Part 3 ~ Getting Closer
Posted by djafan on Tuesday, October 26, 2010
After YJfanofdavid dropped me off at my hotel, I made my way to my room without the slightest apprehension except for my sanity. At this moment waiting for me in my room were two people I had never met except online, and one of them had once made a comment about eating someone’s belt “with fava beans and a lovely sweet tea.” I knocked and the door was thrown open to reveal two dark-haired, smiling women, one short and one tall, both with out-stretched arms to welcome me with a big hug. Funny Girl was the taller of the two and the petite lady was Marciami, who had gifted me the VIP. We laughed and talked for a good while and I’m sure disturbed the neighbors with our high-pitched shrieks and squeeing. Strange how when it comes to David’s fans, I’ve never met a stranger. So before turning in we have to plan our strategy for tomorrow. What time should we get up? We don’t need to be at the VIP until 11:00, I said. We could get up at 7 or 8 or 9 or 10, I said. I’m easy, I said. And why oh why do I even bother saying this when I know the answer is a foregone conclusion? We set our clocks and I call down for a wake-up call of 7am. They then wanted to discuss what to wear to breakfast and I told them what NOT to wear. Bwahhahahah!!! They ROTFL! So about 12:30am we called it a night. There were two queen beds in the room, and Marciami and Funny Girl bedded down in one and I took the other. As I turned out the lights they looked so sweet and cherubic in their jammies with the covers pulled up to their chins. That vision evaporated soon after I crawled into the remaining bed and my ears were assaulted by the sound of what could only be described as one Ursus Americanus, or American black bear, known to be prevalent in that region of the country. I was not worried, as the species is for the most part vegetarian and is generally not a threat to humans. Not one to be easily alarmed, I ignored it and went on with my slumber. Why, just the night before I had been abruptly awakened by the sound of gunfire only to find in the morning that one of my Diet Dr. Peppers had exploded in the freezer. It was a gruesome sight and I don’t envy the maid who discovered its remains on my departure.
The day dawns or the dawn breaks and flings us from our warm beds and down to enjoy the complimentary breakfast dressed in appropriate attire. That done, we start for the car and I suddenly realize I have no gift for him. I always bring him some little happy, even when I have no VIP or chance to give it, so I grab a couple of items from the buffet and stuff them in my purse and away we go! Funny Girl drove and Marciami rode shotgun and served as navigator while I took the back seat.
I must tell you that aside from being in real life a perfectly lovely person in all respects, Funny Girl is a bit intensely wound. There were times in the hotel and even while driving, when she would do this thing that was something between a normal shudder and that thing dogs do when they first step out of the bath. As far as I could tell, these spasms only ever occurred when she was viewing a picture of David or listening to his voice. We were of course, playing TOSOD in the car the whole way and there were times when I thought she was going to shudder right into the next lane. I had my window up and was glad of it, for more than once the image of her hanging her head out and spraying me with drool came to mind. “Stomping the Roses,” which she insisted on replaying between every other song was the most dangerous cut, but any one of them had the capacity to induce euphoria and vibrations. She even wore a gray and black blouse with roses on the front that she told me was her “Stomping the Roses” shirt. At last, dry and intact, we arrive safely at Pete’s Grill, where the concert and VIP are to take place. We are among only a handful of people there yet. We feel unfashionably early. The sight of a mom with tweens is welcome and we let them in line ahead of us. Very soon the sidewalk fills up and a lot of familiar faces arrive, including YJfanofdavid and the Canadian SnowAngelz, Tofan and Refnaf. The line quickly grows to extend down a city block. The radio peeps come around to put arm bracelets on us according to where we are in the line. The lower the number, the closer your seat will be for the concert and the closer to the front of the line for the VIP. In all 280 people will show up that day to see David. My number is –

I’m sorry, y’all, but the heck with making a movie about David’s life. I think someone should make a movie about his fans. You really can’t write fiction this good. Do you know what is really scary? I have an aunt prone to, ummm, eccentric clothing choices, so the mismatched bathing suit and boots didn’t even make me blink. She called me one day to tell me my wardrobe was a bit drab, and I could liven it up by mixing colors found in nature, specifically on birds. I’m supposed to dress like a parrot?

I’ve been gone for the past 5 days with no access to the internet. After unpacking and straightening-up around the house, I sat down to log-on to my favorite David fansite: The Voice. What do I find when I get here? Ahhhhhh, I find a juicy,(woot! woot! on the bathing suit and boots!), hilarious, very well written, can’t wait for the next part, true story that has me on the edge of my seat! Thanks for the humor and I am eagerly looking forward to the-rest-of-the-story! 😉

Talent in Review
As my gardener was Stomping The Roses after pruning them for their winters sleep, it occurred to me that there is Something ‘Bout Love that makes you want to see David’s music climb up those
charts. I don’t want to Complain, but The Other Side Of Down is My Kind Of Perfect album and if I don’t see any chart movement the Day After Tomorrow I will Look Around for a Good Place to cry.
Things Are Gonna Get Better when Elevator become’s a video and Falling Stars proves to be the song for lovers. As David flies around from event to event he will have no doubt that Who I Am tells his fans the story of a young man focused on his music and knows what he is doing and is just trying to walk in his own two shoes.
It is here you’ll find the gift and talent of David Archuleta in one of the more spirited Pop albums out today. The Other Side of Down features a whole plethora of uplifting, positive and lyrically witty songs written by David with the most charming and delightful arrangements.
David Archuleta makes clear to his fans and listeners of new and old that this album reflects his emotions, thoughts and his quirky side of being a teenager. David pulls out all the stops to create one of the finer recordings of 2010. This is a wonderful example of David’s talent as a singer and a songwriter.
In an age when radio is saturated with auto-tuned anthems and outrageous lyrics, it is such a treat to listen to an undeniably talented singer that connects to his audience and takes them on a musical journey.
Pick up a CD for you and a friend!
Lastly, does that red headed Delta lady explain parachutes and airplanes before take off? Humm! Lol.
Please write in David’s name!

angelica – who needs tv or movies, when one can be entertained by by your series of articles. Thanks for this, love it.
Also catching up the past four days after another road trip (3 weeks) where internet access was limited at best. After two days of using my iPhone with limited data plan (to visit this site), I realized I had nearly used all of my MB’s what a bummer. Good thing I did have TOSOD (CD, itunes download) and a vehicle with mp3 player, ipod, iphone & GOOD pair of noise isolating earplugs. Love TOSOD – esp. Falling Stars, Stomping Roses & Parachutes & Airplanes but they are all so good.
In some way, it was good that I missed out on the angst over sales & radio play of the album. Think I understand the overall picture of where and what David wants to go with his talent or gift. Just grateful he is able to share it with his fans and those who need to hear & feel his music.

Okay, Angelica, you are in trouble now! You said this was going to be the last one at chat on Saturday night, and when I get to the bottom of this most ROFL article, installment 3 and supposedly the last one, I see …to be continued… once again. You are killing me here, and I think you are so thorougly enjoying each and every moment of it. By the way, that pic of the swimming suit is priceless. I need to go shopping and try to find one and some boots just like those. What I wouldn’t give to see you running through the lobby with that outfit!! :)))) You are a hoot!
I so hope someday I get to meet you at one of David’s concerts. I am adding to my “David fund” with each paycheck and it is growing quite large so that I can satisfy my desire to meet new David fans, not just on the internet, but in real life. I so totally agree that we could really write a funny book about fan escapades in the sake of seeing David at a live event. It would be a bestseller especially if you wrote it.
I love this place, it is a good place to come to!!

“I checked Orla’s websight and noticed that her fans suggested that people check with your local public broadcasting station and request the Orla Celtic Christmas show be broadcast. It is up to each public television station to determine their programming. I contacted Alabama Public Television and requested it, and received an email that they are still in the process of determining their holiday programs. They also stated that they had heard that the Orla Celtic Christmas program was a good program.
It might be a good idea for Archies to contact their public

From ainow:
“David Archuleta’s “Falling Stars” has been added to the What’s Cool page on AllAccess.com, spawning a series of interesting tweets from co-writer Emanuel Kiriakou: “The word “single” is a scary word..RT @valzeeFOD @EmanuelKiriakou – What does this mean exactly? Will Falling Stars be a single or what?…I wish I could answer all you @DavidArchie fans’ questions on “Falling Stars” but the fact is this is the record business in 2010..in other words, let’s hope “Falling Stars” reacts. Soul ticklers aplenty
PAULINE LIMBU KATHMANDU, Oct 27: This week’s top spin is studded with soul-tickling creations from Orianthi, David Archuleta, Sheryl Crow, Akon, Ne-Yo, and Kelly Rowland.
“Elevator” by David Archuleta is another song that arrives with a bang. In terms of music, vocals and lyrics, “Elevator” is subtle and strong. The song isn’t pushy, and allows the audience to go with the flow. Lyrically, I find its strength in the positive energy it keeps rolling just as Orianthi’s “Courage.”
In the track, life is shown as an elevator that sometimes takes us up and at other times tears us down. It gives a message of taking chance, not being afraid to let go; and regardless of what has happened so far, continue to keep the dream alive. I would have the song as one of the best new releases with high prospects for commercial success.

THIS!
“My grandmother has dementia. She only speaks Spanish & has forgotten who certain people are. She really only focuses on me, my mom, my grandpa, my great-uncle (her brother), a few others, & for some reason, David Archuleta. She thinks he is my brother, & consequently, her grandson. When she starts to scream & freak out over small things like she sometimes does, we play David songs for her to calm down. One day, when she got to meet David at a VIP event for the first time, he recognized my mom & I first & said, “Hey, how’ve you guys been?” My grandma told him in Spanish, “Oh, it’s so good to see you, grandson!” & I just looked at David & apologized. He smiled & said, “Oh no, that’s okay!” Then he looked at my grandma & told her, “You look pretty today!” My grandmother smiled & got tears in her eyes, & so did I.
People ask me why I love David? That’s why.”

Judge Orders Lime Wire To Shut Down
LIME WIRE has been ordered to shut down its program that allows users to download, upload and trade music recordings. BLOOMBERG.COM report “U.S. District Judge KIMBA WOOD in NEW YORK ordered the file-sharing website operator to cease all ‘distribution and support’ of its P2P file-sharing service, LIME WIRE spokeswoman TIFFANY GUARNACCIA said TODAY (10/26) in an e-mailed statement. The court injunction wasn’t immediately available online.”
In AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/12), LIME WIRE, accused of infringing on copyrights on recordings, requested a jury trial in a lawsuit filed by music publishers.
“Naturally, we’re disappointed with this turn of events,” LIME WIRE CEO GEORGE SEARLE said in a statement. “However, at this time, we have no option but to cease further distribution and support of our software. LIME WIRE remains open for business,” SEARLE added, saying the company is “creating a completely new music service.”
UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, WARNER MUSIC GROUP and EMI MUSIC GROUP brough the suit against LIME WIRE.

Nice review from a first timer.
Winner, Winner, WINesday #2 ~ David Archuleta CD Giveaway …
Written on October 27, 2010 by Keri Lyn in Product Review, She Saved Giveaway, Winner Winner WINesday!
It’s Winner, Winner, WINesday … and here’s another fun Giveaway for you….
…this next review is one that I was a bit hesitant to do, only because I was worried that I might be a little out of my element. I was asked to do a review of David Archuleta’s new CD called The Other Side of Down. I instantly had to google “David Archuleta” (… yes, I know … can you say “no clue”?) I don’t watch American Idol, and honestly, unless it is a cover band for a cartoon … I am probably the LEAST knowledgeable person when it comes to what is “cool” in the music world. BUT … with that said. . . I said that yes, I would like to review this because after a quick google search, I decided that the rest of the world knew something that I didn’t.
My CDs came a few days ago, and we have been listening to them in the car … and I have really enjoyed them. I can see where David reaches a young audience because his music is hip and fun, but I also find this album to be a really great mix of songs, and a great variety. I also find it refreshing after 5 years of The Wiggles and The Chipmunks. This kid has an amazing voice and delivery. Honestly, I am now a fan 😉
If you would like to hear some of his songs for yourself, you can preview them on Amazon and just read the reviews! You can also check out the video of his song “Something ‘Bout Love” on YouTube.
Want a chance to win this new CD by David Archuleta?… TWO SheSaved readers will win a copy of David Archuleta’s new CD, THE OTHER SIDE OF DOWN… Here’s how to enter:
Entry #1: Check out The Other Side of Down album…. what is your favorite song? ….come back and leave a comment letting us know!
Entry #2 ~ Subscribe to my daily email newsletter or RSS Feed (and if you already do, thank you … give yourself a second entry as well)
Entry #3 ~ “Like” David on Facebook ~ then come back and leave a comment letting us know that you do~
…and I will leave this giveaway open until 10pm tonight, Wed Oct. 27th (mnt time) if you can still comment…you can still win! … GOOD LUCK!!
*Disclosure: I did receive a David Archuleta CD for review.… and I only recommend products that I personally use and believe are worth mentioning to my readers. These opinions are my own and were not influenced by anyone else.

Thank goodness David is going on tour in Asia where he hopefully will not be written about in the same type of advertising as in the following..”We will have our coupon handout sheets and restaurant menus available. There are many great food choices to choose from”. ahha…and the entrance is free.
I wait for the day to see him once again own the stage. For all of those who think that he must pay his dues, well he has finished all of that many times over, a long time ago. He is beyond all those antiquated thoughts about what he must first do to earn his way one fan at a time.
After all, David is one of the most well known and beloved singing super stars on our planet already!
This Asian tour will be another major turning point in his career just before he returns to his magnificent Christmas performances with the Tabernacle Choir.

Oh Angelica, you are one heck of a lady, writer, swimsuit model… hee hee love all the post and comments on here.
Regarding David comming to Asia/Malaysia!!! if it’s really in early November like I saw in a tweet that would be strange imho cause haven’t heard of any promo or announcement yet but then again don’t listen much to radio, lately they play his songs more ofter I think, This morning within 10 mins drive to send the children to school, 2 songs were played on 2 radio stations almost at the same time guess that a good sign I’m so happy. I did look up the radio web site don’t see any info either. My selfish self hope that He will come for a full concert… say next year cause my eldest daughter (David’s biggest fan too) will start her very important exam during mid Nov-Dec so timing is not right. Anyway if he really does come his fans in Mal. will be more than happy to welcome him. We love him here… then again what’s not to love about David. None…

It’s late and everyone is in bed I’m sure…especially my kids! Just had to check in and say how much I love David’s new album. Such a great album–one that the world really needs to hear right now. One that I really needed to hear today. I got some difficult news today and was crying as I was driving in the car. My little nine year old was worried and said, “Hey Mom, let’s turn on David, he’ll make you happy.” I didn’t even think David could make me happy today, but she proceeded to crank up Stomping the Roses and then Parachutes and Airplanes…and then, well, we all know that David can be a pretty persuasive guy…by the time we made it home, things didn’t seem quite so bad. It’s hard to stay down when listening to David. The world needs David.

Kaycee,
David does have a way of changing our mood, first through his music and then reinforced by his wise and sometimes humorous tweets.
Glad things started looking UP. Wise son you have there. 🙂

rotflmbo, Angelica … I am totally on the edge of my seat here …even though I was there for Part 3! 😆 😆 😆
And djafan, not sure who took that picture from Canton, but that’s exactly how I remember David looking up at me after he’d signed my CD, which is why everything I’d planned to say vaporized from my brain and all I got out was “Thank you, David.” 🙂

“Falling Stars” sent from JIVE to radio!
A third single from TOSOD released!
This song might be the one that catches on!
This is another song by EMAN!!
EMAN, wrote the mega-hit “Crush” for David!!!
It could happen again!!
I know we’ve been discouraged lately because we haven’t been hearing David’s songs on radio but this is NOT the time to give up!
Use the link below to request “Falling Stars” on your local radio stations!
Find your state, then click on the radio stations listed that are closest to where you live.
Then look for the “Request” prompt.
(For Z100, for example, it’s under “Music” on the toolbar.)
Since the song is brand new, it’s probably not yet on their list. Go to the bottom right and write in “Falling Stars” and the other info including your zip code, email etc.

Afternoon Everyone! This is totally off topic, but I noticed that CFTH is available as an mp3 download at Amazon for $5.00 right now. I like Amazon mp3s which seem to be higher quality, at least to my ears, and the Amazon downloader cooperates well with Itunes for tech challenged folks like me. Just thought I would let you know!
I’m excited for fans in California and Asia. I wonder if Sierra Vista Mall knows what is coming their way? Heh.

Mixed emotions about David going to Asia… happy that he will be promoting and Asian fans who love him so much will get to see him but sad because I won’t be here. Just my luck that (if it’s confirmed that he’s going in mid-Nov)while David will be in Asia, I will be away on a trip. I won’t get to see him again.

From what I have heard (from Sony Asia) is that this trip for David is going to be a radio PR tour, and then he will be doing a full tour with concerts the first quarter of 2011. So…keep your fingers crossed that this is true!

A friend sent this to me. I wanted to share it with all of you here.
Being a good person is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all of the yucky stuff — including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a bright new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

I have requested FS, Elevator, SBL and even Crush between yesterday and today here in my area. I sent an email to the dj telling them how happy and excited we are about David coming next week in which I mentioned or inquired about the release of Falling Stars. They know his fans are outthere and that we want to hear and see more of him.
I am staying in the positive vibe cause that’s where David is!

# 79 MunkFOD Thanks for your “rumor” the best rumor I’ve ever heard. Full concert 2011 will be the best more time for concert promo and more time for fans to prepare and plan their trips. I’ve saved some money for this for a while now ha ha. I keep all my 20 fingers crossed…hopeful hopeful

Angelica…I’ve read your re-caps to my husband, and he’s laughed as hard as I have thru them!! WE can’t wait for Chapter 4! He’s becoming very David fan-ish. 🙂
I recieved an e-mail from my PBS channel here in Utah and Orla Fallon’s Celtic Christmas Special will be on KUED7 on Wed December 1st at 8:30PM. I haven’t heard back from KBYU as to whether they will be airing it also.
In the meantime…..we wait….for MoTab tix news.
I’m glad that David is on his way to Asia and more promos! Wouldn’t it be so fun to travel to see these long-time fans that have been waiting sooo patiently?! They have certainly taught the rest of us a lesson in patience. Love all you.

Good Place is one of my favorites too…and I also have a habit of late night lurking and posting. Work and kids usually keep me from daylight visits to The Voice.
Just had to post this quote of Angelica’s again…because I love it!
“I just can not bring myself to worry about David’s career because there is a frequency greater than radio waves working in him and FOR him that will bring to pass his ultimate success in due time.”
I thoroughly believe this, and it will be success on his own terms and in his own way.

I wish everyone on Twitter would stop asking David to do things for them. Vlogs, specifically. He already does so much for us.
He’s probably getting in some needed family time. And I am glad of it.

#93 Betsy thanks for the video, it reminds me of the CFTH VIP (my one and probably only) in Baltimore last year…he sang this and it was STUNNING…I couldn’t move/breathe. I was so happy he sang it…that alone was worth traveling 8 hours one way and the price of vip! (and the front row seats in front of his mic for the concert)
