Hi everyone. I don’t have a computer @ home currently so I have to make do with my phone. Unfortunately it won’t let me see the twitvids. Rats! I don’t know if any of you have looked on Youtube & seen the full studio version of My Kind Of Perfect. It’s the first time a song made me cry just because it’s so sweet, poignant and David’s voice is just devastatingly perfect. Listening with headphones you get every nuance. That boy just does me in!! I can picture him singing it on a Broadway stage in a play written for David, starring David. I’m certain it would be an instant hit!

I absolutely love “Good Place” and I would love for as many of us as possible to be together in a theater somewhere when he sings this song. He is not the only one who can dream. It has been a bit of a long journey in the last few months and this song brings it all home…Of course there might be a few tears, lots of applause and a standing ‘O’…The lyrics are fabulous as they are in the others.

Bebereader, I’m sure David loved hearing your husband saying to him that he wished he had 100 students like him in his class. David wants to be appreciated primarily as an artist. The celebrity “thing” is something he accepts as “coming with the territory”. Kudos to your husband for that moment with David.

As I watch David becoming more comfortable on stage, and his voice soaring with ever increasing confidence, I am struck by an undeniable fact. David’s talent and charisma has outgrown his modesty. The case he tries to make that he’s not “all that” now holds no water (actually it never did)and would be thrown out of court.

We’re in for quite a treat on this upcoming tour.

Gotta be honest..I have not been a fan of the radio promos & fairs David has been doing because I feel David is above these kinds of promotional gigs & events. I still do. But I realize too, that if not for all these appearances we wouldn’t have had a taste of what’s in store for David’s solo tour. I realized listening to his awesome songs is one thing, but listening & watching the videos of David singing the songs that are so obviously close to his heart, his “babies”, is such a huge gift to us. Every song on TOSOD is special because David says they represent HIM and David is so very special.

I have a question. The band today was different than the band from Wichita, right? Were they local musicians hired for the concert today? I know some solo artists do hire local musicians for different venues. Just wondering if that’s what David has to do.

Anyway, David fantastic today. He’s fantastic with or without a band. His voice is the only instrument he needs & HE is the reason we are still here. We are so blessed…

    Dear Lord,

Please take care of David. Watch over him, protect & keep him safe from harm.
Cloak him with your love and give him the strength to endure all that is thrown in his path.
Give David the courage to say no to those who ask for more than he can reasonably give.
Surround David with people who will love and support David unconditionally as his Archangels do.
Separate David from those who have agendas other than for his well being.
Give him rest when he’s weary and stamina to sustain his hectic pace.
Give him assurance when he feels doubt and give him joy when he feels sad.
Keep him always in your protective arms during this time on his journey.
And please Lord, give us and his new management the wisdom to do right by David always.
Help us and his new management in the way we support David so that it’s in his best interests.
May he continue to encounter goodwill and happiness wherever his journey takes him.
Most of all, keep David and and his voice healthy & strong as he fulfills his Destiny.
Though we may be unworthy, we humbly pray.
    Amen.

David, Buenas Noches! Sleep well with sweet & happy dreams. Thank you for all you do and for who you are. Keep with you all our love, support & prayers always. Contigo siempre! We will be with you always! Please TAKE CARE.

    Good night.

Oh, I love everything I’ve heard and seen of these songs. The album is obviously a beautiful work of art and every song and every performance deserves the greatest respect for the genius that is David. I would hope the tour planners are looking at mid-size venues and that there will be some kind of elegant staging worthy of David and this wonderful music – perhaps not on the level of the Christmas tour décor but something more than a plain stage. It would also be my hope that MKOP not be in the regular setlist but saved as the encore, thus doing away with the band members returning to the stage while David is still singing – rather distracting. I can picture a darkened stage when he finishes his set, a standing ovation, and then he returns to sit at the Nord (better still, a baby grand) and is bathed in the glow of a single spotlight while he sings the poignantly beautiful MKOP. Oh my, not a dry eye in the house but certainly another standing O. Gosh, hope I can be at one of those performances.

Awwwww Steno, what a visual, hope it comes to pass. I’m still hoping against hope that he gets some promo out here in the west.

Though I’m so excited because my granddaughter was at Best Buy with parents and called me and said listen, I hear SBL!!!!! She said it came on the sound system throughout the store and had to let grandma know 🙂

SF, they were the same band members with the addition of Toad, the keyboardist. David is practicing and testing the waters with his new music in these settings. So by the time tour comes we will be blown away. What is so frustrating are the stations that have him and still don’t play his music..grrrrrh.

Angelica, I’m not even going to try to pick favorite they’ve all gotten under my skin, but TOSOD’s visual of David moves, that beat give me the chills.

Bliss: Thank you! I appreciate your comments! I’m truly blessed that my husband is one of David’s fans. But I’m no dummy; I realize that his line of work enables him to recognize talent which helps him put aside my madness and see things more clearly than other men who are having a harder time with their wives’ ‘addiction’.

I remember so clearly that evening in January 2008…

My husband was never as interested in AI as I. He tuned in when they were down to the last four or five contestants. But that night was different. I was in the livingroom, watching the San Diego auditions and he was in the other room when David sang “Waiting For The World To Change”. When David finished, my husband called out to me “Who was that?” I wasn’t at all in ODD mode yet and answered “Oh, a cute kid named David something, from Utah. I can’t pronounce his last name. [shame on me LOL] Why do you ask?”

    He said “That’s your winner.”

    He was absolutely right.

I’ve been a concert junkie and music lover my entire life. Music has always fed my soul in good times and bad. I’ve been to M&Gs, VIPs, helped out on the street team of other artists but I have never in my life encountered someone with a voice, a heart, a soul and a character as beautiful as David’s all wrapped up in one person. Some may call it madness. I call it magic.

Ah Bebe, I too have a husband who follows David closely, but then he has little chance to do otherwise. I ask him questions sometimes when I just ‘can’t figure’ (usually in regards to lack of radio play), then we have a good conversation. I have never heard him be able to explain things about another person as deeply as he can about David, really strange but wonderful. The album is a compliment to his devout fans, a huge compliment because some of the songs seem to be addressed exclusively to his fans to listen to. He did want to tell us about himself and that would be to the people who really care.

Back to the “Good Place” for just awhile.

#45 Betsy, So happy for you that you got to go to the concert. Thank you for deleting the rumor about a earring on Jeff. LDS men and women are discouraged from body piercing and tattoos. Women are only to have one piercing in each ear lobe. You will never see David with a earring or a tattoo. It’s not a sin that will send you to Hell but it is considered a mutilation of the body and can give a wrong message. If a person already had tattoos before becoming members of the LDS church they are not asked to remove them. David is not going to hire someone for his band or crew just because they have tattoos or an earing but he might not want someone having a piercing on their lip or eye brow during a performance. Mike K. has an earing. I hope that none of you are offended by this but I just thought that some of you might want to know.

#50 Bliss, I love what you said about David. Your writings are like poetry to the ear. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

After listening to the new album, I have picked my favorites. First, Falling Stars, then, Things Are Going to Get Better, next, Something Bout Love and then My Kind Of Love. I guess I am a sap.

I can’t say that this album is better than the first because I loved all the songs and how David performed them.

It might as well be called his kind of love! 🙂

I think I must have died & gone to HEAVEN. I am in HEAVEN! Listening to the entire TOSOD for the second time since I got home from work! It’s a magnificent work of art! I am in awe!

    My dear David!

What you have created IS YOU…dorky? Awkward? AS IF!?

It IS YOU all right..GENIUS, pure genius just like YOU! I am so overwhelmed, so in love all over again with The Voice singing these great songs, with the lyrics, & the melodies, everything about TOSOD…I love it. And I really didn’t expect to LOVE the entire album at first listen but I did, I DO!

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but whoever doesn’t like this album, at least some if not all of the songs, must be tone deaf or just plain deaf! 😉

So true! Beautiful song, whatever the name, it’s been playing in my head the entire day, with a side order of FS. And a little TOSOD for dessert! 😀

Silverfox#69 I hear you and am in total agreement! Each song is a masterpiece of its own. I trust David’s musical genius because any song he has ever recommended to us has turned out to be something I really liked. A lot. This album, with it’s optimistic lyrics and melodic tones has such an upbeat feeling and that feeling transfers to anyone who listens. I am so in love with it I can barely think straight today. 😀

    Story time!

Many years ago when I was very young, we had one telephone in our house as did everyone else. My first memory of a telephone was that you had to call the operator to tell her what number you were calling and often people had to share the lines (called party lines) and take their turns. Still, there were musicians who had their hits on the radio. Our parents bought their jazz, rock and roll and stage band albums. Into the sixties we were able to dial our telephones with a number, but we still had one phone and calling in requests was limited in most families. So, how did the stars get their music on the radio without our undying assistance? Was it not accomplished through record sales? Did the radio stations/djs count on us to call the shots by the requests? So why now must fans be so responsible to make it happen that a singer’s songs are on the air? Stars were introduced on The Ed Sullivan Show, American Bandstand and many singers became popular through their acting in movies. We do not only buy the cds but in order for the djs to take an artist seriously, we must be go-getters and feel the responsibility of voicing our requests or it might not happen.

I have been thinking about this because of the radio station touring that David has been involved with and after each visit it is not guaranteed that they will even play his songs. Fans have become frustrated. We fell in love with Elvis and the Beatles and every other singer after we saw them on television and heard them on the radio. New fans appear after they have seen David in live concert, or on television, so why has the responsibility shifted to the fan to make so many requests or it just won’t happen? Album sales and the selling of concert tickets should be of much more importance, IMO.

There needs to be a change, perhaps going back in time to see how it can be done. One person voting 100 times a day for two days is still one person requesting, not 200 people honestly. So, who are they trying to fool by having this as a method of placing a star’s music on the radio?

I brought this news over from Soul David incase there are some like myself who have not surfed everywhere finding the details of David’s new management. Perhaps it is well worth repeating!

This news from ‘Kizzi’ that tells us a more complete story about David’s new management team and how they will work with him:

“Over at AFS it was reported that Johnny Wright of WEG is David’s manager, signed as of yesterday. Melinda Bell works for WEG and she will probably be with David on tour, meet & greets, etc., and act as personal liaison between WEG and JIVE. She’ll also probably be his “contact person” for any appearances as well. Note probably. Melinda Bell is reportedly EXTREMELY LOYAL and is the type to really fight for the artist.

    Good news indeed!”

    SB,

Good to hear more about David’s new management team. David’s album is a GEM & David is like the rarest of Diamonds, with nary a flaw, IMO, even if HE doesn’t agree. Let’s hope his new managers keep in mind that Davi’s fans L O V E him, are loyal & protective & expect them to ALWAYS have David’s best interests as their first priority. I expect WEG, Mr.Wright & Ms.Bell to work as long & hard for David as David does for his fans. If they do that, we will get along just fine.
    😉

Don’t know where David is tonight, but he will be traveling to Little Rock AR tomorrow, so…

    Good night.

SB #73….I completely agree with your comments here. I have the same questions. I remember that calling in and requesting was done basically on Friday and Saturday nights during certain times and they were usually dedications to someone (your crush of the week!). IDK, maybe these calls did help promote the artist, but I do know that I didn’t call in to try to get the song played more. I just called in because I wanted some guy to hear a song that I had dedicated to him—l.a.m.e I know, but that was just the way it was a very looonnnngggg time ago.

I’ve found it verrrryyy frustrating that even after he performed for B98.7 here in Utah, and Todd and Erin flailed the way they did over him, his songs still are not played any more than they were, and yet Taylor Swift had a new one on there this morning (it’s a typical TS song–nothing new, no new sound to it 😦 ).
*sigh* I don’t know how we can do any more than just love and respect David and hope that his new management will get things moving.

djafan Thanks for the warning on the videos in #74. Watching that TOSOD up close…wowsa! David is letting loose! He’s almost there. Give him a couple more performances of these songs and he’s going to be moovin’ and grooovin’! The question becomes “Can we take it? LOL

MandaGrace#77 Welcome to The Voice. So glad you decided to join us. For whatever reason you decided to delurk, I’m glad you did. 😀

SB#78 What a relief to finally hear something concrete about David’s management team. I like that Melinda didn’t waste any time and started communicating directly with the fans on Twitter. That she knows where to find us and is willing to talk to us says a lot. Before, when we had a concern, it felt like we were talking to ourselves or each other with no results. I’m optimistic that good things are to come of this.

Silverfox: Thank you for the prayer.

OK I made a PDF version of the lyric sheet cos some archies cannot open the doc file

    http://www.mediafire.com/?a87e9xvxo3d907d

Just to clarify, this is not the official lyric sheet 🙂

I just realized, they will be launching this w/o a hit song… I hope the whole album will be received with more than average response.

For sure on TV he will sing SBL… I hope he gets to sing one of the slower-tempo like FS or MKOP cos the full beauty of his voice is really showcased in these pieces

But don’t get me wrong – I like STR too and my fave of all the trax is WIA. But GP is heart rending, an ode to his fans or at least that’s how it gets me. Complain is so David. TOSOD is to die for. PANDA – the strings! that was a lovely surprised

O *&^%$#@)(*&^%$## – am getting a headache (a good one actually – if that is even possible, LOL) with this album. I think you would have to kill me if I am asked to choose one!
