David Archuleta at Stadium of Fire Tonight!!!

Posted by djafan on Saturday, July 2, 2011

Stadium of Fire, the largest stadium fireworks show in America kicks off tonight with an archer shooting a flaming arrow into the night sky. This is a huge event that many of David’s fans will be coming from far and wide to attend. The show will feature over 1000 dancers and a fly-over from Hill Air Force Base.

It will be a spectacular evening of fireworks, patriotism and of course, music. The crowd at LaVell Edwards Stadium is estimated to number 50,000. Outside the stadium “we expect 250,000 people on every piece of green grass in Provo and Orem,” says Eric Rasband, UDOT’s traffic lead on the I-15 Core Project.

Watch the video below ↓  to see the preparations being made by law enforcement and UDOT for this massive onslaught of people.

Traffic Coordinators Prep for 4th of July Rush-Fox 13 Utah

This will be the largest stage ever constructed for this event, 150 feet wide and 40 feet high!

Emory Cook, communications manager for the Freedom Festival, said he doesn’t think Paisley and Archuleta know what to expect before they come to the stadium. “I think they don’t know what they are getting themselves into, how special this is, until they are here and experience the atmosphere,” Cook said.  “The show will be broadcast to over 1 million military personnel all over the world on the American Forces Network,” Cook said.

Considering the events of late, I don’t think we as David’s fans know what to expect either.  Every time we think he’s done everything he can, he gives us more. Tonight and all weekend long, we celebrate the country’s hard-won independence. As fans of David Archuleta, we celebrate another kind of independence that this event will showcase. His independence as an artist.

“Freedom is never free.”  ~Author Unknown, but… “Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.”  ~Moshe Dayan

It’s good to be alive, spending time with family and friends, waiting up for videos again. Hope to see many of you in chat tonight as we fanticipate together the fireworks to come!

This is such an exciting weekend for fans! I read the size of the stage,

“This will be the largest stage ever constructed for this event, 150 feet wide and 40 feet high

WOWZA! David will have room to run around 🙂 This is another dream come true for him to perform for hometown fans. I bet he would be amazed if he knew how many came from out of town just to see him tonight.

I have lived in the northeast most of my life. All my adult life, I lived in Rhode Island. The big thing in the smallest state is the parade in Bristol.

Since 1785 the Town of Bristol, RI has hosted the oldest continuous celebration in the country. This year its the 226th edition.

I now live in the Boston area. Every year since 1929 there has been a Boston Pops concert on the grassy area along the Charles River. Many thousands come to the city with lawn chairs and blankets to claim a spot by the concert hatch shell to soak up the music.

The highlight of the evening is when the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky is played while the fireworks burst in synch to the music.

I would love to hear what the big event is in your area 🙂

Happy 4th of July to all of you Arch Angels and Archies!!!

Happy SOF Day to everyone, especially those lucky enough to attend. I can’t wait for videos.

    This made me smile:
“Emory Cook, communications manager for the Freedom Festival, said he doesn’t think Paisley and Archuleta know what to expect before they come to the stadium. “I think they don’t know what they are getting themselves into.”
Pffft. I don’t think Emory Cook knows what he and the Freedom Festival are in for with a bunch of music-starved DA fans.

Also, FOD has this tweeted posted from @rusharr:
Morning folks! Look like it’s gonna be happy Saturday! with @DavidArchie”s songs are expected on the aired on @FlyFM958 ! *big smiles.

Happy July 4th weekend to all! Eeeek! So excited for todayyy! SOF is here and David’s new website will soon be up! Yayyyyy!

What an amazing week! Had so much to catch up on. Dakgal, MT, Betsy … by the way, really enjoyed your posts! Just when I can’t get Everything and More out of my mind, David blows us away with his best ever rendition of Falling Stars. Many thanks to Abrra for the audio to download. Ahem, besides his fitted tee, he wore his short haircut quite well didn’t he?

Angelica … You picked such a fitting quote by Moshe Dayan: “Freedom is the oxygen of the soul” as it really speaks for what David meant when he said he could “finally breathe”. You can see how happy he is … loving the ride on this unrestrained freedom train! July is going to be an epic month!

  13. Abrra, Our local airport is having a hot air balloon launch for the next 3 days. To see them all up in the sky is so gorgeous! There is also Air shows featuring the Blue Angels. We have entertainment and many of us gather for neighborhood get togethers full of funnin’ and feastin’! One of the really cool things about this Air show is two of our local disabled Iraq veterans were selected to fly yesterday in one of the aerobatic airplanes! I couldn’t help but get emotional while watching these guys come out of the plane so full of smiles and thankfulness for the ride-of-their-lives! They flew upside down and took many turns that would’ve probably made me nauseous! The festivities last until Monday with a huge fireworks display and the balloon illume on the fairgrounds is a beautiful sight to enjoy!
I hope all you wonderful peeps that frequent this awesome site are having a great day! Happy 4th of July!

Hello to all at The Voice:

Just swinging by to see all the excitement. Whew. And, there is much more than the 1.21 GigaWatts of energy that it took to take the DeLorean time machine back to the future, emanating from everyone here.

Every time I come by here I get the lyrics of Huey Lewis and the New’s “Power of Love” playing in my head….

It don’t take money and it don’t take fame
don’t need no credit card to ride this train
Tougher than diamonds and stronger than steel
you won’t feel nothin’ till you feel
you feel the power, just the power of love
That’s the power, that’s the power of love
You feel the power of love
you feel the power of love
    feel the power of love.
    😀

Yep, I feel the power of all ya’all’s GigaWatt love!

Happy 4th all and Happy SOF day!

    New interview from Funfare Magazine

    The flipside of David Archuleta
CONVERSATIONS With Ricky Lo The Philippine Star Updated July 03, 2011 12:00 AM

Perhaps this much his fans know about David Archuleta who finished runner-up to his namesake, David Cook, in the seventh season of American Idol:

David will turn 21 on Dec. 28. He was born in Miami, Florida (to Jeff Archuleta and Lupe Marie Mayorga who is a salsa singer and dancer from Honduras) and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, when David was six years old, at about the same time when he started singing, inspired by a Les Miserables video. He’s a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Boy Scouts of America.

“That Les Miz video got me started on the road to where I am now,” said David.

At age 10, he started performing publicly as contestant in the Utah Talent Competition in which he sang Dolly Parton’s version of I Will Always Love You.

“I won in the Child Division,” David recalled, confirming an entry in the Internet. “Maybe because my performance got me a standing ovation.”

At age 12, David performed on several episodes of Star Search, finishing the Junior Vocal Champion which he eventually lost to a girl contestant.

Then came American Idol where he stirred the proverbial hornet’s nest when he sang the John Lennon song Imagine during the show’s 1970s-themed edition when he skipped one verse and sang another one since he, according to a critic, wanted to avoid singing the line “no religion, too” because of his faith.

“I sang the third verse instead of the first because it was my favorite and it has a great message,” David explained during our phone Conversation. “My religion had nothing to do with it.”

That explanation and many other things are some of the revelations David made in this piece.

Will David sing Imagine during his concert at the Big Dome on July 18? That remains to be seen. But for sure, he will do songs from his latest album, The Other Side Of Down.

Meanwhile, uncover more on the flipside of David Archuleta.

How do you feel about this your third visit to the Philippines?

“Oh, I’m really excited to go back to the Philippines. I’m looking forward to performing for my fans there. The last time I was there (for a showcase at a mall), I did only a few songs but now I’m doing a whole show, just myself.”

What do you remember most from your previous visits to the Philippines?

“I remember the fans. I think that’s what I always remember a lot, the interaction with them and things like that. I remember the mangoes. I always tell my friends about the mangoes when they ask me about the Philippines. They soooooo good!”

This time around, would you have enough time to see more of the Philippines after your concert?

“You know, I’m not sure. But I think I might have a little bit of time. The first time I was there, we were not even allowed to go out or leave the hotel during our free time. I wanted to go out and try to ride the jeepney but I didn’t have the chance to. This time, I will ride a jeepney so that I can say, ‘I went to the Philippines and I rode a jeepney’.”

You started in the business at age six. Don’t you feel that maybe you’ve missed part of your childhood?

“No. I mean, show business is part of my childhood. I didn’t have any other way of spending my childhood. To be honest, I still feel like I’m too much of a kid. I don’t know. But I feel like I never have to grow up. You can get older and you can still feel young. You can be young at heart no matter how old you are. I still love to go to theme parks, I still like to play videogames, I still love watching cartoons and stuff like that.

Can you still do what ordinary folks do now that you are rich and famous — you know, like strolling in the mall and things like that?

“You know what I’d like to go to? Swap meet! You know, I like the people who are working there…It’s their own shop, it’s their own stuff. It’s just kind of exciting to me.”

How different are you now from two years ago when you were in the Philippines? What can we expect from your concert on July 18?

“You can see how I’ve changed in my latest album. It’s a lot more light-hearted, it’s more fun, the words in the songs are reflective of the kind of person that I was. I worked hard to make sure that I conveyed to everyone what the songs were saying.”

In your concert on July 18, aren’t you going to include Imagine in your repertoire? It was one of your favorite songs on American Idol.

“Sometimes I put it in there and sometimes I don’t. I don’t like to sing it too much because it was such an overwhelming experience singing that song. I didn’t expect the reaction that I was gonna get from it. I’m not sure what it was I did. I just sing songs that I love. I don’t know if I can ever get that moment again that I did on American Idol when I sang (Imagine) there. That song changed my life. I get nervous singing that song because I want it to be good.”

Changed your life in what way?

“Changed my life in the sense that it made people pay attention to what I was doing. It was amazing how people connected to that song and to my performance. That song is very close to me and I was happy to discover that other people could feel the same way.”

The song was controversial because some people thought that you avoided singing the line “No religion, too.” They thought that your being a Mormon had something to do with it. Could you clarify that?

“The whole song has an amazing message. The first verse is the one that everyone knows so I chose to sing that verse. The line ‘no religion, too’ is in the second verse. My other favorite verse is the last one. But then, I could only sing one verse on American Idol so I chose the first verse. In the third verse, it says, ‘Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can,’ and I love that line. It asks everyone a question, ‘I wonder if you can.’ And then it says, ‘Imagine all the people living life in peace.’ It’s such a great message — the brotherhood of men. That line gives me goose bumps. I would say, ‘You know what, I don‘t know if I would be here next week, so what do I want to say?’ So I picked that song and I picked that line.”

Would you consider the Beatles among your musical influences?

“Even if some people don’t want to admit it, the Beatles have influenced everyone in one way or another because they changed the direction where the music was going; they really extended what music could do, they introduced a new sound into the world and it forever changed what music could do to people. My other musical influences? To name a few…Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, John Meyer, Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Mariah Carey.”

Have you worked with any Filipino artist?

“I did a duet with Charice on a Christmas album. We sang Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Charice is always very nice; she’s a down-to-earth person. She’s very grateful for everything that has happened to her. She’s very close to her mom and that’s what I like about her because I’m very close to my mom, too. I’m always happy to hear her talk about her mom.”

    Hmmmm, how’s your love life?

“My love life? You know, I haven’t really done anything with my love life. I feel like there’s never been any reason to rush it. And so I’m still just waiting for the right person. If the right girl comes, then I would start getting into my love life. Right now, I’m not focusing on that.”

What kind of girl would be appealing to you?

“That’s always the first question that people ask me…all the time. You know, a blonde or brunette? Hahahahaha! I would tell them, ‘You know, I don’t even notice. A lot of times I don’t even remember how someone looks like.’ I can remember hanging out with someone but for some reason I have a hard time remembering the face. I can remember what I talk to them about, sometimes I remember their names. Sometimes my own friends, I just don’t think about how they look.”

    What about girls?

“It’s the same with girls. I mean, it’s important to be attracted to someone in the way they look but I think the more important thing is to be attracted to their personality, someone who is very respectful to themselves and also to other people, and someone who can have a good time, someone who is funny, who can make you laugh, who can make you smile, and who is adventurous, who likes to go out …you know, eat in a good restaurant, go hiking or rock-climbing.”

(Note: David Archuleta’s concert at the Big Dome on July 18 is produced by Ovation Productions and etc, in cooperation with The Philippine STAR, 2nd Avenue, Talk TV, Diva Universal, Basketball TV, Solar, Jack TV, Business World, EDSA Shangri-La, Home Radio 97.9, Mellow 94.7, RX 93.1, RJ 100.3 and Optima Sign Solutions. Sure love this place!! Read the article as soon as it was posted but came back a while ago to read all the comments!!!

Just a note, u cannot take anything into the stadium, no food or even water, and they usually confiscate them when they go through your bags if u do, as well as umbrella’s too!! At least that holds true at all the football games!! I may be wrong cause I have never been to the SOF before, but don’t be surprised if that happens. Also, the firreworks usually start as soon as it gets dark so I doubt David will get to song longer than 30 minutes because they r on a schedule to start them then!

Well, Pattirae is on her way to my house and then off we go to Provo! Meeting Sweetonda there! So excited to meet new fans and put faces to their names on twitter and here!!! SO EXCITED:-))))))))

His vocal ability is superb, and his stage presence keeps improving. He even had some back-up dancers for one song and a video at the beginning of the patriotic medley. The band sounded great. I loved seeing little David for the SSB and then the adult David steps up. Wow, is all I can say. Can’t wait to see what he does in Asia!

‘Sky concert’ fireworks rock Stadium of Fire

    The David mention here:

Utah native David Archuleta made an unannounced early appearance on stage to sing the national anthem followed by the frisson of a flyover of the Hill Air Force Base 388th Fighter Wing accompanied by fireworks, which segued into an apparently live transmission to the audience from a member of the military on active duty.

Later in the show, Archuleta opened for Brad Paisley. Archuleta found fame on American Idol and established himself with his song “Crush” which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since sold two million downloads.

“These mountains are beautiful, Utah is just beautiful,” Archuleta told the crowd between songs. “I love it here. It’s crazy how many of you are here. I love being home and want to thank all of you guys for the support you have given me.” He closed by singing a patriotic salute to the troops.

Had such a great time last night into the wee hours waiting up for videos and chatting. He is always worth the wait and never disappoints. That medley of America the Beautiful/My Country Tis of Thee is the most heart-rending rendition of a patriotic song I’ve ever heard. It was most kind of him to sing that too, as I had already provided the ginormous gif on the front page with the words, “Let Freedom Ring.” I posted 8thRowCenters video underneath those words so you can see them as he sings them. You can tell that those aren’t just empty words for him; he is a true patriot. Hope everyone is continuing to enjoy the spirit of this holiday weekend. I just made a flag cake! Fun stuff! I have been wandering around in twitvid land looking for things to copy for Unplugged. I came across this from Arseno Hall’s Star Search page. I won’t be using this video, but I wanted to share it for its “historical” value.

This was the opening clip for the “Battle of the Champions” show after season 3. It was a special one time episode.
“I managed to end up as the Junior Grand Champion on Star Search 2, losing the Junior Grand Champion “Battle of the Champions” title to Tiffany Evans.”
Quoted from David Archuleta Chords of Strength p. 77

David appears briefly in a few spots:
    :56-1:00
1:05-1:09 WARNING! He has big tears 😦
    1:33-1:38 More tears

    http://www.twitvid.com/M9FXW

He mentioned in COS how emotional he was while on Star Search. We now have visual proof how it affected him.

    Sweetonda,

It was so much fun sitting with you at the fan luncheon/dinner. What a great time was had by all who attended. Really, Janeal put so much into it!!! Everyone had a little red sack by their plate with pictures, bracelet, name tag picture, bookmark and candy in them. There were even drawings for some other goodies. It just so happened that all 3 of us won in the drawings (Shawna, Sweetonda, and I). haha It was so much fun saying hello to all the sweet friends we have met because of David. I have to say here that it was a miracle that I was well enough to go to the luncheon and concert. I had been so fatigued all week from my last round of chemo last Mon that I wondered if I was going to be able to make it. But I woke up yesterday and knew it was going to happen, that I was feeling strong enough to be there. Shawna helped me through the entire evening—–what a dear friend she has become to me. (We met at the SLC Women’s Conference when we sat next to each other.)

Now to the concert!!!!! Let’s see, what words in the English language can possibly describe the experience??? Looks like I can’t even come up with one that will do the evening justice. When It showed David singing the SSB as a 12 yr old and then morphed to him singing live, well the tears started at that moment and showed up again when he sang his tribute to the troops. He is to be reckoned with that’s for sure. No one can sing songs like that as well as David can. The people around us became fans as we visited with them. (By the way, Steve Young, a famous quarterback for BYU and San Fransico 49ers, was sitting behind us with his family and caused quite a stir to those sitting in our area.) But I digress——David’s set was PERFECTION and everyone was looking at Shawna and I as we sang at the top of our lungs, every word to every song. We were absolutely in heaven.

We didn’t get home until 1 am and I thought I would be feeling it today. But I feel great and so happy and excited and blessed to have been able to experience such a wonderful evening. Happy 4th of July to everyone. I love you all.

The outfit David wore to sing the SSB looked perfect to me. Blue shirt, vest, white pants and belt were just right for the occasion. And all well-fitted.
I was amazed to see young David on the Jumbo screen begin the song, and then melted as 20-year-old David took over and sang the rest. He is simply a master at conveying the soul of that music. After hearing so many renditions that were automatic or self-serving, his is overwhelmingly earnest. Also, the patriotic medley at the end of his set was so heartfelt. He breathes fire into those lyrics and reminds us of how and why they were written. He took such care with every phrase, every word, every note. I could imagine him working so hard to put that together.
Sorry, I have no clue about his new band. I could not see or hear them beyond David. I did not even realize there were immodest dancers up there until I saw them on the video. LOL There were a group of four twenty-something fellows sitting next to me who sang along and knew every word of David’s songs. Bless them.
I am still in a cloud from last nights nirvana, but I feel this little nudge that tells me I won’t be seeing David for a long while. Thank heavens for this and other fan sights that keep us in touch with David and give us the opportunity to indulge our ODD.

Aw, thanks for sharing that. I know that medley has me so captivated by the sincerity of his emotion and the beauty of his voice. I too imagine he worked very hard to arrange that masterful performance and put so much into conveying all that he felt. You can see by his expression in a couple of the screen caps I just posted that he put his whole heart and soul into it.

Gave me the whole day of July 3rd to listen to David sing his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, My Country Tis of Thee (when is the last time you heard someone sing that?) and America the Beautiful.

Which leads to a more meaningful, heart-felt 4th of July. His voice awakens and enriches your whole being!

It says 000 00 00 00 when I click http://davidarchuleta.com/ My time zone is eastern daylight time. There has be only speculation about why the clock showed different time depending on where you lived.

The web site you mentioned http://absolutearchies.blogspot.com/ has a screen shot of the new site that has been opened to help promote David’s tour and TOSOD Asian Tour Edition CD, in Asia.

That is all I know. Everyone assumed it was an across the board official site that would be open to the whole fan base by the time the clock reached 000 00 00 00. This does not seem to be what is happening.

I have no information on when David will have an official site for fans all over the world to visit. We may know more after the Asian tour is finished.

They are running LAST YEAR’S A Capitol Fourth with David Archuleta after the this years with Jordin Sparks

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Also On Monday: Fireworks and More Fireworks

Public television’s event from Washington, “A Capitol Fourth” (CPTV, Monday, 8 p.m.) features a different “American Idol” alumni, Jordin Sparks, who will sing that non-patriotic song, “Beauty and the Beast,” that will be danced by recent “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Chelsea Hightower with Mark Ballas to honor the film’s 20th anniversary. Jimmy Smits hosts the show that also features performances by Matthew Morrison of “Glee,” Little Richard, Josh Groban, the Broadway cast of “Million Dollar Quartet,” Kelli O’Hara and the National Symphony Orchestra.

But all people want to watch any of the shows, of course, will be the fireworks.

Locally, you can literally compare this year’s event with last year’s, as the 2010 “A Capitol Fourth” (CPTV, Monday, 9:30 p.m.) follows, with Smits hosting Gladys Knight, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, John Schneider and David Archuleta. They must like that one at CPTV; it will be the third time they will be showing it over the three day weekend.

Long time no squee together…I’m overdue and planning to get more caught up soon…miss ally’all DA peeps!
but meantime, had to stop in today today just to say a Happy and Safe Independence Day to all!

Just got a patriotic wave as I drove back home through my little New England town that dresses up in their Red, White and Blue for their
“Big” little parade…the town is a picture of “Americana” at it’s best on this day, and it just makes you grateful for all we have on these days.

And when I got in my car Brad Paisley’s current hit was appropriately playing:

If there’s anyone that still has pride and the memory of those
that died defending the old red, white, and blue,
This is country music and we do

So turn it on, turn it up, and sing a long
This is real; this is your life in a song
Just like a road that takes you home
Yeah this is right where you belong
    ****
And I couldn’t help but think how awesome July 2nd in Utah must have been, with David as the icing on the cake.
I’m sure I’m not original in saying….Let Freedom Sing!! 🙂
Can’t wait to come back and see all the details~until then~Have a great Holiday, All!

It is a screen cap that I made from the web site http://www.davidarchuleta.info which I then cropped, which most anyone can do. I guess we had the same idea. I did not take anything from your twitpic page. I am fully capable of making screen caps on my own. I have tagged the screen cap picture with proper credit.

As you can see the collage in #165 is using the same picture. She made her own screen cap. It is common to see similar screen caps by fans.

We make every effort to get the source of an image. If someone copies a picture an puts on their twitpic page, I have no real way to know if it theirs or someone else’s picture. I credit the place where I find the picture.I realize that its very easy to copy a picture and post it to a twitpic site. I have no control over who copies from others. I do not do that without giving credit.

Happy 4th from Saudi. Actually, it’s now the 5th of July here. It’s my first time posting, but I plan to be here more often now that I have more time on my hands. Still trying to get adjusted to the time change (7 hrs ahead of Florida), not to mention many other cultural differences and adjusting to life on a military post again. I do love it, though.

Earlier today, I was very excited to catch some of David’s Stadium of Fire performance on the Armed Forces Network (AFN). He was absolutely amazing. His final medley dedicated to the military troops filled my heart with such pride. The full Stadium of Fire program is airing again now, so I’m staying up to watch David’s full performance!

I’m so glad I was able to be in the throng of people at SOF! The luncheon was tons of fun . I had my daughter and my 6-yo gdaughter with me. My gdaughter was in heaven with the goodie bag. David’s performance that evening was heart-stopping. During the fireworks there was one set of 3 or 4 booms that literally shook the stadium and de-fibbed my heart for me. Funniest part of that, was that my 2-yo grandson slept thru it even tho’ they nearly shook him out of his dad’s arms. We had a perfect evening–other than a mile-plus walk to and from our vehicle, and a 45 min. wait to get out of the parking lot, but the beauty of the whole show kept us happy thru it all. The weather was perfect, the mountains were gorgeous, the people around us were so great (one group was kind of weird, but ignore-able ~ that’s now a word), and the entertainment was out of this world!!

As is usual, the videos don’t do full justice to actually being there, but they are so appreciated, even by those of us who were there. It’s just impossible to take it all in at once, so it’s great to be able to come back again and again and re-live the event.

Thank you djafan #80 for that link. 🙂 It’s on it’s way to my iPod!

I hope everyone had a good holiday and is ready to hit the work week as we wait (again) for David’s next stop!!
