the dates have not been announced.

I want to thank you for describing how your culture accepts celebrities. Showing appreciation is a wonderful thing. I look forward to seeing the airport reception on his next visit this week. It gives me a warm feeling in my heart that David gets the same love by fans far from home. He is always treated with respect no matter the situation. That means so much. I love that he is #1 in the Philippines!!
Please continue to post. We all need to communicate to keep the flame lit over the next 2 years.
Did you know that every time some one lurks here, I gain a pound??? 😦 And when someone posts I lose 2 pounds!! 😉

Yes, I will definitely move heaven and earth to see David when he comes here…lol. I saw his concerts the last 3x he was here and went to most of the signings.
But I don’t think fans can watch during shoots, they will never reveal where those would be. I’m sure he’ll be guesting in some tv shows and there are rumours of signings and meet n greets…and maybe a pre taped mini concert on tv (they are all still rumours).
Abrra
You’re welcome and congratulations on losing 2 pounds because I posted lol. will try to do it more often but please excuse my grammar and English usage. English is not my first language.

Lani,
I enjoyed reading about how families celebrate in The Philippines. My daughter had a Filipino friend while growing up in grade school. We were invited to the birthday parties which were so lavish with lots of food and games. Kids and parents always had a great time and were given care packages to take home. The family was so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
In the youtube videos, I saw the same hospitality shown to David and I thank you. 🙂 I hope you get to see him in a few days on this next visit!

Lani–#187—I too, would like to thank you for your love and support of David, and look forward to more posts from you.
My brain is working in overdrive about his TV appearances. 😉 So I have a question.
What language are these shows done in? Will his voice be dubbed or will it all be in English? I’m sure if there is singing , it will his voice in all its glory.
Dumb question , I know—but…………??????

Dakgal,
Soap operas here are done in Filipino (Philippine’s national language, also called Tagalog) but since they say David’s role is that of a Filipino- American it is justifiable if he talks in English,(majority of the Filipinos speak and understand English) maybe he will be taught some Tagalog words too. Actors here specially the new ones have acting workshops done/sponsored by the networks. We have many real
Fil Am actors here who starred in these kinds of shows and got really popular that they decided to stay for good and later on got fluent in Tagalog. I’m not a fan of soap operas here but I will definitely watch this one with David…lol But the problem here is these shows do not have English subtitles so maybe the Filipino fans can help US fans translate the dialogues, lol

Thank you Lani–that’s very helpful—but I am the one that is always full of questions Haha
I have read where this will be a soap opera , but have also read where it is a mini-series–have you heard which one it will be? Or are they considered one and the same? Over here they are completely different things.

You’re welcome dak, glad to be of help, I read at archuleta phils. that it’s a mini series but I’ve read some articles about it being a soap opera. They are also completely different here. Soaps run a lot longerrr here sometimes taking 6 months or even a year but mini series only runs at least a month or two. I would guess this might be a mini series since I heard David will only be here for 15 days. Since he is one of the main characters I don’t think he could finish a long running soap opera shooting for only 15days. This is just my opinion. I think we just have to wait and see. For someone who’s not a fan of soap I know a lot… lol. My mother is a big fan of these shows, she watches everyday from 7 to 9 pm, this is the primetime slot here where many Filipinos are glued to their tv’s. David’s will be shown at primetime according to the network. If David sings in this mini series since they say it is a musical type I think he will gain many many more fans after this and he will be more in demand here when he returns from his mission.

Nothing or no one to replace you. I have so many memories, so many videos, many anecdotes and lots of salt.

Thanks for the video Dja. sigh♥….I like that the young women seem soft spoken, and how the one on the right said she was honored to be working with David, a dream. (at least I think that is what she said.) Lucky women.

I was watching an old interview of one of my other favorite singer/songwriter Dan Fogelberg and came across this quote by him;
“I think at some point you have to decide how much the art means and how much making a living means. I think all of us have to struggle with that. The purest response, in my own experience, has been to follow your own heart and do what you really believe.”
Found that interesting…. 🙂

Tawna when David was on AI I told my daughter he could would do a great job with Dan’s song Longer..even had her listen to it…I couldn’t believe he ended up having to sing it! There are times when it comes on my iPod that when it starts I think it’s Dan but it’s David. Btw when Simon showed his dislike for the song I had to laugh…because Dan didn’t like it either!! I was so sad when Dan passed away…he was such a talent.

my god, I have to learn many languages, this year start with the English language. But watching the video of the comment “200” I’m scared.
I was checking Wikipedia to know that language is spoken in the Philippines. There are 175 in the whole continent!.
In Manila Tagalog language is spoken.
David I love you very much, but I hope that in the miniseries, you speak in English.
Anyway, you’ve spoken Spanish, French, Latin,
What will be the next surprise?
