Growing Up Close and Personal
Posted by djafan on Sunday, May 9, 2010
I love David’s vlogs! I watch them repeatedly and have a favorite clip in each one where he makes me smile, cry, or bust out laughing. This on-camera communication with his fans is such a personal touch. You can feel the sincerity not only in his eyes but also in his voice. Nothing fake about David.
Watching David’s vlogs over time, one after another in chronological order, I began to notice more than the obvious physical changes of his maturing face. I also observed an increasing level of comfort and confidence with each vlog.
He is such a natural in front of the camera, looking into it talking to me. That’s how it feels and I think he feels it too. Remember the one where he coughs and quickly says “Don’t worry, I’m not sick?” He knew what our reaction would be. This made me think that he may read the fansites. Who knows?
So my love for David and his vlogs triggered the idea of a vlog mashup with my favorite clips all in one place for easy access. I purposely made it simple no frills, just David talking to us.
I hope you all like it.

Djafan,
So love this mashup of all his vlogs in chronological order. What a difference toward the end in his appearance and demeanor. Still sweet, humble and unaffected but lots more assurance in front of the camera. His face is longer and more angular too.
#6 Joner, I noticed the brow wipe too which I hadn’t before. Love that.
My favorite part I think is toward the later clips, when he is saying, “As you can see, I don’t know what to do with my hair, but then I never did…” He looks up and off as if he’s trying to recall a time when he EVER knew what to do with his hair. Or something. I don’t really know what he’s thinking but it fascinates me how he just spaces out like he’s trying to check his facts. I love the expressions and the eyebrow raises and the wide-eyed looks when he zooms into the camera to make a point. Second favorite clip…”Any people claiming that they’re me on like myspace or facebook, it’s probably not me.” Probably. Like he can’t say for sure these imposters are not actually him, but they probably aren’t. LOLOL! That last clip he looks amazingly handsome and mature. But I hope he never loses the quirky side of his nature as he ages. Part of his fascinating charm is that he is so unfiltered and genuine.

LOL! Angelica, That’s also my favorite part. He looks up to the ceiling as if he’s just been transported to another place. I would love to know what he was thinking during those 2 sec. You’re probably right, he was checking his facts, after all, he would never want to be dishonest!
I love all his cute expressions! They make me smile…..real big :)) This video also reminds me that before he made my jaw drop with his voice during his audition, it was his personality that caught my attention. How can you not help smiling at the t.v. when hearing him speak? Adorable!

you ladies here are all so special. Loved all the coverage and entertainment for the past month & half while I was on the road and away from home. Though the wifi was available everywhere (even in the middle of the Colorado/Utah desert), the signal was rarely strong enough to keep connection or send out comments. Just had to get on & stay on till I read all the articles and posts.
Aside from our visit with family in Maryland, Nashville was the highlight of our trip on the road. It crushed me to hear about the floods. That part of the south is beautiful – no wonder David loves it there. Also thanks to Emifriend for all the info; sorry to hear about all of the destruction but glad you are safe and recovering.

Good Morning All!
Yesterday was day filled with family. I’m blessed to still have both my parents and my grandkids are doubly blessed to have a close relationship with not only their grandparents, moi and spouse, but also with their great-grandparents. And the cherry on top for the day was David’s wonderful tweet!
I’m so happy you all are enjoying the video. Upon first completing it it had music and all these effects. This being my second video ever I wanted to go all out but I wasn’t buying it…lol. I peeled everything back to just David and was totally happy, just David, front and center, speaking to us like only he does. It is true that sometimes less is more…IMHO.
Thank you all for your kind comments, they are so much appreciated!

YAY! I just emailed Bookends in New Jersey, and they told me they are shipping to any country!! I’m so thrilled, since I really thought I’d be left out (again) living where I live.
I only have to confirm something: the asked for my credit card information. Is it safe to give that info to them? Are they a reliable company for sure? I do realise I’m probably over-reacting, but I’ve been robbed twice (not online though), and I’m really skeptical about this kind of thing.
Thanks in advance.

Embe#34 For what it’s worth, I’ve been to Bookends in Ridgewood, New Jersey. They have a good reputation and have been in business for many years. Ultimately it’s your decision to give them your credit card information but coming from someone who’s actually been to the store, I don’t see a problem. I’d rather purchase the book over the phone than by plastering my credit card info online.
