Have Moicy on Hanoi ~ David Archuleta Arrives!

Posted by djafan on Saturday, July 23, 2011

As the Capital of Vietnam for over a thousand years, Hanoi has seen many things. What it has not seen on its soil is David Archuleta live in performance. Judging from what just happened in Ho Chi Minh, they got a lot of gaaaah coming their way. Have to start a new thread to contain all of it, because due to the world-wide web, it’s coming our way too! Are you ready for another concert with the Little Prince aka Shiny Smile aka Angel Smile and aka my personal fave title: Baby Smooth Sweat. No you’re not. You just think you are. You once thought you didn’t like plaid too, didn’t you? How’d that work out?

For example:Β  Just what is he playing at with the new and improved EWTRTW? I spy some SERIOUS SASSY at 2:00 and na na na na now stop that! salsa sway at 3:13. And what is that oh so subtle movement and lethal expression he delivers with the phrase, “It’s my own remorse.”?Β  WHAT EVEN your highness? We bow to your august awesomemage.

Behold his increasing majesty and mojo.

So on to Hanoi, Boi. Your loyal and devoted subjects await your entrance!

He’s there! Tired but safe and sound.

David so often, represents so much more for me than a beautiful boy singing his heart out. I have just learned so much in that past three years about how similar we all are, that we all see the same wonderful things in David shining through, (the voice, the beauty, the optimism, the goodness, the steadfastness, the joy…………..). The world longs for (I certainly did) someone that can show us, on a living, daily basis, these are not unattainable goals to use to live your life. The big one for me is HOPE. David gives me hope, hope for myself and hope in the human race. Thanks you to all making and sending us these videos, my daily lessons.

    Hi The Voicers!

Coming out of Lurkville to say I adore your posts Angelica! David-in-Vietnam is a Tale Two Cities as well as a Tale of Two Countries, like many of you have commented. What arms and bombs could not conquer 35 years ago, our Little Prince conquered effortlessly with the wonder of his voice and the purity of his heart. It is magical to see David and his fans, who never knew the terror of the war two generations ago, embraced each other the way John Lennon would have it — β€œImagine there are no countries.” To quote Antoine de Saint-Exupery, β€œGrown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.” David and his young Vietnamese fans are showing us what the world could look like if we let them lead the way!
(And who else is loving the extra sparkle in David’s eyes, which are always glistening with the Southeast Asia sun!)

  35. Hello YJfan, those are lovely comments, like a story and really a lesson to us who usually ignore what the world is like over there now so many years later. It is difficult sometimes to erase the memories when so many movies are made about those times.

We have been saying today that David is not only the Prince of Song but also from how we have seen him with all of the people, he is easily a Prince of Peace. When some glorify singers such as Lady Gaga and take interest in actors like Arnold Schwarzenneger, they are missing out on how important and influential an entertainer can be in our lives..

I think all the love he has been shown in Asia is letting him feel free to really be himself. He is so relaxed and having so much fun up there! He is letting bits of his personality shine through on stage and it’s such a joy to see. (I can imagine him having fun, dancing around and scat singing at a friends party, just like that)

I know what you mean about lessons taught by David. The man knows how to stick to his principles.Today I got the Asian Tour CD. It is a testament to how determined David was about what works for him. This time he was able to include a beautiful lyric booklet and bonus songs. This is so much better than the “Fan Pack”. I will never be convinced that David wanted a CD with no lyrics. I did appreciate the DVD that came with Deluxe Edition. Over all this Asian Tour Cd is perfection! The pictures of David look so natural. His beauty shines in each one. No touch ups needed.

Thanks all for the kind words on the MGR. I seem to see David in slow motion even when he is flying across the stage. He has an inner grace that just allows me to see him at half speed. I had the song in my head when I woke up. I knew what to do πŸ™‚

I did a bit of “research” on Wiki on the dispute MJ had with Sony. It seems that Sony was playing both sides of the table where MJ ‘s recordings were concerned.

“. Invincible was Jackson’s first full-length album in six years, and it would be the last album of new material he released while still alive. The release of the album was preceded by a dispute between Jackson and his record label, Sony Music Entertainment. Jackson had expected the licenses to the masters of his albums to revert to him sometime in the early 2000s. Once he had the licenses, he would be able to promote the material however he pleased and he would also be able to keep all the profits. However, due to various clauses in the contract, the revert date turned out to be many years away. Jackson discovered that the attorney who represented him in the deal was also representing Sony.[151] Jackson was also concerned about the fact that for a number of years, Sony had been pressuring him to sell his share in their music catalog venture. Jackson feared that Sony might have a conflict of interest, since if Jackson’s career failed he would have to sell his share of the catalog at a low price.[155] Jackson sought an early exit from his contract.[151] Just before the release of Invincible, Jackson informed the head of Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola, that he was leaving Sony.[151] As a result, all singles releases, video shootings and promotions concerning the Invincible album were suspended.”

I am fine with any division of Sony sponsoring David’s tour. Jive is a label group under the Sony company umbrella. If David wasn’t happy with Jive, I doubt he would choose Sony to record with. He is showing the “suits” that talent will sell regardless of the representation.

As the info says, Sony has premier record labels and Jive is just one drop in their bucket which does not speak for all of the labels…We will soon know who is organizing his winter tour and when he is ready to record we will know even more. Surely something or someone helpful to him is coming along after this most successful tour.

“Sony Music Entertainment is a global recorded music company with a roster that includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars. The company boasts a vast catalog that comprises some of the most important recordings in history. It is home to premier record labels representing music from every genre. Sony Music Entertainment is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.”

I’m listening to my newly received TOSOD ATE right now!!! How this album didn’t do better is beyond me! Songs with messages, sung by the most beautiful voice in creation. It’s a treasure for sure. I don’t see a note saying that it’s been remastered but it has a very crisp clear sound.

Thanks to all who posted videos today. As a diehard fan from the beginning, I couldn’t help shed tears of joy as I watched David take Asia by storm, one song at a time. The seventeen year old from American Idol with the beautiful voice is becoming a distant memory, replaced by a mature dynamic performer with a beautiful voice who is very sure of himself and who has amazing stage presence.

Perhaps this tour is just what David needed to give his career a boost. By the amount of confidence he’s picked up together with the new dance moves and increased stage presence, it feels like he’s aged two or three years but with the same humility shining through. The reviews have been glowing; there’s not a bad one in the pack.

I think David checks the fansites, especially since he referred to them in his last vlog. If anyone in David’s camp reads this article and our comments, there’s no question that David is deeply loved by his fans here in the states. We may be scattered across the country but we are all here and would love a repeat performance of this Asia tour right here in David’s home country. For the record, New York and New Jersey, where David has many many fans (Sayreville anyone?) never had a full setlist from TOSOD. The only song David sang from the cd on this coast is “Something ‘Bout Love” at Arthur Ashe Tennis Stadium over a year ago. I’m not ranting, just stating the facts.

To the fans in Asia, thank you for giving David a hero’s welcome with all the love and respect that he is so deserving of.

I would love to see the pic you have posted there side by side with one of him from the AI tour. The comparison screams to me. And… it is so fun that he has his own “shiny jacket” now, one of his own choosing. What a different look, no? And the abandon? And the sweat? With the AI tour the passion was all there, just seeping out of his pores…. We absorbed it in and it inspired and warmed and revived us. Here it has become a torrent.
    *sigh*

I am kinda happy about all this. ^_^

Some press about Vietnam’s concert. I am watching twitter for any updates from the Hanoi Vietnam show starting soon.

David Archuleta performs in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for β€˜Idol’ event
    Jodi Jill
    ,National Celebrity Headlines Examiner
    July 23, 2011

David Archuleta stepped off the plan in Vietnam to see dozens of fans waiting with flowers for the entertainer. On Saturday the entertainer arrived in time to rehearse and get ready for a big concert in Ho Chi Minh City.

The former American Idol contestant is headlining the Music Event 2011 staged in Vietnam with will host Archuleta as well as other Vietnamese pop stars. One of the biggest concerts of the month in the country, the fans found a reason to celebrate when the Utah resident arrived.

The opportunity for David Archuleta to perform overseas during the summer had to be exciting. Not only did he warm the hearts of his fans, the entertainer also helped charities in the country as proceeds went to those organizations helping people in Vietnam.

While performing at a concert full of fans might have been the best audience in the world. One small effort on David’s part went such a long way at his performance on Saturday. He said hello in Vietnamese which made the girls go wild.

The Asian Tour 2011 folder of MP3’s is done. If any different songs show up in Malaysia, I will add them and leave a link in comments. Most of the songs are taken from Manila because the sound was excellent. A few songs, such as Blackbird and Works For Me were only performed in Jakarta where the audio was not as clean. I put the best version I could to represent these songs.

    Load up your iPod!
There are too many files to fit on 1 CD. You can either leave off 2 songs of your choice or use 2 CD’s.I kept as much of David’s talking intros and thank yous at the end where it mattered.

Here is the main link to my mediafire page. Click on the folder marked ‘Asian Tour 2011″.

See, I’m just a little too not over thinking there MUST be two David’s. Otherwise how to explain the very shy, unassuming, humble, soft-spoken, ego-less, polite, kinda nervous David talking to the fans in Hanoi then a couple of hours later…I’m expected to believe he’s the same David on stage only THIS David is on fire, a confident, self-assured, bigger than life stage presence, with magnificent to-die-for vocals, and just an all around superb entertainer??

Can someone please explain how he does this?

WHO IS THIS MAN, and why is he doing this to me? Does he go to his room after each performance & like a Superhero, he shakes off this “Alter” with a satisfied smile knowing his audience will never be the same, ever?

That snippet of Heaven…Good grief, David! I’m hoping to be around for another 40 yrs or so to see you as you fulfill your destiny, but you are not making it easy. You are killing me softly & very slowly!

Abs—Have MOICY indeed–if those arms get any more muscular and buffed –what am I going to do? 😯

I don’t think it’s from hauling around big suit cases–as he once said he hates to pack–he said he had a tendency to pack too much–now I believe him. IMO he packed himself and limited himself to one small carry on – hence the lack of wardrobe – he’s a guy after all–a couple pair of pants and about four shirts and a JACKET ought to cover two weeks nicely. More undies than anything. ( Sound like anybody’s husband?)

I think he deep sixed the white light weight T-shirt because when he was done with the show– he probably felt like he had been in a wet T-shirt contest — too transparent–and he’s much too modest for that. πŸ˜‰

SF–Don’t even try to figure out that transformation–from Angel Smile to BABY SMOOTH SWEAT ( Oh, babeeeeeeee ) other than the fact that he’s a genius– there is no explanation.

Holding my breath waiting for a tiny scrap of drum playing–maybe at rehearsal–do ya think? A big thanks to Abs-Bebe -Angelica and Dja and everyone else who find the videos that keep my nose pressed to the screen!!

Gave up on chat last nite -cause I had sound for a short while-then lost it again. πŸ˜₯ Gonna work on that and see how much more I can mess up my computer.

It’s little after 4:30 am Monday in Hanoi, and a little after 5:30 in Kuala Lumpur Maylasia. They will be arriving in Malaysia at about 1 pm (1am EST Monday). Wonder what they have planned for David’s arrival there?

OMG!! I’m exhausted just from seeing the videos of the welcoming he’s received so far. It’s crazier than I ever dreamed it would be! I don’t mind admitting I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was hoping the concerts would be s/o or at least almost s/o, but THIS! This has been so fantastic not only for David, but for us, his fans who have been here from the beginning, who have known, have seen and felt the magic of David. We, who love David so much and want everyone in the world to hear him because to hear him is to love him. There is no turning back once you’ve been struck by his beam of light. His heart-light is so strong, it gives off this crystal clear aura around him which makes him glow all the time. So to see how much he is truly loved & appreciated and how special he has been treated make me so extremely happy.

    I hadn’t seen this interview posted, it’s a really good one. πŸ˜‰
    On Saturday 23rd July 2011, @VioletArchangel said:

Exclusive David Archuleta’s interview(with Tuoi Tre Newspaper – the Youth newspaper) on July 21st, 2011

DAVID ARCHULETA: β€œMUSIC CONNECTS PEOPLE TOGETHER”

David Archuleta: This is the first time I’ve been in Vietnam. Through my fans I have already known about your country a long time ago. Now I’m feeling excited but I’m nervous, too. I don’t know how the show is going to be. Hope everything will be okay. β€œXin chao Vietnam.Cam on” (β€œHello Vietnam. Thank you.” – he said it in Vietnamese)
-Can you tell me about the show tonight? Is there going to be anything special in it?
David: Sorry but I can’t tell you, that will be a surprise. However I think people can go there and enjoy the β€œreal music”, that means feeling the beat, the lyrics of the songs and dancing along with it.
-Many people said that American pop is too β€œsexy” for the time being, what do you think of that?
-David: Really? I usually sing pop music, so am I sexy? (Laughed) Well I think it’s not a big problem. There’re still songs that have positive meaning.
-You came to Asia for your tour this time, so according to you what are the differences between the American listeners and the Asian listeners?
-David: I think we’re already born in differences, aren’t we? We are the individuals and of course our music hobbies are not the same. Maybe the American teenagers like to listen to dancing music more than the Asian teenagers. But what I realize through the tours I’ve had is that the music passion’s what we all have in common. No matter where you’re from, how you look like, what kind of language you use, the music through it all has the power to connect people together.
-After American Idol 2008, you became a famous and a much-loved singer. Do you have any preparation for that?
-David: I was very happy and a little bit β€œshock” with the love that fans gave me in the American Idol. After that, I also had some psychological preparation about the fame I’m going to have. I had some difficulty choosing a way to move on. I like writing music, playing instruments and also singing. I was pretty confused on what I would be, a musician, a singer or an instrument player. But now it seems okay to me. I accompany on the piano and I sing songs that I wrote.
-You are currently following the young, gently pop music. Do you think some day you will change it?
-David: With me, music is born within the life’s creativity. Music also gives you the new and inspirational experiences. I’m not sure about changing my kind of music, but what life gave me, I would give it into my music.
-Do you see yourself changing anything since you’ve become famous?
-David: Basically, I think I’m still me, but of course I’ve experienced a lot. In the last five years of my life I had some positive changes actually: I’m not afraid of being taken photos anymore, I’m more confident, I’m talking a lot now, and I’m able to do more things that I want.
-You had published the book β€œChords of Strength”. It’s a very interesting book. Will you continue to write the next part of the book?
-David: Oh I wrote that book when I was 18. It’s a chance for me to share the teenage problem that I’ve been through. It’s a meaningful time for everyone, when they give big decisions. And yes, I’ve thought about publishing the next part of the book, maybe from the diary’s pages that I am writing, in this tour.
-What’s your plan for future, David?
-David: I’m going for an Asian tour. Thanks to that I’ve already had some inspiration to write a song for the Asian fans, and it’s just completed last week. When this tour has ended, I am coming back to America and continuing my music projects. I want to write more meaningful songs.
    -Thank you, David Archuleta!

I love the song Wait…I really thought we’d hear it on this tour…one more chance in Malaysia…hope it won’t have the same fate as Good PLace…. not gonna hear it live :(. And as what usually happens I wasn’t a huge fan of EAM…until he sang it live! He seems to do that a lot!

Betsy and Bebe, loved those interviews, love all the reviews of David. They love him everywhere he goes, no doubt about it.

My neighbor down the street has 2 sons. One is having a birthday/pool party today. I have been having to listen to the thumping of rap music, and other non music for the whole afternoon. I’m on edge, so please forgive me.I keep coming in here.
We live in a crazy world where we are told good is bad and bad is good, and we have lost our moral compass, or at least it is spinning in many directions, and we all know what is offered up as entertainment for the most part is garbage.
Its not real, and it won’t last.People will get bored with over the top, and sick of it. heck, people already are. Trash talking, meat wearing, crotch grabbing, groping everyone in your dancing entourage, 50 backup singers on stage because you can’t sing and 20 dancers to distract people from the fact you can’t really carry a tune on your own so your voice is filtered through weird synthesizers or whatever you call them…and as I heard today, dropping foul nasty language and the f bomb and calling it music??I have such a headache now, I am not kidding.

Then there is our David He is touching people in a way, we have never seen any American music artist touch people. Its why we all gather here. It is why we love him. and Asian fans, be assured.. his time will come in his own country. We are a diverse and large nation that has spawned many great singers, and I know David will one day take his rightful place in American music history, as the best of the best. Seeing the support in other countries is a beautiful thing.David is a world class singer and he is proving it everyday.

David said…”No matter where you’re from, how you look like, what kind of language you use, the music through it all has the power to connect people together.”

through him, we have all found a common bond and a wonderful connection to each other.

Sky, I know what you mean. I don’t even listen to the radio anymore. And I’ll be here waiting for the day when the U.S. embraces David’s music they way they have in Asia. Hope your headache gets better soon.

Have ya’ll seen the photos on the Archuleta Phillipines site? They are really good! And the tags are so funny.

It gave me a headache just reading what you had to endure today–I can only imagine. I might have had a nervous breakdown. Thank the Lord I’m old and crabby ( we can get away with stuff ) cause if I were in your shoes this afternoon –I probably would have said what you said ( up there ) out loud.

And a big Amen to the rest of what you said. Bravo

On another note–if I had the knowledge of Davids arrival time back in the US–and had the right connections–David would be greeted with a huge ” Welcome Home” banner outside the terminal at his exit door.

It would say Welcome home David–job well done–Your US fans love you too!

    It’s tonight, Dak!

Lani, Welcome to The Voice! Out from delurking, please have the courage to post again. Your comment was appreciated!

Betsy#101 “…I am cheating on Good Place with Everything and More.”
MT#109 “…I am cheating on Wait with EAM.

Betsy, MT, I’m cheating on Falling Stars with Everything and More! Can’t get enough of that song!

Lots of videos today but the one that stood out for me the most is the turquoise striped shirt one and not for the stripes. Watching David’s face as he heard the Vietnam fans sing his songs to him put a huge smile on my face. It had to be very gratifying for David to hear the fruits of his labor, especially “Wait”, a newly released song.

SB#106 Hope you’re right about David wearing the same clothes because of a DVD that might be made from the Asia tour. It makes perfect sense.

On to Ustream and David’s arrival in Malaysia.

Bebe, LOL It looks like EAM is really getting around. We’re gonna have to keep our eye on that one. πŸ˜‰

I posted a commment, but the spam filter must have eaten it. Have you guys seen the pics on Archuleta Philipines? (the comment had the link) They are so good!

I was going to try to stay up for the UStream, but don’t think I’ll make it. I’m fading fast. Hope they record it. *fingers crossed*
