Our inveterate field reporter for the west coast and all things LA, scored last minute tix to the Kiisfm Idol Viewing Partaaay last night!!!!! The following are some communications relayed from the scene along with some totally unnecessary and senseless commentary by me.
For clarity, as far as that is possible, Djafan’s words are in red, my .02 cents are in blue.

Good Morning everyone!
Just talked with Djafan on the phone! She lost internet at home till later today and is uploading at work. She says he was absolutely amazing and beautiful and masculine off the charts! Sang the best “Crush” ever, “Crazy” and “I’ll Be.” Have not seen any videos myself as have been super busy at work this morning. She met Sunny Hilden who was super nice. (I never said she wasn’t lovely and nice, just objected to the OTT tweets but it seems she is afflicted with the same disorder we all have. 😉 ) So I woke up today and “sparkled” with anticipation for vids from last night and then this weekend, Mrytle Beach!!!! We just want more and more and more from him, don’t we? 😆

He just leaves me almost speechless. How can so much awesomeness be in one human being? I’m trying not to go overboard here, but there is no denying that David is one of the most amazing vocalists on the planet today. There are several songs David sings which leave me breathless and Crazy is just one. Sublime & emotionally crazy vocals!
And of course he looks fantastic & that’s all I’ve got to say about that. 😉

I am beyond thrilled that you got to attend last night;s event! You’re so right; David’s voice sounded OUT OF THIS WORLD! I am doubtful the acoustics were the only reason for his beautiful sound. He has so much control over his voice he can make it do almost anything!
It’s never a problem to hear his songs repeatedly because no matter what he chooses to sing, the sound of his voice is heavenly. Heavenly doesn’t even do it justice. It just makes you feel sooo good that you never want the songs to end!

David just continues to amaze!! His voice, as he matures, just gets better and better. ♥♥♥ And “Crazy” … was just CRAZY good. Even “Crush” made me sit up and take notice. Cuz it’s not the song, it’s the voice. ♥

I took Djafan’s video and flipped it upright. She will have to upload that fixed video to her account.
I also took the great audio she had and made a single file mp3 of the full performance.I did some editing to the ends to eliminate some ear shattering screaming. 🙂 (My head is ringing from the editing) Haha!

Djafan, thanks for the video–and the recap. I’m so glad that you were able to be there ‘for us’. Even with allergies bothering him, David was outstanding!! 🙂 He has become so different–in a very good way–since freeing himself of contracts and management. You can feel it when he talks and sings. It’s like he doesn’t have to weigh every word he says for fear of ‘breach of contract’ kind of stuff. I’m so lovin’ it!
Oh yes!! He looked SOOOOO good! I loved his banter about age–he cracks me up when he realizes that he’s 20 but doesn’t look it.
Angelica!! That top picture!!! My gosh, girlfriend, that’s enough to stop your heart when you scroll down and there it is!! I whip lashed my head right into the back of my chair when it came into view. We definitely needed a warning to proceed with caution on that one! 😛

Could not wait to get home and see the vids again. Absolutely could not get my mind off them all day. He was insanely good! Could hardly talk, but sang like a god. That “bless your soul”…oh my. And the ending, I am at a loss.
JR said it perfectly in the last thread, “He has transcended the perfectly technical aspect of his singing. In its place, he risked sounding more vulnerable… more raw… And the result is that he came as more real. Sublime pathos.”

“Crazy”…it is breath taking. Really, it took my breath away. Nearly every word had its own facial expression and emotion. I couldn’t stop watching it. He has studied, practiced and directed his artistry to another place and what a fabulous gift for us.
I am nearly ready to go and that is just in ‘8’ short hours! Oh my, have Abrra ask me questions by email if you want to know something because I think that seeing him perform with his band will silence me again but I will check in with Abrra and the site from my Iphone tomorrow on.
We called the hotel and it is blazing hot there and bumper to bumper traffic, oh my! It is supposed to be good weather for the concert they said!

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve been stuck in a vortex, but this performance of Crazy just won’t turn loose of me. Especially the one Djafan posted in #19–WOW! I don’t know if this new dimension in his performance comes from dumping Jive, or resting up for a few months, or if he is just flat out channeling some soul singer, but I like it!

I am so jealous of everyone going to Myrtle Beach, but I hope you all have a safe trip. I know it’s going to be an unforgettable weekend. Eat your Wheaties on Saturday; I think you’re going to need a lot of stamina to make it through this concert-heh!

I am beyond happy for this weekend. Sandybeaches!!! Whooo! So glad you can go!! I feel fulfilled, satisfied, satiated, blessed and full of bliss. And… he hasn’t even begun his concert yet!
I guess it just seems so worth waiting for that I somehow have not experienced a lack. But maybe it is also kinda like a three year old at Christmastime: they really have no idea of the wonder in store for them. Maybe it will be a whole new world. I’m okay with that.
