David Archuleta ~ Portrait of a Man

Posted by djafan on Tuesday, June 21, 2011

In a recent interview with Yes World, David painted a portrait of himself. It is the portrait of a man. A man of deep convictions and a will of iron.  A man of clear-eyed vision and remarkable patience. A man of wisdom and courage. The kind of wisdom to “know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em and know when to walk away” and the kind of courage to say no to what feels wrong, let the consequence follow. In this interview is revealed a man who is nobody’s puppet. A man who is not afraid to chart his own course, who can not be bought, and who will not be moved from the path he has set for himself. He will be true to the gift he has been given from that God he relies upon. He talks candidly of leaving his label and management. He tells of other offers he has had to sign with other labels. He turned them all down in order to find his own direction and his own style.

What did they offer him? They offered him money. He knows it can’t buy happiness. They promised him fame. He knows that “gets old fast.” They offered him the world and he chose the road less traveled. He chose to stay true to himself and to the kind of music only he knows is right for him. No one can tell an artist what to paint or what to sing or write or in what direction he should grow. That kind of growth needs time and space to develop and thrive.  David is wise enough to know that and he is not willing to compromise his genius. He would not call it genius, he is too modest, but we all know what is at stake here.

There are so many things about this interview I find irresistible: the powerfully simple statement that God is his mentor and guide. His incurably romantic yet patiently responsible views on love and marriage and having kids. My absolute favorite part is where he paints a scene, thrilling in its boldness (love the ego) of the present unfolding into a future of his own making, a future of his decisions married to his vision and his unshakable belief in himself.

“I want to spend time writing, get those songs together, and then go out and say I’m ready. I’m ready to make an album and show it to the record labels and say this is the music I’m going to do. Are you supportive, do you believe in me?”

Now that’s how a real man does it.

  1. Hi everyone!

This is a fly-by (again). So David finally found the time to make a special vid for Pinoy Archies. Here is the YT version

    Dear TheVOICE ADMIN,

My 2011 Archie Channel (JRforDA11) got suspended over the One Voice songs 😦 so I upped a new one JRforDA2011 and so far I was able to up all the 2011 Asian Tour vids. Am sharing this because in case you cited my videos under the JRforDA11 channel, I don’t want them to end up as dead links in your site. So if you want to update them, you can find them here – [http://www.youtube.com/user/JRforDA2011?feature=mhee]

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

ps: Will continue re-posting other 2011 vids. Good they are just under 50 🙂

This amazing artist, David Archuleta, never disappoints. Just when I think I know him, he reveals so much more of himself. It makes me care for him all the more as a person.

“What did they offer him? They offered him money. He knows it can’t buy happiness. ” So true.

I am going to share my comment box with another poster who came on late last night. I don’t want her words to be left behind.

    Hello all,

Love all you guys commnents above.

Love the interview, David is a very inteligent young man, his maturity is mind boggling indeed… how can a young man in his 20 view life and how to live his life the way he does, I don’t know, the way he talked about his future wife, his children and how he wants to be the best dad and husband he can be is just so heartwarming and I never heard of any 20 year old man talk about that topic that way or ever haha….his decision to leave Jive and Weg was so brave and wise too , may I add I see some stubborness (is this the word!?) in him too haha.

This’s really making it ‘s hard to believe he’s real !!!! He has the most handsome face I’ve ever seen ( if break everything down like his eyes, his lips, hair ect ..each one still is the most beautiful part in it’s own right!!) most amazing soulful expessive voice, most amazing character a human being can posses, I can go on and on… I’m now more convinced than ever that he’s God’s finest model of how human should be like !!!

Wheww, ok I let it out a bit, thank goodness for the Voice at least I can express all this without you guys looking at me strangely lol. Hooo , I don’ t even know him but I care for him as if he’s my own son ….Oh ok I better stop.

OH Angelica! I am so giddy over the new interview. So happy he has had other offers, yet so happy to see the confidence to walk away from them. I cannot wait to see what’s next. His comments about dating & marriage & kids are so mature. I have so much respect for him. I work with alot of young adults, and most of them have been in serious relationships, or dated a lot of people, and most are sexually active. There is so much drama in their lives, and the focus is not on the future but the present. I try to gently remind them, when they ask my opinion, that they need to value themselves and ask themselves some tough questions about what they want and what path they are on. It has become very clear to me what an anomoly David truly is. The way he is waiting to kiss “the one” and the respect he shows is incredibly mature. His strength of conviction is very inspiring. I wish that more young people could aspire to that.

The Asia tour will be so amazing for him & the fans. The videos will keep us afloat. That lead pic is perhaps my fave ever of all time. He is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. I don’t care what he or anyone else thinks about that. 🙂

Angelica, What a beautiful article. I love your “portrait” of David, both the photo and your lovely expression of the way you see David. I wish I could express myself that way. Thanks for putting the way so many of us feel into words.

For a man still so young, he certainly has his head on straight. I really admire the strength and courage it took to walk his own path. And that portrait is perfection. I wish I had the words to express all that I see in his eyes. ♥

    Angelica,
WOW! I don’t even know what to say to this. Everything about this post is amazing. First, the photo is breathtaking and then, well, the article is exactly what I was feeling as I read David’s interview. This young man has matured right before our eyes and is ready to take on the world, but on his terms. I felt like a proud Mama reading David’s words concerning his path, his destiny.

It seems weird to care so much about someone I have only meet once, and for less than 5 minutes at that, but since that day when AI aired his audition, I have been totally mesmerized by this young man. It could be that I have watched him grow up right before my eyes. It could be because he is so close in age to my own children (daughter 19 and son 17) that it is easy to want to support him and protect him. It could be that he is everything that I would ever want in a young man for my daughter.(Sadly, this will never happen.) It could be that he has the values and ideals that I wish for my son to strive for. It could be that his VOICE mended a part of my heart that had been broken and stomped upon and brought me back to life. What ever it is, this young man holds a special place in my heart.

Although it can not compare to the awesomeness of this article, I thought I would let everyone know that I have finally completed and posted “Character Makes the Man” on my blog. Let me know what you think.

Wonderful article, Angelica, as usual. It amazes me how David inspires you to write from your heart and you don’t know him. And yet you get him. It’s like reading beautiful heartfelt poetry. Even though I feel the same I could never put it in the words you write. David inspires so many people to do good and noble things that they wouldn’t necessarily have done in this life. David loves God and David shows his love by living a life worthy of God’s love. David talks about listening to his “gut feelings” when it comes to major decisions. That gut feeling is God talking to him and he knows it. There have been times in my life where I was faced with a decision that I had to make and when I made that decision I had an overwhelming feeling of darkness and sadness. This happened even though I thought that I was making the right decision, a righteous decision but I went wit my gut feeling that I should change my mind and take another path. It always turned out to be the best decision for reasons that I wasn’t aware of at the time. So, I know what David is talking about when he says he is going with his “gut feelings”. He carries the Spirit of God within to lead and guide him. it just confirms that I am doing a good thing by showing support for David Archuleta. He is certainly worth my time.

Angelica, thank you for your beautiful article! Wonderful insight into that amazing interview. The same quote from Robert Frost came to mind for me as well when I read the article:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    And I believe it will.

Angelica : Your every words are so true, I thought my level of respect for him had reached the highest point but then he gave this interview to proof that it can never reach there cause it will continue to grow as he get older and wiser. It’s nice to know that he’s not here for fame and fortune but to earn respect and to achieve his goal of being the man that he wants to be… stand your ground and follow you gut feeling David, we’ll be here with you and for you all the way!!

True beauty comes from within. David is amazing to me because of who he chooses to be. Yes he has the looks and the Voice, but at his core he knows he has great value and purpose that far exceeds what he may show the world. I would say that one of his greatest gift to all of us is not his voice but his example. He leads by example. It is so easy to say what the right thing is, it is another to actually follow it up with action. David leads by example showing us the importance of being true to yourself and never compromising yourself or your values. In a world where this seems to be forgotten or dismissed for the momentary thrill, David is a shining example of staying true to ones self no matter what. David is so much more then his music. I think he would like for us to see the same within ourselves.

Every word, every sentiment, all of it is beautifully said, you rock!!!! David is an “Artist” not a fly by the night, cash in quick, wannabe. My admiration and respect for this young man is set in stone, forever ♥

I so much appreciate everyone’s thoughtful and heartfelt comments that celebrate David, his voice, his genius, his character, his humility, his wisdom, his insight, his sensitivity, his graciousness, his good looks and physique, and yes his sensuality, I could go on and on. David by no means is perfect but he sure is a good starting point. We know everything is not always perfect and that we may sometimes worry about the different aspects of his career, we know, our heads are not stuck in the sand and we can discuss and debate at length but at some point you let go and enjoy, I for one am not into beating dead horses. With this interview and all David has given me is enough and it can be overwhelming at times. Right now Everybody Wants To Rule The World is daily must, his message is loud and clear, I can’t get through the song without shedding a tear.

I haven’t worried about him since. The best is yet to be.

#13 Tessielynn: "David is a shining example of staying true to ones self no matter what. David is so much more then his music. I think he would like for us to see the same within ourselves." Absolutely. We expect (while trying not to) certain things of him. He in turn gently expects (or invites us to expect of ourselves) certain things of us as well.

#16 Abrra: I likey, likey, likey your artistic sensibilities. You go girl!

#21 David tweets! “Just had a dangerously good meal at Loveless Cafe. Hanging with @Keith Thomas.”
I swear, he could totally get a job as a restaurant critic. Only, of course he would never be critical. His "stars" would stand for things like: 1. "Interesting" 2. "It's good to try new things" 3. "Had fun with friends eating at… " 4. I love to eat …. (Asian, Mexican, etc)… food, it's the best. And 5.? I think we just hit it with: "dangerously good meal".

DA? My suggestion is that you forget all about that Ear, Nose and Throat stuff. Go with the food. And while you are at it, kindly sing for your supper. ^_^

#24 "…this is from his wife Caroline “Thanks so much for sending the cover version of Everybody, it is really fantastic!"
These things just make me happy. It is like having that first shocking wave of unanticipated, bewildering and soul catching amazement relived time and again by others totally unknown to me. So we share a memory, a chord we never knew existed. Welcome to the party, Caroline. Come on in, the waters fine.

    My favorite thing ever. ♥

I knew when I first read the recent interview, that one of the writers here would create an insightful piece–Angelica, you truly caught the essence of what David shared. Thank you. I would love to quote a favorite line, but I would have to quote the whole thing! So many beautiful comments as well.

I also really liked David’s comments on the billboard.com interview regarding longevity: “It’s just being very real, being very true, not ever really giving in to something that’s not really in tune with what they’re about or who they are.” Like Tessielyn #13 said, “It is so easy to say what the right thing is, it is another to actually follow it up with action. David leads by example showing us the importance of being true to yourself and never compromising yourself or your values. In a world where this seems to be forgotten or dismissed for the momentary thrill, David is a shining example of staying true to ones self no matter what.

Betsy, Thanks for the link to that article. Love this and especially the part I very delicately drew attention to. 😆

Archuleta is on the road to discover his true sound, and to take his own direction unimpeded by anyone else dictating how he should sound like. Frankly, he’s come into his own, and maturing, Will he be writing his own songs for a future album?

“That’s what I’ve been doing actually. It’s hard for me to finish a song on my own, but I have a lot of ideas, and that’s what I’m really excited about.

Because it’s like ‘wow, this is coming from me?
    Photobucket

This is not from the pressure of anyone saying ‘we need to have this kind of music’ and ‘you have to sound this way’.”

I found this on Yahoo this morning. Exciting stuff considering he is making the rounds meeting a lot of movers and shakers in Nashville and loves it there.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Music City cleaned up at the Grammys. Its artists have topped the charts in multiple genres over the last few years. It’s increasingly the destination for A-list entertainers looking for a new home. And Rolling Stone recently named it 2011’s “best music scene.”

Sky 53, I felt the same way. It really had a bit of a mocking tone regarding thoughts so near and dear to David. I wish I could say that it probably wasn’t intentional…but when it comes to journalists and bloggers who write about David, I’ve become a bit jaded. The fact that she didn’t post a link to the interview, or give any additional info from it–so much of which is more newsworthy in the entertainment industry–was telling. Ironically, some of the quotes she did share were some of my favorites from the interview. No wonder David opens up more outside of the US.

Angelica, what a poignant, wonderfully written summary of David’s interview. “And that is how a real man does it”. So true. So happy his will is strong and his morals are well defined. When Paula said, “David, you’re destined for superstardom”, she might have meant his singing ability then. But his fans are becoming educated from David himself about what makes a superstar really. It is all the things Djafan listed in #19…. “his voice, his genius, his character, his humility, his wisdom, his insight, his sensitivity, his graciousness, his good looks and physique, and yes his sensuality, I could go on and on.”

I just wanted to add integrity to Djafan’s list.

Tessielynn defined David’s “superstar” in #13, too.

I love, love, love to read all your comments.

Abrra…..#60—-wow, David being the ambassador of songs of peace and joy in Vietnam. How true is that?!? Amazing if you really think about it. Thank you for pointing this out. I wonder how many Vietnam vets and surviviors have listened to David’s songs. Their children and grandchildren——the Beattles to David. How many will make the comparison?

I think David is the beginning of a whole new generation of music…….

Love the lead picture of David in this article! Isn’t he just the handsomest young man ever?

Just got some sad news yesterday that will be sending me to Utah for a funeral on Saturday. My friend’s mom, who was like a second mom to me when I was attending BYU, passed away. It’s really a blessing since she doesn’t have to suffer any more, but she will be missed so much. My friend lost her dad about 6 months ago too so that pain is still fresh.

I booked a flight and I’m headed to SLC to be there for my friend and her family. Decided to stay awhile and give her my support and also visit my sister in Sandy.

So, the exciting news is….I’m going to take my friend to see David at SOF!!!! I’ve always wanted her to go with me to one of his concerts but she has always had other things to do. I know she will love it and she will need a little distraction too. She thinks I’m a lost cause where David is concerned, but she is the one who went to ebay and got me a couple of pictures signed with his autograph when she heard I liked him so much.

Didn’t think I would be making this concert and was a bit sad about it, but now I’ll be there for all the excitement and did I read a tweet yesterday about Mark working on something for SOF? Woohoo 🙂

I can’t wait hear him live again. I don’t think I can make it to any of the fan get togethers, but hope I run into some of you who are going.

Okay, I’m off to work and will try to get some things done before I leave tomorrow.

Wishing you all a great day!

Mystery solved regarding why David was seen in Paramount. I think it was Paramount CA, not Paramount Studios. I guess after getting that cool haircut, he felt like visiting some cool ice. Nashville was too hot to handle 🙂

His Zamboni tour was a tip. I did some digging and came up with a family run Zamboni business in Paramount CA.

    From their story —

“..there were few rinks in Southern California, so in 1939 Frank, Lawrence, and a cousin built Iceland Skating Rink in Paramount. (The rink still operates today just blocks from the Zamboni factory. In fact, it’s not unusual to see Zamboni ice resurfacers driving down the neighborhood streets on their way to be tested at Iceland.)”

    Dear DA

Okay. Got it……………… Kind of. I want to hear about how many cookies I get. What kind they will be. How many chocolate chips are in each. How big they are. AND… will they be coming to a store near me soon.
    (*_*)

You want to talk about flour: the quality thereof. Why it is important to use only the best and how great ingredients support the baking and making of great cookies — in ways one might never suspect. (Even baking has its surprises, it would seem.) And how vital it is to the process to know lots of places where one can get great flour. You would even like to grind your own and make sure that you offer your best flour to others. *sigh* Okay. +_+ I am thinking hard about flour. (But somehow it does not satisfy my understandable need for cookies. Just sayin’)

And also, apparently, it is important to have random, interesting things to think about while one is baking. Like the neighbors and their factory. (Cause, lets be real here…. anyone with interesting neighbors is bound to make interesting cookies. No?)

DA… I am glad (really and honestly and truly and s.i.n.c.e.r.l.y glad) that you are excited about baking. All I ask for is a whiff, a sort of snort of, a small smidgen of smells-deliscious-ness, some random wafting of smoky, steamy, effervescent…………………..cookie. *sigh*

At this point I feel a strong affinity for four other very hungry “friends”. As you go out into the fray DA, remember: some of us are perching on increasing brittle branches. And as they so innocently mention: we need a tenor. *wave*

Actually, I feel pretty secure on my branch. At the same time…. honestly!!

DA, would you please rate your vlogs before you send them: 0—10 for how much information they actually hold. That way I will not come to the table with fork and spoon and napkin tucked under my chin unnecessarily. Instead, I will just bring popcorn and apples and a big, heartfelt sigh of gladness for your presence in the world.

Speaking of friends, David’s buddy Brooke White is performing in Utah tonight and there is a blurb about it in one of the local newspapers. Our guy is mentioned and it sounds like he is being a good friend.

The 28-year-old Mormon Californian is still remembered fondly by “American Idol” fans as a Carly Simon-inspired singer who finished fifth during the same season when Utahn David Archuleta finished second. She told The Tribune she still has never seen an R-rated film, but earlier this year she starred in “Change of Plans,” a family-friendly movie that fell into her lap in part because “Idol” judge and mentor Randy Jackson was helping her work on songs for the film’s soundtrack. The singer is working on solo material while prepping the follow-up to her debut album. In addition, she has been working in a duo called “Jack and White,” and plans on debuting material from the collaboration during her Provo concert. She says she keeps in touch with Archuleta, one of her best friends from the show, who is even helping her move from her Van Nuys digs to a new home in Ventura County. Also on the bill: Ryan Innes and Truman.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Utah family revealed

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – ABC’s popular reality show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition announced on Thursday that they will build a new home for the family of Jonah Gomez.

Gomez suffers from two rare blood disorders and lives with his family in Taylorsville, where hosts of the show surprised them with the news on Thursday morning.

The family’s new home will be built in the Daybreak community, on land donated by Rio Tinto.

Gomez first gained local attention when he charmed the fans at a Real Salt Lake game last April.

As part of his Make-A-Wish foundation request, Jonah was able to stand in the stadium and meet the team’s players as well as sing alongside American Idol icon, David Archuleta.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

While many Extreme Makeover: Home Edition projects demolish an existing home, the Gomez home will be built from the ground up, starting on Thursday.

Jonah and his family were taken to the site on Thursday afternoon, and will go on week-long vacation as EMHE crews and volunteers build their near home near Oquirrh Lake.

Rio Tinto’s Kennecott Utah Copper has donated an empty lot at the corner of Daybreak’s Oquirrh Lake Road and Talquin Lane in South Jordan, and is coordinating the planning, donation and volunteer efforts. Holmes Homes and its team of builders, sponsors and volunteers who are donating their time and much of the materials will build the home in less The family will also receive an even greater surprise during the week. For years Jonah has needed a bone marrow transplant and has had difficulty finding a match because he’s of Latin descent—statistically, fewer minorities join the National Marrow Donor Program. After learning of his plight, MLS soccer stadiums around the country in Pasadena, Washington D.C., San Jose, Philadelphia, Dallas and Kansas City will be holding concurrent bone marrow drives on Saturday, June 25th during their games in Jonah’s honor — registering thousands of people to be tested in one day.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designers Michael Moloney and Paige Hemmis will kick off the campaign at Rio Tinto stadium, filming fans being registered for testing and showing support for Jonah during the halftime show for Real Salt Lake’s game against the Toronto FC. Zions Bank will also have booths at the stadium for fans to make cash donations towards completion of the home, the family’s medical expenses and home maintenance. To buy tickets, visit realsaltlake.com/tickets.

Those not attending the game that would like to register for the National Marrow Donor Program are encouraged to visit the website GetSwabbed.org for more information.

The Daybreak Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project is still in need of volunteers and donations to be able to complete the Gomez home. The project team will be holding a benefit concert with David Osmond, Alex Boyé, Thurl Bailey and comedian Jason Hewlett Tuesday, June 28 at Herriman High School at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $20 at the door.

All your comments on David’s vlog have me scratching my head and giggling at the same time. What the random!!

I’ve had to watch it at least four times now to catch a lot of what he is saying. I don’t do mumble well.

He looks tired and in need of some of his alone time or sleep–body says “HEY! I feel like its two hours later than what the clock says. The way he looks off to the side when he says he is going to rehearse with the band today, makes me wonder if he’s there already and off in a closet or a cave(lighting), but I think I see THE PICTURE in the background.

I can’t figure out if the computer screen is lighting his face or if the glow that emanates from his face is the lighting.

We really have only seen him when on American Idol or being under the control of Jive.

I think Myrtle Beach was just a tease.

I can communicate through song – his own words.

On the American Idol Tour -” You know I like to sing songs that have a message in them” and then he sang – “When You Say You Love Me”.

    Lately he has sung:

The Best is Yet to Come!

    I Gotta Get Through This!

    Sending Out an SOS

Everyone Wants To Rule The World – and said “So I kinda take this song to my own personal meaning”

When you hang around Twitter like I do, (Angelica accused me of being on Twitter 24/7. That is so not true! It’s more like 23/7! Let’s get that straight! LOL), it’s evident that there’s a much larger fanbase out there than I thought. Tweets to David come

One more thing, According to this article in USA Today, David is supposed to make an appearance at the Special Olympics Festivities in Greece.

Maria Shriver touches down in Greece

“Maria Shriver, who was snapped as she ran errands in Beverly Hills earlier this week, has touched down in Athens.

Shriver will be spending the next several days in Greece, where the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games kick off today.

Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, is leading a presidential delegation to the games, joining 7,000 athletes from more than 170 countries, their families, as well as thousands of coaches, family members, volunteers and spectators.

We can tell you that Shriver is in Greece with her children. She won’t be speaking at the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, but she is scheduled to walk out during the Parade of Athletes with Team Afghanistan.

On Sunday, she will speak at a ceremony that will be dedicating a statue and square in honor of Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Maroussi (next to Olympic Stadium). This is the first Special Olympics to take place since Shriver, who founded the games, died in 2009.

Among the celebs expected at the festivities: David Archuletta, Nadia Comanici, Brooklyn Decker, Michelle Kwan and Vanessa Williams.”

Happy Friday to all! I’ve been enjoying all the wonderful comments and dialogue, so I hesitated about posting but then it’s just too irresistable when it comes to gushing about David that I’ll apologize in advance for repeating what has been said so much better.

Angelica; You have beautifully posted what we all feel … just so proud of David! The pressures he faced must have been with tremendous stress and yet, he never compromised his character, never complaining, never blaming, never showing any disgruntlement or disrespect. Instead he shared his feelings through his music. How admirable is his level of maturity, professionalism, and insightfulness. Such an amazing role model! It’s my hope that my kids will appreciate and learn from David that having values, faith, conviction to do good, and not giving in to wordly pressures is so much more important and rewarding than the temporary thrill of materialistic success. It’s sad that what seems to be newsworthy are the mindless and crazy antics of society when there are many more meaningful portraits of inspiring people who are trying to make a positive difference in this world.

David’s vblog shows alot is happening for him that I wanted to send him a prayer for his good health, safety, and ongoing blessings … to preserve his peace, joy and happiness during this not-so-quiet time.

How fierce the Asian fans are … just love all the unabashed display of love, devotion and support for David!

I’ve missed so much! Thanks to everyone for the vlog, vids and tweets, and of course the gorgeous pics. 🙂

I’m late posting about the vlog, but it’s so very David, he’s such a sweetheart and there’s so much he wants to tell us but he can’t yet. And it’s so good to see him so excited about his trip to Asia.

Betsy, 125 Just beautiful. Wow! Such a heartfelt tribute and welcome video from the fans in Vietnam. I really hope David gets to see it.

Dak, 140. The vid of Jonah and David is so precious. Once I started watching it, I couldn’t stop. That vid, on repeat, is a never-ending smile. Love that they are doing such a wonderful thing for little Jonah and his family. ♥

Abrra, that pic in 127, I don’t even know where to begin. ♪♫ Something ‘bout that beautiful faaaaaace ♪♫

Sky, I hear what you’re saying about reporters who don’t check their facts before writing articles. In one current article, David was still 19 and in another he was already 21. Invariably, they spell his last name with two t’s. Once in a while, they list him as the winner of Season 7. At least they got that right. 😉

Poof, “I would attribute this behavior to hormones,,, but I don’t think I have any anymore. Guess it is something else.”

It’s something ’bout love, Poof! LOL I have a feeling that David is used to fans being at a loss for words when they meet him. The first time I met him I got one of his classic ‘Huh???s’ in reply to what I said. I can’t remember what I said to him. The second time was at a book signing. I was a little more coherent if not robotic. One day I just might get it right! 😉

Angelica, Well, I told you I would! Bahaha!! …. First of all I love your blog as usual. (BUTT not quite as much as the one before this that CRACKED me up …sorry I am a little BEHIND here) David is certainly the Portrait of a true man!! Staying true to himself. He amazes me with his maturity and priorities!! ..yep, you got it right girl!

Now, the sweet Jonah! Oh my, how my 10 year old son was just sitting here peering over my shoulder watching the video with me …all amazed how this sweet little kid got to sing with David AND meet the soccer players (he is quite a soccer fan as well as a David Archuleta fan). Then I explained to him the how and why. What a teachable moment…..to never take health for granted and always hang on to your dreams. Yeh for Jonah and YEH for David as well as Real soccer for showing this kid a good time he will ever forget!

And the Vietnam video….Yep you were right Angelica! David needs to see this one!! How exciting to have an answered prayer for Vietnam fans!!

    Last of all….the pic in # 127….speechless!

and the MOTAB CD/DVD is coming out on Sept 6th! Of ALL Days my hubbys birthday……(I think I better apologize now in advance cause he aint gonna be happy when I sing O Come All Ye Faithful instead of Happy Birthday this year…….YIKES! )

    😉
