A Gathering of Angels

Posted by djafan on Friday, January 28, 2011

David is in India, assisting with the effort to uplift and give comfort to those affected by the far-reaching effects of leprosy.  January 31st is World Leprosy Day and he, along with others will join Rising Star Outreach to celebrate the progress made in eradicating this disease and the suffering it inflicts on so many.

While we wait for his safe return, what can we do besides pray for him and the people he has rightly asked us to focus on?

The Voice has formed a group on Angels for a Cause and we want to invite you to join our group there.  I have lately prayed for guidance for some way that we can harness all the positive energy from this site.  All of you, whether commenters or lurkers, have contributed to the abundance of love that is spoken here.  We hope you will join us and become one with us on Angels for a Cause.  It’s a start and who knows where it will lead and what good can come of it?  Every journey begins with a single step.  So here then are the steps to take if you want to be a part of the journey with us.

Steps to join The Voice David Archuleta.

1) Click on this link: angelsforacause.ning.com

2) Sign up

3) Go to email to verify your email address.

4) Create profile

5) Click join

6) On Angels for a Cause Community tab click on Groups

7) Click on The Voice David Archuleta

8) Click on join

We welcome suggestions for what we can do as a site and group to give back.  Please let us know in the comments and we can discuss.  You are all a part of this family we call The Voice and you have a voice too.  There is still time to purchase a brick to pave the Pathway of Hope as a group.

One step at a time, one brick at a time, one life at a time…we can make a difference.

Good morning or afternoon to some.

What I found is that you can donate any amount from $5 to whatever and specify the project “Pathway Of Hope” and select the group your in and David. As it accumulates and reach $50 you can then put it towards a brick. I think this is doable. But I think it be great if we all sign up and join the group even if not able to donate at this time.

As much as David wants to keep this on the down low, he will be interviewed.

    Continued…

From dentist to Chennai: At an appointment with my dentist, he showed me the pamphlets of Rising Star Outreach in Kancheepuram and I was shocked to learn that leprosy still exists. And these people are cast out of society, so I decided to get involved.

American Idol, minus Simon Cowell: I don’t think Simon’s absence will affect the show too much as I think the show needed a fresh new start. As for the new judges, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, Tyler is so funny and seeing someone like Lopez is just amazing. The age bar has been lowered (contestants who are 15 can now audition). I saw a lot of young people who were dedicated and that’s what matters at the end of the day. Whoever has the heart will have no problem in the process.

Surprise show, fan clubs: I would love to (perform) this season but the producers do not give too much notice, so I don’t know for sure. Talking about fans, I was once walking down the street when this girl saw me and suddenly let out a scream. The only problem was she would not let go of my hand and I tried really hard to get away (laughs).

Inspiration: Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Kelly Clarkson.

No plans for Hollywood: My family keeps me in check as they have taught me to treasure the simpler things in life.

Loving David’s interview above. He is willing to express his view so openly, I have to smile.
I agree that it will be nice not having the Judges argue.

I watched AI last night and…Simon who? Who knew? Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are refreshing and very likable as judges and the show has become overall easier to watch.

Wonder how David’s first day went in India. Waiting for tweets from the choreographer. Seems she’s our only link.

Interesting that David goes to India and is attempting to be low key, yet he is being interviewed over there and the buzz is all over the place.

    David Archuleta – American Idol

David Archuleta was named first runner up at the end of Season 7 of “American Idol.” Since then, he was signed to a contract with Vibe Records and has gone on to have early success in his professional singing career.

It has been almost three years since David Archuleta was voted first runner up on Season 7 of “American Idol,” but it’s a part of his life he will never forget.

Today, Archuleta, 20, has transferred his success on the popular TV talent show into a professional solo singing career. His most recent album, The Other Side of Down, was released by Jive Records in October 2010.

Currently, Archuleta, who is of Honduran decent from his mother’s side, is helping promote the new season of “American Idol” (Season 10), which premiered last week with 26 million viewers tuning in.

During an interview with me, Archuleta talked about the type of changes he anticipates now that longtime judge Simon Cowell is no longer on the show and why he has always embraced his Latinos roots as a performer.

More buzz! This from the Hollywood Reporter –

David Archuleta Thinks ‘American Idol’ Changes Were ‘Necessary’
Plus, he critiques new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
    January 28 7 comments
4:20 PM 1/28/2011 by Shirley Halperin

American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta doesn’t watch much TV, but he wasn’t about to miss the momentous Season 10 premiere! In fact, he and the rest of the Archuletas made it family night and sat together as the world was introduced to new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. “It feels like the first season of American Idol is starting again,” he says. “That same excitement is there.”
Ever the half-glass-full optimist, a chat with the lovable dimpled Archie, whose new album The Other Side of Down, was released in October, is nothing if not an uplifting experience, and this time was no different. Read on to hear more of his thoughts on Season 10. And, as always, you can find him on Twitter.

THR: When is the last time you and your family sat down to watch Idol together?
We never do that, but what’s interesting with this season is my family was excited to see it, too. When I was on the show, they got overwhelmed by the whole American Idol experience, but they’re still fans. It’s almost like that fresh start brought this new, fresh excitement back.

THR: What did you think of Jennifer Lopez?
It was really fun to watch her. She’s someone I’ve grown up respecting by watching the Selena movie and my mom enjoyed listening to her music. I just loved seeing a Latina on there representing.

THR: A lot of people were commenting that she was being too easy on the contestants, what did you think?
[As a judge], you understand the nerves that people feel, so you can’t help but feel empathy for them. They’re performers, and I think ladies naturally have that nurturing side to them. As you saw with Paula, she was always nice, but she got a little more tough as she went along, realizing, you get over feeling bad for them and start giving them real critiques. I think she did a really great job for her first time. It’s not easy to tell people to their face and be honest if you crush their dreams. It’s a long, tough process, to get the courage to get up there and audition in front of those judges and those cameras and those producers in the background. It takes a lot of guts.

    “A Gathering of Angels”…such a beautiful & poignant title.

It’s Saturday morning in India. David is probably up & ready for a another day of new adventures and experiences. As we keep him in our thoughts, I offer the Prayer for David as he starts the new day…

    Dear Lord,

Please take care of David and protect him from all harm.
Cloak David with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with those who will love and support David unconditionally as we, his Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give David rest when he’s weary and stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give David assurance when he feels doubt and give him joy when he feels sad.
Keep David always in your protective arms when he is traveling near and far.
Keep David healthy and his voice clear and strong as he fulfills his Destiny.
May David continue to encounter goodwill and happiness wherever his life’s journey takes him.
May David always know & feel the love and pride we feel for him.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
    Amen

    David,
Have a great day. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always! TAKE CARE.

It’s Sunday morning in India. David is most likely up & getting ready to attend Sunday Services and as usual, we will not hear personally from David himself today. I was so happy and surprised to see videos of David performing at the fund raising event in India. He looked glorious and very happy to be there. And as we keep him in our thoughts, almost constantly I should add, I offer the Prayer for David…

    Dear Lord,

Please take care of David and protect him from all harm.
Cloak David with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with those who will love and support him unconditionally as we, his loyal and devoted fans do.
    Amen

    David,
Have a wonderful Sunday! Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always! TAKE CARE.

    Have a good night everyone!

Angelica, you asked me what I wrote on my brick! I thought it over and I was going to write something from one of his songs, or another quote, but I thought again that I could possibly repeat what has been already written. So, I decided to write my screen name. It is a walkway of stone and my name is all about sand and beaches that we walk upon which are warm, healthy, comforting and in tune with nature. Also, I thought that it might be good to add my province and counry so that people could see one part of the world where aid is coming from. For me, when I walk upon one of our beaches, we get to look out over the ocean to imagine where England, Europe and all of the countrys might be. It would be great to see more addresses showing world support.

So this is what I wrote…

    SANDY BEACHES

It’s 7:00 Monday morning in Chennai, India. Today will be a very busy & unforgettable day, I’m sure, for David. It’s World Leprosy Day in India and the main reason David is there. It will, as we all believe, be a life changing experience for David. It’s ironic most of us will be sleeping during this most important day in David’s life. I’m counting the days until he comes home & shares with us, as much as he cares to, his time there and the special people, especially the children, he will never forget.

As we keep him in our thoughts, I offer again the Prayer for David…

    Dear Lord,

Please take care of David and protect him from all harm.
Cloak David with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage and guidance to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.

May David continue to encounter goodwill and happiness wherever his life’s journey takes him.
May David always know & feel the love and pride we feel for him.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray. Amen

    David,
On this special day, may it be all you hoped it would be & more. Come home soon. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always! TAKE CARE.

It’s been a very beautiful Sunday here at my house. Nothing new or outstanding. I just have had the most beautiful feelings all day knowing that I’ve done just a tiny little bit for RSO by donating a brick. I want to do so much more, but I’m still sorting it all out in my head.

How amazing that David has lead so many of us into a fold that has us serving people that are on the other side of the world. People that need our help. People that we will never meet. In my heart, I have found that I need them, too. Their beauty has touched my heart in a very special way and will remain in a very special place.

I’ve been so touched that the admins on this site saw fit to open a group on AFAC so we could all participate. Thanks.

“Today, Jan 31st (or maybe tomorrow in the states), is World Leprosy Day. If you want to learn more about the kids and people who I’ve been meeting with you can go to RisingStarOutreach.org and see how you can help out! Thanks you guys! Will let you know more when I get back!”

    Hey refnaf!!!

Thank you and wishing the most success in your business endeavor. So waiting for tour dates!!!

SF, your prayer is balm to my soul. Thank you!

David tweets!!! I wonder if he knows about all the activity at RSO and just reading Stacey’s tweet, the thought of David washing those poor peoples wounds fill me with such unexplainable emotion, so proud.

Tawna, thank you! David is such an influence, I don’t know how to explain it, his goodness is contagious.

    Bebe,

“I feel my life changing…even if I had a cold bucket shower this morning :”

When I saw David in San Diego after he came back from touring in the UK, there was a definite change in him, very visible. I don’t know much about this person but I know if this experience has affected David to the same degree as to her, I can’t even imagine what we will see when he gets back.

    David makes the Arab times!!!

‘Idol’s’ Archuleta on the new season ‘Fresh start brings new excitement back’

LOS ANGELES, Jan 29, (RTRS): “American Idol” Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta doesn’t watch much TV, but he wasn’t about to miss the momentous Season 10 premiere! In fact, he and the rest of the Archuletas made it family night and sat together as the world was introduced to new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. “It feels like the first season of American Idol is starting again,” he says. “That same excitement is there.”

Ever the half-glass-full optimist, a chat with the lovable dimpled Archie is nothing if not an uplifting experience, and this time was no different. Read on to hear more of his thoughts on Season 10.

Love the Angels vid…he talks of accomplishments – focusing not on limits, but on possibilities. He has little time for negatives, more interested in what people can do than can’t do. He truly understands that this helps us more in life than the alternative.

With his ability to inspire, you can only imagine what the possibilities could be. This is why I hope for him to become hugely, hugely successful.
