Have to “Apologize” for not visiting the Voice Unplugged – to chat with everyone, for a very long time, but I know it is a fun place. So, Bebereader, thanks so much for the delightfully visual invitation! Here is my RSVP!
I promise to be there this Friday, if… if you tell me where you got this extremely beautiful “hunkerdown” photo. I swear I’ve been staring at every inch, seam and sparkle for the past 10 minutes.
Ah, the SHINY SUIT! To paraphrase Rod Stewart, he “wears it well!” It’s “a little old fashioned, but that’s all right”! Like so many others, I too have been going back to the older videos and reminiscing. So, yes, looking forward to seeing everyone and… definitely more of David. Haha, I don’t care what he wears!

Movies night! WooHoo! I get to sit in the back row and munch my popcorn and relax.
I wanted to explain why I was missing online the past 2 days.
Monday morning I put my BIG cup of coffee on the coaster next to my computer. I missed the coaster!
The coffee spilled all over my mouse and keyboard and about 1,000 pieces of paper that I need for phone numbers and passwords.
I grabbed the keyboard and flipped it upside down and shook it like I was mixing paint in the hardware store. I think I can save it after I take it apart and hose it down to get the “sticky” out. In the meantime I am using one that I had from an old set up.
Moral#1 Never toss out usable components.
Moral#2 Drink liquids from a cup with lid.

Read post again. I have a different keyboard that I saved. I think a blow dryer might dry the coffee but then I have a sticky mess. I took it apart and the upper part with the keys and surrounding frame will get a nice shower. It will air dry over a few days and perhaps be workable when I reassemble it to the electronic parts. The mouse is too sticky to use easily. I may just stay with my replacement. As of now, I am back in business.

betsy–FOG–will we ever get too much of it? I don’t think so. I just noticed at 3:52 how David manages his mic and the bottle of water. As adept at is as a hair stylist with a pair of scissors–it takes lots of practice to get there, and not everyone can do it. jez’ sayin’.

1) Katie Stevens: “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson
Poor Katie Stevens. It was pitchy and you could tell she was just trying so hard to nail it. It’s hard being set up as the golden child and then just not quite have the stuff to match up to it. And after listening to the judges’ comments last week to go younger, you can tell she is floundering. She keeps thinking she’s doing the right thing, but she’s just not. I wish they would actually raise the age limit a bit to allow people to develop a little more – for every Jordin Sparks or David Archuleta, there’s 1,000 Katie Stevens.

Was out all morning to come back to a flood of comments…FTW! So excited for Friday night! Been working hard with Abrra to make these Theme Nights enjoyable for all. It will be a pleasure to take over moderating duties on Theme Nights while Abbra has a well-deserved chance to kick back and sit in the chatroom like a regular person for a change. While compiling the tour videos I couldn’t help noticing what a long way David has come since the American Idol tour. Although his performances were absolutely fantastic, his growth as a performer is very evident. You’ll see what I mean on Friday.

Regarding “Save The Day”, I wish I knew why David can’t release this song in the U.S. Recently there’s been talk on IDF about how a band named Mayday recorded the song. I checked their myspace page and sure enough there’s a link to their recording of the song. They don’t do a bad job but with David’s voice the song takes on a whole new meaning. The song is very healing and is about being there for someone, not giving up, getting through crises. Surely Jive must realize that David has the most healing voice out there and is the perfect person to sing this song? The thought of never hearing David sing “Save The Day” live is too painful to think about. This site has a huge readership by now and hopefully, someone from Jive is reading this and will see how we feel. I know that I speak for many other fans as well.

Use alcohol on the keyboard with Q-Tips, it evaporates quickly. Water has chemicals in it and will ruin the components and takes too long to dry. And using a hair dryer on air only will quickly speed up the drying process, do not use heat to dry it though. Good luck 😀

My response to David’s recent vlog was to be so happy that his “sense of wonder” is still so very present in him that it overflows with joy and gratitude. . I read your comments late last night after chat and decided to sleep on them. You’re not obscure; on the contrary you make sparkling clear what we, as fans of this remarkable artist, feel but find difficult to express. The connection David makes with his audience is unequivocal and that’s only one of the reasons he’s so addictive to us. He knows how we feel and tells us so in the way he interprets each song. That connection is so strong that by now it’s undeniable. It’s a beautiful thing.

Last night I discovered that I can write and understand a little more, in English.
The discovery was so sudden, I was in ecstasy all night, until I fell asleep. Abrra, as I understand then, she asked me and I do not answer “who had given me this gift?
DAVID, of course.
Or I’m anxious to integrate the wonderful world of david and understand, and understand their fans and to talk about david, without any limit. (The only limit would be the lack of respect).
David is taking me to places I did not know, I know wonderful people who never thought to know and most importantly HAVE OPENED MY MIND so that I could ever imagine.
My fingers are shot so fast that my mind can not handle them, sometimes, so I apologize again. In the case of better management future, I will write only with two fingers to have more control over my hands, ok?

In the next breath you began typing IN ALL EXCITED CAPS LIKE THIS. you told me “I UNDERSTAND NOW, I CAN READ WHAT YOU TYPE.” This went on for a few minutes as we held a conversation about what you were watching online ( American Idol) as you peeked into the chat as well. Gladys, so happy for you! Your English has improved TONS since you first came to the Voice Unplugged to talk with us! For me, computers were a foreign language before David. The need to communicate with others about the feelings he inspires is so powerful. We are forced to stretch in order to connect. It’s a beautiful thing and still amazes me.

It was David’s influence – one of his vlogs, speeches or an interview (can’t remember which) that I saw on unplugged. He was commenting on visiting his elderly neighbors who either didn’t have family near or they were busy (hmmm?) with their lives. How much it meant to them…. Is he real? Only 19? Besides they don’t teach this stuff, do they? Though they probably broke the mold when he was created, he will be the change he (we) wants to see by being who he is & doing what he does. He’s making a difference in mine.

I was close enough to grab that dang mic stand. Posting my recap of that concert, cause I’m caught up in the Beaumont vortex too now.
I’m back from Beaumont. I have spent the better part of two days sleeping off the effects. First, let me just say that at the two AI concerts I attended, I had to use binoculars. For the Tulsa show, I was actually in the nose bleed section. But Beaumont, Beaumont, Beaumont! It was so intimate, and David was thrilled to have it that way. He feeds off the energy of his fans, and the closer they are, the stronger the connection. Anyway, by some act of God, I found myself front row against the railing and center stage!!!!!!! When Lesley Roy’s set was done, they cleared the stage and placed David’s mic stand right in front of me and so close I could have easily reached out and grasped it in my hand. Then they put his keyboard next to that, and it was so close I could have laid my hand on it. I was thankful to have the railing to hold onto while all this was taking place. Someone taped down his list of songs on the floor next to the mic so close I could read it. YEDL was scribbled in after the medley! My favorite song on the album!
So cue the intro and here he comes with the biggest grin singing TMH. I was suddenly seized with a terror of reaching out my hand for fear he wouldn’t touch it. Isn’t that pathetic? But I tentatively raised my hand and he grasped it so firmly and squeezed so hard! I reflexively and joyously squeezed his right back.
What else can I say? His voice up close and live was such an intensely beautiful, uplifting, exhilarating experience. I could witness on his face every nuance of emotion he put into each song and it was utterly glorious to behold. How can anyone be that breathtakingly gorgeous? Up close, the Phenom is almost TMTH. He was sweating so much that at one point when he was at the keyboard, back lit by the stage lights, the sweat was pouring off him in an unremitting shower of glittering rain. When it was over, I tried to walk away and stumbled into a man in the crowd. I apologized and tried to walk again, but staggered and had to stop a minute and then take baby steps to get my equilibrium back. Never has a performance…a performer, affected me in such a powerful way. He is like a drug. He is a magical, euphoria inducing, intensely mood-enhancing, high. Like I said at the start, I have spent two days sleeping it off. What remains is a case of ODD that has escalated to epic proportions.
That’s not a bad place to be.

Todrick left on an unbelievably good performance. His “Somebody to love” is the first song I’ve wanted to iTunes download this season. Wow! I’m not saying he was the best of the guys, mainly because of his lack of consistency, but at least he’s interesting. Aaron Kelly is never gonna be David Archuleta. Producers/judges, get that through your heads!

I made a video using 12 yr old David’s version of Contigo En La Distancia a week before he sang on ALMA (Magic wand powers at work). There was only one “video” with a single picture, so I put some better pictures to my video. It had about 2,000 views for the last few months. Today it has 3,562. They are discovering David in his early years as well.

Idol Chatter…another interview!
Nashville’s been crawling with former Idols this week, and, while Alexis Grace and I never got together after a brief game of phone tag, I did get to sit down with David Archuleta for a few minutes Friday. If you haven’t read jdesab’s “Risk” thread in the Forum, you’ll want to do that before I post the interview this weekend: There, I wrote about why I considered David’s Imagine a good example of risk-taking by an Idol contestant, and, during our interview, David went into some detail about that performance and why he chose to sing it the way he did. Also in the Forum, I’ve posted a new Five for Friday listening list.
