Hurricane David Season Approaching

From remarks made here at The Voice and in chat, it appears we are headed into another Hurricane David season. Judging from the early information coming in, it could be a Category 5. So I thought it was time to post some emergency preparedness information.
COPY AND POST IN YOUR HOME:
1. Have paddles fully charged and at the ready.
2. Check oxygen tanks.
3. Check supply of smelling salts.
4. Have anti-spazz medication re-filled for extreme attacks.
5. For THUD protection-have pads and pillows handy on the floor. Helmets only if needed.
6. Older fans might want to check their Depends supply.
Alert family members or a friend what to do should they find you exhibiting any of these conditions.
.1. Babbling incoherently-only able to point.
2. In a stupor- unable to speak-only point.
3. Have face lock—unable to close mouth and eyes bug out.
4. Weeping uncontrollably.
5. Weeping and smiling, babbling, and pointing all at the same time. (BAD)
6. Having an ear to ear smile that lasts for 4 hours or more.
7. Look like you stuck your finger into a live light socket.
8. Are sitting or laying in the fetal position with a blank stare stuttering D-D-D.
9. Have uncontrollable chair dance spasms.
TREATMENT:
Have the responder gently remove you from in front of the computer and guide you to a darkened room where you can lay down- play some soothing David music, i.e. Fields of Gold-Somebody Out There and quietly close the door and leave you alone!
RESPONDERS:
It is important that you DO NOT do any of the following:
1. Criticize.
2. Make snide remarks.
3. Roll your eyes.
4. Attempt an intervention.
IF YOU ARE ATTENDING A CONCERT:
1. Try to sleep the night before (good luck).
2. Stay hydrated.
3. Remember to eat.
4. Try to remember who you came with (in case of a stupor or separation).
5. If you are meeting David –expect to get hit with Archuheimers disease (you will not remember your name or that you can say anything that makes sense.
6. That disease will wear off in a couple of days –to be replaced by a feeling of sadness and melancholy that your experience was over too soon.
7. That feeling will wear off in a month or so and you will be plotting and planning and conniving ways to attend another concert.
8. Then back to the computer and all the wonderfulness it holds.

djafan#11: Finally, a DJ who showed David the respect he so deserves! This interview was all sorts of win! Interesting to learn that David worked on 50 songs for this cd. He also said that of the songs chosen, there are only two that he did not write. It’s going to be a looong wait until October 5!

Sounds like they have really let him take the reins on this album and he has had an opportunity to do some of everything, even a hand in some of the producing. This is so huge for him and as he said, what a great learning opportunity!

Thank you all for your nice comments—but I must give credit where credit is due– I am responsible for only the words in the article. Who ever (admin)? put up the pictures to go with it were absolute geniuses. I felt like I was reading something someone else had wrote,and laughed my tail off too. I want one of those shirts too!
After listening to this mornings interview with David and his SPECTACULAR singing I found one more symptom to add to the list:
Running around the house like a mad woman shouting to David and the walls and anything else that would listen
how fantastically , marvelously, unparalleled,
stupendously, wonderfully mind boggling a person and talent he is. Good thing I was alone or I might have been committed to the funny farm.

Just wanted to point out something while I am thinking about it:
What other visiting celebrity to a radio station would give notice to a DJ’s family picture sitting there and comment about it on the air, even ask how old his son was? I tell ya this sweetheart just totally blows me away.

Then I told him that I had thought that I put a “Spinner” CTR ring in the gift bag but when I got home, I realized that I still had it, so I wanted to give it to him now. David said, “Ohhh, thank you. I have been wanting another ring because I lost mine. I am always losing things like I lost my car keys, my wallet…..”. He added to that list of lost items but now I forget what they were. I was listening for him to say cell phone but he didn’t. Then he took the ring and put it on his left hand ring finger and thanked me again. Later I noticed that he still had it on for the concert performance. I was so excited!!!”

#39 Djafan, you are right about David loving kids. Here is my grandaughters experience at the Meet & Greet in Greenville, SC.
After our photo was taken, David turned and talked to my grandchildren. He asked, two year old Alexis (who is a fan of David’s), “Is that a ball (that she was holding)? She said,” Yes.” He said, “Is that your ball? Oh, that’s so cool. Is there something inside? (it was transparent) What is it? Alexis didn’t answer (she was mesmorized) so my daughter said, “Shiny glitter”. David would have talked longer but I knew we only had seconds to be with him so i interupted so that I could give him the ring. My daughter who was holding Alexis at the time told me, later, that David was so sweet and cute. That she just wanted to “pinch his little cheeks”. My daugher wasn’t a fan before. Now she is.

Dak OMG! When I saw your article I was so thankful. I am going to use all that info later this week at Six Flags. I will be sure to pack water, bananas and defib paddles.

Hi everyone, My gosh, what a great day yesterday! Spent the entire day with special David fans, it was fabulous.I did get to see David for a second before the show. I got a quick pic and got to tell him I loved “Elevator”. He smiled and said “awww thanks”, haha. David, as you know, was amazing! I’m uploading the rest of my vids now, I know they are “old news” now,haha, but David sounded soooo good. I loved “Elevator” from the cellcast, but live, wow he just nailed it. Didn’t sound at all like he struggled with those high notes. Oh, and my dad took still pics with his “big” lens while I videoed, he literally has hundreds from sound check and the show. I’ll let you know when I get them up too. Touch My Hand , acoustic, should be up in a couple of minutes! Sorry I’m rambling, blame David and no sleep!

Pabuckie, thanks for posting the video of the interview today. The performance of SBL this morning may have been the best vocal I have ever heard from David. The quality of his voice was so plush and beautiful, it’s impossible to describe. The only word that comes to mind is–delicious. “Crush” was another killer, I mean, he’s performed that song more times than Michael Jackson did “Billy Jean”, yet every time he finds a way to make it new and original. David is truly an artiste in the literal sense of the word, and when he finally is unleashed to really strut his stuff, it’ll be “look out below”, because that’s where every other singer/performer will be.
The great ones have always made it it look easy, but this is ridiculous.

Bliss, I know what you mean about the ” plush” sound of David’s voice. I wish you all could have heard him in Louisville. Fourth Street Live! is an outdoor complex between buildings, in the street. It is covered with a glass “greenhouse”- like high ceiling.(That’s the best way I can describe it.) At sound check, when David played the keyboard and sang Crush, his voice filled that place like no one elses. I stayed until the end of the show, and listened to every group. Naturally we all know there was no comparison, but I’ve been fortunate enough to hear David many times and there is a “fullness” to his voice that is new. It was breathtaking when he sang, just… I can’t do it justice.
By the way, Check yes Juliet with We the Kings will be done in 13 minutes, boy, was he ever jumpy.

Bebereader, yeah that was me. It was horrible of me, but David looked good of course! And I don’t know why we look to be the same height in that pic! I’m 5’4″ and he is always a couple of inches taller, somehow, even as I approached him, he looked shorter. Maybe he was standing in a low spot!

Emily I’m glad you have your eye on “one man” and “one man only” for the We The Kings video! lol The way you captured his entrance is amazing! Can tell you’re eyes were “glued”!
All I can is that SBL from the radio station is the most fascinating thing I’ve ever seen – it’s actually so intimate & personal. I feel like I’m watching him “record” the song! Love his hand movements and just how his whole body gets into the song. Gee, I’m starting to feel like a radio interview performance is even better than a show! haha!
Only David can make you feel like this!!

Yes dakgal, hurricane David season does seem to be approaching and I haven’t been as excited about such a tumultuous event for quite awhile. I’m getting all my things ready.
These last performances of SBL and Crush (at the radio station) just have to be the best. I think I keep saying that after every new performance. I love, love, love Crush with the guitar. I’m thinking how can I get this on Sirius coffehouse. I listen to that station and they seem, like all other radio stations to play the same artists, same songs, all the time. David definitely has the chops to do acoustic. This rendition of Crush had such a cool groove to it. It sounded do fresh and totally cool.

Hi everyone, I have been playing another version of “Where’s Waldo” only it’s called “Where’s the ring”. So far he still wearing it. I am excited!!!
You will see David fiddling around with the ring at #72 that Pabuckie posted. He spins the narrower band around the wider band. Also, he slides the ring up and down his finger. I think that it gives him something to do with his hands when he is nervous.

Just loved all the vids and photos but what really got me was the acoustic Crush. Honestly it’s never been my favorite song of David’s as I found it difficult lyrically and melodically, but wow, this guitar acoustic version knocked me over. Holy crow it was brilliant. He’s never sounded better (seems to me I say that every time I hear him) Clearly he’s having a blast and why not? My heart rate is already notching up for Friday. Who’s going??? My how times have changed. I recall back last October at a Summer Tour make up show VIP where a VERY pregnant young lady went up and asked David for a hug. He got a deer in the headlights look on his face, flailed his arms around and finally landed his hands on her shoulders for the hug. He was afraid to squish the baby.

Oh my, what a day! Those stunning performances and equally stunning photos. That last pic in #152 — whoa! That beautiful little imp! David has been gradually ‘elevating’ each rendition of Elevator and this Columbus one is a must-watch-again-and-again performance; there are no ‘barriers’ to his fun hand movements. Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next. Notice how Mike seems to be having just as much fun as David is — in fact, as we all are (I can’t stop grinning through it all).

I have mostly preferred David’s music when sung live. Concerts seem to bring out his soul vibe. He adds changes to the performances that stand out as in the riff at the beginning of Works for Me in Las Vegas on solo tour. That is a classic.
He can unleash his creativity when he sings live. He has control of the sound he wants to create. In the studio, we hear the more layered vocals which are nice too. I’ll take live over studio any day. I am a fan of acoustic, a Capella, and live band performances too. David’s real connection to the music shines when he sings live.

Anybody else feeling a little nostalgic? I have been listening to David’s first album songs and performances with this heartache. We are already dipping into this new phase and I guess I am a little sad. 😦 I know I should be happy and I know I will be but it is like I am leaving an old friend in a way.
I listened to She’s Not You (wish that would have seen the light of day cuz I really like it) and many others. He is growing and maturing and learning at lightening speed.
