Hoping David gets to celebrate and get his guacamole fix!

Olvera Street is in the heart of Los Angeles and famous for it’s food, taquitos and guacamole is a specialty.

Here is a narration of the history of Cinco de Mayo told simply and to the point.

Errmmmm. I just looked in my ‘downloader’. There were 12 files. They all had the same name. This may need an explanation. (Either that or an intervention.)

I enjoyed the Como la Flor so much I thought I would check out the other links. The ones that show up underneath when the vid is over. This made me think about cupcakes. (If blame must be assigned for this phenomena, I nominate Julee.)

These pieces of song are like little sweet bits that …. are not a whole cake! (Think: diet. ^_^)

Recipe for Como El Flor Cupcakes:

1st verse: Dark Chocolate, Devils Food cake, with Choc. Chips thrown in for good measure.

2nd part (right where he ends that phrase with “tu” ((a two-letter word that contains more meaning and pathos than the whole alphabet)) and twists the ending sound of it in such a way that I have to swallow twice to get my heart back down where it belongs.): Frosting. Swirled.

3rd part (All the aaaiiii, yaaaiiii, yaaaaaiiiii’s……… plus hums, oooooohs, etc.): Sprinkles. So many that it puts a person into sugar shock for a month.

So, I had a dozen. Sue me.

    #8 David Archuleta

    Album Sales: 968,000
    Track Sales: 3,000,000
    Radio Plays: 177,000

Currently writing for his sophomore album, David Archuleta is approaching platinum sales of his debut album, which has sold 968,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 19-year-old also made a memorable solo turn on “Somos El Mundo,” the Spanish-Language version of “We Are the World 25”, and revisited his performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” on the “Idol” stage in April. True to his nice-guy form, Archuleta recently blogged that year’s batch of “Idol” contestants “a group of cool people!”

#18 Yay! for almost platinum debut CD. That’s amazing. He has 3M downloads too? Ahhh!!! that’s so awesome. He is a superstar. I am wishing that AI will go bust. That sounds pretty bad, I know. But I just feel like there are already way too many AI alums who compete on record sales against David. For regular consumers, there are too many to pick from, especially when their CDs all come out about the same time. Sometimes I wished David came to our lives another way other than AI. I don’t think he’ll ever get rid of the AI mark on him. Kelly Clarkson tried but failed. But like David said, there’s a reason for everything.

Doesn’t look like he’s out and about celebrating cinco de mayo after all as he is still working on music. I hope he gets to celebrate before the end of the day.

    Consider this scenario :

David was meant to be on Idol. He was meant to be the best singer in Idol history. The show has not been the same since he was on season 7. Music needed a wake up call–David Archuleta. David was guided to Idol to save music by doing away with Idol.

They have extremely weak contestants. They are desperate to keep the show afloat. If this is the best they can do, it’s on life support.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Even Simon can’t take the mediocrity. His leaving has not so much to do with Idol’s demise as the fact that David showed them how to do it right. And they have never been able to recover the magic.

I like your perspective. Now that I think about it, without Idol, we might have to wait 10 years before we’ll hear about David Archuleta. I can’t imagine waiting for that long. So glad we get to squee and spazz right now rather than years later.

And I think you are right about Idol this year needing life support. With the XFactor show coming your way with Simon in it, AI could go bust. Simon will canibalize his own creation that is American Idol.

    I#3 Welcome to The Voice!

pabuckie It finally happened! Congrats on getting a tweet from the man himself!

Abrra, you’re spot-on and I totally agree with you about AI this season. And here’s further proof. I read an interesting article last night from The Houston Chronicle, called “Idol Droops Toward its Finale”. The author thinks that the show is so lackluster this year that even the judges are bored! But I found the comments even more interesting than the article because they were mostly about David, yes David Archuleta. This was a column from The Houston Chronicle, not a David Archuleta fansite, but take a look at the comments:

I miss DavidArchuleta. I missed him since last season!
    Posted May 3, 2010 10:00 PM

I miss David Archuleta too..Being a skilled singer is one thing..being a skilled singer who makes you feel something is quite another thing.
    Posted May 3, 2010 10:49 PM

I know…there hasn’t been anyone as special as David Archuleta. Season 7 was the best AI season ever…and where I discovered David. But hang in there…he will be releasing a new single and album soon!!!
    Posted May 4, 2010 06:45 AM

sooooo… nice to see people begin to see how talented Archuleta really was. he is even more phenomenal now as a singer and live performer….
    Posted May 4, 2010 07:26 AM

Your post is spot on, snarky, and oh how I miss David Archuleta’s pipes too…Where’s all the talent this year? The judges did a poor job of choosing peeps from the talent poll if you ask me… gee-sh!
    Posted May 4, 2010 07:48 AM

great article! I agree with this -no one will care who wins this year. I also miss David Archuleta, he was and is the best! (how is Aaron Kelly still there?? he makes Justin Bieber look good).
    Posted May 4, 2010 08:25 AM

Gosh, I miss David Archuleta too! His voice is one of those once in a life time!
    Posted May 4 2010 09:27 AM

Xena, you are so right Idol have been trying oh so unsuccessfully trying to recapture the magic of Archuleta since season seven. No matter how they try to coach Aaron, Lee or Casey in following Archie’s personality. They can’t and they won’t. Aaron is totally playing up to all the Archuleta comments as he continues to mimic Archie’s season seven’s persona, just to help him get by.
    Posted May 4, 2010 10:02 AM

Oh, ya, little David kicked everyone’s butt two years ago.
    Posted May 4, 2010 10:28 AM

What this season is sorely lacking, is ENERGY.
No one looks hungry, like they truly care whether or not they win.I don’t get it. I miss David Archuleta’s wonderful REAL smile,(not like Tim’s) and David’s amazing pitch perfect vocals. The Cook/Archuleta season finale was the best finale ever. then Adam had us tuning in every week to see what outlandishly exciting performance we would witness on season 8. (even Taylor’s craziness at this point would be welcome..at least he had fun.) No one looks like they are enjoying this experience this year, and it really comes across that way. at least to this viewer.
    I give it 5 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s.
    Posted May 4, 2010 10:40 AM

David Archuleta was and will always be the best American idol.:) Glad the people voted Shaboom off couldn’t take off key screaming anymore. Crystal has this one with Lee right behind her but true what will bewcome of them after idol?? David Archuleta was the best American idol to have walked that stage. No one can replace him.
    Posted May 4, 2010 02:56 PM

I agree with your thoughts though I think there’s a place for Crystal in country and southern rock. She just needs some good songs. Re auditioners who got eliminated early on, I blame the darn group round. As we see over and over there are people who monopolize group decisions to only their own advantage, people who sabotage their whole groups with their own issues and this year even a group that tried to sabotage other groups. I think some good contestants are foolishly lost that way. And I miss Archuleta too. That was the one year I was glued to the screen every week. BTW David will have some new stuff soon – single, book, album. That will be nice.
    Posted May 4, 2010 03:39 PM

I’ll unashamedly shout it to the mountains ~ I MISS DAVID ARCHULETA AND SEASON 7! He’s THE BEST! And I am a “forever fan!”
But there are a couple that I do like this season ~ no, they’re not the caliber of David Archuleta, but they’re good! And one of them is not Crystal, and one of them is Aaron! So there!
    Posted May 4, 2010 06:18 PM

Oops! I meant: I’ll shout it on the mountain tops: DAVID ARCHULETA IS THE REAL DEAL AND NEVER TO BE DUPLICATED!
    Posted May 4, 2010 06:36 PM

With regard to David Archuleta and all of the wonderful things said about him by my fellow commenters: It took two years, but finally, I have been vindicated.
    Posted May 4, 2010 08:24 PM

David Archuleta will never be duplicated. He is just unbelivable.
    Posted May 4, 2010 08:40 PM

    I miss Archie!
Idol will never be the same for me!

    Posted May 4, 2010 10:25 PM
DAVID ARCHULETA IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER VOTED FOR OR WILL EVER VOTE FOR…. HE IS AMAZING…..LOVE DAVID’S VOICE AND HE IS A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. HE’S ALSO CUTE AND HAS AN AMAZING SMILE TOO…..
    Posted May 4, 2010 11:01 PM

How exciting it is to hear so many miss David Archuleta. He is the best! He always gave a great performance and you wanted to hug him after each one. This season is very boring and the one that wins will have a difficult time ahead! Thank goodness David’s new album will be out soon!
    Posted May 4, 2010 11:45 PM

This season is so lackluster; yes it lacks luster. There is nobody that I look forward to seeing each week like I did with David Archuleta in season 7. He sang his heart out every week, entertained us and showed his professionalism at the young age of 17! American Idol will never be the same.

Abrra…love the collage. AI is on it’s way down and the impact David had on the show is more evident now interestingly enough than last year.

Bebe, those comments are proof of the phenomenon that is David Archuleta.

    Abrra and Bebe,

I think you’re both right and all those comments in the Houston Chronicle are just the tip of the iceberg. He was meant to be on Idol to get the huge exposure and remind us all what singing used to be and still should be. A skill and an art that takes the listener to another place and makes them feel emotions that NEED to be felt. Or what is the point of being alive? The experience of listening to David or connecting somehow to any truly great artist forces one to confront one’s own humanity and that is a powerful thing. So powerful, that it makes some people uncomfortable and even afraid.

I agree there has never been snyone like David on the AI show. You would not believe how many people that I ran into that said that David should have won. Even the postman. I don’t have a favorite this season either. I really don’t care who wins. I keep hoping that one of them will have the WOW factor.
