Loving That Boy

Posted by thefunnygirl on Monday, November 8, 2010

I wrote this letter to David right after Season 7 and I collected letters from other fans to be put into a notebook which I gave to David’s dad at Ford Day.

Dear David,

Your voice jumped out of my television and into my heart  as I tuned into another season of American Idol. I have watched the show every season, and was ready for another entertaining one this year. I had no idea that I was about to be overcome with a rush of emotions, and plunge head-first into a joy I hadn’t experienced before.

From the first moment I heard you sing, I knew that you were something special. It seemed as though you weren’t singing, or performing, but acting as a channel though which the music came.  Your voice touched a place in me that I didn’t even know existed, a place where flying feels possible, and love and beauty abounds.  I have never been so moved by someone’s voice before, and I don’t believe that I will be again. I didn’t know I needed to feel that place, but you came and showed it to me. I didn’t know that my heart could soar so high and that I could be so uplifted by a voice, but you sang and the path became illuminated, and I’ve been in flight ever since.

Getting to know you during the season just endeared you to me all the more. Your sweet spirit and humility, your joy and strength of character are an inspiration and a blessing.  Thank you for sharing your gift with us. It means more to me than you will ever know.

I wish you much success, love, happiness, healthy children, and a life filled with music. May your soul soar as high as you have helped mine to do, and may God bless you always.

Here I am, two full years later, dressing up at work as a David Archuleta fan for Halloween, and nearly winning the contest! I love to promote David whenever I can, and getting paid to wear my ILAA I Heart DA shirt is like some sort of sick recompense for all my pain and archusuffering. I work at a busy mall, and see a lot of people. I talk a lot, and as most of you know, shyness is not one of my finer qualities. Over the past two years, whenever I wear the shirt, I see people’s wheels turning. Sometimes the gears are grinding so hard that smokes come out, and other times I get an eye roll, a knowing smile or a blank stare. The best part is when I walk down to the food court and a whole bunch of people see me. I guess I am a rebel with a cause.

I like to take stats during these events. I’d say that most times about 50% of people know who David is and like him but don’t follow him. The other 50% have clearly been living under a rock. This time was different. And I don’t know why, what with no radio play but this Halloween, we had a costume contest at work, and I dressed up as a David Archuleta fan and people were VERY into it, squealing, laughing, and OMGing. This time, about 80-90% knew who he was. I saw the votes after they were posted at work and WOW the comments were awesome:

Awesome David fan – he rocks!
Crazy David Lady – LOL!
David A all the way
OMG so much fun we love David!
ARCHULETA!!!!! 🙂
david fan you go girl!

One lady asked me if I was dressed as a Cougar! To which I replied, “Whatever would give you that impression?” to which she laughed. (Takes one to know one lady!)

One dad shopping with his kids, when told about the ballot box, said this to me:  “I don’t know what’s scarier, Halloween or a grown woman loving that boy!” OUCH!  I replied, “Well sir, I had no idea that talent had age restrictions.” and he walked away.  Yeah well I chewed on that for a while. Tasted like blubber, mixed with yuk.

CLEARLY this guy made some quick assumptions: David is young and therefore not to be taken seriously and I am old so why would I listen to a young singer? HMMMM has anyone ever heard of Stevie Wonder or Elvis, or countless other young gifted vocalists? WAIT! Why I am getting upset? Why must people be so ageist? This guy hasn’t read my letter and must have a closed heart. Was I going to let this ruin all the fun I was having? NO way!

I have to say it is hard being an older fan. The younger fans are creeped out. Our families and friends don’t understand. The general public assumes we are cougars. But do you see how happy I am in these pictures? Do I look conflicted or upset? I never once thought about his age the whole time on Idol. I never cared until others told me I should. But I don’t. That may be insensitive but I really don’t care.

Not caring is VERY freeing. It makes grown women dress up and show off all their loving of that boy. Loving that boy has been one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I won’t let anyone devalue that. Loving that boy has shown me that there are sweet, wonderful people in this world. Loving that boy has shown me that age is irrelevant because he is wiser, kinder, and more full of grace than 10 full-grown men ever thought they could be. Loving that boy is so beyond anything that anyone who doesn’t love that boy could even begin to comprehend.

DAVID ARCHULETA ROCKS!!!! 🙂

Awesome post thefunnygirl! Age certainly does not matter at all! David is soo darn lovable you can’t help but love him no matter what age, sex, or race you are. I don’t have that problem of people thinking I’m to old for David since I’m 15 buy I do get the occasional eye roll and comment of ‘You only like David cuz he’s hot!’. Indeed David is hot but he’s an incredible talent with a voice that sounds like heaven with velvety smooth undertones. Plus his personality and soul is just as amazing. So kudos to you for not caring and for having fun while promoting David lol.

Thank you FunnyGirl, for sharing this beautifully eloquent letter you wrote to David.

This paragraph . . . “From the first moment I heard you sing, I knew that you were something special. It seemed as though you weren’t singing, or performing, but acting as a channel though which the music came. Your voice touched a place in me that I didn’t even know existed, a place where flying feels possible, and love and beauty abounds. I didn’t know that my heart could soar so high and I that I could be so uplifted by a voice, but you sang and the path became illuminated, and I’ve been in flight ever since.” . . . I sat in my own home, far away from yours, and felt those same feelings.

My love for David Archuleta; I can’t explain it, I can’t logic it away, I can’t deny it. It just IS, and I am blessed because of it.

Your “love letter” to David is so touching. I think David probably keeps that letter together with his other precious collections in his desk drawer. He knows the mouse who lives inside that drawer will help him take good care of it whenever he’s out of town.

“cougar!” ha ha ! My husband always calls me that when I am on line searching for anything David. Hey! For a person who has never watched American Idol before and after season 7, who only listens to classical music before she found David Archuleta. I must say David has this un-explainable magic power that drags me to his world . I like him a lot –respect him as a super talented musician–but after I found out my daughter has the same birthday as his, I love him even more !! It kind of makes me feel he turn into my son for real.

    Love him! Just love him.

Thank for your article , nice.

WOW!!!What great article…You said the words that I would of said and I know others that feel the same way..I have meet some of the most wonderful friends at Davids concerts, that I probably would of never of known, ever. They are the same, or around the same age as I am, and we have e-mailed each other and have so much fun just knowing each other….There are four of us and we are getting together for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert on the 19th of December. Two of them are flying in from Mass. and NY…to meet Carolyn, my friend here in Utah, for the first time, but have keep in touch with her and have not even met her yet…..We all feel like we have been friends forever….We can’t wait for that week-end… David has brought us together….We feel the same way about his voice, we respect him, and just love him… We are platinum fans and always will be… You probably would call us “Cougars” also, (I know we are, because of our ages) but we are proud for him and we love him dearly.

I always love your posts, funnygirl (do you have a Twitter?)!

I am shy so I probably could never do the outgoing things you’ve described. However, I do get the eye-rolls & snickers from friends & family who know I have ODD (well they probably don’t know what that means, but they think I’m crazy). My tennis team just laughs at me now (several have received “Christmas From the Heart” from me) for suggesting we bring a boom box to play David’s music at matches and I play his cd if I am driving to an away match … hahaha. My sons call David my “third and favorite son” even though I remind them I have never cooked, cleaned, changed diapers for, sat up with all night when sick for or car-pooled everywhere for David as I have for them.

I love that I have gotten to “know” so many David fans on Twitter and have met a few of them in person and they’re great people. I love that the people I talk to there are of all ages. The young people on Twitter seem to accept all of us older fans as “not crazy” (thank you, Diana) and I love talking to them because they’re really intelligent, funny, creative and nice young people.

WowArchie, I don’t think that’s a “desk drawer” anymore that holds his letters and precious collections — it’s got to be a few storage units!!!

    Thanks, David fans. You’re GREAT!

Funnygirl, I can really identify with you, and some of the comments you get. My family was really worried when I flew to Reno by myself to a David Archuleta concert!! I knew there would be plenty of people of all ages to share the day with. I think I was the oldest but everyone in line for those 12 hours became like family. I’ve been a David Fan from day one when he appeared on American Idol. I admire you for dressing up for Halloween as a true fan. Last summer I was able to take 10 family members ages 10-70 to David’s concert and it definitely one of my fondest memories. I have great nieces who are the accepted age for being a David fan so I always see that they get David’s CD etc.

FG…it is an established fact in David’s universe now that he loves to perform to everyone all ages and that is refreshing and good enough for me, (so anyone else, take a number and stand in the complaints dept.) From babies to grandmothers, and the grandmothers take in a few of us, he sings his heart out. A wonderful example is his visit to the retirement home last year.

You writers are starting a new trend lately to have your beautiful pictures in your articles but readers don’t get too used to the new tradition! I will find an extraordinary picture of David, I promise, to take my place and who will complain, haha?

Nice to meet you through your fun filled pictures FG and I loved your article this dreary, November morning

Great letter FG. The comment by the man who said he “didn’t know what was scarier, Halloween or a grown woman loving that boy”, says a lot about the world in which we live today. The problem is, in today’s world, love is perceived as only being connected with romance, or even worse, sex. A lot of people don’t understand that there are many kinds of love that don’t have anything to do with romance. The love you feel for a child, grandchild, dear friend, and yes, a sweet, talented young man who has a heart of gold. I, too, felt all those things you talked about in your letter. And, even though I’m old enough to be his grandmother, I love him dearly. His voice blesses me like no other, no matter what his age. I hope to someday be able to go to one of his concerts. I saw him last summer at a radio “birthday bash” in Louisville, KY, where I live. And, even though he only sang a few songs, I felt really lucky to see him. After that little taste of what a concert would be like, I am longing for the whole meal. Hopefully, he will tour after the first of the year, and come to a place close enough for me to go. And, no matter what my friends and family think, I will be there with bells on.

It is difficult being an older fan. I’ve never been a fan of any singer before and never been older before so this is new for me in many ways. Why did I wait so long to be a fangirl?

Because there was never a David Archuleta until now. Duh.

More power to you for flying your freak flag so high! You are an inspiration to the fanbase! Thanks for standing up and shouting out a much-needed message; that ‘loving that boy’ has nothing to do with his age, and everything to do with his incredible talent, intellect, humility and character.

You know what’s getting “old”? That older fans are looked at as a little weird for loving a nineteen year old artist? Did we make him 19? Are we responsible for how old he is? David appeared on a TV show that is watched by millions of people of all ages. When you’ve lived life for a while and become ‘a certain age’ you can spot phenomenol talent when it jumps out at you from a TV screen.

David has already brought so much good into this world and has brought so many people together. I believe that this is exactly the way it was supposed to be.

Besides, It’s out of our control. He has cast a spell on us that will never go away.

Funnygirl, “I didn’t know my heart could soar…”. That line took me back to when I first fell (hard) for David. My heart WAS soaring. It actually changed me inside and out. Someone even asked me if I had lost weight cause I looked to light and “graceful” (their words). It was the sheer joy I was feeling at all times that made me a different person.
I wasn’t looking to love David. I can’t stand celebrities. I never watched AI. All it took was one look and even thought I didn’t know it right away, I was hooked. “Something about that kid”, I remeber thinking. Then I saw him talk in an interview after the Finale. His innocense and awkwardness jumped out at me and made him so endearing to me. Then I saw those eyes close up. I was such a gonner. Then I heard him SING. God almighty.
I never thought about his age. To me, he was just David. My beloved David. My beautiful secret.
I remeber struggling trying to make sense of what was happening to me. I don’t anymore. David has a special place in our home now that he’s made fans out of my two daughters. Although they dont’t have ODD (or at least they don’t show it). If more people knew how special he is, it wouldn’t seem so odd for us older folk to love that boy.

Several people at church know that I have O.D.D and tease me good naturedly but I was surprised yesterday when a fella came up to me and said…”did you get Davy tickets?” I replied “no” but that my friend from back east is giving me a couple of her tickets. He sadly said…”I didn’t either”….then we discussed the fact that he didn’t have a friend back east to make sure he got there. LOL! It was fun to chat with him about the friends I had made because of “Davy”! He was at the Real soccer game and said what a fine young man he was. He was impressed with the good he does. To bad he didn’t get tickets cause I think he would be even more impressed.

I am excited to be able to meet up with some of Davids fans…it will be great to be at the concert but also great to meet others just like me…O.D.D. and all!

FG, loved you article. So well written. I could feel your love and joy. It’s just like mine. I wrote David a letter last year and gave it to him at a VIP. I told him that his more “mature fans” were so proud of him and that because we have been around for a while and seen and heard other artists over the years, we know a great voice when we hear one. We can appreciate his talent even more.
I am lucky enough to be going to the MTC performance on Saturday evening and the Sunday morning concert. I know that a lot of us fans from “Golden Archies” are getting together before the concert. Maybe I’ll bump into some of those from the “Voice”. Hope so!

About the dad that commented “I don’t know what’s scarier, Halloween or a grown woman loving that boy!” You said “CLEARLY … This guy hasn’t read my letter and must have a CLOSED HEART”.

Lynnella, I think that this might be the answer to why some people don’t ‘get’ our intense reaction to David and his voice. A closed heart indeed, anyone with a closed heart would probably say lemon even if they had just consumed the most delicious dark chocolate from Bernard Callebaut (a Canadian company that makes the most mouth watering chocolate you have ever tasted).

I forgot to mention something that I noticed about David as of lately. My father was a conductor, (orchestra, not train!) and I recognized how David is using his free hand as if he is conducting, maybe bringing instruments and his voice together, or possibly marking the beats. It might be just for one bar of the music or possibly more. He is just that musical and I love it when he does it!

I’ve noticed that lately too. Like he’s using his hand to create a visual of the notes on the scale he’s singing. I think it’s a growing need he has to become the music, not just vocally but to physically find a way to give expression to the song.

Review of TOSOD from by Karen Datangel of Baby You’ll Be Famous
    (entertainment critic)

“David Archuleta can only go ‘The Other Side of Down’ in latest album

If you can keep track of all your American Idol seasons, you’ll remember that the fresh-faced David Archuleta came in second place to rocker David Cook in the show’s seventh season in 2008. But other than his sticky-sweet youthful looks and charm, Archuleta won over audiences and a loyal fanbase with his soaring renditions of inspirational tunes such as “Imagine” and “Angels.” Two years later, following a stellar debut and a holiday release, the 19-year-old Utahn shows even more growth as an artist with a new studio album, The Other Side of Down.

In The Other Side of Down, Archuleta stays true to his clean-cut image, incorporating the inspirational messages he conveyed in many of his Idol performances and singing about the purity of love. But while he’s always had a maturity in the way he presents his music, and still shows that on this album, there’s a younger, lighter sound at the same time—better for people his age and younger to relate to, yet grown-up enough for the older demographic to appreciate.

Another impressive step forward in Archuleta’s career, as demonstrated through this album, is that he has a songwriting credit to all but two of the tunes on the standard record—something that wasn’t seen on a large scale on his debut effort. His creative prowess shines through on the diverse tracks and poignant lyrics.

The debut single “Something ‘Bout Love” exemplifies Archuleta’s new sound well, although it doesn’t reflect all of the album. The retro-80s sound is loud and distinctive, but the message about the L-word is real, yet almost polite for the singer, and that’s something that is uniform throughout the record. There are plenty of catchy and bouncy pop jams to fill your ears with, like the title track and “Elevator.” There are meaningful mid-tempos, such as “Good Place” and “Complain.” Of course, an Archuleta album wouldn’t be complete without ballads, like the pretty “Falling Stars” and the piano-driven album capper “My Kind of Perfect.”

The just-read-the-title-and-you-know-it-inspires track “Things Are Gonna Get Better” is pretty epic with a gospel choir joining Archuleta later in the song with their vocals. But the title of Karen’s personal favorite track off The Other Side of Down goes to “Stomping the Roses,” a guitar and drum-based poppy number.

While I have to be honest and admit that this album is not exactly on heavy rotation on my iPod, it’s still a solid and remarkable effort from Archuleta. His music is full of depth, but still manages to perk ears up and although he still has that cute-young-boy-next-door vibe, he continues to flourish in how he presents a song with emotion as well as in his sophisticated songwriting. That, my friends, is a sign of manhood, and things for the already-accomplished Archuleta can only go up the other side of down.

    OVERALL SCORE: 7/10”

    Djafan,

That’s how I meant it too…like it’s something he can’t repress and it just finds a way out through his body. He has always used his body to interpret a song but now it’s more organic and unintentional.

    SB, Angelica and djafan,

When David sang “Falling Stars” in Fresno it was the first time he accompanied himself on the keyboard. Towards the end of the song it became clear that he had to use his hand to express the emotion in the song. He took his left hand off the keys and let the music come out of him through his hand as well as his voice. That may well become one of his trademarks. It’s really beautiful to see.

    SB, Angelica, djafan, and bebe,

I’ve noticed the same thing and totally agree with all you’ve said. Bebe, I thought it was absolutely the most beautiful thing I could see, to watch him take his hand from the keyboard and release himself from it so the music could flow out from his soul. It tugged at my heart when I saw it.

I’m still hoping for some pics and vids from the last 2 events.

Tawna21, SB, Angelica, djafan, and bebe,

I’ve also noticed David’s hand when he sings. I love when his hand reflects his vocal changes in a song. There are some songs where I’ve noticed him curl his fingers in, or stretch them out, as his note changes, as if he is using his hand to control how he curls a note, or pulls back on a note. I hate to admit how many times I’ve replayed a portion of one of his videos just watching his hand movements. I still can’t figure out if his hand is a reflection of his voice, or if he somehow uses his hand to control his voice. It’s like he’s playing an intrument, and the instrument is his voice.

Lyrics, thanks to Rach at ArchieRX

    (Ey ey ey
    Ey ey ey)

    Ey ey ey
    Ey ey ey…

    Sometimes when you talk,
    I don’t hear a thing,
    Don’t take it wrong.
    I look at your face,
    And bells start to ring,
    Then my mind’s gone.

    If I was a fire,
    You would make me burn,
    Heyyyy, eyyyy, hey

It doesn’t take much for you
    To break down my gravity.
    You got my heart stuck,
    Stuck on a cloud,
    And I can’t speak.

But if I was a book,
    You’d be every word.
    Heyyyy, eyyyy, eyy

    Twenty-five hours every day,
I got nothing else better to do,
Than watching the smile light your face,
It doesn’t get better than you.
    All that we need
    Is a starlit sky
    And you and me.
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    It’s true,
I got nothing else better to do.

    Ey ey ey
    Ey ey ey

    An island of green
    And blueberry eyes,
    Wish we were there.
But you make me feel I’m in paradise,
    Anywhere.

    If I was a song,
    You would make me sing,
    Heyyyy, eyyyy, eyy
    Yeahhh

    Twenty-five hours every day,
I got nothing else better to do,
Than watching the smile light your face,
It doesn’t get better than you.
    All that we need
    Is a starlit sky
    And you and me.
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    It’s true,
    There’s nothing else better…

You’re bowin'(*) on a red cupcake,
    Sound a cello & a violin make.
    Oohh,
    Oohhh

You put the rings around the moon,
And every single time I’m close to you,
    Whoooa,
    Eyyyyy

    Twenty-five hours every day,
    Eyy-heyyy,
Watching the smile light your face,
    Yeahhh yeahh,

    Twenty-five hours every day,
I got nothing else better to do,
Than watching the smile light your face,
It doesn’t get better than you.
    All that we need
    Is a starlit sky
    And you and me.
    Oh oh oh oh oh
    It’s true,
I got nothing else better to do.

    (Oh oh oh)
Ey ey ey ey ey ey

Got nothin’ else better to do

    (Oh oh oh)
Ey ey ey ey ey ey

I got nothin’ else better to do

    There’s nothin’ else better (better)
    Better to do…

I understand David is “visiting” djafan on Dec 29th, a day after his birthday! Oh how I wish I could attend. The Grove is indeed a beautiful venue. Here is a little flashback from David’s CFTH Tour when he performed in Anaheim at the Grove. Notice the hands. 🙂

Also, I hear David will be leaving for Asia, maybe tomorrow? If so, for David..

    Dear Lord,

Please take care of David. Watch over him. Protect & keep him safe from harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with people who will love and support him unconditionally as his Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he’s weary and stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt and give him joy if he ever feels sad.
Keep him always in your protective arms during his journey overseas.
Please give us and his management WEG, the wisdom to do right by David always.
Help us and his managers in the way we support David so that it’s in his best interests.
May he continue to encounter goodwill and happiness wherever his journey takes him.
Most of all, keep David and and his voice healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
    Amen.

David, Buenas Noches! Sleep well with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always! HAVE A SAFE & UNEVENTFUL, PEACEFUL FLIGHT & PLEASE TAKE CARE!

DEETS ON DAVID’S MANILA TRIP 🙂

David Archuleta here on Nov. 17

Here are the details of American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta’s (photo) return visit reported as “breaking news” in yesterday’s Funfare:

After he conquered Manila last year with his back-to-back concert with David Cook, Archuleta is set to delight his fans as he promotes his sophomore album The Other Side Of Down at a showcase slated at the SM City North EDSA Skydome on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. Buy a copy of the album
and have signed by Archuleta himself. It features the hits Something ‘Bout Love and Elevator.

Not only a follow-up to Archuleta’s 2008 self-titled debut, it’s a reintroduction to “the boy with the angelic voice” with whom 30 million televiewers fell in love during AI’s seventh season — now older, wiser, with faith still on his side and an eternally optimistic wide-eyed outlook. Hence, the album’s title.

“For me, it’s about moving forward and making progress,” Archuleta explains. “I’m heading towards ‘the other side of down,’ which is ‘up’.”

Archuleta’s The Other Side of Down Manila promo tour is presented by SM Supermalls, SM North EDSA, Sony Music, MYX, ASAP Live, The Peninsula Manila, Magic 89.9 and RX 93.1. To download Archuleta’s ringback tones, truetones, full track music from the album, just text ARCHULETA to 3456.

    SOURCE: http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=628717&publicationSubCategoryId=70

SKYDOME has about 1,200-1,500 capacity – the same venue where DC had his M&G last year. A booth will be set-up at the Gate where the fans can buy David’s CD – which will serve as ticket to enter SkyDome 🙂 Logical, right?

He will have a slew of radio/TV interviews + presscon all on the 17th. He arrives on the 16th & leaves for the US on the 18th.

HEIDIJOY — I also have difficulties logging on other sites. It is probably because of all the accounts we create on different online venues! Just email MARLIE so she can help with the log-on problems. Or email me ditasy@gmail.com – so I could see to it 🙂

silverfox: Such a beautiful prayer. Safe Travels David. ❤

While we're talking safety, am I the only one whose first thought on seeing that little clip was, "Oh, David, please don't be jumping out of any airplanes." We worry enough about him on airplanes he stays on!

Fell asleep on the couch, TV blaring, bright lights, no blankie…*whimper*

Would love to be at The Grove in Anaheim on Dec 29, the day after David’s birthday and enjoy the look on his face while his fans sing Happy Birthday. 😀 The Grove is the type of venue that I love for David; elegant, sophisticated, full of charm, just like him. 😀 But I’m 3,000 miles away on the opposite coast. Imagining it is half the fun.

Silverfox: So sorry you’re a little under the weather and thank you for coming here to post your prayer, anyway! Wishing David and company Safe Travels!

    Amen.

Betsy and JR Many thanks for the skydiving video! Love the wonder in his voice!

JR, We sincerely appreciate any deets on David’s Asia trip. The more deets, the better. Get those mangoes ready; our boy loves them! I’ll do my best to hope he sings “Crazy”. Most of all, have a blast!

    Melinda Rocks!

Gonna drift away tonight to NEBTD. The mix of the guitar melody, that voice, those lyrics… totally takes me away to a very happy place.

    And I adore the ending.

Oh my… Nov 16 declared a holiday here. More incentive for Pinoy Archies to go to the airport & welcome him despite super tight security due to travel advisory…

SonyPhil is in for a mega headache! LOL

FG – How come I remember reading that letter before? Anw, great message & such sentiments I think is what David appreciates the most from fans. The part about older archies – poignant and representative of what the rest of us must feel at times 🙂 I also don’t understand why the label “cougar” is almost always immediately attached. I mean, when did people start translating ‘admiring a person that you know you will never have a direct personal relationship with’ to cougarish? Has Hollywood warped human expectations to the point of taking out other forms of love?

BLUESKY – this refers to your touching post in the previous thread — “And he is looking at me from his journey and not from the moment. So what touches me has come a long, long way and is no momentary handshake. Sometimes, he’s just the messenger…” Goodness, that was beautifully expressed. You should write a lot more! Perhaps that’s why a brief encounter w/ him causes enormous impact. You nailed it! David connects from a position of strength founded on a fulfilling existence – a life that regards the journey above all destinations. Thank you for shedding light on this.

Nov 16 declared November 16, 2010 as a national holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

So it has nothing to do w/ David’s arrival 🙂 But I wouldn’t be surprised if some government officials will be at the Immigration to welcome him… hehe

Haha FG I have had my moments with folks wondering why I care so much about David. Today I was explaining how David will be on the Orla Fallon TV special and I played some of CFTH for my client. She saw the cover and remarked how young David looked. I told her that was the worst choice out of so many pictures taken for the CD. So I had to whip out my iPhone to show her some “manly” stubble on his cheek.

“Oh my! He is a handsome man, isn’t he? How old?”

“He is 20 in December. You can pick up his CD at Target or Walmart.”

” Oh I need that. He is so good!”

FG makes me cry once again. My first letter to David was very similar to yours, but yours is much better written. Now, if I could only be bold enough to wear my “I ♥ David Archuleta” shirt in public! One of these days. David deserves it. I love this place!
