I have an ODD ritual during my work week. I like to have lunch with David. We have a special place we go, sitting outside under a nice big shade tree during these lovely fall days. OK, so sometimes it’s a small parking lot shaded by a tree and a small area of grass to sit on, across the street from my building. But David sings to me, as I eat my lunch. We are alone. âĽÂ Occasionally during inclement weather, we sit in my car. Whatever. It’s a wonderful break during my day to have the opportunity to De-stress, and feed my ODD and David’s voice can take me away, better than any Calgon bath ever could.
Anyway, last Saturday I parked the car, reached for David, but he was nowhere to be found. DANG IT! I checked around for his Cds. Nope, what the heck? Oh yeah, took them out when I was cleaning the car..dang it again. Disappointed, I unwrapped my sandwich and turned on the radio… and was quickly reminded that it was Saturday and college football rules the airwaves.
I halfway listened for a minute, grumbling under my breath… the 2 announcers were getting pretty fired up over a bad call. As excitement and tension built in their voices, such detail of every play and its setup, a thought occurred to me…these people “ain’t got nothin'” on David’s fans! Spend a Saturday night in “Unplugged” at The Voice, and we’ll show you some real in-depth analysis! And as I laughed out loud at the thought, my mind wandered off to a place where only my state of ODD could take me…and to a David concert…somewhere….
Pre-concert interview with the local press:
David, welcome to our town!

Not at all… it was time to move on as a free agent. I have some very talented musicians on my team now.

Oh, HA! Well, I just like to sing you know. I guess when I really get into a song, I may make a few subtle moves here and there. I don’t know. It just kind of happens I guess.
You’ve got a stadium full of fans out there David. There’s lots of ‘marry me David!’ signs around. Any chance we’ll see you throw out that killer look to someone tonight? See your future in a beautiful face?
I’m concentrating on music right now…but you never know. I guess it could happen…well, have to go now…it’s time to sing.
Have a great concert David. By the way…you are drop dead gorgeous.

Later, in the announcer’s booth, two fans broadcasting the event:
Hey guys! We’re coming to you LIVE on radio station ODD 101 AM on your dial, sharing my booth with a new fan… first concert. Are you excited Betty?
EEEEP! OK, yeah well. Betty’s ready! And here we go!! “Archies ARE YOU READY FOR A CONCERRRRT!??”
The team is coming out on the stage…on the stage now… and the packed stadium is screaming so loud!
They are chanting now, David!! David!! David!! Oh man, the lights are out! More screaming…the band is playing his intro…and hereheCOMES!EEEK! Pink open shirt, thin white T tucked into jeans, belt, dark comfy shoes (hey, its my article) GAH! I mean who looks like that? Look at that huge smile, those eyes, that hair! that strut!…oh, sorry. Calling the first play now, looks like he’s opening with TMH! That’s a crowd pleaser, and it gets him pumped! Look at that finger point, oops…lost a fan on that one! haha and the one behind her and the one behind that one! I think they call that the the domino effect. Betty, can you believe that energy!?
Ladies and gentlemen, can you believe that VOICE! OK, what play is coming next? TOSOD! He’s swinging those arms all over the place..ooh, a quick back-step, crazy motion to his head, a turn, diggin in…wait for it.. GAHHHH!! Where was I? We are going right into the second play. He’s looking to cover more ground.. now…1stDOWN! 2ndDOWN! 3rdDOWN! 4thDOW…OWOWWN! ⍠MJ hop! The crowd is singing along with him. OK, get ready for it. Here comes a signature Archuleta play. ARHHHHHG!!!! Yes!! Did you see how high those kicks were people??!!!! Huh? What? Time out? Fans are asking…OK, seems the Archies have requested an instant replay on that move folks…Whoa!
And it’s Elevator now…going up, down, pointing… he’s added a lot to this one. He is amazing. We need some crowd participation for this one and he is gonna ask for it people! Is the crowd with him?? Of course they are! bwaaaaah! Just kidding folks. Woo hoo!!! They are doing their part! What a great crowd!! Wait, there has been a whistle blown and flag. What the random? Security is checking the crowd down in the front rows. Seems there was some sideline fan activity. Ahh ok, lets hear the call…”Chair Scooting.” Turns out to have been a good move, no penalty!! Oh these fans here tonight are too clever. Betty!? Whats that? Eeeeeep? Yeah, yeah, I agree. Jump in any time Betty… OK, David has called a 5 second time out for a drink of water. What is coming next, GGTT…would you look at that shoulder action! I can’t take it, and what’s this? Sending out an SOS?? How brilliant was that!! The man does cover songs like no one else in the business! “YOU OWN THAT SONG NOW DAVID!” Oops, ‘scuse me. Forgot I had a mic.
Now what? Oooooh did you see that hand pump? OH MY, he is in total control tonight everyone! Locked down that move. He’s feelin’ it. He is in the zone!! Betty, you’re drooling a little bit girlfriend. Here, have a bib. Whew, he’s sweating. Looks like he is slowing things down to introduce the team. Good strategy. Mark is covering him on keyboard…yea Mark! Ben’s backing him up on on bass..yea Ben! And Steven is masterful on those drums…yea Steven! Appears to be a rotating position for the guitar player. Don’t recognize this guy, but he’s doin’ a great job for our quarterback tonight. OH MY GOSH! He pulled off a, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! a a a a a a DANCE move, was that? was it? what was it?? It was amazing that’s what it was!! I knew he would have some trick up his sleeve, the man is on fire tonight! That was the best moment of this whole night! He has scored some amazing plays but that may just be the highlight of the evening for me! He winds it down and finishes with a fist pump to the beat! Awesome! David is awesome! No doubt he’s the boss on that stage. Oh My, he is singing Heaven now. Fans can’t hold back their love. They are all on their feet now. We had 14 amazing plays, and its all over now, ending with his signature CRUSH, FTW!

Your post is so funny, Skydancer! Loved it all, especially when I got to “chair scooting”!! I could just picture it since I had the fun to be part of it in AZ! I do love football and this was a good “play by play” description! I have to say that I love David more than football and would much rather see a game of “Live with David Archuleta” any day, any time! Oh, those moves, those special steps, those songs, that voice!!!!! David, you’re so dang talented!!! You totally take the place of 11 guys on the field…er stage!!!!

I have a little story to tell about something that happened today. It’s still on my mind, and I thought you guys would like it. I certainly do. đ
I work in a store, and this time of year we always have the Salvation Army collecting money just outside our doors.
Today we had a new bell ringer. Just a young, poor kid wearing a hoodie. And I hope he comes back. Because he decided to sing all day long. He has an amazing voice (shockingly good) – very much like a young Luther Vandross. It was very cold and windy, but he sang Christmas carols all day long. Every time the door opened I could hear him. And every time someone dropped money into the kettle, he stopped singing and said “Bless you”
A very old lady came in the store, pushed by her son in her wheelchair and said to me “His voice is so calming, it just makes me feel good.”
My little story for the day.

Djafan–when I saw that pic #19 this morning before I went to work, I nearly passed out. Then I had to seriously study it. I need someone explain to me the incredible look in David’s eyes. I don’t recall ever seeing this look before. I feel he is in a very serious learning and listening moment with Mannheim Steamroller. He is just not in this world at that moment, imho. This has got to be on the top of my list of favorite photos. âĽâĽ *sigh & hand to heart*

Regarding the pic in #19, David has such an expressive face; many times we refer to him as The man of a thousand faces’, Movie producers and talent scouts would have a goldmine in him if they would start casting him in movie roles. Of course it would have to be a role to David’s liking. He has mentioned various times that he would like to get into acting so this might not be too far-fetched.

Just got home and that vlog!! Thank you, David⼠I really needed that tonite. It is so funny, the stuff that happens when he makes his vlogs There is always something …a bug flying at him an airplane flying overhead,, a cat catching his view, a squirrel,a stuffed gorilla in a closet.,a sister being violent with her pumpkin,a keyboard crashing to the floor and on and on.. He is so dang funny! I was laughing so hard when the noises started with the lawnmower! hahaha! What a joy he is!âĽ

Dear David:
You know, there are times when I dislike watching you sing. When I see you struggle with the notes and I know (I imagine that I know) that you are cringing inside as they can’t help but just come out wrong sometimes. That is life. Or flying fatigue. Or the time of day. Or whatever. It just happens sometimes. To all of us: we can’t always say what it its that we want to say. We can’t always communicate what we hear inside. Sometimes the vessel that delivers is just less than the might of sound it would convey.
So sometimes it hurts me to watch you struggle. I don’t like it. Would I change that if I could? Probably. Which is why God won’t let me. Not with you, not with others that I love. Not a tiny bit. *sigh*
Guess God must feel that you are able to handle it. And rise. Guess sometimes we feel Him with us even more when the notes we expect and are used to fail us, and we have to search for new ones. Even God never repeats a sunset. And some are blanked with clouds of storm. Searching for light at such times only seems to make that light more dear. Listening can hold new import when sound is pressed from both struggle and faith. At such times my “repertoire” had better include a few steps into the unknown.
I thank you for the music you make when things are less than perfect. I thank you for each note. For the possibilities each one extends as part of the experience of the wholeness and brilliance of life.
Acceptance of it all and willingness to extend – come what may – had better become “my kind of perfect”

it brought to mind a verse from my favorite poet, Theodore Roethke:
“I’ll make a broken music or I’ll die.”
I think of all the times he’s gone on when sick, or on AI when he forgot his words and just nailed it the next time. Or when he sometimes doesn’t do a perfect performance of a song but he just laughs and keeps on going. He has the courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other. For the true artist, perfection is optional, but not doing what you love is unthinkable.

Well you are all so good with your thoughts and prayers that I thought that I would ask for a little help from you in that way. A young girl about 6 hours away from me just wrote that she had taken in a young labrador retriever who was obviously abandoned. He is very small and hungry. She was told that he could stay in her house until he got into the garbage and cut his tongue then he was put out. The local vets are helping in that regard but the SPCA has no room for him. She has put up a tent in the very cold night and she is staying there with him but she is desperate. No one has responded to her call for assistance and I just heard about it and it is very late. Well. prayers would definately help tonight…she does work so I don’t know what will happen to him when she is gone.

Looks like the Tuesday interviews will happen, as listed in the announcement…..I just got 2 emails from our local FOX station here in San Antonio, saying that David’s interview here is scheduled for 7:10 a.m. (we’re on central time), so David will begin all his inteviews just after 6 a.m. in Utah—-wow! What an exciting time this is! To be a David fan is like receiving a special blessing every day!

Her David wall is very impressive. I guess I am not the only “older” fan who has a shrine ? đ She selected many of the same pictures of David that most of us have. Imagine her reading his book and still being inspired by someone so young. Makes the heart smile.
In Unplugged the topic often goes to age. Mainly because we stress over how we wish we would be around for all of David’s career milestones. Edith has the best attitude right now. I wonder if when she got home she began to rethink living past the next 3 years to age 100. Meeting David in person only makes you want more David.
The last time I saw his “big dimple smile” was with Alison from A Fine Frenzy. He is surely tickled by Edith.
He was so charming today in these appearances. The local media seems to be huge fans. Fighting over his autograph ?? WHAAT?? The men especially. I like that they show their appreciation of his talent. Natalie WHO?

SALT LAKE CITY — David Archuelta has come home for the holidays and is taking time to sign some autographs for his hometown fans. Last Christmas, Archuleta was the guest performer for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas concerts.
This year the DVD and CD of the performance are available and he will be at Deseret Book’s downtown store following the annual lighting of Temple Square.
“I don’t think there’s anything like Christmas music, really, because it’s something that so many people are willing to listen to and take in,” Archuelta said. “They all the feeling that they feel to come in and it’s just in the air. It’s just everywhere and I love that.”
Archuleta begins his own national Christmas concert tour in December. He will perform for the first time in Cedar City Dec. 10 and at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City Dec. 19.
On Nov. 25, Archuleta will be signing books at the downtown Desered Book location at 6:30 p.m., immediately after the opening of a new window display at the store.

I got my autographed cd’s, that I ordered from Deseret Book, today. *happy face* I swear my USPS delivery lady has it out for me….the cd’s sat at the Post Office for 2 weeks…she never left me a notice that I needed to pick them up down there….I started tracking them last night, and when I went down to get them this morning, they told me they would have been sent back tomorrow…ugh….the neighbors all complain about her also, so I know it’s not just me. Oh well, I have them now. **more smiles**
SB…any word on the puppy? We had someone drop a black bunny off around our place. It was obvious it was someone’s pet because it was very tame. When cold weather started to come, my husband and son caught it and took it to a neighbor’s home. She raises rabbits, so she took it in. We bought a couple of bags of pellets for it to thank her for taking it in. I couldn’t stand to see it try to struggle thru the winter on it’s own. We have wild rabbits around, but they know what it’s all about so I don’t worry about them. Why do people treat animals badly?

Edith meeting and spending time with David was amazing. No more should anyone over 40 feel that they are too old to be a fan. She has done so much to bridge the gap that has caused controversy in the past. He is a singer for all ages as only the good ones are.
I have one more story for tonight…
Thank you for asking about the lonely lost dog and what happened on the very cold night last night. Heidijoy wrote and asked me if I had any news and this is what I wrote to her…
” I have been working with the young girl (19 or 20) on the phone. We live 6 hours from her. She lives in the most easterly part of the province where the atlantic ocean crashes on to her shores. They are in a coal mining town and the living is tough. The young yellow lab, initially walked onto their front doorstep looking cold and dirty and of course hungry. She feels that he was dropped off to find a home, such cruelty. He was hungry and got into the garbage can. He cut his tongue and had blood all over him and all over the kitchen. Her parents were very angry and didn’t want him in the house. She got him to the vets and he helped her out, then she went home and they would not allow her in the door with him. She took a small tent outside for the weekend and then today she had to go to work so she was frantic thinking that she would have to put him out by himself. Well, she slept with him in her car last night but ended driving to her sisters. to her sisters. I spoke with the older sister and she has allowed him to stay there until a man who rescues animals and keeps them on his 300 acre farm, arrives tomorrow. Well the dog is so attached to her and she will be sad to see him go.
The young girl had to defend herself to her friends because she bothered at all when he could have just been put to sleep. I wrote to her and told her what a wonderful thing she had done although she was possibly risking her own health in the cold and she could have lost her job. I told her that she would be rewarded sometime for all that she does and she will gain friends who are like herself as time goes by. I was of course thinking about how we have all come together. I praised her and encouraged her not to ever be discouraged from helping someone or animal. She bought him toys and he keeps them close to him
David would be very impressed with her efforts..”

I just wish that in all of these lovely pre Christmas interviews that they would have asked David questions that pertained more to the MoTab concert series because the American idol part of his life is no longer interesting or relevant especially now. AI is so cheesy compared to talking about the contents of the Glad Tidings Christmas CD and DVD and what went on throughout the days of the concerts. The TV interviewers just can’t let it go. They did not seem to have done their homework because this was all about promoting David now and the MoTabs music. There really is nothing impressive about American idol other than that is where he had his start. I felt sorry that Mack Wilberg was asked so little. It was a fabulous set of performances and it could have been outstanding in the discussions about what this means to his future…I grimace when I hear American Idol and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir talked about in the same sentence. David was classy in the performances and that should have carried over especially for him.

SB, I hear you but I don’t know when the AI references will stop, will they ever? Probably not, it’s how he was introduced to the world. Eventually my hope is that it will be a mere mention.
Mack doesn’t seem to be a man of many words. I would have preferred the other gentlemen who was interviewed during the Motab event. He was so enthusiastic and excited about David and his performances. Mack even then not so much. Not saying that he wasn’t but he doesn’t seem comfortable with these interviews.

That is me Abrra. I am still incoherent, but happy. I was #9 in line today. 2 hours before the signing things were very mellow, not many people. More shoppers than David fans. Then an hour later I had become # 25 or so in line and the place was filling up. When David arrived there were long lines wrapped around every display. He walked in, gave us a wave and a smile and went right to work. No singing at the signing. Not even for the girl ahead of me who told him it was her birthday! He gave her a big grin and said “Well, happy birthday” He looked great as you can see.
When I got home, my grandson asked “How was your day?” Haha. He would never understand how terrific my day was đ

Dja–Mac Christensen is the other guy…he’s the choir president, and also owns the Mr. Mac men’s wear retail chain (probably just here in Utah), so he’s more PR than Mack Wilberg. Mack W. is the one who did all the arrangements on the music, so that could be why they had him speaking with David. But, you’re right, he is a man of few words (but a lot of notes on a music sheet).

I don’t recall seeing this interview being posted –but if it has exusa me. I like the way the guy is so loose and light with David which in turn makes David the same.
Also on that site check out the video ” All your turkey questions , answered –David is in that too! About the third or fourth one down from the top. Cute!

Great pictures, Dayzee and Shawna! Thanks to you Dayzee for your texting me at work and making the time go by faster and getting a mag signed for me! It was so cool to be talking to someone in Utah waiting in line to see David while I was doing hair in Kansas City! I was reading my texts to the ladies and they thought it was great. One lady wants me to ask David if he will visit them there at the nursing home…another one bit the dust!! lol She was singing along with him to Silent Night and Joy to the World! Very off tune, but also very sweet.

Dayzee…I was there too. Wasn’t it just wonderful. I think he has grown up so much in the last year. Still has those sparkly eyes and I am always amazed at how dark his hair looks in person. I couldn’t believe all the people. It was a lovely afternoon and I am still smiling.

Thanks for the comments about the picture I tweeted! Those kids ARE really my best friends, so Abs, you are so right! They are my daughters 3 kids, and she is expecting another boy in March! Such precious little ones! The boy, Tyler, is in school all day and not as much into “Grandma” as much as his two sisters are! Kate is going with me to the SLC concert with her 9 year old cousin and my hubby!! She is so excited! I posted another pic of all of us looking at David as he talks while he signs with the caption that they were mesmerized by him:) Kate (is 5) even told him her favorite song of his is Cat and the Mouse! He was so cute with them!! Brooke is the little one! She is 2, 3 when the new brother comes and Tyler is 7!!
David looked so happy and especially glowy tonight:) I had him sign 3 CDs for these older ladies I visit each month. They are 92, 89, and 81 and they will be so surprised to see they’re autographed personally to them!! Can’t wait to see their faces!!! Might deliver them on Friday rather than wait till the 13th of Dec. to give them. I want them to have the whole month to enjoy it!!!
