Trust the Archulator

Posted by djafan on Saturday, February 19, 2011

Does this look like the face of a man who is unsure of who he is and where he wants to go?

“There are three constants in life… change, choice and principles.”

“If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.”

Stephen Covey ~  7 Habits of Highly Effective People

David Archuleta is going to be just fine.  He is one of the most highly effective persons I’ve encountered and no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.*

Be still your souls.  We all knew this road would not be endlessly smooth with no rocks or thorns.  We all know or should know by now that he is a renegade who will not allow himself to be molded into a product that is sure to sell at the expense of who he is.  In March of 2009, in an article titled “A Growing Force,” I wrote:

“For the true artist, the journey is never easy.  It is as complicated as the one who travels it.  He must labor for years perfecting his craft, which to his own impossible standards, is never fully realized.  The execution of his art is always outdistanced by his vision.  This paradox causes any artist worthy of the name to be plagued at times with self doubt and angst.  He must, moreover engage in constant battle with forces who would diminish his art, and so diminish him.  He must find the courage to be supremely indifferent to the opinions of others.  If the existing state of affairs in his chosen field is anathema to who he is as a person, he must reject it and risk being considered uncool.  Rather than conform to the status quo, he must, like David Archuleta, be a renegade.”

There is no easy path to greatness and there is no one who has ever achieved it without suffering setbacks and heartache along the way.  These are things that must be.  What has occurred with the changes in his management and label are things that are necessary steps along that path.  This is not a detour, but the same road he started on long ago.   His steps have not deviated from the course he set for himself.  His goal is to be taken seriously as an artist and to create a body of work that has depth and meaning.  He knows where he is going and how to adjust his course to get there.  He is gaining a reputation as someone who will not compromise his principles or his artistic freedom.  Now he has that.  Now he can see clearly the path that lies before him.

He knows a good thing when he sees one.

Thank you Angelica, our thoughts and concerns have been all over the place and it was time to make good sense of it all.

As ever, we are very proud of David and the choices he makes.

When I saw the beautiful picture of the path in the woods, I immediately realized that at this very moment in time, David is on the road less traveled and one that will make the most amazing differences. Thank you to Robert Frost for that concept.

I just went on a round trip this morning starting here with Angelica’s article, then I went on over to ‘Soul David’ that led me to ‘The David Chronicles’ and once again I read Richard’s letter on ‘Fans Of David’. I highly recommend visiting all of the sites each with interesting and impressive writings.

David’s career is similar to archery. He has prepared himself to hit that target. He has built up the strength to pull that bow string back. He has a straight arrow that he has been given and has taken care of. He keeps his eye on the target and someday, he will hit the bullseye.

Angelica, beautiful post. I love the ladder quote, so appropriate.

And “renegade,” I like that word. It sounds kind of funny to call David, who seems so meek, a renegade. But a renegade he is. His quiet strength is deceptive.

It takes a great deal of courage to forge your own path rather than follow the established road. Kudos to David for standing his ground and holding out for what he needed to do at this time in his life.

From the first moment I watched David perform through all the experiences I’ve witnessed, there has never been a shred of doubt in my mind that David possessed a will of steel, a moral fiber second to none and a clear vision of who he is and how he wants things to go. He did struggle with that aspect of his personality that hopes to please everyone, but he has it in hand and HE will make the decisions, no one else, that will shape his career and his life. I have just as much confidence in him now as I did day one.

I was so willing to give David all the time he needed to communicate with us..but I have to admit, it sure feels good to get that tweet from him! “Things are going where I feel they should.” That’s all I needed to hear.

“A bend in the road is not the end of the road.”

Silverfox, yes, perfect choice. And Angelica, beautiful and timely post. I have been so touched to read all the beautiful posts here and on many of the other sites. I have found such peace in them and hope David is able to see even a few of them. It has reminded me a bit of the beloved Christmas movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life” where George Bailey is given the opportunity to see all the people’s lives he has touched.

Thanks to SB’s suggestion, I checked out Soul David this morning and had to share one quote that really got me(I hope Hellogorgeous doesn’t mind)

“I did something very “David like”: I prayed on it. I said, “Lord, you brought this amazing person into my life and allowed me to hear him at a moment in my life when I needed hope in this world. Please let the Voice be heard and don’t let it get silenced.”

So much of David’s strength, humility and spirit has come from obstacles he has overcome in the past…I’m just marveling at what awaits us in the future.

The top picture is a frameshot from a video of mine. What you might not know is that shot is just as he was getting ready to perform Angels in Pittsburgh in October, one of the most powerful performances I have ever seen. He made the comment before singing, which he often does lately, that Angels is a song that gets him back on track, reminds him that there is always someone there watching over and caring. I think that song always carries him through. Pretty dang strong person.

I always loved your “A Growing Force”. I thought it closely described what David’s journey would be as he continued on the path he was destined to take as an artist and it turned out to be pretty much predictive.

“Now he can see clearly the path that lies before him”. Words so true! What “path” David, The Voice, chooses to follow is the question now.

Per David’s tweets, he seems happy & at peace with his decisions so far. I must be honest, though & admit I will breathe easier as long as David is in LA as there is “where the action is”. 😉

David has gotten so much publicity in the last few days. Talk about a blessing in disguise! It will probably be good in the long run; it’s keeping his name out there.

Your last comment reminded me of this video Josie posted on FOD yesterday. It gives you an insite about how he had to fit for his rights as an Artist with Jive. I for one am very proud of him for taking a stand against Jive. He stayed true to himself and didn’t allow Jive to mold his career into something he didn’t feel comfortable doing.

I don’t believe that he will ever know what a strong fan base he has and just how many of his fans feel the same way when he appears to be MIA. The tweeting and texting and emailing with updates would probably make him laugh.

During these days I fall back to the memory of when David was touring with McFly and he went running (I believe it was in Scotland) without his cell phone and he became very cold and had to stop for assistance to return to the hotel. Well that was the start of it and yes the worries have grown in magnitude since then, but that is how it is.

Angelica, awesome and inspiring article. It’s so exciting to know how many folks world wide are supporting David. I very rarely make myself seen or heard, but I support him wholeheartedly every day—I wonder how many of us are truly “Somebodies Out There” for David!

I personally feel with my gut this had to happen for him. Nothing was happening with his label, or with his management. He knew that. If he wants to continue to do what he knows he does best and loves to do, he had to do some movin’ and shaken’—-and I for one am always willing to wait and see what that movin’ and shakin’ will lead to. (Actually, wouldn’t mind watching the movin’ and shakin’ either) 🙂 Anyway, GO DAVID!! As long as I live, I will be praying for you and hip-hip-hooraying for you. Thank you Angelica, for your calming words. Although I have relaxed and been able to think more positively over the last couple of days about this whole thing, I really do appreciate what you have written. I have no doubt in my heart and head that David is not only a renegade, but he is the law. He will not follow the laws of the industry if they get in the way of the ones that he has set. He has a standard that he follows, and he has set his mind to following that. Nothing is going to change his course. I love him for that (among a million other reasons).

SB #38 – I recall that incident – believe it was in Newcastle-on-Tyne, the first stop in England after the Scotland shows. He sought shelter at a social club I believe it was and the manager there spent some time chatting with him and provided him with hot drinks – also said that David was a fine and gentle young man and had him sign the guest book. That night was the first time David performed Angels in the U.K., and many fans had been concerned that the audiences would not appreciate him singing a song that was considered almost untouchable having been performed by Robbie Williams. Of course, David did sing Angels, the audience sang along waving their arms and glow-sticks, and gave him tons of applause – another example of David’s courage in following his heart.

So why was I so worried about the events of last Thursday? I went to bed early as I just couldn’t watch the drama on the Net anymore (maybe I thought I would wake and it would all be a dream) and so I missed The Voiced Unplugged – just when I needed a support group!

Of course you can borrow it any time you would like! Many, many times I have wished I could express myself like the writers here can—it’s one of the reasons I shy away from posting much. Like David says in “Good Place”: “I don’t wanna mess it up or say too much…..” So, it’s an honor to have someone ask if they can borrow something I’ve written!

If you have an idea of something you want express, take some time and write it down. Then go back to it the next day, add to it or change some words around. That’s about all it takes. Desire to express your thoughts and pounding out the best way to present it.

Give it a try ? 🙂 Some of the best articles come from the fans.

Boy if that isn’t the truth!

Angelica, As always your insightful words are like a soothing balm to any wounded soul, an antidote for any ailing David fan; thank you for ministering to our needs and for your uplifting words of wisdom; I really needed to hear them today.

And to all the Voicelets, what beautiful music is created when all join in to support David!

David’s latest tweets has put a smile back on my face, although admittedly I still worry about him like he’s one of my own. I know that he will be okay but that doesn’t mean that it will be easy or that he isn’t feeling the pressures of making life changing decisions or having the gamut of emotions to struggle with. I hope that he knows how special he is and that he is very much loved and appreciated. Despite the negativity by the media and the harsh criticisms that has been directed at him, David has handled himself with such class and maturity.

Even though that scary feeling of uncertainty looms, the fact that David is “excited for what the future holds” bolsters my optimism for what lies ahead. I have no doubt that David will rise above this temporary roadblock. He has the whole world ahead of him, a blank score waiting for him to create many beautiful musical compositions. So David, continue on with your life, putting “one foot in front of the other” because you have our undying support and a community of dedicated followers who believe in your dreams. We don’t know if his future will still include us fans but I intend on being there all the way, ready to cheer him on for whatever decisions he has already made and for those still yet to come.

Well, in my opinion I like David’s style and special that way of singing he has. I’d like to see next more songs like TOSOD, that’s my favorite one. I love when he sings in spanish. I don’t know yet if he has realized he has a lot of fans from Latinamerica but he really is amired by latins. So, I’m sure there are other like me who would like David to record an album in spanish. Maybe some hits he had in english such as “CRUSH”, “ZERO GRAVITY”, “A LITTLE TOO NOT OVER YOU” and at present “THE OTHER SIDE OF DOWN” but now in spanish, that would be great. David’s decision was okay with me, you don’t know why things happens, I’m sure better things will come for him and his carrer. So in my humild opinion I’d like to listen to a David’s album completely in spanish. David has become one of the best young performers and he’ll do the better for saving and continue his career as singer for sure!

I’m glad for this but irritated nonetheless. I gifted CDs to several people who like David, and every last one said they did not know he had new music out. Even the teenagers at school did not know. Jive obviously had no intention of promoting this CD.

On the bright side, in the past week two people to whom I gave TOSOD (one adult and one teen) mentioned to me how much they enjoyed it and played it when they were having bad days. I hope David realizes how his music does affect people.

I am quoting a few descriptive words about David and his voice from an article that I wrote just awhile ago. It is in the description that we can see the excellence of David as a singer and the degree of musicality that he has presented to us these last few years. All of this talent that he portrays leads him in the direction his singing career needs to go. His career in music is built around the high calibre of his singing voice and the nature of his personality. I used words to describe David such as profoundly engaging, captivating and inspirational. His voice is sensitve yet powerful and soaring. It is because of the high calibre of his singing that changes were inevitable and a new path is now in the offing.

We haven’t heard the last from David Archuleta
Posted by Mark Franklin on Feb 21, 2011 in David Archuleta | 5 comments

Fans have been tweeting David Archuleta words of encouragement this evening at a dizzying pace.

So I guess it’s true. The guy who was the runner-up in season seven of Idol, who appeared to be the judges’ favorite throughout that season, is no longer a member of the Jive record label, having been released or dropped.

I figured that if I waited until this evening to address the issue in a blog, one of David’s hometown papers in the Salt Lake area would surely have gotten to the bottom of the matter.

They haven’t. So we’re left to draw deductions from a couple of tweets from his former management team and the unnamed source who told Hollywood Reporter on Friday that “David was released from our roster.”

It caps a strange couple of months for the former Idol finalist, who has one of the most devoted fan bases you’ll ever find.

On one hand, David’s been featured at a number of high-profile events, appearing on NBC’s Skate for Heart in mid-January, starring on FOX’s New Years Eve Live, and performing in front of thousands at the Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade in Dallas in early December.

And when Billboard asked folks to vote for their favorite album of 2010, those loyal David Archie fans made his “The Other Side of Down” number one. That’s right, number one. In front of Eminem’s “Recovery,” Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” and all the rest.

Ah, but online votes are not CD sales, and if the numbers I’m reading everywhere are correct, “The Other Side” has sold a paltry 63,000 copies. And I kept checking David’s website for news of a tour to support the album. It never materialized.

In contrast, his debut album was certified gold in a matter of months; and the Christmas album David released in the fall of 2009 was well received, selling nearly 250,000 copies according to one source I saw.

To my ears, “The Other Side of Down” is David’s best album yet. But it was also released to a fickle public enraptured by new pop sensations like Justin Bieber and Kei$ha. And it was released in the highly competitive period right before the holiday shopping season, when lots of artists are rushing new music to fans.

True to form, David seems to be taking the latest development in stride. And remaining upbeat.

I’ve interviewed the guy twice about upcoming concerts in this area. He always comes across as humble and gracious.

David Archuleta, performing in a holiday parade in Dallas in early December. (AP Photo)And he might not have a record contract with Jive, but he still has that voice. More than one of this year’s Idol contestants cited his performance of “Imagine” as their favorite Idol moment ever.

Since Friday, David has sent out tweets thanking fans for their support, to let them know that “I am excited for the opportunities ahead” and that “things are going where I feel they should.”

I’m sure we’ll find out where that is in a matter of time. Give that voice, I have no doubt we’ll be hearing more from David.

I thoroughly trust David in choosing the best path for him to take in the days to come…and yet, in my heart, I have had a hard time silencing my worries. I marvel at all the pressure this amazing young man is under–being pulled in so many different directions, dealing with the expectations of others, being there for his family, keeping priorities and perspectives straight, trying to stay true to himself in a world where he is constantly told that he will only succeed if he changes…doing all this while fans and non-fans watch and wait, knowing that whatever he decides, there are those that will be disappointed, those who will think he is naive, and those who will think he doesn’t know what he is doing.

And yet, as I checked in here tonight, and clicked on the above video, I knew everything was going to be all right. He is not alone in this…and he knows it.

I have a son David’s age, serving a mission in Central America. An amazing young man with a kind heart and a good soul, so dear to me that when he left I thought I would die. But, that same knowledge I had that he was not alone, that he was in God’s hands has given me such peace.

Well, I did not die either. And my son is (like yours) one of the best things to ever happen to this ol’ world. And you will never guess his name. ^_^ But it is why I always call DA, DA. I told my son that there is only ONE David in my life. I want him to know (and all my kids) that he (every one of them) always comes first.

I am kinda fierce about that.

But I am also fierce about: ain’t nobody in charge of DA but DA. And I know I will hear a lot more music from this blessed angel. I feel incredibly honored to just be hanging around the world at this time. Sharing some space with some of the best there are or ever will be.

Oh my heck, Skydancer–I think you may have just found our fan theme song!! It’s been kind of a lot of years since this was one of my favs, but you just restored that like.

I heard my radio station here in Utah talking about David being ‘dropped’ by his label, and it ruffled my feathers, so I emailed the DJ’s…..

Okay, so I have just one question–if record sales are required to keep a record label happy, and radio play is vital to a song being recognized, thus creating sales, why doesn’t B98.7 play the singles released from ‘The Other Side Of Down’ by David Archuleta? His fan base can only create a certain amount of album sales. Most of us have purchased multiple copies and gifted them to other people, but that can only go so far. Radio play is vital for creating new fans and record sales.
The Jive label has not said they ‘dropped’ him. He was released from their roster. He created the 3 albums for his contract. They did nothing to promote his sales. He does not fit into ‘the mold’ of today’s rude, crudely sexy (although his fans find him sexy in a pleasant way), and otherwise obnoxious, and can’t sing a real note without auto-tune, performers that are played over and over. Thank goodness he has values and hasn’t turned into a Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber mess (the day I hear JB on B98.7 is the last day I listen to the station-he is just wrong).
Why he hasn’t been supported by the radio stations in this state is beyond my comprehension. David is in charge of his future, and his comments since last Thursday have been very positive and uplifting to his fans. His talent far surpasses what Jive and Wright Entertainment Group can do for him. Keep your eye on David Archuleta.
It’s not too late to start showing some support and playing something besides a 2-year old ‘Crush’. I would welcome any feedback you have to offer as far as why we haven’t heard his songs played. It’s really been confusing to me, as well as hundreds of thousands of other fans.
Thanks for being an otherwise really great station.
    Tawna Witney”

    I got in response…
I appreciate your obvious passionate support for David–we too are huge fans after meeting him and spending time together. We actually have five of David’s songs in rotation right now, including “Something ‘Bout Love” and the unplugged versions of “A Thousand Miles”. The one I DO NOT get is Keisha–she’s a nasty human being, sings horribly and every song is about getting wasted and having unprotected sex. I’m with you–the good guys don’t always get the breaks.
    Erin”

I responded back that I don’t listen 24/7 so I’m glad to know that they are playing the songs and I will check the playlists. This is the station that had him there for a promo and Todd & Erin were so good with David. Several Utah Voice fans were there.

An email such as your’s should be sent to any radio station that insists on making snarky comments about David being “dropped from Jive”. The “dropped from Jive” part is getting old because the reality is that David fulfilled his 3-cd contract with Jive and they simply parted ways. The media loves to put a negative spin on anything. I noticed that David Burger updated his article from “David A was Dropped…” to “David A Was Released from Jive”.

But Jive was only a pit stop for David, a place that gave him his first break after American Idol. He fulfilled his contract and accomplished way more than most at the young age of 20.

I posted a comment similar to this at Soul David in response to some the other commenters & the reasons David has most likely not made a statement about Jive or what may be happening right now…and why I selfishly don’t want David to take a leave…

The “announcement” of David’s release from Jive WAS premature. David is still listed on their roster of artists. Melinda knew full well what she was doing when she let the proverbial cat out of the bag in a very unprofessional manner. However, neither Jive or David have officially announced the release, except for a short confirmation by a Jive “spokesperson” who also should not have said anything, IMO. The legalities of terminating binding contracts even if they have expired, are not a simple thing and both parties must have legal representation. Remember there’s the ownership issue of David’s songs, released & unreleased. There’s current & future sales and royalties from the albums David did while contracted with Jive, which will not suddenly cease because of the split and so much more I’m sure needs to be settled. It may take until the end of the month. It’s imperative that David takes with him what is rightfully his free & clear. Some artists who break with their labels just leave it all for their lawyers & mgrs to deal with the legal issues but David does not have a mgr & hopefully he has a good lawyer who is taking care of his interests and has advised him to be present for any & all meetings until the release is finalized. Knowing what I know about the complexities of terminating contracts, this is why I think David has not made a direct comment about Jive. He simply can’t yet. I’m sure he will as soon as all the issues are resolved which is the mature & responsible way to make such an announcement.

    ******************
As far as David taking a break, I don’t agree he should, now or ever. I may be selfish, but we need him. I need him. I can remember my life before David and it was a dark, unhappy, living one day at a time kind of place. Pretending all was fine. Smiling, but screaming inside. Wondering if this was going to be the rest of my life. I don’t want to go back there, not for any length of time. I just can’t imagine my life without David in it. If the day comes when David decides to take his leave from us, that will be the day when beautiful music will cease to be. I said I would follow him forever, unconditionally. That will never change. I was just voicing my feelings about the possibility of the unthinkable. 😦

David did a vlog before he went to India and that was the first time that I saw a bit of sadness in David so perhaps something was already going on in his world of music. He talked about India towards the end of the vlog and said that he was going away for a bit to India and he would talk more about it when he got back. This is when David adopted the expression “away for a bit”, or “going to LA for a bit” and so on. We talk to our very large labrador retrievers as if they understand everything and we know that one of them does. When we are going away for a few hours or someone is leaving on a trip,(someone like me going to SLC or NY or..or..) then I have a conversation with them that I am going away for “just a bit”. There is definate uncertainity to the time line in that expression but it does tell them words that they have become familiar with that someone is going away but returning. So Mr. David Archuleta, please return in a bit!!

Abrra tells me sometimes to brighten up but that hardly ever works and with something about David, well maybe never. My name is SandyBeaches and I am not doing well with this and I really don’t know why. But, I do know that I am not alone. Music is a universal language and I happen to like this particular musician and his language. You see, I live with music as part of my everyday life whether I am listening to it or it is in my mind. Except for the other night at The Voice Unplugged, I am not turning David’s music on at all just once in awhile and perhaps it is because it reminds me just too much that any new songs just might not happen or he might not be around when I listen to the ones already there.

I was involved with music all of my life, but it was not until I heard David sing that it became my life changing experience.

Thanks so much for posting that explanation. There’s been a lot of worry over the fact that there’s been no statement from either Jive or David. After reading your comment, it makes much more sense to me now.

I am one who doesn’t believe for a moment that David’s leaving the music scene. He doesn’t strike me as the type to turn tail and run following a setback, if this even is one for him. I’m in Camp David-Knew-It-Was-Coming. I think he’s been making plans for a while now.

I think it will take a little longer than we had hoped before we see David singing live again, but I don’t think it will be an extended period. David comes alive on stage. I don’t think he could live without it for too long, or at least he wouldn’t want to. I think he’ll be back as soon as he gets all his ducks in a row.

I know what you’ve all written was maybe a little hard to do when everyone is trying to look at the bright side. But the heartfelt honesty in the words you’ve written do not go unnoticed.

I’ve written about the tears, I’ve cried daily while trying to hide it from my family because I don’t want to explain what I’m feeling. I understand the talk of it’s all going to be ok, this is all a good thing, better things are to come, I get all this and I believe it in my heart, but I am human and I’m allowing myself to feel what I feel. Yes I will support him if he were to decide all those things that are being said that don’t involve music but I won’t be ok.

I hate that he has to go throw any of this because of the incompetence of others and their lack of vision for a true artist and out of this world human being. The lack of professionalism by melinda I hope doesn’t go unnoticed, it was a low blow imo.

And because I don’t know what to do with this negative energy towards those that speak so harshly of David, the kindest soul, I leave comments everywhere I can to state the facts. It probably doesn’t make a difference but it gives me feel like I’m doing for David until we here from David.

Sometimes we just need to let it out, vent and know that it’s ok to do so and what a better place than here, where you know you’ll be understood. It’s cathartic.

He tried out for American Idol because he wanted to sing.Put his education on hold because he wanted to sing.
This is what David has wanted to do his whole life and he is doing it.And the past 3 years have opened up his world in so many wonderful ways than he dared to even dream, and shown him that his beautiful voice and talents are meaningful to people, and that he can make the difference in this world for people with his GIFT. He is living out his dream, and that dream will continue… Jive, is just a four letter word.

Skydancer, loved your words…you need to be David’s head cheerleader! What a great pep talk! (Haha!…”Jive is just a four letter word!”)

I am with you all…what a roller coaster of emotions! It’s so nice to read all the comments as we try to process our feelings and wait for more concrete news. I think we all trust David to do what’s best for him, We all want to give him the time and space to figure things out. We all want him to be happy. We all think David is better off splitting from Jive and Melinda. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take away that concern in our hearts that what David may feel is best for him at this time may not be best for us.

“I may be selfish, but we need him. I need him.” And may I add, Silverfox, that the world needs him too!

I was thinking today of a story from my childhood about a butterfly struggling to release itself from its restricting cocoon. A man, observing the struggle, attempted to assist the butterfly by cutting open the cocoon, hoping to ease the insects burden, and quicken it’s rebirth. Ironically, by so doing, it irreparably damaged the beautiful butterfly preventing it from ever spreading its wings and flying. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the struggle required by the butterfly was a way of preparing the body so that it would be strong ready for flight.

As David appears to be starting a new chapter in his life, shedding this last phase–an important one of growth and learning, and yet a restrictive one with a company that seemed to hold him back–how hard it is to be patient. We want to help him, we know what he is capable of, we want to see him spread those wings and take flight! I know it will happen, but it may take time. Whatever time he needs, I have to keep reminding myself that it’s part of the process in becoming who he was meant to be. Here’s to hanging in there until he’s ready to take off!

I hear you, Ray, SF, Dak, SB and Djafan, I can’t imagine life now without David’s music. I don’t think for a minute he is going to quit music for school or a mission at this time or probably ever. He was born to sing and he knows it. He will find his way and meet his destiny. I’ll will support him 100% always – it’s really not a choice. He has an extraordinary gift and I think we are previleged in that we recognized it so early. The rest of the world will in God’s time.

  153. Am struggling with my feelings about all that has happened to David. My first thoughts were for him and if he was ok. This article and comments along with his tweets helped me realize that he is in control of the situation. Since I know very little about the music business, I have to trust the Archulator. I do realize that his decision may not be what I’m hoping for him but it is what he wants for himself or feels he needs to do. This whole journey has been such a life learning experience. I feel I’ve learned so much from this young man – first through his music then through his actions. Better than any nonsense reality show out there (my relatives are big on them) and much more meaningful. Thank you David Archuleta.

I’m anxiously awaiting a vlog, as he will let us know exactly how he is doing. Maybe not in words but definitely by his facial expressions. Also ‘saw a bit of sadness in David’, (SandyBeaches#140) in his last vlog before he talked about the children in India. Left me perplexed at the time.

I miss David, too. For me it’s a feeling I’m familiar with, however. Have not been as fortunate as many here but yet I feel fortunate that I have seen & met him twice – David/Demi tour; CFTH tour. Wasn’t able to see AI7 tour (two other functions planned back in February); solo tour (had Phoenix concert tickets, airline tkt but husband’s cancer surgery); MoTab (husband’s birthday) or even the Grove (on the other coast). All were close enough in proximity but the timing was so off. Come to the realization that if it happens, it was meant to be. Still kills me though…..

Angelica, 🙂 What a very emotional rollercoaster ride in Davidsland and for me, On Saturday I had to leave my family to fly back to Bangkok to take care of my mom she had a minor eye operation , it all went well but very scary though. Without my laptop, I have to use public internet(not a big fan of it)!!! to come to “THE VOICE” and felt like got hit by a train about David’s news, man what a news!!! all I want for him is happiness and smooth sailing success with bed of roses all the way and on his terms, I guess I just being unrealistic ha ha but a talent like his it just not right…..but yeah like everyone of you I never had any doubts that that day will come sooner than later, I trust him and us fans. David just needs to know that we care and will be here to support him and love him always.

Oh, have to say that TOSOD is one of the best album out there(at least in 2010-2011 if not ever), it truly is. Eagerly waiting for the next big things to come.

  155. skydancer#150 – you are too funny – “Jive, is just a four letter word.” Hahaha!! Also you made the point – he just wants (wanted) to sing. “David Archuleta will NEVER stop singing. It is his passion, his love,it is what drives him, it is what he has always wanted to do, and he has thanked God every step of his journey for the gift of allowing him to sing He didn’t have surgery, because more than anything else he wanted to sing! He tried out for American Idol because he wanted to sing.Put his education on hold because he wanted to sing.”

That is what he’s said & what you said is so true.
