To Hear An Angel’s Voice at Westbury ~ David Archuleta

It’s been five days since Westbury and I miss it big time. But I can’t complain; it was a midwinter night’s dream to be at VIP, sit in Row 4 and see David perform, to finally meet Angelica and Abrra and catch up with old friends. The planets aligned nicely for me; the only missing link from The Voice was Djafan. We have been looking forward to The Grand Meeting for the last two years since we started The Voice. There’s something about that third dimension that cinches the deal.
(Dear David, do you know how many people you have brought together, how many friendships you’ve created, how much good you have brought to the world? You are so young in years and have accomplished more than you realize. But that‘s another subject for another time. ;))
I recognized Abrra when I first saw her at VIP. She’s cute and warm and friendly and funny and nurturing and every bit as efficient and geeky as she is online. We hugged and I gave her the big kiss on the cheek I promised. It feels like I know Abs my whole life. She is like a warm fuzzy blankie. We bonded instantly, at first sight.
VIP took place in the lounge and the lights were low and hazy. It was packed and we knew David entered the room when we heard screams followed by a hush. I could barely see him at the far end of the lounge but when I got closer, there he was, dressed like a typical teenager in jeans and a hoodie, signing posters for the fans. It was a pleasure to spend some time with SandyBeaches again and to see TOFan and refnaf. I also met Kizzi for the first time! Abrra was already in line to get a signed poster and she saved me a spot. I almost forgot that Mr. Bebereader was sitting at our table, with our coats and purses. He’s been a fan of David’s since Idol and never misses a chance to say hi to him. I quickly let him know that it was time. Since he didn’t want to leave the purses unattended, he arrived at the line with three ladies purses in tow. LOL The line moved quickly…
Me: Hi David. I’m Bebe. B-E-B-E (I was sure he wouldn’t know how to spell my name.)
David: (Repeating me, as he signed) Beeee beeee B-E-B-E. Lower register. Dead. Why did he have to do that?
I could barely see him in the darkness but I wasn’t really looking either. Have you heard of self preservation? Then I heard him say “So how’re you doing?” I guess he was talking to me; I was the only one there.
Me: Great! Good luck at the show tonight! (So generic.)
David: Thanks! And thanks for coming out!
He handed me a life-sized signed poster and I made a beeline back into the crowd. A new line formed for pictures and then he sang the first verse of “My Kind of Perfect”, a capella. Lovely.
We were back out in the lobby after VIP when someone told me that Angelica had arrived. I turned around and knew exactly who she was. She’s beautiful, blond, bright, and a firecracker, a combination of attributes that you’d expect in someone who writes with so much passion.
I thought I’d pull a fast one so when I approached her I said “Hi Angelica, I’m Abrra and this is Bebe (pointing to Abrra who was standing beside me.) She had never met either of us but you can’t trick her. She good-naturedly laughed at my attempt at silliness but knew I was teasing. She sparkles; she’s fun; she’s a people magnet and she pulled me right in.
We had some time to sit in our seats in the venue before the show started. There I had the pleasure of speaking to SilverFox again; we met at a VIP two years ago. Shoutouts to FunnyGirl, who is even funnier than her screen name and Marciami, mi compadre. It was evident that fans were there from all parts of the country and elsewhere. This is such a credit to David and I was proud of him before the show even started.
On with the show…
This was not the David I remember from American Idol. He has evolved into an adult, a charismatic performer, fully in charge and a tease onstage. He knows how to work the crowd with his banter, jokes, and by the way he uses his voice. He came out with a slow saunter, singing the words to “Sleigh Ride”, looking completely different from the teenager in the jeans and hoodie I saw moments before. We gasped collectively when we saw him. We screamed. We stood, honored to see him once again. The New York audience never got a chance to see him sing songs from TOSOD and I was thrilled when he sang the title song. The setlist was eclectic and it worked. There were pop tunes, Jazzy numbers, Christmas standards and new Christmas songs. David was playful onstage but he owned it, giving the band cues, dancing, and joking with us:
“That one’s a mistletoe. I don’t know if it’s active on the stage tonight.” LOL
The highlights for me were:
1) The new bi-lingual Christmas song David wrote with Sunny Hilden, “Fa la la la la la.” It’s fun, upbeat, has a catchy tune. And it gives David a chance to let loose and do a little dancing onstage! It’s going to be my ringtone for the holidays.
2) The Amy Grant cover, “I Need A Silent Night”. Fun lyrics and David’s beautiful vocals. I go to sleep and wake up with this song in my head.
credit 8throwcenter
3) “The First Noel”, “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night”. Exquisite vocals. Beautiful reverent performances.
4) Little Drummer Boy! What on earth???!!! I was blown away by this performance. David chooses songs for a reason because they convey a message. I believe he was telling us that he wants to do music forever, is grateful for his gift and will build his career as he sees fit, thank you very much. He made a bold move and beat aggressively on the drums with mallets, to make that statement. A sight to behold when he held the two mallets up in the air. More power to you David. Own it! It’s yours!
All in all it was a great show and had something for everyone. I left the venue feeling both exhilarated and peaceful at the same time. I spoke to a few people as we were exiting. We all had the same look on our faces. What just happened?
After the show, about 50 of us gathered at the Broadway Diner to try to figure it out. We’re still not sure. Except that when all our powers of reasoning fail us, the words of Michael Orland, Musical Director of American Idol, Season 7 are brought to mind. “David Archuleta came to American Idol as a genius and he left as one.” On a cold wintry night in December, Mr. Orland’s words ring loud and clear.

It was so good to meet you and your husband, as well as Angelica for the first time. It was as though we never missed a beat and been close for years! Something funny was that as I wandered around passing out SB’s bracelets to fans in VIP, I ran into Paula no less than 3 times and asked her ” What is your name ?” haha She is a sport and told me each time. It was my first time to attend a tour’s opening show. Full of surprises! Most of all was the maturity of David’s stage presence and the richness of his voice.
I liked this
“All in all it was a great show and had something for everyone. I left the venue feeling both exhilarated and peaceful at the same time. I spoke to a few people as we were exiting. We all had the same look on our faces. What just happened?”
That sums it up for me!
I hung my poster that David signed at VIP (with my name!) SQEEEEEEEE!
**************
Bringing this over from the last thread because it’s what I said to David.
Gladys
OMGOSH 🙂 I will share with you what I said to David at VIP.
It was during the picture time.
I stood next to him with my arm around his back and leaned closer so he could hear me.
Me: David I have a message for you from some international fans who could not come to see you on tour this time.
David: Really?
Me: Gladys from Argentina and Andrea from Columbia send you their love and support!
David: Oh that’s nice! Please tell them I do appreciate that!

And the FaLaLaLa lyrics from sj
I found this comment at FOD . sj took the time to decipher FaLaLaLa lyrics. Now we can all sing along with passion!

Awww…what a wonderful article, Bebe! B E B E…. It was such a pleasure to meet you at the diner after the Westbury show. I wish so badly that we could have visited longer. This was my first major trip to see David and I would not trade the memories for anything in the world.
Hold on….if he continues to grow and mature at this pace…we are truly in for the ride of our lives! WOWZA!

Oh my gosh what am I in for??? Great recap. I love that everyone loved him. I watched the videos initially and they blow me away. I can’t imagine what it will be like in person. I since cut myself off from watching videos in order to maintain a semblance of sanity until Wednesday! My turn! I’ve received my itinerary! Breathe!!!!!!!!!!
“I could barely see him in the darkness but I wasn’t really looking either. Have you heard of self preservation? Then I heard him say “So how’re you doing?” I guess he was talking to me; I was the only one there.”
You are so funny lol How am I going to get you to look him in the eyes?? You have to do it just once 🙂
Thanks for a great recap!!! And thank Mr. Bebereader for being such a trooper and so happy you adms finally met.

Bebe, what a wonderful recap! Thank you for sharing your meeting with Abrra & Angelica as well as with David. You described them just as I imagined them. And you are very fortunate that Mr. Bebe is a fan, and such a sweetheart to hold the purses! lol I can just picture it!
And this >> “Except that when all our powers of reasoning fail us, the words of Michael Orland, Musical Director of American Idol, Season 7 are brought to mind. “David Archuleta came to American Idol as a genius and he left as one.“ On a cold wintry night in December, Mr. Orland’s words ring loud and clear.”
His level of musical genius is becoming more and more apparent as time goes by. With each successive year he loses more of his restraint. When he is fully unleashed, there will be no stopping his rise. Even now I think he is an unstoppable force, one that is climbing ever higher.

Bebereader, what a wonderful recap of the show we were blessed to experience. David has grown exponentially since the last time he was at Westbury, and the next time he comes to Westbury, we will be saying the same thing. There is no limit to David’s greatness as a singer and a performer. He is already among the greats of all time. When Elvis was David’s age, he was driving a truck, for Pete’s sake. Without losing a scintilla of his humility and charm, David commands a stsge like no other and transports anyone who is willing to a place that I thought no longer existed.

Hello! Up late because I fell asleep early and then fell awake. Just beginning to fully recover from the best David trip ever! Not even kidding, this was even more amazing than MOtab for me. I guess because this trip would have been awesome even without the 3 David concerts but there WERE the concerts too and that made it everything and more and more and more!!!
Had unexpected house guests when I returned home to get ready for and cook and what not and they just left yesterday. No time to get online and when the time was found, I was too tired. Want to apologize to my wonderful admins for being so out of it last night on our weekly conference call. But starting to feel energized again and so blessed to have met Kara and Bebe in Westbury for the first time. After meeting Djafan in Utah and AZ the circle is now complete for me. Would not have missed this trip for the world for that reason alone. But there was so much more. I need to write about it soon now that I’m restored to my former self. Is that even possible? I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.
Bebe, thank you for the great recap. It was just as you said. I remember being so blown away when “He came out with a slow saunter, singing the words to ‘Sleigh Ride’…” gaah! I don’t know how Abrra’s arm survived the continual squeezing I gave it and vice versa. The entire show was perfection in performance. Never saw him so full of joy and confident.
It was so fun too, all of us, (50 or so) taking over the Broadway Diner! The noise and commotion we all made in our unbridled excitement coming from the opening night of this epic tour was crazy! The young man who waited on us all was such a good sport and so sweet. So was your husband and thanks for giving me and FG and Marciami a ride back to our hotel in New York! Can’t say everything right now that I felt and did because that’s another story and would take up the whole comment section. How to condense it all to something manageable? Still have not watched one video from the fatigue that ensued but that is something I have to look forward to now that I’m rested. Gotta say it was so great to finally meet Djbell too. She is a hoot! Will be enjoying her vids this weekend and remembering that night all over again and you and Abrra and everyone else. And that was just one night. In the days to follow there was so much more. What an adventure this love for David and his gift and his fans has been and it’s only just begun because HE has only just begun. The first time I met him and witnessed his live performance was years ago in Bossier City, LA. I came away with this overwhelming feeling of gratitude to God for bringing David into my life. Now, 4 years later, I find myself post New York, feeling even more thankful. He has enriched my life so much with his voice, his persona, his example, his fans and experiences I never imagined would be mine. So this Christmas, God bless him, and as tiny Tim would say, God bless us everyone. Before I get too maudlin, I will post and say goodnight. I’m sure this is full of typos but I wanted to get my feelings down before I go to bed. I blame all mistakes on Abrra’s iphone. 😉

Love this line. I keep going back to it. It is so true. All the involuntary jumping to our feet and as Angelica said, *arm squeezing* . I know I did the same to a friend.

I am beginning to think that Idaho internet has fallen off the grid 😉
I did manage to hunt down Mr. Strut and Saunter from Blackfoot.
credit @juls10
I went to bed earlier that expected, but then I got a text from a friend who was at the show. I was blessed to hear David sing and talk as I lay in my bed with headphones. He sounded stronger vocally, if that is possible! Even though there have been videos on the net, the crowd reacted in all the right places, as if it was the first time they saw these performances.
Haha Angelica! It’s a good thing you came to sit with me. I needed to squeeze your knee as much as you needed my arm. The bruises will fade i am sure!
Rumor alert!!!!
Something I read, but can not source is that the Drummer boy “choreography” was Jeff’s idea. David was reluctant at first, but the band encouraged him to step out of his comfort zone. Little did he know that it is THE most unforgettable part of the show.
Whether it is fact or not, I am glad he decided to go through with it. Simon Cowell used to say this about a performance ( paraphrasing here) ‘First you have to sell a song, then make the performance memorable’.
Mission accomplished, David!

Listen to that!! What! He is brilliant with what he relays, implies, what he does vocally, where he accentuates, phrasing, diction, pace, I don’t even know what I’m talking about. I just know he is beyond anything and everything.
And that ending!!!

Oh we can also increase the views by watching youtube. Someone has to do it lol.
David does feel the negativity 😦 I will support and promote him more than ever.
Archuleta to share his kind of Christmas in Cedar City from thespectrum.com.
“That’s what I love about being a singer is you can put yourself in anyone’s shoes,” Archuleta said. “I think it’s important to try to be as understanding to others as you can, especially when it comes to singing.”
He tries to carry that understanding over to everyday life by being kind and gracious, not only to the media during his interviews, but to people in general – an attitude that is not always reciprocated when you’re in the spotlight in the music business.
“I have had to acquire thick skin,” he said. “No matter what you do, no matter how hard you try to be respectful of people there are still people who hate your guts.”
He said it’s unfortunate but the negative in life is often louder than the positive, but if you stay calm and pay attention you can focus on the good in life.
“For the most part it’s been such a blessing to have such great people coming to the shows and to hear their stories about how much they appreciate the music,” he said.

SB’s Youth Symphonie Jeunesse going on tour with ‘American Idol’ finalist
Michel Nolan, Staff Writer
Posted: 12/09/2011 04:49:45 PM PST
Any “American Idol” runner-up will tell you – if you want a stunning performance, a good orchestra is what you need.
Especially when that orchestra is comprised of ultra talented string musicians as youthful as the overnight singing sensation himself.
David Archuleta, a finalist in “Idol’s” seventh season, considered several orchestral choices before he made plans for his nationwide Christmas tour.
His decision? Our own Youth Symphonie Jeunesse of San Bernardino, conducted by teacher and symphony cellist Michele Tacchia.
Youth Symphonie Jeunesse Orchestra will accompany David, now 20, for the Los Angeles portion of the tour, which runs from Dec. 14 through 17.
David’s tour is called “My Kind of Christmas” and we will be his orchestra of choice on that leg of his tour, according to Michele, who founded the ensemble.
“My orchestra kids are absolutely over-the-moon with excitement for this opportuniy,” she said.
“This is a very big deal for our community. Any youth orchestra from L.A. could have been chosen, but WE were.”
Michele will conduct 27 of her young musicians for three performances: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Club Nokia, 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles; 8 p.m. Friday at the Majestic Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chesnut St., Ventura; and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at The Grove of Anaheim, 2200 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim.
Each of these theaters seats between 2,000 and 3,000 people and his concerts always sell out,
Michele warned.
The program will include “Ave Maria,” “O Holy Night,” “Pat-A-Pan,” “What Child Is This” and “Silent Night.”
Michele, in the spring of 2008, met with Dr. Ernie Garcia and the San Bernardino Valley Concert Association to propose a youth orchestra in the community.
Symphonie Jeunesse was established through a generous grant from the Frank Plash Endowment, under the auspices of SBVCA.
Students range in age from 12 to 19 and represent the communities of San Bernardino, Rialto and Redlands.
Symphonie Jeunesse operates on donations, which provide scholarships to young musicians, allowing them to participate without paying tuition, as well as providing funds to purchase music and supplies.

I cannot believe a week has passed since my concerts. I’m still in the Archuhaze. David’s performances are so unique that I could see all 13 and it wouldn’t be enough. It’s so hard to descend from cloud nine, however I am so grateful that all the other fans, now those out West, can share the experience. The California fans will be beside themselves by the time their turn comes. If only it could last and last as
there are so many parts of the country that were not blessed by this amazing performance. I hope it isn’t too long before another tour shapes up. David is that rare artist that is best seen live, no matter that his recordings are fantastic. I’m beginning to think he’s a drug that it’s very hard to come down from (gee my syntax even suffers (: ).

If anyone writing about David for a paper, for an interview, for television..
David is introduced by anyone with worldly knowledge, or simply keeps up with the music of the times as…
SINGING SENSATION David Archuleta…well I am quoting a master of music who said that David sings out of this world !! A…Singing Sensation…David Archuleta…there now we have it!! Excuse me while I stomp on the words runner up, poof they are gone. Those ancient, crazy words don’t belong on the same page as David. My day is never done!!

"David does feel the negativity." ♥ That broke my heart when I read that. All I could think is that, there would have to be something wrong with a person to hate on this guy.
Emmegirl,
"This Christmas" is definitely "something", haha and so is that David Archuleta fellow. He's definitely "something" no matter what he's singing.
And you can tell he knows where in his songs the crowd will react, but I still am not sure if he knows how killer that smile is when he's singing and what it does to his audience. lol Sometimes I think " he KNOWS!" and then other times I'm still not sure.
Bebe, those vids are off the chart good! And that Blackfoot LDB! Wow! David is really getting into the drumming! For something he was so hesitant to do, he is really doing a great job on it!

I have seen quite a few people saying on twitter that they are having a problem syncing their iPhone. The easiest fix is to uninstall iTunes from the control panel on your computer, then reinstall it.
Nothing will be lost.Your contacts, apps and music etc are stored on your iTunes account. Always use the most current version. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
When they send you iTunes update, do it! 😉
I have done this process myself. Just yesterday Angelica had to do this to get hers to finish the sync.

What a way to wake up to a very cold Sunday morning…
David singing “The Christmas Song” (Chestnuts) at the VIP in Blackfoot is THE BEST RENDITION BY FAR OF ANY I HAVE EVER HEARD! And that includes Nat King Cole, who made this song famous & into a classic. (RIP Mr. Cole). There have been literally thousands of recordings by many artists of this great classic song throughtout the years but honestly, David’s is the best. What is so amazing is that in Blackfoot he had no warmup, no rehearsal…he just sang this bluesy version off the cuff as only David can do so amazingly well. He is getting to be known, besides The Voice, as a true musical GENIUS!
Would love to have an mp3 of it and I would do it myself if I knew how. 🙂

I finally have two minutes to check in and say what an amazing night it was in Cedar City!! I am at a total loss for words…I saw the videos, but like so many have said, it in no way rivals the real thing! He was so on fire, so comfortable in his skin, so in command of the stage, so full of energy, so absolutely on with his vocals, and had so much stage presence! He turned songs I had heard a hundred times into a full on jaw-dropping experience! My 10 year-old daughter kept turning to me with this expression of total awe. You could just feel his love for performing and his joy was so contagious–the audience was really responsive. Speaking of the audience, it was SO diverse!…lots of teenage girls, but lots of families and lots of men. I sat next to a teenage boy who sang along to a lot of the songs and got up and danced!
Just a few favorite moments:
1–Sleigh Ride, when he pointed right at my daughter when he sang, “Come on it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with YOU” . She totally squeeled and waved, and he waved right back!
2–This Christmas…wow, SO amazing! Vocals are incredible! And yes, he smiled that flirty smile when he sang “with you”.
3–Zero Gravity–SO much energy, SO into it, and so many in the audience were up dancing.
4–Climb Every Mountain–so much passion and conviction.
5–FaLaLaLaLa–David’s attempts to bring one little girl out of her shell…she wouldn’t smile, dance, or even put on the hat! He was so cute…I don’t know how she resisted him!
6–Little Drummer Boy–just because I knew it was coming!
7–Oh Holy Night–it was the encore, and was so powerful!
8–Meeting Bluesky, Patti, and Shawna! Thanks for “hunting me down”; glad to finally meet some other David fans.
Speaking of Bluesky, you perfectly summed up the experience in 6 words: “Passion: thy name is David Archuleta”

I found this comment at FOD. Sometimes we forget the broad appeal that David’s music has. Cheers for Dac for speaking up!
“Dac says:
December 11, 2011 at 10:44 am
As a middle aged man I find it interesting that some are still amused that we are standing and singing along with David Archuleta. I don’t see these kind of comments made about men singing to country western, christian, rap, and other artists. You would not find me dancing in my seat to the song Crush, but I would find it impossible not to hum or sing along to the power ballads, and Christmas classics. I found David’s music through a hospice patient of mine and think he is awesome. It is clear to a fellow christian that David is filled with the Spirit and I believe this is in large part is why I am drawn to him. His outrageous talent, humility, and compassion are the icing on the cake. David is clearly a messenger and I would find it a humbling privilege to stand and sing along with one of the most amazing men in the business. He may be smaller and younger looking in person then most men his age, but he is one outrageously gutsy guy that sets the standard for what a real man should be in my book!
Thanks to FOD for all the time, and talented effort you put in to supporting David and keeping the masses up to date on his career. I can’t begin to imagine how challenging this must be.”
I hope Dac finds his way to The Voice to share his thoughts.

Oh my goodness! Mellowdee’s blog is a hoot…and really captures the feeling of the night! Sorry, I just HAVE to quote a few lines (hopefully she doesn’t mind):
“AND THEN HE SANG GOOD PLACE/LET IT BE. And all of the emotions. ALL OF THE EMOTIONS. ALLOFTHEMOTIONS.
They all happened.”
“What kind of girl do you want to marry? (LOLOLOL)
His answer consisted of his usual stuff – someone kind and giving, outgoing and adventurous. It was funny though because the only dad at the VIP shouted out “AND SHE HAS TO BE PRETTY RIGHT?” And then David laughed and said – “She has to have a beautiful soul.” Clearly by “beautiful soul” he means “bear hat”. (read her blog to get that last part!)
“IT STARTED. AND I WAS GONE. I WAS SO FAR GONE. THE SONGS YOU GUYS. THE MUSIC. HIS VOICE. CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS SONGS. GAH. He never evereverever fails to surprise me. It’s like. I know how good he is. I know it. I DO. That’s why I adore him. But then…it’s like. OH. You’re…you’re AMAZING. And every single time – EVERYSINGLETIME – you impress me and shock me and it’s all just a hot mess of emotions.”
You just have to go over there and read it with all her beautiful pictures! It’s the next best thing to actually being there! And the whole bit about the little girl that wouldn’t give in to the archuglory…so funny! My daughter turned to me during that time and said, “Mom, if they had chosen me I would’ve done a lot better!”
I’m actually surprised there are not more videos out there. I know we weren’t supposed to film, but I saw a lot of ninja Archies out there. I hope someone has a video of This Christmas and Sleigh Ride–they killed me. My daughter tried taking a few videos with my ancient camera, but they’re pretty grainy and those security guys were given us “the look”. I have the ending minute of Crush which was pretty awesome cause his rock star alter ego kept coming out…hopefully those ninja archies are going to post more of their videos.

She did a wonderful recap !
I got a big laugh from this “diva” moment
“Me: So, I don’t know if you’re okay with this…but I bought you a bear hat as a gift and I was wondering if you’d wear one if I wore mine too?
DA: Oh man! That’s cool…but I already did my hair for the show…and it’s kind of hard to find a place here to do it…and…
Me: Say no more, you are okay, do not worry! *hands gift to Kari* I’ll wear mine though, if that’s okay?”
Beautiful David, such an star 🙂 Nice hair-did, too!
BTW If you right click any of her pictures and “set as desktop background”, it will cover the whole screen. *DIES*

An epic review from Masterclasslady on Silent Night with MOTab.
Masterclasslady did a review from Glad Christmas Tidings of David A’s performance with the MOTab.
Masterclass Monday: David Archuleta’s Inspiring Version Of Silent Night.
This video of David Archuleta performing Silent Night
with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra has to be the most
compelling, passionate and inspiring performance of this song classic I
have ever had the pleasure to see and hear.
Recorded live last Christmas and set to air on PBS on Tuesday, December 13th from 8:00-9:00 P.M., David’s arrangement of this beautiful carol is nothing short of exceptional.
His phrasing, inflection, his lyrical, seamless vocal quality and
expressive interpretation, are absolutely sublime. His face is radiant
throughout this song and genuinely expresses the meaning of the lyrics
in every verse.
Watch how his demeanor changes for each verse. It is very evident in
the third verse, where his facial expression and body language mirrors
the text so very well. He wears his joy and happiness on his sleeve. It
really is remarkable.
David has released a CD and DVD with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir called Glad Christmas Tidings.
It is an absolutely exquisite “watch and listen”, capturing the
spirit of Christmas through stellar vocal and instrumental performances.
It is available for hard copy or digital purchase from Amazon.com or via ITunes.
But do yourself a favor right now and listen to the video below. It
is an excellent way to begin your week and to be reminded where the
meaning of Christmas truly lives and breathes.

So much activity on Twitter today. I turned away for a few minutes and literally 559 new tweets popped up. We’re about midway through the tour and fans are abuzz about the shows they saw and the shows they’re about to see.
Blueberry Ice#90 Glad you liked! I’ve been spending way too much time watching tour videos but it doesn’t seem like enough time either. Seems I don’t get enough unless I pick myself off the floor from hours of watching. Enjoy your upcoming shows!
I’m with Emmegirl and the rest of you who want David to continue doing Christmas
albums. There are so many Christmas songs out there that he hasn’t covered yet. I never thought he’d do “Sleigh Ride” but what did I know? There’s a commercial on TV that has “Sleigh Ride” on in the background, sung by the original singer. It just doesn’t measure up now that David got ahold of it.
Sky!!!!!!!!!!!! {{{hugs}}} Have a great time! Take it easy bouncing off the ceiling! LOL and ummm djafan and Blueberry Ice..that goes for you too!!! LOL
Kaycee: Lovely recap! He’s Everything and More and more and more!
Hoping Mellowdee’s “Good Place” turns up on youtube!
There are so many pics online from this tour. This man is insanely talented and insanely handsome and so adored by his fans. He never takes a bad picture. Steven Spielberg is going to scoop him up and put him in movies if he knows what’s good for him. But after that, we want him back to make more music.

No worries, Djafan. DA is schooled in taking care of frenzied, out of focus, over the top fans:
To those who show signs of anticipation fatigue, he mildly offers a quick 10,000 volt recharge.
Any suffering from Christmas spirit depravation, he casually saunters through a bright “and this is Christmas Present!” doorway, complete with a jolly “Come in and know me better, man!” (and another way to assist in covering those ((otherwise)) hidden ones.)
For any with failing hearing (due to an overabundance of holiday tunes) he mixes up a little “Hearing Aid” (not to be confused with “Kool Aid” and far sweeter of course) that does, as promised, lead to a far better land. No passport required. Just ears. But do not attempt to “lend” them. (I know, I know, I have an unhealthy fondness for literary puns. *_* ) Once a person has received the DA hearing-aid their ears will effectively be “owned” and nothing else will ever sound the same. (Some say he should copyright the procedure but DA seems to think it does not entirely belong to him. ((!!)) )
And for those who come ready and willing to offer their complete hearts – ahhh. You are special. In fact, he designed the whole evening just for you. And you and he will be most delighted by your simply accepting what he so passionately wishes you each, personally, to receive.
and… Merry Christmas.

Loved your recap, bebe. Isn’t this fun? So great meeting up with fans and David and also David’s people.
Let me tell you about my time in Boise. My friend Maribel and I arrived at 3 with the M&G starting in less that 3 hours. As we were checking into the hotel I realized my wallet was missing from my purse. We searched everywhere but could not find it. A friend had repaid a loan just before we left and I had stuck that money in my wallet. The last time I had seen it was at a gas station over 100 miles away. With some help from my Iphone I was able to locate the station and call. The girl who had waited on us confirmed that my wallet was there and I should come right back and pick it up. Hmmmm. Had to make a quick decision. Which would be worse? Taking a chance on never seeing my wallet again, complete with all l.D., credit cards and a bunch of money, or take a chance on not getting back in time to see David. That was easy. I asked the clerk if she would mind just keeping it until the next day.
We arrived at the venue and were standing in line to pick up our tickets. They were in my name and I had no ID. I was trying to formulate a plausible story to obtain the tix when I saw Styx was wearing a magic bracelet. It matched my magic bracelet. Thanks to people at The Voice, I recognized Styx, could call him by name. Thanks to SB and her magic bracelets I had my ID! We talked about our nice friend who had given him the bracelet and there was no problem. Even the next night in Blackfoot, Styx called over “She doesn’t need ID. Just give her the tickets.” Haha

Even though I know you made it to the VIP and concert, I got a sick feeling in my gut when you wrote about your wallet. I think everyone has that moment when the BIG day arrives when you misplace ( or think you have) something vital on your way to see David. For me it was the 2009 Providence make up show for summertime Demi tour. We were all sitting at the hotel cafe having lunch. Even though I live nearby, I stayed with my road buddy at the hotel to be near the action. All of a sudden I realized my tickets were not in my bag! I didn’t have VIP. They were venue tickets.I had a moment of clarity. I could see them tacked to my bulletin board in my room! Luckily it was early in the day. All I had to do was drive to my home 20 min away and retrieve them! I barked at my road buddy , “Gimme your keys, now! I have to go get our tickets! I forgot them at home!” Haha she tossed them my way and I was back in less than 45 min with time to spare for making the show.
This tour I had to drive to Connecticut to meet with friends for the trip down to Long Island. About an hour into my drive, I realized my black folder with all my VIP info and confirmation documents was not on the car seat next to me. OMG 🙂 I drove to a rest area and ran to check the trunk, then back to the front seat. No folder! EEKK! I ran around to the passenger side, ripped open the door and out slid the black plastic folder with “everything that mattered to me in the world, inside ” 😉 I really think we lose our minds and become forgetful and blank out when the day comes to see David.
I blame him 😉

I so SO hope she uploads her VIP mashup video. I listened to the mp3 abrra made (thanks abs) all the way home tonight, 25 min on repeat and I just wanted to keep driving. If he ever performs that on stage, (would be a great last song I think) the entire crowd will be c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g out of the venue.
And thanks for bringing MC’s comments on Silent Night.
She doesn’t like him much does she.

bebe, “There’s a commercial on TV that has “Sleigh Ride” on in the background, sung by the original singer. It just doesn’t measure up now that David got ahold of it.”
Sometimes I think I must be craaazy! All the Christmas songs playing, and with each and every one all I can think about is how his version just blows their’s out of the water (no disrespect intended) or how I then long to hear his version if he hasn’t sung it. Every single one, doesn’t matter who is singing or what song. I have never felt anything like this before in my entire life. Insane.

I do the same thing. Hook my phone up to the car speakers and put Good Place/Let It Be on endless replay. Today on my walk, I listened to TOSOD songs. I think I am spoiled now by that acoustic Good Place. All the background effects are distracting. David was meant to sing acoustic. I hope he does more recording that way. Instruments are ok, its the “effects” like the clap track I don’t care for anymore.

If this is insanity, bring it on! LOL Seriously I agree with everything you said. I’ve always loved Christmas music and have a stack of Christmas cds sitting, collecting dust. I haven’t played them in years nor do I intend to, either. I think I’ll donate them, along with a copy of CFTH. Once they hear CFTH those surely cds will never get played.

I am preparing the best of the best videos for my pc and Bose in the kitchen (where I can have control) with some instrumental music for variation because who would I play along with David?…Their gifs will be prettily wrapped and waiting on the front hall stairway for when they leave. They will look all the same because they are all the same (excluding the children’s) being David’s MoTab DVDs for everyone!!
The best part is that they suggested the gift last December just joking, but hey you don’t joke about anything David related with me!!

Emmegirl, Abs. Agree, agree, agree. Good Place is always in my head. If another song takes over the main part of my head for awhile, GP is still there in a corner. 🙂 It always comes back. What he did to that song, acoustically, was genius. Changed the melody a bit. It’s just so beautiful. I can still see his face in my mind as he was singing it. I will never get over that part either. HE REALLY MEANS IT.
It was worth everything – if that was all I had heard last weekend it would’ve been worth it.

An interview! Love David’s sense of humor.
David Archuleta playing Christmas show at WFC
by Bill Pinella
David Archuleta, runnerup on Season 7 of American Idol, comes to Santa Rosa and the Wells Fargo Center for an 8 p.m. Christmas show on Tuesday. And with him he will bring a persona that he’s still a “kid.” Afterall he was 12 years old when he first appeared on Star Search and he was only 17 when he finished second to David Cook on Idol.
“I’ll be 21 the end of this month (Dec. 29),” Archuleta said in a phone interview last week from Idaho. “Can you believe that? And Yeah, yeah. People still think I’m not even old enough to drive.”
He was reminded that he does have that forever young look and after breaking out in a quick rendition of Rod Stewart’s “Forever Young”, Archuleta said, “Maybe I’ll start balding and maybe that will make me look older. People are still thinking I’m 15 or 16.”
He promised that his Tuesday show will be much like the Christmas show he performed here two winters ago, a mix of pop and holiday music.
And despite that youthful look, he expressed his desire to mature as a musician.
“To grow you have to keep surpassing what you think your limits are. You have to continue exceeding your expectations of yourself. And you have to keep growing and in order to do that you have to go out of your comfort zone. Pass what you think is impossible for you to do. I definitely feel that I have grown a lot in the last few years because of that.”

Can I just say that O Holy Night is the most beautiful rendition of any song i have ever heard. I’m not one to cry over music, but i have to say, when it was over my eyes were full of tears. My wish is that some day in the future i get to hear David sing The Lord’s Prayer. I think it would be sublime.I love that song and think he would make every other version fade into oblivion.I come to this site every day, and I have to say I’m a big fan of you guys too. I’ll make an effort to comment more often in the future. By the way Sandy Beaches, I’m from Newfoundland. My sister and I made the trip to Westbury to see David and we were not disappointed. Abrra that is a lovely hair-did pic. Who else could upstage Alcatraz?
Oh yes, I did get my wallet back with everything intact. Things always seem to work out when David is involved, even though we lose our senses
Today I showed a coworker some David pics from Idaho. She picked up the first one
and said ,”Oh, this is a real good one of David. Look at that great smile!” Then she picked up another and another and said, “Wait a minute…..he looks terrific in every picture.” Haha.
At the M&G in Boise I told David how much I liked “Above the Northern Lights” from the ice skating program. He began singing that song until he noticed I was about to fall over, then he stopped and gave me a grin. I think if I could have kept myself together he would have sung the whole song. Dang it!
The next night in Blackfoot the girl ahead of me asked David to sing a song so that she could sing along with him. It was her dream to sing with David. One of his people immediately said No! David can’t sing because he needs to save his voice for the concert tonight. David said he could sing a little of it, and she could join in. Once he got started, he never slowed down. At the end of the song the girl looked at him expectantly, he nodded his head and took off with the second verse.

Bluesky…I’m not worthy! The way you express yourself and what you are able to communicate about this whole David experience continues to blow my mind! I was astonished to see that you were actually a real person in Cedar City…and a really nice, lovely one at that!
While we’re waiting for the lovely tidbits from tonight…I think I will try and post my “sad” video of Crush from Cedar City…not sad because David was anything less than amazing, sad because of the quality of the video. I was really hoping some awesome fan with an awesome camera would post it merely for the amazing rock star ending, but I haven’t found any videos from the first half of the concert! I’ve been searching for Sleigh Ride because of the cute interchange between David and my daughter, and This Christmas, because…well, because it was AMAZING! My cute 10 year-old daughter took a minute clip of Crush–it’s so shaky and it has bad audio, but the ending is worth it!

Bah!!!! Can you believe The Motab Concert on PBS here in S. Dak. has been pre-empted by Frontline with a show about child abuse. 😥
Now I’m all against child abuse—but I feel abused—after all it is the Christmas season. But it will air on Christmas Day at 11:00AM. I’m sure people will be doing a gazillion other things at that time.
Now I have a request—could you people ( esp. you Sky) hold your squeeeing down–I can hear you clear up here–sounds like a faint siren off in the distance.
That noise along with the sound of sobbing and heavy sighs coming from the East coast, means I have to turn my speakers up even louder—dang!
I suppose people are already lined up in Calif. even tho it’s only a little after 4:00 PM—I just realized–it will take until tomorrow for videos because of the time difference–oh, well I’ll just not put on any socks tomorrow morning–cause they’ll just get blown off. 😯
#140 SweetonDA—“I won’t even care if my sister’s look at me like I’m crazy.”—– Now that’s the kind of attitude to have. 😉
